Abstract

Racism is a difference in treatment and equality against certain groups, this phenomenon often occurs, causing various kinds of conflicts in society. Theodore Melfi as the director of Hidden Figures and Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of the film Just Mercy, depicts a visualization portrait of the issues of racism in American society with a different background through cinematography. The purpose of this study is to find out how the meaning of denotation, the meaning of connotation and myth as well as the similarities and differences of signs of racism shown in the film Hidden Figures and the film Just Mercy. This study uses a qualitative research method with semiotic analysis of Roland Barthes. The data obtained by the method of observation, documentation and literature study. The data analysis unit was selected based on the scenes depicting signs of racism as many as 14 scenes, 7 out of 104 scenes from the movie Hidden Figures and 7 out of 119 scenes from the movie Just Mercy. Technique Checking the validity of the data using triangulation. The results of this study indicate that (1) the meaning of denotation, real examples of attitudes, behaviors and words or acts of racism that black people get from white people. (2) The meaning of connotation, it is seen that white people still look down on black people. (3) The meaning of myths, how ideologies and stereotypes are passed down from generation to generation. Comparative analysis, which is to see the similarities and differences in the signs of the two films, lies in the issues raised. The difference is, if Hidden Figures tells of discrimination in employment, Just Mercy tells of discrimination in the legal justice system for black citizens. Both films demonstrate the behavior that is displayed to explain the current type of racism generated by history and global society. Keywords: Comparative Analysis, Meaning, Racism, Film

Abstract

The problem of immigrants who come to threaten national security, especially illegal immigrants, the case of illegal immigrants is a concern for Indonesia because of the impact of their arrival. The case of immigrants from Bangladesh is one of the many cases of mmigrants who arrive, as the government of Bangladesh, its citizens are the responsibility of the Government of Bangladesh. However, the Bangladesh government seems indifferent to its citizens who violate immigration regulations in Indonesia, the study aims to find out how Indonesia's policies towards illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and how the Bangladesh government responds to its citizens who violate immigration regulations in Indonesia. This it study uses a descriptive method with technical qualitative analysis that begins with collecting, compiling, and providing valid data. The data for this study were obtained by primary techniques in the form of interview and secondary data collection from books, journals, documents and online media. These this study gives the final result in the form of deportation as a form of Indonesia's policy towards illegal immigrants from Bangladesh with costs charged to the immigrant family. Abstract

Transportation is one of the keys to the development of an area or city. The development and progress in the implementation of transportation needs to be supported by good and quality planning and development and also needs to involve various groups. As in the case that occurred in Pekanbaru City related to the planning for the construction of the Trans Metro Pekanbaru City Bus Stop. Although the operation of the Trans Metro Bus has been running, in the process there are still many people in Pekanbaru who have not used the services of the Pekanbaru Trans Metro Bus as a means of land transportation that can help facilitate traffic activities in Pekanbaru City. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the Pekanbaru City Transportation Service Planning in the Construction of the Pekanbaru Trans Metro Stop in 2020. This study aims to describe the shelter development planning by the Pekanbaru City Transportation Service. In addition, this study uses a qualitative approach and data collection techniques through interviews (interviews) and documentation. The result of this study is that the planning for the construction of shelters in Pekanbaru City carried out by the Pekanbaru City Transportation Service is carried out through a government system for the convenience of the community, in this case the Government has an important role for the construction of a good shelter. The development carried out in general has touched public roads that are easily accessible by the community so that it is easier to access them. It was also found that there were obstacles in the planning for the construction of the bus stop, such as the lack of funds owned by the Pekanbaru City Transportation Service, then the process of determining the location that had problems with the community and poor coordination between stakeholders. Abstract

Exploitative sham marriages have been identified as a form of human trafficking on the territory of the European Union. In the case of sham marriages, Ireland is the destination country for marriages by other EU citizens with third party nationals with the aim of obtaining residence permits. The problem with this phenomenon is that it is not yet known how the process of exploitative sham marriages is and its relationship to human trafficking. To deal with this problem, the Directorate General of Home Finance of the European Commission (EC) “Prevention of and Fight Against Crime Program” formed the HESTIA Project which aims to create a common understanding of sham marriage as a form of human trafficking by providing precise definitions and initiating comprehensive actions to prevention. This study uses qualitative research methods, with data collection techniques through the analysis of documents, books and journals. By conducting an analysis using the indicators of the theory of effectiveness of the international regime by Underdal which the author borrowed in this study, the HESTIA Project succeeded in meeting the effectiveness indicators such as problem type, problem solving capacity and level of collaboration. Abstract

The city of Pekanbaru has many culinary spots which make it as one of the destinations for tourists. One of the culinary spots in Pekanbaru City is Bundaran Keris culinary square. This area has a variety of food and beverages ranging from traditional to modern food. This research aims to describe the Bundaran Keris square in regards to its attractiveness, facilities, accessibility, and institutions. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method. Subjects of this research were the key informants, namely the head of the Pekanbaru City CEI, Pekanbaru City CEI staff, MSME actors, and responses from the visitors at the Bundaran Keris square. Data collection techniques used in this research were observation, interviews, literature study, and documentation. The results showed that the culinary spots in the Bundaran Keris in which where the attractions in the form of food and drinks, food stands, services, and entertainment were good. The facilities provided at the Bundaran Keris are also quite complete, starting from tables and chairs, toilets, mosques, lighting, and parking. The accessibility is also very good pertaining to transportation, road conditions, and pedestrian paths. The institution who has the responsibility to the culinary spots of the Bundaran Keris is the Pekanbaru City Community Empowerment Institute (CEI) which is also the Overseer of the Bundaran Keris culinary spots. Keywords: Culinary Spotsm, Attraction, Pekanbaru City, Bundaran Keris.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy of the International Labour Organization (ILO) through its role as an international organization in addressing the problem of child labor in Indonesia via the implementation of child labor elimination programs throughout 2017 to 2020. The ILO defines child labor as a social problem which can interfere with a child's mental and physical development. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2017, the number of child workers in Indonesia reached over 1.2 million children. Poverty is the main driving factor for child labor in Indonesia. This study utilized a qualitative methodology with data collection techniques by library studies that have sourced from books, journals, reports, articles and websites. This study similarly used the perspective of Pluralism and the theory of International Organizations Role. The results of this study indicated that the International Labour Organization (ILO) has an important role in executing its strategy in dealing with child labor issue in Indonesia which accordingly is demonstrated from the implementation of programs for the elimination of child labor. These exclusive programs in the framework of the ILO-IPEC (International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labor) which succeeded in reducing the number of child labor by 21.14% in 2018, ILO-PROMOTE (Countering Child Labor in the Domestic Sector in Indonesia) was an achievement in reaching many partners to dissolve domestic workers and child domestic workers in Indonesia through community socialization aside from media publications and The collaborative ILO-IPEC's support program for Indonesia's CCT (Conditional Cash Transfer) program, namely PKH (Family Hope Program), resulted in an increase in school enrollment and participation of children from poor families during 2019 to 2020. Abstract

This research was conducted in the Defense Strategy of Traditional Market Traders During the Covid 19 Pandemic In Teluk Kuantan, Kuantan Singingi Regency. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods. In collecting data using observation research methods, explore and also documentation. Traditional market traders and survival strategies carried out during the covid 19 pandemic. In the midst of covid 19 which has an impact on various people's lives, both socially and economically, those who also feel the impact of the pandemic are informal sector actors, one of which is small traders in traditional markets. Traditional markets are a major concern amid the development of modern markets and the existence of traders' markets in surviving the changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic is very important. Abstract

Diskominfo is one of the Dumai city government agencies that is committed to realizing electronic government within the scope of the Dumai City Government. The application of E-Absence is also in line with Mayor Regulation Number 8 of 2021 regarding the provision of additional income for employees within the Dumai City Government. The purpose of this study was to find out how the communicator strategy, message strategy, media strategy, audience strategy, the response/effect of the leader's communicant regarding the E-Absence program in increasing the discipline of the Dumai City Diskominfo office employees. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method using a strategic communication model. The research subject is the Head of the Communication and Information Technology office, as well as office employees. The object in this study is the leadership communication strategy regarding Website-based E-Attendance in increasing employee discipline by using interview, observation, and research documentation data collection techniques. triangulation. Data analysis techniques are: data presentation, comparison, and drawing conclusions. The strategy for selecting communicators is based on warrants and based on the factors that communicators must have, message strategies are grouped into two, namely informative messages in the form of appeals about switching attendance systems from manual to digital, and persuasive messages in the form of invitations from the head of department to be adaptive in implementing the new system In this case, there are two media strategies, the first is using online media in the form of websites and social media, namely Instagram and Facebook, the audience selection strategy is employees of the Dumai City Diskominfo office and other regional apparatus organizations as well as responses. The response given by the audience is a positive response, namely appreciation by leadership employees who are considered very appropriate in conveying messages so that employees are able to accept and adapt. Abstract

Covid-19 has created a very significant new change in the world of tourism where freedom of travel can no longer be as free as it used to be in the days before the pandemic, tourists cannot travel without health care. Currently, one of the resorts that is still surviving during the pandemic is Harris Resort Waterfront Batam. It is one of the four-star resorts in Batam that has good and wise use of Food Recyling, this has an impact on food costs. Harris Resort Waterfront is still in a stable condition. Food recycling is food ingredients, both processed and unprocessed, that are thrown away in vain, while there are still many uses that can be taken from food ingredients that can be reprocessed to reduce costs. Therefore, this study aims to determine the use of Food Recyling in the Kitchen Section of Harris Resort Waterfront Batam. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method to analyze problems based on data collection techniques in the form of observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Utilization of Food Recyling that is carried out is Product Recycling Terms of Reprocessing Utilization Produced by Reprocessing Based on the results of research that has been carried out, for the overall results of observations and interviews, it can be concluded that the Utilization of Food Recyling in the Kitchen Section of Harris Resort Waterfront Batam has been running according to the procedure which has been done Keywords: Hotel, Food Recycling

Abstract

The rapid interest of young people to pursue the barista’s in Indonesia is influenced by the values and existence of social media. The phenomenon of barista dramaturgy on social media shows that there is a disparity in baristas who seek this profession to fulfill their daily needs. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research approach using the purposive sampling technique. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that baristas build personal branding on social media for self-existence and increase coffee shop marketing, but in the world of work personal branding is done to improve professionalism as a barista. Baristas who make this profession their main source of income cannot meet their daily needs because the income is not commensurate with the barista's dependents and lifestyle. The front stage of the barista can be seen from the way the barista builds personal branding in the media and professionalism at work.
