Abstract

This article discusses the accumulated value of the immediate annuity by assuming constant force for m-times payment per year of two persons who are x  and y years old in joining term life insurance with joint life status. The constant force assumption isused in determining the accumulated value of the term immediate annuity. The accumulated value of the annuity is influenced by cash value annuity paid by the insurance participants, the interest rate, and the amount of annuity payments made by insurance participants.

Abstract

This article  discusses how to minimize total inventory cost of probabilistic model (Q,r) where condition of back order and crashing lead time are allowed. Normal distribution approach is used when the demand during the lead time is normally distributed. Themodel is used to determine when the order is made (r) and how much the quantity Q to be ordered to minimize the total cost of inventory.

Abstract

This article  discusses  the construction of the systems of Volterra integral equations from extended Lane-Emden equation. The system of Volterra integral equations of the settlement is determined by using the Adomian Decomposition Method. The Adomian decomposition method gives reliable result for analytic approximate solutions of these systems. The results are supported by investigating the example problems.

Abstract

Partial differential equations can be clasified into parabolic , elliptic, and hyperbolic equations. In this article, we discuss the correspondence between parabolic and elliptic equations of the heat equation as seen from the heat flow. Suppose u states thetemperature on the object. If the two-dimensional heat equation is not affected by the times, the heat flow in steady state and parabolic equations become elliptic equations. To solve the heat equation, we can be used with the finite difference method and thealternating direction implicit.

Abstract

Jacobi's method is an iterative method to solve a system of linear equations Ax = b.  If A is a strictly diagonally dominant matrix, Jacobi's method always converges to a solution Ax = b. In this paper,we develop the generalized Jacobi'smethod; by changing, one of the splitting matrices has to be in the form of a bandage diagonal matrix. By assumption that A is a strictly diagonally dominant matrix, we show that the generalized Jacobi's method is always convergent to a solution Ax = b.

Abstract

We discuss a preconditioned Gauss-Seidel method to solve a system of linear equation Ax = b by A which is a strictly diagonally dominant Z-matrix. Preconditioning matrix to be used is P = (I +U) −1 , where I is an identity matrix and U is a strictly upper triangular matrix. Using Neumann’s expansion to approximate P, we showthat the preconditioning matrix is equivalent to an existing preconditioning matrix of the form P = (I + βU). Numerical computations show that the proposed preconditionedGauss-Seidel method is better than the standard Gauss-Seidel method in solving a system of linear equation Ax = b.

Abstract

Abstract

The mungbean demand in the market increases but it is difficult to provide the stock because mungbean production is low due to low interest of local people to cultivate thisspecies. Riau Province has common mungbean strain, i.e. Kampar local strain that has low fruit production, unsimultaneous ripe physiological characters, and trichomes. One of the effort of plant breeding use of strain purification. The purpose of this study was to identify the second generation of local mungbean strain from Kampar that has thelowest number of pods. The experiment was conducted from April to June 2013 in the gardens of Biology, Faculty of Math and Natural Science, University of Riau using a completely randomized design. Eight strains were examined with five replications in each strain. The observed character was number of pod. Data was analyzed using SPSS 16.0. The results showed that mungbeans strains (G1, G2, G3, G4, and G6) had thelowest number of pods.

Abstract

The compounds of condensation reaction have been synthesized using microwave irradiation with a base catalyst and their antioxidant activity were evaluated. One of the result of synthesized compounds was (4-hydroxy-2,6-di(pyridin-3-yl)-4-(thiophen-2-yl) cyclohexane-1,3-diyl) bis (thiophen-2-ylmethanone) (IF). The structure of the synthesizedproduct has been elucidated using IR, 1H-NMR, 13 1 C-NMR, mass-spectroscopic data and elemental analysis. The final product was screened for its antioxidant activity. The compound exhibited low DPPH (2,2’-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) scavenging activity which gave IC50 value > 500 ppm.
