Abstract

We discuss a relaxation of Newton method, obtained by introducing a functioncomposed of the original function in an existing problem and its derivative. This methods consists of two parameters. Certain values of the parameters give several known iterative methods. Using Taylor expansion, we show that the method is of order two. We compare the relaxation of Newton method with other known existing methods using some test functions by looking at the number of the methods obtaining the roots of the problem and using Basins of Attraction.

Abstract

This article discusses the solution of nonhomogeneous linear partial differential equa-tions of first order and homogeneous nonlinear partial differential equations of second order using Adomian decomposition method. The obtained solution is of the form series. In the series solution of nonhomogeneous linear partial differential equations of the first order appears noise terms phenomenon, which is the same terms but with opposite sign, so that the solution obtained is a finite series.

Abstract

Batang Lubuh river has significant value to communities living close to the river. Generally, the people take some advantages from the river, such as for household activities (bath, washing and dumping the waste) and fishery. In addition, the river shed is such a beneficial for agriculture and mining. The use of macrozoobenthos as an indicator to identify the change of water quality was reported by some authors, but the information from Riau Province is scarce. The purpose or this research is to know the community structure or Macrozoobenthos at Batang Lubuh river, sub – district Rambah, Rokan Hulu Regency. Sampling was conducted using Eckman Grab 20 cm x 11 cm at 5 station along Batang Lubuh river of sub district Rambah, Rokan Hulu Regency. During this research we found two species of macrozoobenthos, Brotia costula family Thiaridae and Pila scutata family Ampullaridae. The abundance of macrozobenthos in study area was 408 ind/m2. Besides, we also found that Brotia costula as the dominant species. Regression analysis revealed that the correlation between physical and chemical factors such as temperature, brightness, depth, flow velocity, COD and phosphate on macrozoobentos was negative. In addition, DO and nitrate have a positive correlation to macrozoobenthos, while pH and turbidity have no correlation to macrozoobenthos.

Abstract

This research aims to operate an instrument system acquisition data multi channel by measuring the humidity sensors grounded by using gypsum. The censorship is made of gypsum material printed as cylindrical shape with a diameter (d) of 18 mm and length (l) of 20 mm. The circuit of main equipment uses microcontroller based on ATmega8 that can operate from 2.7 Volt until 5.5 Volt. It can be passed by the current of 3.6 A and integrated to ADC type ADS7822 and DAC7611 with high voltage of 4.96 volt. The circuit of programme uses an application WinAvr with Language C. By operating the instrument system, the acquisitions data 16 channels tested at agricultural land from the regions Kartama. The circuit was operated on moisture land of 15%, 20%, 25%, and 30% compared with Lutron Kallibrator. After testing that equipment a general Equation was obtained, where this mathematical model can describe the relationship between the electrodes of voltage (Uo) of moisture land (èw). The Equation obtained from the testing is the empirical solution depending on soil type.

Abstract

We discuss a basic concept of variational iteration method for solving partial differential equations. Variational iteration method, which can be used for finding iterative formula, consists of three basic concepts, namely a general Lagrange multiplier, a restricted variation and a correction functional.

Abstract

This article discusses the preconditioner to solve a system of linear equations Ax = b, with A in the form L-matrix, which is a review of articles DJ Evans, et al. [Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 132: 461-466 (2001)]. Analytically we show that the spectral radius of the iteration matrix of the preconditioned AOR method is smaller than the spectral radius of the iteration matrix of a standard AOR method. The analytical results are supported by numerical computations where it appears that the preconditioned AOR method gives fewer number of iterations compare to the standard AOR method in solving given systems of linear equations Ax = b.

Abstract

This article discusses an alternative formula to obtain the particular solution of non-homogeneous linear dierential equations of constant coecients, where the nonhomogeneous terms are in the form of a trigonometry, an exponent or a polynomial function, using the multiplication of a polynomial with a complex exponential function. The particular solution obtained is in the form of a polynomial.

Abstract

The analysis of material dispersion on Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) by using silica material for the core and cladding with germania-doped silica material has been determined. FBG is used for multi mode. Parameters that fluctuate in this study is the grating length of FBG while the value of the period, the modulation index and the amount of grating is keptconstant.   The method used is OptiGrating software, which is a software evaluating a transfer matrix to analyze the grating on the FBG. The results showed the higher value of long-grating given in FBG, the lower valley formed transmission coefficients. The pattern of the transmission coefficients of FBG found the difference between FBG dispersed material and no dispersed material. The dispersed material produced some FBGtransmission coefficients with a certain value where the bigger one has the pattern point value the lower the transmission coefficients is produced. The FBG with no  material dispersion results the constant of the transmission coefficients.

Abstract

This study is to determine the crystal structure of Ba0.9Sr0.1TiO3 with X-ray diffraction. The process of making the material Ba0.9Sr0.1TiO3 is mixing the powder material Barium Carbonate (BaCO3), Strontium Carbonate (SrCO3) and Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) which uses solid state reaction method with a ratio 0.9: 0.1: 1. Furthermore, the compounds are mixed and crushed using a mortal after it is heated at 4000C for 15 minutes and made the pellets by using Hydraulic Press. Pellets that have been made is heated for 1 hour with 600, 700 and 8000C and characterized using X-ray diffraction. The result is in the form of 2Ө angle as a function of intensity. The highest peak of the threesamples contained the hkl plane (1 1 0) at for 2Ө = 31.760 is 1045 (au) for temperature of 8000C,while the lowest peak contained the hkl plane (2 1 0) is the diffraction angle 2Ө = 51.240 with 113intensity (au) at a temperature of 6000C.

Abstract

This article discusses a modified family of multi-p oint iterative method, which is free from second derivative, obtained by mo difying the Chebyshev-Halley-type method. Analytically using Taylor expansion and geometric series, we show that the method has convergence order of three and four. Further by varying the value of the parameter in the formula, we obtain some third order iterative metho ds free secondderivative. Then using some test functions, the prop osed metho d is compared with several known multi-p oint iterative metho ds of order three and four.
