Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of different sugar concentrations on the quality of candy dried shoot. This study used Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and four replications. The treatments used for candy dried shoot P1 (shoot immersion with sugar 40%), P2 (shoot immersion with sugar 50%), P3 (shoot immersion with sugar 60%), and P4 (shoot immersion with sugar70%). The obtained were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance  and Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at 5% level. The results showed that the sugar concentration had a significant effect on water content, ash content, sucrose content, and sensory assessment descriptively and hedonic. The selected treatments were P4 (70% sugar immersion with water content (18.37%), ash content (1.99%), sucrose content (48.14%), brownish white color, slightly scented shoot, tasty candy shoot, and the overall assessment of candy dried shoot favored by the panelists.Keywords: Candied dried, shoot, and sugar concentration.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the farming and the ability to pay the loan Ex UPP TCSDP Taluk Kuantan sub units Kuantan Mudik. This research was conducted by survey method where a representative sample is taken from the three villages, each village with purposive sampling (intentionally) as many as 10 respondents, so the total respondents as many as 30 respondents. The results showed that the productivity of rubber plantations Ex TCSDP as much as 2989.57 kg ojol / ha / year and the plantations of non TCSDP as much as 2136.46 kg ojol/ ha / year. In 1997, average loan principal is Rp. 856,685.17, lending (12% / year) is Rp. 1,384,079.16 and total credit debt of Ex TCSDP farmers until 1997 was Rp. 2,240,764.33. In 2015, the average interest rate that must be paid the farmer is Rp. 3,234,519.12 and the average loan was repaid farmer is Rp. 703,130.09. The average credit debt that must be paid by the farmer is Rp. 3,388,074.20. Rubber of Ex TCSDP plantation revenue of Rp. 4,071,245.83 while the farmer household expenditure is Rp. 26,118,133.33 so that farmers can not afford to pay for the credit. But when viewed from the total income (household income) is Rp. 27,857,456.67 larger than the household expenses by 22 (73.33%) of farmers unable to pay the loan Former UPP TCSDP. Keywords : Rubber Farmers , Credit , Productivity , TCSDP

Abstract

The aim of the research was studied the effect of application of organik and inorganik ameliorants on the growth of pre nursery oil palm seed (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) on Ultisol subsoil. This research was done at Bina Widya Campus of Riau University, Km. 12,5 Panam, Pekanbaru. The field research used Soil Science Laboratory and Agriculture Faculty. This research used statistic factorial in Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The first is organic ameliorant consist of oil palm empty fruit bunches compost (OPEFBC) and cocopeat (C) with 6 levels (O0= without ameliorant, O1= 100 g OPEFBC, O2= 100 g C, O3= 50 g OPEFBC + 50 g C, O4= 50 g OPEFBC + 100 g C, O5= 100 g OPEFBC + 50 g C), the second is inorganic ameliorant consist of drges and fly ash with 4 levels (A0= without  ameliorant, A1= 50 g dregs, A2= 50 g fly ash and A3= 25 g dregs + 25 g fly ash)/ 2 kg soils. The result of combination organic ameliorant (50 g OPEFBC + 100 g C) and inorganic ameliorant (50 g fly ash) increased plant hight, number of leaves, stem diameter and leaf area compared to control and application of organic ameliorant (100 g OPEFBC) and inorganic ameliorant (50 g dregs, fly ash or mix).  Keywords: OPEFBC, cocopeat, fly ash, dregs

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to get the best combination of crabapple mangrove (Sonneratia caseolaris) and red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus).  The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications. The treatments were PNm1 (ratio numbers crabapple mangrove and red dragon fruit tingles 100 : 0), PNm2 (ratio numbers crabapple mangrove and red dragon fruit tingles 75 : 25), PNm3 (ratio numbers crabapple mangrove and red dragon fruit tingles 50 : 50) dan PNm4 ratio numbers crabapple mangrove and red dragon fruit tingles 25 : 75). The data obtained were analyzed statistically using Anova and DNMRT at 5% level.  The results show that use of crabapple mangrove and red dragon fruit significantly affected on moisture, ash contents, acidity (pH), sucrose contents crude fiber contents and organoleptic test. The best treatment of fruit leather from this research was PNm2 which had moisture 17,89%, ash contents 0,92%, acidity (pH) 3,53, sucrose contents 57,31%, crude fiber contents 6,95%, red color, a little bit crabapple mangrove flavour, acidity sweetness taste, the texture was a little bit springy and assessment of color, flavor, taste and texture of fruit leather was preferred by the panelist’s.   Keyword: fruit leather, crabapple mangrove, red dragon fruit

Abstract

The study aims to determine the effect of tofu waste POC, coconut water as a natural growth regulator and their interaction as well as to get a POC concentration of coconut water waste out and deliver the highest on the growth and production of green beans.This study was conducted at experimental field of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru. The study was conducted over three months, from November 2016 - January 2017.Research conducted experimentally in the field using a factorial RAK, which consists of two factors. The first factor is the concentration of POC waste out (T), namely: T0: 0%, T1: 25%, T2: 50%, T3: 75%. The second factor is the concentration of coconut water (K), namely: K0: 0%,      K1: 25%, K2: 50%, K3: 75%. Of the two factors were obtained by 16 combination treatment and each repeated 3 times so that there are 48 experimental units. Observations on this research that plant height (cm), number of primary branches (branch), age appears interest (HST), number of pods/plants (peas), the percentage of peas pithy (%), weight of pods/plant (g), weight of the pods/plot (g), dry weight of seed/plant (g), the dry weight of seeds/m2 (g) dry weight of 100 seeds (g). Results were analyzed using analysis of variance, if significantly different from continuing use HSD test level of 5%. The results showed that administration of tofu waste POC concentration 75% increase seed dry weight/m2. Provision of coconut water concentration of 50% increased plant height and age appearsmemepercepat interest, whereas the concentration of coconut water, giving 75% increase in dry weight of 100 seeds. Giving out waste POC concentration of 25% and 50% coconut water concentration gives the number of pods/plant, pod weight/plant, pod weight/dry weight of 100 plots and the highest seed. Giving out waste POC concentration showing 75% dry weight of seed/m2 highest green bean plant that is 9.58 g/m2, equivalent to 59.87 kg/ha. Keywords : Growth and production, green beans, POC waste out, coconut water.

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the effect of the interaction of chicken manure and ash rice straw on peatlands and get a better dose of growth and yield of soybean. This research was conduct on randomized block design of factorial that consist of two factors. The first factor was the ash rice straw, with 3 levels 0 ton/ha, 3 ton/ha and 6 ton/ha and the second factor was the chicken manure fertilizer with 4 levels of 0 ton/ha, 5 tons/ha, 10 ton/ha and 15 ton/ha. The result showed that the ash rice straw and chicken manure fertilizer significantly effect of rate plant growth and weight 100 seeds, but the effect was not significantly on weight nodule, leaf area index, age of flowering plants, harvesting, the percentage of pods phity, number of seeds per plant, harvest index and seed yield per m2. The highest yield in soybean was obtained on giving of 6 tons/ha ash rice straw and 15 ton/ha of chicken manure fertilizer was 3.22 ton/ha increase of 25.27% of the without treatment, while the giving of ash rice straw 6 ton/ha and chicken manure fertilizer 10 ton/ha was 3.17 ton/ha increase 23.71% of the without treatment and giving of ash rice straw 6 ton/ha and chicken manure fertilizer 5 ton/ha was 3.08 ton/ha increase 20.31% of the without treatment. Keyword: Soybean,  Ash rice straw, Chicken manure fertilizer, Peatland.

Abstract

Wildlife Reserve is a forest sanctuary to live wildlife which has a typical value and benefit to science and culture as well as a wealth and national pride. The condition of Kerumutan wildlife reserve region have been damaged, as it was need research on disturbances in the area ofwildlife reserve and approach to society to determine public perceptions in the completion of disruption that occurred in the area. Kerumutan Wildlife Reserve (WR) designated as protected areas by decree of the Minister of Agriculture No. 350/Kpts/II/6/1979.When designated size of the area is 120.000 ha. Once delineated, size of the area is 92.000 ha area with an additional 93.222 ha of land. Disruption that occurred last five years over is the disruption of illegal logging. Disturbance such wildlife hunting is no longer exist because it has maximal treatment used such arrest of the perpetrators and the container of fauna and alsothere was a difficulty of marketing on fauna. The disturbance of forest fires and land from the information obtained by the people and related offices occurred in the border area of  Kerumutan wildlife reserve. Forest and land fires are not happen within the region Kerumutan Wildlife reserve. As an alternative solution based on the perception of of society is the approach of the government to society, education or socialization of management policies and the society participated in the surveillance area, maximizing existing regulatory and human resources development.Keywords: Wildlife Reserve, Illegal logging, Society

Abstract

This research aims to determine the interaction of sawdust mulch and fermented cow urine and to get the best dose to the cocoa seedlings growth.This study has been conducted at the Experimental Garden, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau fromJune to October 2016 using Completely Randomized Design 2 factors of ie : (1) thedose of sawdust mulch(0, 150, 250, 350 g/polybag)and (2)fermented cow urine (concentration 0, 10, 20, 30%) with 3 replications. Each experimental unit consisting of 2 sample, so it takes 96 seeds.The parameters were observed are temperature and humidity, observation of growth, plant height, girth trunk, number of leaves, root volume, dry weight seedlings  and shoot and roots ratio.The results showed that the interaction of sawdust mulch dose of 150 g/polybag and fermented cow urine concentration of 30% significantly a effect on roots ratio. Sawdust mulch gives the best treatment results with dose of 350 g/polybag effect on temperature and humidity, number of leaves and root volume. Cow urine concentration 0f 30% gives the best results in improving plant height, girth trunk, number of leaves and dry weight seedlings. Keywords:Sawdust Mulch, Fermented Cow Urine, Cocoa Seedlings

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of concentration of liquid organic fertilizer and determine the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer is best for growth and production of lettuce plants at different spacing. The experiment was conducted in experimental garden of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau on March 2017 until May 2017. This experiment was conducted experimentally by using Randomized Plot Design with Randomized Block Design consisting of 3 levels of spacing, namely: J1 = 15 cm x 15 cm, J2 = 20 cm x 20 cm, J3 = 25 cm x 25 cm, and liquid organic fertilizer consisting of 4 levels, namely: P1 = Without the application of liquid organic fertilizer, P2 = 1 ml/l water, P3 = 2 ml/l water, P4 = 3 ml/l water. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, total weight of plant, consumption weight of plant, crown dry weight, root dry weight and dry weight of plant. The data obtained were analyzed statistically with fingerprint and then tested further with DNMRT at 5% level. Provision of liquid organic fertilizer affect the growth of lettuce plants and the application of liquid organic fertilizer concentration of 3 ml/l of water at plant spacing of 25 cm x 25 cm showed the best results in improving the growth and production of lettuce. Keywords : organic liquid fertilizer, plant spacing, lettuce

Abstract

          The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of charcoal briqutte charcoal mixture of wood chips with charcoal rubber seed No- quality according to SNI 01-6235-2000. Research using completely randomized design (CRD) with charcoal treatment comparison wood chips and coconut shell charcoal rubber seed (K0 = 100%: 0%); (K1 = 90%: 10%); (K2 = 80%: 20%); (K3 = 70%: 30%); (K4 = 60%: 40%); (K5 = 50%: 50%). The results showed that variations in mix charcoal wood chips and coconut shell charcoal rubber seeds significantly affect the density,press charcoal briquettes, moisture content, levels of substance evaporates, ash content, bound carbon content and calorific value briquettes. The result showed that the best treatment in treatment K5 namely charcoal briquettes are made with 50% charcoal wood chips and 50% charcoal rubber seed with higher levels of density 0,901 g/cm3, firmness press of 0,466 kg/cm2, the water content of 2,86%, levels of substance evaporates 36,04%, ash content 5,11%, bound carbon content 58,84%, calorific value of 5492,438 cal/g.
