Abstract

This article studies the economic production quantity (EPQ). During the production process, the failures occur and reworking is conducted to minimize the total production cost. This study is a review of Chiu et. al [Mathematical and Computational Applications, 11(2006): 75-84]. A numerical example is given to explain the problem discussed.

Abstract

Insurance companies provide the extended insurance policy and paid up insurance to policyholders  who canceled the insurance contract.  This policy aims to prevent the insurance company and the  policyholders  from losing their money.  This article discusses the extended insurance and insurance paid up of a joint life  policyholders whose age are  x  and  y  years joining  a term life insurance program.  The evaluation of  extended insurance and paid up insurance uses the commutation symbol. Abstract

We discuss a family of iterative methods derived by giving a weight function recur-sively to the corrector of Newton’s method, which is a review of article of Herceg and Herceg publised on [Applied Mathematics and Computation, 87 (2010), 2533–2541]. Weighting with a specific index produces Super-Halley’s method. Analytically it is shown that the order of the convergence of the method is three. Furthermore, this iteration method requires four function evaluations per iteration, so its efficiency index is 1.316. Then, computational tests show that the discussed method is better than Newton’s method, and does not have significant differences with Super Halley’s method in terms of error produced.

Abstract

Chemically the composition of cow bones preparation consist  of 69% of inorganic  phase, 22% of organic phase and 9% water. The organic phase of bone contains 90% collagen. Therefore, the organic phase of cow bone can be used as a source of carbon that functions as  the active charcoal bone. Active charcoal cow  bones made of carbonization and activation process, using activator Na2CO3 with variation concentration of 2.5%; 5% and 7.5%. In this study, the active charcoal cow bones with the variation of concentration are characterizated and obtained the optimum concentration of  Na2CO3  at concentrations of 5% to 7.99% of moisture content, 13,33% of ash content, 27,164 m2/g of methylene blue adsorption and 184, 6947 mg/g of  iod adsorption. The active charcoal  cow bones with Na2CO3 5% was utilized to adsorp ions of iron (SNI 6989-4-2009), copper (SNI 6989-6-2009), sulfate  (SNI 06-2426-1991)  and cyanide  (SNI 6989-76-2011)  in  solution for  24 hours with variations of the concentration of 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 mg/L. Ions of iron and copper  were  analyzed  using an  Atomic Absorption of Spectrofotometer (AAS), while ions  of sulphate and cyanide analyzed using a Spectrofotometer UV-VIS. The  Optimum adsorption  ability  of  active charcoal  cow bones  is  99,9624%  of the iron ions at a concentration of 300  mg/L, copper ions at 99,6484%  that  obtained at a concentration of 200  mg/L, sulfate ions at 68,274% and 69,594% of cyanide ions at a concentration of 200 mg/L.

Abstract

Buffalo bone is a waste material that has not been used optimally. One alternative utilization is used as an adsorbent in the form of activated charcoal. Activated charcoal is obtained through the activation process by using Na2CO3 with optimum concentration of 5%. The results of  the  characterization  of  water content, ash content, iodium adsorption and surface area  are  5,66%; 10,21%; 207,48  mg/g  and  5,1058  m2/g respectively.  Activated charcoal adsorption capability is  potentially used for cation adsorption of Fe3+ and Pb2+ by 99,93 and 99,94%, that were analyzed using AAS. Futhermore, adsorption of SO42- ions is 52,93% that was analyzed using a UV-Vis  spectrophotometer. On the other hand, it is  not good enough for Cl- ion uptake that is 10% which was analyzed using methods Argentometry Mohr.

Abstract

We discuss a modified Taylor approximation for functions with periodic behaviour, which is a review of article of Martin et. al published on [Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 130 (2001), 91–97]. This modification is based on the work of Scheifele in obtaining a solution of a perturbed oscillator.

Abstract

This article provides an undirected graph vertex coloring. Graph vertex coloring can be done by using the coloring algorithm, including d’satur algorithm and vertex merge algorithm. Of the two algorithms, a more efficient algorithm is determined that generates chromatic number χ(G) which is the minimum or produces fewercolors. This article is a review of the work of Handrizal et. al [Journal of Computer Science 7(5):664-670].

Abstract

This paper discusses how to obtain a polynomial solution of linear Fredhlom integrodifferential equation with constant coefficients using a matrix method. The Linear Fredhlom integro-differential equation with constant coefficients and its initialboundary conditions are tranformed into a matrix, resulting a system of linear equations. Polynomial solutions of linear Fredhlom integro-differential is obtained by solving the system of linear equations.

Abstract

Mangrove is vegetation that grows at the low tide area and the coastal region. A vegetation research analysis of mangrove had been done in Tapian Nauli I Village, Tapanuli, North Sumatra Province from April to May 2013. The aim of this study was to analyze the vegetation of mangrove forest. The method used in this study was a survey method, using a nested sampling. The parameters observed in this research were species compositions and important value index. The result showed that six mangrove species were identified. The highest density for seedling (26%) and for sapling stage (23%) were found at Avicennia marina, while for tree stage (30%)was found at Rhizophora apiculata. The highest dominance for seedling and sapling stage were found at Aveicennia marina and Rhizophora apiculata(24%), while for tree was found at Rhizophora apiculata (28%). The highest frequency for seedling (28,47% ) and sapling (27,47%) were found at R. marina while for tree stage was found at Rhizophora apiculata (28.46%). The highest importance value index at seedling (78,47%) and sapling stage (74,27%) were found at Aveicennia marina while for the tree stage was found at Rhizophora apiculata (86.46%).
