Abstract

This article discusses premium sufficiency method which is used to determine the reserved gross premium of an endowment life insurance with last survivor status. The calculation of gross premium is obtained by determination of the present value of due life annuity and net premium by members of life insurance. The present value of due life annuity and net premium are expressed in the form of commutation function.

Abstract

This paper discusses three ratio regression linear estimators by Singh, Upadhyaya  and Premchandra for population mean Y using two auxiliary variables X and Z on simple random sampling which is a review of article “An Improved Version of Regression Ratio Estimator with Two auxiliary Variables in Sample Surveys”. The three estimators are biased then the minimum of the (MSE) is determined. Furthermore, their MSE are compared to each other. This comparison shows that the estimator with the minimum MSE is the most efficiensi estimator.

Abstract

This article discusses a goal programming technique for optimal vehicle routes of distribution of a product. The goal programming used is the weighted one. This technique is implemented in a real life case of distributing a product in a company. Computational experiments show that determination of vehicle routes using goalprogramming technique is more effective than using only driver knowledge, because it is able to satisfy all of goals expected in the distribution process.

Abstract

This article discusses the preconditioner for solving the linear system Ax = b, where A is of the form M-matrix, which is a review of the Zhuan-De Wang and Ting-Zhu Huang paper [Applied Mathematics Letters, 19 : 1029 − 1036 (2006)]. Numericalexperiments using some sizes of A show that the convergence rate of Jacobi and Gauss Seidel type methods can be increased using the preconditioner.

Abstract

Health insurance is one type of insurance products that specifically guarantees the cost of health or care insurance when the participants experience health problems and have to stay at the a hospital. This article discusses the amount of annual premium reserve of term health insurance for joint life status using constant force assumption, by first determining the term life annuity, single premium of health insurance and the annual premiums of term health insurance.

Abstract

This article discusses integration techniques based on the behavior of the integrand of certain functions, which is a review of a part of the article written by Clegg, D.B. and Richmond, A. N. [International of Mathematical Education in Science and Technology. 18: 4, 519-525 (1987)]. For certain functions which satisfy the properties of the symmetry behavior of the function, integral value obtained by this technique is exact despite the methods used are the midpoint method, trapezoidal method, Simpson’s method, and Gauss quadrature rules for two points.

Abstract

This article discusses the modification of Newton’s method using a slope-line approximate in a form of quadratic polynomial to solve a nonlinear equation. This iterative method has a convergence of fourth order and for each iteration, it requires three function evaluations, so the efficiency index of the method is 1.587, which isbetter than that of the Newton’s method, which is 1.414. Furthermore, the computational tests show that proposed method is superior to the Newton’s method in terms of speed to obtain a root.

Abstract

This article discusses the existence and uniqueness of the solution, which was obtained using Adomian decomposition method, of a nonlinear quadratic integral equation. The discussion was continued by providing an analytical study of the convergence and the absolute error which are obtained by the solution found using Adomian decomposition method. The process of obtaining the solution of a nonlinear quadratic integral equation using Adomian decomposition method then expanded to the modified Adomian decomposition method. Comparison using numerical computation shows that the solution of quadratic nonlinear integral equationobtained using the modified Adomian decomposition method is better than those obtained by Adomian decomposition method.
