Abstract

ABSTRACT The population of aphids (Aphis gossypii) in Kampung Batu Kembar lake district of Solok decrease the production of vegetables. One of the vegetables that there are in the areas of this Batu village is potatoes. The purpose of this study was to determine the population density of Aphis gossypii on potato in Kampung Batu Kembar Lake District of Solok. This study was conducted in September-November 2013 with a descriptive survey method by direct collection against A. gossypii existing research in the location. Field sampling conducted on potato tubers and grow new potatoes will be  harvested a  month. Physical environmental factors measured are temperature, pH  and  soil  moisture. Widely used  as  a  study area  of about 30  x  20  m.  The characteristics of A. gossypii were found on potato in Kampung Batu subdistrict Kembar Lake are body size from 1.1 to 3 mm , konikel one pair , there are winged and wingless and there are a variety of body colors such as black, green, and yellow. From the research that has been conducted on potato in Kampung Batu Kembar Lake District of Solok was concluded on potato tubers grown induvidu obtained 7.69 / month clumps and the potatoes will be harvested obtained 4.6 induvidu / clump. Population density of A. gossypii were found already passed the threshold of pest control.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The use of media in teaching and learning can clarify students understanding of the subject matter and can make the learning process more interesting and effective . But the reality in the learning process , teachers are not using the medium of learning because teachers are not able to make instructional media and just rely on the book as a source of learning , thus making the students find it difficult to understand the material . Associated with it is developed interactive media on the material organization of life for SMP . This study aims to produce an interactive media organizations on the material of valid and practical life . This type of research is the development of research by using a 4 - D models which consists of 4 stages , namely , the definition (define) , design (design) , development (develop) and the spread (disseminate) , but the deployment phase (disseminate) is not done . Define phase consists of a curriculum analysis , analysis of students and media analysis . At the design stage to design interactive media . At this stage of develop test the validity and practicalities . Test validity by a validator which consists of 2 lecture of biology and 1 junior high school biology teacher . Test practicalities by 1 biology teacher and junior class VII Perti Padang . These data were analyzed with descriptive analysis . The results of the validity test of interactive media by validator shows that interactive media is in the valid criteria ie 86.25 % in terms of variable material / content, form of media , motivation , and language . Test results practicalities of interactive media by teachers indicate that interactive media is in a very practical criterion is 88.67 % and the test results demonstrate the practicalities of interactive media by students is located in a very practical criterion is 86.72 % in terms of practicality variable ease of use , availability time , the appeal of the device , interpreted the material , which is the same as the equivalent of teaching materials and evaluation. This suggests that interactive media on the material life of the resulting organization is valid and very practical .

Abstract

ABSTRACT The students’ low learning achievement was regarded as one of the problems in the learning process. The students at MTsN Talaok Bayang had not yet been able to achieve the Minimum Standard score in Biology determined by school (70). One of the alternative ways to improve the students’ learning achievement was by applying Think Pair Square cooperative learning model. The aim of this research was to reveal the effect of using Think Pair Square cooperative learning model on Biology learning achievement of the students in class VIII of MTsN Talaok Bayang registered in Academic Year 2012/2013.This was an experimental research. The population of the research was all of students (214 students) inclass  VIII  of  MTsN  Talaok  Bayang  which  were  distributed  to  six  classes.  By  using  purposive  sampling technique, class VIII4 which consisted of 36 students was taken as the experimental group and class VIII5 which consisted of 35 students was chosen as the control group.The data obtained in this research was analyzed by using t-test. The result of the research indicated thatthe students’ average score in the experimental group (76,03) was higher than that of students in the control group (65,93). From the result of data analysis, it was figured out that the value of t calculated (4,22) was bigger than the value of ttable (1,67). This result signified that the hypothesis was accepted on the significance level 95% (α =0,05). Hence, it was concluded that the use of Think Pair Square cooperative learning model exerted an influenceupon Biology learning achievement of the students in class VIII of MTsN Talaok Kecamatan Bayang KabupatenPesisir Selatan.

Abstract

ABSTRACBivalve is one of fisheries products having essential value as a source of food.  It is caught in a variety of type sand sizes. Polymesoda bengalensis is a regarded as filtration feeders and detritus feeders. Filtration feeders refine plankton from the waters around, while the Detritus feeders make use of organic materials from plants falling down to the bottom of the water. This research was   designed for revealing the natural forage given to the cultivation of Polymesoda bengalensis. This cresearch was conduced in January 2013 to analyze Polymesoda bengalensis bowel in Muara Nipah Kecamatan Sutera Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan. To conduct the research, survey Descriptive method was applied. The sample was was chosen by using Random Sampling method. The numbers of the sample analyzed was 30 in which the length of the bivalves bodies were < 30 mm, 30-50 mm, and > 50 mm. There were 10 bivalves taken as the representation of each size.Based on the result of data analysis, Detritus and 12 genus of Phytoplankton were found in the Polymesoda bengalensis bowel. Detritus was the most dominant natural forage found in the bivalves bowel. The frequency of its existence was 100%.   In the bowel of bivalves of <30 mm length, Detritus was the most dominant food found (49,465) followed by Synedra (8,6%). In the bowel of bivalves of 30-50 mm length, the food found was dominated by Detritus (47,77%) followed by Synedra (10%), while in the bowel of bivalves of > 50 mm length, the food found was dominated by Detritus (39,13%) follwed by Cymbella (10,43%). Based on the preference viewed from the Largest Index, the natural forage for the bivalve of < 30 mm length, Oedogonium and Detritus were considered as the main food, meanwhile, for the bivalve of > 50 mm length, Detritus was as the main food. Based on the result of data analysis, it was revealed that the main forage for Polymesoda bengalensis was Detritus and Oedogonium.

Abstract

ABSTRACT                                                                             Internal and  external  factors  are  factors that  exist  in  each  of the  individual  itself.  Many  factors influence the results of learning biology of the students, including internal and external factors. Based on the observations that have done by the researcher at Junior High School 2 Bayang there were information that the students got difficulty in biology from internal such as lack of interest, motivation, time management, and maintaining health. Then, from external such as lack of attention from parents and less environmental support caused students were lazy to learn. Consequently directly and indirectly have an effect to the students’ achievement. The purpose of this research was to review internal and external factors the causes of students’ difficulties in learning Biology for grade VIII Junior High School 2 Bayang Pesisir Selatan Regency.The design of this research was descriptive. The population of this research was the students for grade VIII Junior High School 2 Bayang Pesisir Selatan Regency in academic year 2013/2014 and the total number of the students was 203. Then, the sample was 30% or 61 students from 203 students. The technique was random sampling. Each student was randomly taken by using a lottery. The lottery will be drawn as the research sample.The percentages of the data based on the findings of this research were internal factors 66,03% with influential criteria, for external factors were: percentage of family factor 75,7% with influential criteria, percentage of school factor 65,9% with influential criteria, percentage of society factors 71,32% wit h influential criteria. It can be concluded that the external factors gave the greater impact to the students’ difficulties in learning Biology for grade VIII Junior High School 2 Bayang Pesisir Selatan Regency by percentage 70,97%.

Abstract

 ABSTRACT   Fusarium is the soil born pathogens fungi that cause withered disease in host plant. Fusarium can be hold in ground longtime, because it can be klamidospora. This fungi attack the water carrier network, so that it can  be disturb the transportation of host plant water. So the plant be withered, turn yellow and dwarf. The grow of fungi can be blocked by using biological agents, it is Trichoderma harzianum. The purpose of this research is follow to know T. harzianum ability in blocked the grow of F. oxysporum cause withered disease of papaya plants as In - Vitro. This research use RAL (The design of random completly) by 3 treatments. That consist of : (1) T. harzianum isolate 1, (2) T. harzianum isolate2, (3) T. harzianum isolate 3. The result of this research is analyzed by using Anova experiment (Analisis of Varians). The avarege of percentage result in the blocked treatment A = (60,63 %), treatment B = (51,36 %), treatment C = (65,27%). The average of colony diameter T. harzianum of treatment A = (7,53 mm), treatment B = (7,15 mm), treatment C = (8,17 mm). The average of colony diameter F. oxysporum of treatment A = (2,99 mm), treatment B = (3,18 mm), treatment C = (2,70 mm). It can be counlude that T. harzianum can blocked the grow of F. oxysporum cause of withered disease in pepaya plant (Carica papaya L) as In – Vitro.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Mangosteen ( Garcinia mangostana L. ) is one of tradisional medicine contains mangostin soul. Mangostin has effect to prevent cell division ( cytokinesis ). This research to determine the effect of extracts of mangosteen ( Garcinia mangostana L. ) on the mating ability of male mice ( Mus musculus L. Swiss Webster). This research use the male mice ( Mus musculus L.) by 4 treatment and 6 repetition. Treatment that is given is an extract of mangosteen with various dose are: treatment 1 is an control, treatment II, III, and IV are the treatments which are given the extract of mangosteen orally during 36 days with a dose of   0.2, 04 and 0.6 g / head / day. After the administration of mangosteen extract , mating ability test on each test 1 male mated with 5 female mice to see the amount of   intromision, the number of female mice pregnant female mice. The analyzed using ANOVA ( Analysis of Variance ) and then continue test with LSD test at α level of5%. The result showed an average movement of the control is 14,66 intromisi not significanty different from treatment A is 13,83 and decine intromisi movement occurs on treatment B with an average of 6,5 and an average of 5,66 C treatment. For the number of female mice in mamage to male mice in each treatment was not significanty different compared with controls mared each 2 tail. While the number of oregnant  female mice were successful, namely 2,33 in control and not significanty different  from treatment  A  with  an  average  of  2,00,  a  decrease in  the  average treatment B and C average 1,33 and 1,00 It can be concluded that the extract of mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) were administered orally for 36 days at a does of o 0,4 g /head /day did not affect mating mice but decrease the number of pregnant female mice.

Abstract

 ABSTRACTCricket is an insect closely related to grasshoppers, have flat bodies and long antennae.Crickets used as feed for animals such as birds chirped and Arowana fish. Crickets on the market demand is likely to increase while the presence of crickets in the wild has declined. In order pace with demand and rising consumption it, then it tried to cultivate crickets. In crickets maintenance was one of the most important feeding nutritious browing so fast. Crickets growth can be accelerated  by  providing  feed  concentrate  shaped  mashed  first  before  given.  One  of  them bravo511. This study aims to determine the effect of feed mixtures Bravo 511 against crickets weight and feed consumption. Research consumption was implemented in the Tower District of Kuranji Korong Gadang, Padang. This study began in January 2014. This research was CRD (completely randomized design) consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications. Each treatment was (A) control, (B) K + Brvao 511 0.2 g, (C) K + Bravo 511 0.3 g, (D) K + Bravo 511 0.4 g, and (E) K + Bravo 511 0.5 gr. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance followed by LSD at 5% level. Results showed that administration of a mixed diet of crickets bravo511 significant effect on body weight crickets but has no effect on feed consumption. It can be concluded that the administration of the feed mixture Bravo511 crickets crickets can increase body weight and accelerate the growth of the wing so as to provide rapid time to harvest crickets.

Abstract

ABSTRACT  There are many factors influence the low mark of student’s Biology achievement. One of them , is the low of student interesting in Biology learning so it become pasive. One way to solue this problem is give an active learning strategi type planted question on student Biology achiment class VIII  MTs Muhammadiyah Silaping  Kabupaten West Pasaman. The type of this  reasearch is  exprimental  with  randomized  control  group  post  test  only  design.  The population is student from class VIII MTs Muhammadiyah Silaping academik year 2013/2014 which consist of three clas. The sampling technique used here was purposive sampling, which caried VIIIC   as experimental class and VIIIB as control class. The instrument which was used is test with objective from consist of 30 items. Data analysis was proven by test with criterion t calculate > t table. The result was the everage of Experimental class is 82,37 with branching 6,81 in contrast, control class is gotten 62,58 in average with 12,2 branching. From test, it can be gotten t calcurate (8,84) > t table   (1,67), so it can be concluded  that learning Biology with active learning strategy type planted question can increase the stundents Biology achievemrnt class VIII MTs Muhammadiyah Silaping.

Abstract

Abstract Ferns specially have distinctive physique , make likely to be mistake with other plant species . Part of the uniqueness of it is that there are young leaves are curled which will open if an adult , this characteristic also called vernasi curled , nails reproduce by spores , spores are formed within the sporangium is generally found in large numbers on the underside of leaves .Anai Valley Nature Reserve is a conservation area located in West Sumatra . This research was carried out by using descriptive method by means of direct field observation and collection . Identification is done in Sumatra Biota Laboratory , University of Andalas (ANDA) , Biological Resources Unit of Sumatra , Campus Unand Limau Manis , Padang .From the research that has been conducted in the area Anai Valley Nature Reserve , Tanah Datar regency of West Sumatra , which is classified into sixteen kinds of nails , grouped into thirteen families , eight orders , and three classes of terrestrial nails .
