Al-Ulum adalah jurnal yang terbit berkala pada bulan Juni dan Desember, ditelaah dan direview oleh para ahli dalam bidangnya, diterbitkan oleh lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian pada Masyarakat Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Sultan Amai Gorontalo, Indonesia ISSN 1412-0534 E-ISSN 2442-8213 Al-Ulum telah diakreditasi dengan peringkat B oleh Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Keputusan Keputusan Direktur Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi No. 53/DIKTI/Kep/2013 untuk periode 2013-2018. Sekarang, AL-Ulum telah terakreditasi sistem online dengan peringkat “Sinta 2” untuk periode 2018-2022 oleh Kementerian Riset, Teknologi, dan Pendidikan Tinggi SK No. 21/E/KPT/2018.

This article depicts the philosophical equilibration in the concept of Islamic education refers to the basic principle of perfect human beings who aim to get happiness in the life of the world and the hereafter. The goal is the concept of Islam to teach a balance between individuals, social, physical, and spiritual, with the hope that there will be no imbalances in the life of the nation and state. The research used the dynamic personality development theory, supported by theories of individual and social balancing processes and inspired by the concept of Islamic education. This study describes human experience and presents a philosophical view of life about the value of personality in the life of the nation and state. The research results showed that the philosophical acceleration of the development of the value of Personality in people's lives, by means of a persuasive approach as a force that serves to bring every citizen closer to life in society.

This article analyzes the application of madrasah educational management strategies in Gorontalo Municipality. This study focuses on management in Madrasah Aliyah Muhammadiyah Gorontalo City is the process of implementing curriculum management strategies and the process of applying human resource management strategies. The results showed that, the strategy of managing education in Madrasah Aliyah Muhammadiyah Gorontalo. First, the application of curriculum management strategy consists of planning, namely the implementation of curriculum planning activities always involve all elements, the madrasah head participates in overcoming difficulties, supervision and assessment shows the results of the final stage evaluation (odd semester test) is quite good. Second, the implementation of Human Resources management strategies, namely teachers and employees appear professional in terms of: time attendance discipline, return, and neatness, carrying out tasks and responsibilities properly and professionalism of teachers in managing classes and changes in student behavior.

This article suggests the problematic of educators and students as learning actors so it is important to interact educative, conductively, effectively, and efficiently. Students as the next generation, it is important to be equipped with religious education (PAI) in order to have personality integrity. The success of students in PAI learning is influenced by creativity, commitment, dedication, and competence of educators implementing learning. It is important to examine the problem of educators and students in learning, the problem of learning Islamic education, and the solution to that problem. This research is Research and Development (R&D). The research findings in the field show among others: the problem of educators is the complexity of the character of students; limited learning time; mastery of subject matter; availability of learning tools; limited learning infrastructure; mastery of learning strategies and methods; participation in scientific training and meetings; and the density of activities at the cottage. The problem of students is also monotonous learning strategies and methods; high teaching material; memorization strategy; motivation to compete; and lack of discipline.

The problems of Islamic education in Patani Malay which began in the golden period, gradually decreased, when the Malay kingdom of Patani was taken over by the Thai kingdom. The research results of the study show that: First, Patani Malays who lived in parts of Southern Thailand had experienced a period of triumph so that many gave birth to clerical figures. Second, when Patani was taken over by the Siamese kingdom, the Islamic educational institutions had undergone changes consisting of three types, namely Islamic schools, madrassas, and Islamic boarding schools. Third, changes in Islamic educational institutions increasingly experienced changes when the change of Thai leaders, namely the assimilation of educational culture. Fourth, the government policy towards Patani Malay, which continues to trigger conflict, makes them set policies according to the wishes of the Patani people but the policy is experiencing a dilemma for Patani Malay.

This article mainly aims to find the right model for improving service quality and user satisfaction of State Islamic of Religious Higher Education Institutions (Pendidikan Tinggi Keaagamaan Islam Negeri - PTKIN) by involving the organizational culture of Service Quality. This study purposefully contributes to the development of the field of education management, especially those related to the causality model of organizational culture. The results showed that there was a positive direct effect on Organizational Culture and Service Quality on User Satisfaction of Islamic Higher Education Institutions IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. The results of this study are in line with the theory put forward by Philip Henslowe which shows that the impression obtained from the level of knowledge and understanding of facts regarding people, products or situations) is largely determined by the culture of people producing goods and services, maintaining service quality and ensuring the fulfillment of user expectations.

This article explains the Implementation of the Policy on Procurement of Religious Education Teachers in Schools in Samarinda Municipality, the East Kalimantan Province. This is a descriptive-qualitative research. The research results showed that there was poor communication between the Department of Education and the Ministry of Religion in relation to the preparation and proposed formation and determination of civil servants in religious teachers procurement. There is a different understanding in each institution. It shows that there is sectorial egos arises between each ministry. The Ministry of Religion as a vertical institution the madrassas and the Education Office of schools should arrange synergizing in the procurement of religious teachers. Therefore, both institution require an MOU between the Regional Government and the Ministry of Religion regarding the formation of the appointment of religious teachers both CPNS and the appointment of religious teachers THL (Tenaga Harian Lepas - Freelance Daily Workers).

This article aims to depict the material of social character education in the will, Zul Ishba 'al-Adwani and explain its relevance to Islamic values. The research results show that the interpretation of jahiliyah terminology, which is identical with moral decline, is not all true. Each community has a value that is a reference in social interaction. This is reflected in the will of Zul Ishba 'al-Adwani, a figure of the jahiliyah era, who is loaded with moral values in the context of social interaction. 'Al-Adwani considers that to acquire appreciation in society, one does not have to act arrogantly, but is obtained by first anesthetizing their hearts with commendable qualities, such as tenderness, humble, generous, and always responding to their interests. Although Zul Ishba' lived during the pre-Islamic era, the material in his determination has relevance to the character values in Islam. The character shows that there is a universal value recognized by all societies without being limited by ideological differences.

The article is to depict trust, justice, and ethics to the job performance in Islamic perspective on educational staffs of the State Islamic Institute (Institut Agama Islam Negeri - IAIN) of Bengkulu. This research design using qualitative descriptive method is data collection using a set of instruments; namely interviews, observation and documentation. The results show that trust, justice, ethics in Islamic perspective can improve job performance. It is advisable if one wants to improve the job performance; then, there should be increase the trust, justice, and ethics at the educational staff of the State Islamic Institute Bengkulu.

This research focuses on the process of understanding the implementation of character education in SMA Negeri 3 Malang through Bedhol Bhawikarsu activities. This activity is organized by and for students in rural communities under the guidance of educators. On one hand, this activity is designed with the hope of internalizing normative values character in students. Therefore, this research will understand the design and implementation of character education models based on normative values. This research uses a qualitative approach to produce descriptive data in the form of written, oral, and observable behaviors. Data were collected by interview, observation, and documentation methods, and then analyzed by interactive analysis of Miles and Hubermann. This research concludes character education through the direct implementation of Bedhol Bhawikarsu in society can internalize values such as the values of honesty, tolerance, religiosity, patriotism, hard work, and independence. These character values are forms of values that are sourced from Islamic values. Therefore, the construction of the character education organization will be able to be realized through activities that unravel many Islamic values to be internalized in students.

This article aims to explain the implementation of the model of reflective moral inquiry design in PAI learning. The reflective of the model of moral inquiry model design was developed based on reflective and self-analytical concepts with moral dilemmas approach that occur in daily life as a problem that must be solved by students through learning. This model is expected to make PAI learning more meaningful, students' knowledge about religious teachings can be a source of values and driving behavior for students in real life. But in fact, the implementation of PAI learning is more dominant in initiating the achievement of the knowledge aspect because the teacher's mindset is still using teacher-centered in implementing learning.
