Abstract

ABSTRACT  Teacher-centered learning (teacher center) is less attractive to some students resulting in low student learning outcomes obtained . The low yield is due to students learning tends to be passive during learning , the lack of interaction between students and teachers , and students with other students . Therefore, this study used the technique in the form of discussion which is a technique Quick On The Draw is accompanied by a handout that can make students more active and the interaction between students and other students or between students and teachers . This study aimed to examine the effect of quick on the draw techniques coupled with giving handouts on learning outcomes biology MTsN Tarusan eighth grade students on the material in the Human Respiratory System. This research is an experimental study with a  randomized study design posttest Only Control Group Design . Implementation research is conducted in an experimental class VIII.B class with 41 students and the number of classes that control VIII.C classes totaling40 students . Statistical hypothesis testing is used is the t-test . The results showed that the class that uses learning techniques Quick On The Draw has an average value of 80.07 is higher than the conventional classroom learning with the use of an average of 72.98. T-test results of testing on the real level of 0.05 obtained T count = 2.57 and T table = 1.66 means T count > T table . The conclusion of this research is the student learning outcomes obtained using learning techniques Quick On The Draw is accompanied by a handout higher than on student learning outcomes using conventional learning material on the human respiratory system in class VIII MTsN Tarusan South Coast.

Abstract

 Abstract Tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill) is one of the horticultural plants was found around Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia and quickly spread in to all of world. Tomatoes consist of several nutrients such as vitamins A and C. Tomatoes havealso high content of water and soft texture, therefore tomatoes can not be saved for a long time, they are easy to be damage after harvesting caused by handling and transporting. They are also easy to be contaminated by microorganism such as fungus and bacteria. It will make the tomato decomposed and decayed. The purpose of this research is to inventarisation of fungus found on tomatoes were sold in some markets in Padang.  This  research  has  done  in  laboratory  of Microbiology of the Department  o f Biology,  faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty, Andalas University since February until March 2014. The research used descriptive survey method, and the samples were collected by purposive sampling. The fungi isolated in medium PDA and  characterised  macros- and  microscopicaly for the identification. The result  found three species of fungus, they are Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus parasiticus, Penicillium italicum and Mucor sp

Abstract

ABSTRACT  To reach the goal of learning, teaching media is really crucial in theaching and learning process.The type of teaching media developed is interactive teaching media. It is a kind of multimedia format that is designed in compact disc with the purpose of interactive application in it. Teaching media that is commonly used at school nowadays is powe point. This kind of media still cannot attract students attention yet. Because of this problem, interative teaching media was developed for learning material excretion system at the seccondgrade of senior high school. The purpose of the study was to investigate the validity and practicality of interactive teaching media. This study was research development that used 4D  Models consists of four stages: define, design, develop and disseminate. The research was done at develop stage. Meanwhile, at define stage, the curriculum and student’s analysis was done. The interactive teaching media for learning material excretion system for students it self was designed at stage design. Then, the validity test was conducted at the testing. The practicality was done by two teacher and twenty students of third grade in senior high school. The data was analyzed by percentage technique and presented descriptively. The result of validity test for interactive teaching media reveals that interactive teaching media is valid, 88,65 % based on material aspect, type of media, motivation and language. Moreover, from practicality test, it shows that interactive teaching media is very practical in use, 88,64 % and the results of practicality test from students is 80,9 % (practical). Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that interactive teaching media for learning material excretion system at the second grade of senior high school have fulfilled the validity and practicality criteria.

Abstract

 Media of learning is very important in teaching learning process, each of media is teaching material. The teaching material that using by the teacher is handout. Handout that using in the school is less in terest, in view of picture because the picture have not a colour, so, do not can in terest the students attention in learning. Based on that case, developed the media of learning such a pictorial handout with mind map in biological variety material for SMA class X. The purpose of this research is to know the validity and practicalities a pictorial handout with mind map. This research is development research that using model 4-D that consists of: Define, Design, Development and Disseminate. The Disseminate step do not conduct because of the limitation of the researcher. Subject of the research consist of 4 validators and practicalities test conducted by 2 teacher and 20 students of SMAN 1 Lengayang second grade class XI-IPA3. The result of validity test pictorial handout with mind map by validators, indicated that pictorial handout with mind map was valid criteria, that is 86,74%, in terms of   didaktik aspect, contruction and technigue. The result of practicalities test a pictorial handout with mind map by the teacher showed that pictorial handout  with mind map in practical criteria, that is 86,38%, from the practicalities students test84,99% in practical criteria. Based on the result of the research with mind map in Biological variety maretial for SMA first grade class X that have been resulted valid and practical.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The  less  availability of  handout  for  the  Senior  High  School students  had  made  the learning process not  run as  it  was expected. Therefore, a creative and  innovative  effort  was required to  provide learning  materials for Biology subject  especially those related to  Human Regulation System topic. The aim of this research was to produce a contextual-based handout for teaching  Human Regulation System topic for Senior High School students and to  reveal the validity and  practicality of the product. This was a developmental research which used  4-D models. The research findings showed that the handout developed was valid. This could be seen from the result of the validation test done by the lecturers and teachers in which the validation score was 83,13%. The handout was also practical in which the score given by the teachers was84,71% and the score given by the students was 73,67%. Based on these results, it was concludedthat the contextual-based handout developed for teaching Human Regulation System topics forSenior High School students was valid and practical.

Abstract

ABSTRAC This researchis refering to the result of the biology student in learning process at SMPN 2 Batang Anai. All this because of some factors, such as the students are not active in learning process. And prefer to wait and listen to the teachers explaination. They do not want to ask the question about the material that they dont really understand. One of the best way to increase the result of learnig process is cooperative learning model type numbered head together (NHT) following by handout. The aim of this research is to know about the result of learning process in using kooperatif learning type numbered head together (NHT) following by handout to the students in VIII class at SMPN 2 Batang Anai. This reasearch called experiment reaserch by using randomized control group posttest only desingn. The population in this research is VIII class at SMPN 2 Batang Anai in 2013/2014 that consits of 8 classes. Sample is taken by using purposive sampling technique,so that, it found 2 classes sampling with random. The result, there are VIII6 class as a  experimental class and VIII7 class as a control class. The data is analyted by using t- tes with corelation by real step 0,05. The result of data analysis is found t hitung 1,93 where as t tabel 1,67. It  means the cooperative learning model type numbered head together (NHT) following by handout can improve the result of students biology in learning process is better than before in VIII class at SMPN 2 Batang Anai.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The result of biology learning process of VIII grade in SMP 2 Batang Kapas is low, because the learning process that has been done for all this time only listening, watching, and doing tasks given by teacher. Students are not be able to connect the facts were found when solving problem. Students only memorize the facts, but they can not understand that facts by their own mind. This leads them to a monotonous situation and students become inactive in the learning process. The consequences are students feel boring fast, don’t get serious in learning process, and finally, the lessons are felt difficult to learn by students. The purpose of this observation was to compare the outcomes of biology learning process of students using the types of cooperative learning model, that are Numbered Head Together (NHT) and Teams Assisted Individualization (TAI) of VIII Grade in SMP N 2 Batang Kapas. This study has been done in September-October2013 in eighth grade in  SMP N 2 Batang Kapas in first term. This research is an experimental research design with Randomized Control Group posttest Only Design. The population of this research is the eighth grade students of SMP N 2 Batang Kapas listed on the Academic Year2013/2014. Technic data analysis used was t test. Based on the result of the analysis of the data found that both classes of normally distributed and homogeneous samples. Hypothesis test results obtained thitung value of 1.03 while ttable 1.67, meaning thitung <ttable, then the hypothesis in this study is H0  is accepted. It can be concluded that there is no difference in learning outcomes biology students using cooperative learning model Numbered Head Together (NHT) with type Teams Assisted Individualization (TAI) VIII grade in first term in SMP N 2 Batang Kapas.

Abstract

ABSTRACT White Oyster mushroom is kinds of wood mushroom. In cultivation it, generally the society used hay and sawdust as media plant. In West Pasaman the media plant difficulties get. So, require to find another alternative media that is using empty bunch of oil palm which not yet been exploited optimally by society. Chalk addition used for setting the plant pH media to approach neutral situation. This research have been done in August 2013 until January 2014 in Padang. This Research used Experimental method and Complete Random Device (RAL) in 5 treatment chalk heavy of dolomid and 4 times repetition, is : A0: 0 gr/baglog, A1: 7,5 gr/baglog, A2: 15 gr/baglog, A3: 22,5 gr/baglog, A4:30 gr/baglog. The heavy of oil palm bunch that used is about 500gr/baglog. Based on this research, got result that giving chalk of dolomid at media of oil palm bunch can improve white oyster mushroom production and growth. The average of long spreading miselium quickest about 24 day at A2 treatment, the average of most fruiting body 14,80 at A3 treatment, wet heavy average of fruit body 68 gram at A3 treatment of and the diameter of fruiting body cover highest were 8,58 cm at A1 treatment.

Abstract

 ABSTRACT Tabir  river  is one of the major  rivers and  a confluence of several  tributaries in Rantau Panjang Subdistrict Tabir, Merangin District of Jambi Province. Recently, many human activities pollute the waters of the Tabir River.  Theses of pollution derived from mining stone, sand, gold and other human activities. This research aims to identify the species of fish that live in the Tabir river.The study was conducted from October until November 2013 in the Tabir river. Identification of samples was performed at the Museum of Zoology Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Andalas University, Padang. This study used a descriptive survey method.There are 16 species, 6 families and 4 of the order were found, namely: Barbichthys leavis, Epalizeorhynchos kalopterus, Hampala macrolepidota, Labeobarbusfestivus, Mystacoleucusmarginatus, Osteochilus chini, Puntius sp. , Osteochilus pleurotaenia, Rasbora argyotaeniaand Tor   tambra   (family   Cyprinidae).   Furthermore,   Acantopsis   octoactinos   offamily   Cobitidae   of   ordo Cypriniformes, Leiocassis robustus, Mystus bimaculatus from family Bragidae, Acrochordonichtys chamaelon of family Siluridae of ordo Siluriformes, Osphronemus gouramy offamily Anabantidae from ordo Labyrinthici. The last species was Tetradon sabahensis of familyTetraodontidae from the ordo of Tetraodontiformes. The results of measurements of physico-chemical factors in the Tabir river were temperature of 26 ° C-27 ° C, pH of6-7 and the flow velocity ranged from 0.098 M/det-0, 0316 M /det.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The role of insects beneficial or detrimental. One of the harmful insects that horn beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros L.). Horn beetle attack is one of the plants palm trees. Horn beetle attack oil plant on productive phase by way of gnawing and sucking fluids and eat the contents of the palm fruit. Horn beetle attack can cause cavities and palm fruit becomes damaged so as to result in a decrease in crop production . The purpose of this study was to determine the population density of horn beetle Oryctes rhinoceros L.  (Coleoptera :  Scarabaeidae) on palm trees in  the  District Surantih Kanagarian Silk South Coastal District. This study was conducted in September 2013 with a descriptive survey method is the direct collection of the existing horn beetle research sites. Sampling was done at night from 19:00 to 21:00 oclock pm with a random sampling technique to plant oil palm. Sampling is done directly by hand and then using tweezers tool samples that have been obtained in the field is inserted into the bottle collection that already contains alcohol and taken  to  the  laboratory  for  identification  Andalas  University.  Based  on  the  results,  the characteristics of beetle horn shape or elongated ovoid, dark brown, shiny, has a horn on the head, the body length of 42-45 mm, 3-5 mm long horn and width 16-21 mm, male beetles have longer horns than the female beetles, beetle females have hair on the tip of the abdomen while the male beetle does not have hair on the tip of the abdomen, horn beetle population densities obtained on palm trees in the District Surantih Kanagarian Silk South Coastal District is 0,5 head/trunk and intensity categorized attacks still below the threshold .
