Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research was to know the effect of applying active learning type learning start with a question (LSWQ). Kind of this research was experimental research. The design of the research was randomized control group only design with the population of the grade VII students of SMPN 1 Lembah Gumanti Kabupaten Solok that consisted of six classes. The technique of taking sample done with purposive sampling so it got the result VIIC  as experimental class and VIID as control class. The instrument used was post test with objective test form. The data analysis was done with ttest. Based on the test score of the learning result student biology got the mean score of experimental class (76,44), hinger than control class (68,99). From the data analysis  got ttest was (1,850) than ttable (1,680). Because ttest > ttable  so the hypotesis was accepted. It can be concluded that, active learning type learning start from question got significance students learning biology result at the grade VII student of SMPN 1 Lembah Gumanti Kabupaten Solok.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purposes of this research was to know the effect of completing concept map that followed by spotlight games on biological study achievement at class 2 of SMPN 2 Kecamatan Bayang, Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan. This research was an experimental research which is used randomize design. The population was all of the student’s at class VII of SMPN 2 Bayang which are registered for academic year in 2012/2013 at second semester. They are divided into 7 classes. The sample is gotten from randomize way. The sample was class VII6 as experimental class and VII5 as the control class. The data analysis is used the t-table at 0,05 as the passing grade. Based on the hypothesis testing, the value of t-calculation (4,68) was bigger than t-table (1,64). It’s mean that hypothesis is accepted. Therefore it can be concluded that completing concept map that followed by spotlight games can increase student’s biology achievement at at class 2 of SMPN 2 Kecamatan Bayang in academic year 2012/2013.

Abstract

Epilitic algae is part of a group microperifitic algae that lives attached to the substrate (stone,coral, gravel and other hard objects). Solok Regency has Talang Mount with the beautifulnatural that can be enjoyed, this place also has a hot water source in Bukik Gadang, NagariKoto Anau, Lembang Jaya District, Solok Regency which is believed has a power to heal ortreat and as a tourism object. The temperature of hot water is about 39 – 45 ºC. The researchof epilitic algae in Bukik Gadang hot spring, Lembang Jaya District, Solok Regency in haddone Desember 2012 – Maret 2013. The purpose of this research to know the variety ofepilitic algae at different temperatures. This research has done by using a descriptive surveymethod with determining three station based on the different temperatures and sampling wasdone by purposive sampling at each station were taken three points. This research found 17species of epilitic algae consist of two classes of Bacillariophyceae and Cyanophyceae. Theclass Bacillariophyceae found 9 species and class Cyanophyceae 8 species that live attemperatures of 39 – 45 ºC, pH 7,01 – 7,50, dissolved oxygen 1,44 – 3,96 mg/l, the sulfurcontent from 0,089 – 0,105 mg/l.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Influence of benthos have be affected environment in water factor, biological factor although physics and chemistry water. Benthos compositions make be indicator in thr water quality. Study to know compositions and diversity benthos in Batang Kuantan River. Research until Maret 2013 with Survey Descriptive method. It was do effect in gold mining waste. Total of 13 genus of the benthos the belonging 3 classis, 6 ordo, and 12 famili. The highest of density showedin the station I (1437,77 individu/m2), and the lowest density showed in the station II (177,34 individu/m2). The highest frequency showed in the stasion I (8,00) and the lowest frequency showed in the station II (1,66). Indeks Diversity the benthos turn of 0,5625-2,0358, thus Batang Kuantan River heavily polluted category. Physics and chemistry factor of the Batang Kuantan River still suitable for life the benthos.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Orchids live an cool and humid habitat in tropical forest so that its biodiversity is quite high in that area. Lembah Anai Nature Reservation is one of Nature Reservation which is located in West Sumatera. There is still few  information or documentation reports and  images that  reveal the biodiversity of Orchids in Lembah Anai Nature Reservation. The aims of this research is know and describe the biodiversity of Orchids in Lembah Anai Nature Reservation, Tanah Datar regency of West Sumatera. The research is conducted from March to July 2013 by using direct survey. The research is done in the north side of Lembah Anai Nature Reservation along forest patrol path. Then, the specimen isidentified in the Botany laboratory of Padang State University and Herbarium Andalas (ANDA), Padang.From this research, it is found that there are 21 species of orchids from16 genus, which consist of epiphytic Orchids such as Agrostophyllum glumaceum Hook.f., Agrostophyllum sp., Appendicula sp., Bulbophyllum membranaceum Teijsm & Binn., B. uniflorum (Bl.) Hassk., Bulbophyllum sp., Coelogyne rochusseni de Vriese, Dendrochilum cf.simile Bl., Dendrobium crumenatum Sw., Dendrobium sp., Eria sp., Bulbophyllum condylobulbon Rchb.f., Pholidota imbricata (Roxb.) Lindl., P. ventricosa (Bl.) Rchb.f., Pomatocalpa latifolia (Lindl.) J.J. Sm., Thrixspermum sp., and 5 species of teresterial Orchids such as Apostasia nuda R.Br., Calanthe sp., Macodes petola (Bl.) Lindl., Plocoglottis plicata (Roxb.) Ormerod., Tainia sp.. Based on this finding, it is suggested that there will be a further research of inventory of the  biodiversity Orchids on the south side of Lembah Anai Nature Reservation.

Abstract

ABSTRACT           The research was motivated by the result of student learning is still low. Which is the average value of daily test of biology, expecialy in matery of plant cells and animal cells class in semester one in the class XI (eleven)  or senior high school in Bayang is still under complete minimal criteria  established in that school . To solve this problems and to improve the result of student learning,  the teachers must do innovation in the process of student learning, do innovation in the process of student learning. One model that requires involvement of the student is to apply the model of Snowball Throwing accompanied by handout . This study aimed to examine the influence of result of  student learning in the study of biology through the model accompanied Snowball Throwing and handout in the class XI (eleven) of senior high school in  Bayang Kabupaten pesisir selatan for academic Year 2013/2014. This type of research is experimental with population of the student in the class XI (eleven) in senior high school in bayang listed in the school year 2013/2014 as much as 4 (four) class.  For example is in the class XI (eleven) in IA2 as experimen class and IA4 as control class taken using purposive random sampling technique . The study design was a randomized Only Control Group Design . Based on the analysis results obtained average achievement test in the experimental class was 76.23 and the standard deviation of 14.67 , while the average achievement test control class 70.43 and standard deviation 12.72 . After testing with the t-test is obtained price t.count = 1.7576 and t.table t = 1.6608 means t.count > t.table , then the hypothesis in this study with a level of 95 % is accepted . It can be concluded that the use of models of Snowball Throwing and handout have affect the result of student learning of the study of biology in senior high school in the class  XI (eleven) in Bayang Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan in Academic Year 2013/2014.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The research background is that there are plant ecosystem changes caused human activity, and we can found that cutting tree in the forest and was changed to farming area and impact to vegetasi of plant around. This research to knowing variant of fern at Kelurahan Baringin Kecamatan Lubuk Kilangan Kota Padang have been done at July – August 2013. Survey and descriptive method used in plant inventory, identification was doing at Botani Laboratory biology STKIP PGRI Sumbar. Result of research obtained 17 species and 9 familia is consist of teresterial fern and epifit fern. Terrestrial fern has many variant such as Blechnum orientale Linn., Nephrolepis biserrata (Sw.) Schott., Nephrolepis hirsutula (Forst. Pr.), Gleichenia linnearis (Burm.) Clarke., Lycopodiella camparum L., Lygodium circinatum Sw., Lygodium volubile Sw., Phymatodes longissima (BI.) J.Sm, Selaginella plana Hieron., Thelypteris abrupt (Desv.) Proctor., Thelypteris khuntii (Desv.) Morton., Thelypteris resinifera (Jerman) Proctor., Thelypteris sp, Macrothelypteris torresiana (Gaudich.) Ching.. and epifit fern consist of Asplenium nidus L., Davalia denticulate (Burm.) dan Drynaria sparsisora Moore.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The use of insecticide often exceed the dose should be in addition to harmful to health, the environment and also have an impact on-non target animal, one of them earthworm. This study on the effect of the insecticide Diazinon 600 EC to fecundity and viability of earthworm cocoons Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. Mull. It has been conducted in-July – Augustus 2013, housed in the zoology laboratory biology, Padang State University.This research  is an experiment using the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments 6 replications. The treatmens were Diazinon 600 EC with 0 g/l (A), 0,002 g/l (B), 0,004 g/l (C), and 0,006 g/l (D) mixed with media. Parameters in this study were the fecundity and viability of earthworm cocoons Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. Mull.The average number of cocoons fecundity and viability of earthworm cocoons Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. Mull found highest in treatment A (40) and the lowest cocoons treatment D (0). While the average percentage hatchability Pontoscolex corethrurus earhworm cocoons were highest in  A, B, and C were 100% and the lowest concentration of D(0 %). It can coucluded that the insecticide Diazinon 600 EC can reduce fecundity cocoon, but had no effect on the viability of earthworm cocoons Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. Mull.

Abstract

ABSTRACTAlmost all people in the Induriang village  use traditional medicinal plants, whether plants that have been cultivated and wild growing plants. This study was conducted to determine the types of medicinal plants used by people in the  Induriang village. The research was conducted in June 2013 by a descriptive survey method, the sampling in the village Induriang researchers assisted by 2 shaman and sampling carried out in the fields, houses and woods around the radius depth of ± 100 meters from the road. From this study, it was found as many as 33 species of medicinal plants from 22 familia and can be used to treat 28 kinds of diseases outside and internal medicine. Medicinal plant species most commonly found are from Familia Poaceae, Myrtaceae, Euphorbiaceae and Zingiberaceae respectively 3 types and is advisable to be able to conduct further research on the ecology of medicinal plants that exist in the area.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Fern is one of the plants that can be found in the forest and is a group of low level plants with a high level of species diversity. Ferns thrive in temperate climates; they are easily found in the forests. On the side of the road, in the trunk or growing on the soil. Bayang sani’s waterfall is a tourist place with a fairly high humidity that makes lots of ferns grow. Local government will inaugurate this places as a tourism area in south pesisir regency. This situation will be resulted on the construction of larger roads for the visitors who come on tourism sites in baying sani. The development on the reconstruction can be harmful for the plants around the waterfall, especially ferns grown at the edge of the waterfall. This study was conducted from February to March 2014 in   the   Bayang  sani’s   Tourism  area,   bayang   subdistrict,  south   pesisir  regency.   Further, identification of the sample was conducted at the botany laboratory of biology education program STKIP PGRI of West Sumatra. The research method is the descriptive survey. Data of the research is analyzed descriptively based on the data and description of the species obtained. Based on the research of the types of terrestrial and epiphytic ferns in Bayang sani’s tourism area, Bayang subdistrict,  South  Pesisir  Regency,  it  was  found  that  there  are  21  species  of  terrestrial  and epiphytic ferns with 14 species   of terrestrial ferns and 7 species of epiphytic fern which belong to the 2 classes, 11 families, 17 genera, 21 species.Â
