Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of concentration and fermentation durationand the best concentration at each fermentation time of fruit and vegetable waste to rose varieties baby rose, conducted inthe Facultyof Agricultur, Riau University from April to July 2017. This research using a randomized block design (RAK) consisting of two factors and three replications. The first factor was the concentration of fermented fruit and vegetable waste with five levels, i.e. 0 ml.l-1 water,  5 ml.l-1 water, 10 ml.l-1 water, 15 ml. l-1 water and 20 ml. l-1 water. The second factor was the duration of fermentation fruit and vegetable waste with of three levels, namely 10 days of fermentation, 20 days fermentation and 30 days of fermentation. Parameters measured were the number of crop shoots, shoot length, when the first flowers appear, flower stem length, petal number and the number of florets crop planting. The results showed that the concentration wastes fermented fruits and vegetables can increase the number of shoots per plant, shoot length, when the first flowers appear, flower stem length, diameter flowers bloom, petal number per florets and the number of buds per plant. Treatment concentrations of 5-20 ml.l-1 water better than the treatment 0 ml.l-1 water. Treatment of 5ml.l-1water is the best treatment to increase the number of florets per plant, while the fermentation treatment does not give effect to all parameters. Treatment concentrations of 5 ml.l-1 water on a long fermentation 10, 20 and 30 days is the best treatment to increase the number of florets per plant. Keywords: roses, concentration, fermentation

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the degree participant of member Mulia Coorporation in vilage Sari Makmur, Pangkalan Lesung in palelawan regency. This research used survey method.This research was using random sampling. The total sample thus research was 41 people. The sample found randomly from 500  mamber Mulia Coorporation. The colecting data of this research was using primary data and secondary data. To analize the degree and problems at participant of this research was using descritive method. To obtain the degree of participantion of getting result at meeting, implementation of participation in cooperation activities, participant to gain the function of service, and evalution of programs cooperation. The degree of members participation measured by using quisioner of likert scale the degree of members participant of members Mulia Cooperation in Sari Makmur , Pangkalan lesung, Pelalawan Regency was high with score 3,60  high of the degree participant on member Mulia Cooperation support by high partipant members on meeting, implemantion, service, also evolution program of cooperation. In another side the programs Mulia Cooperation in Sari makmur, Pangkalan Lesung, Pelalawan regencyhad some problems that related by the  degree of participant were pasif on cooperation activities, attedenc, lack gave ideas on meeting, less armada dum truck, and participant on activiy and evolution of programs Mulia Cooperation.Keywords : The Degree of participant, peformace of Member, Cooperation, KUD Mulia

Abstract

Local wisdom is one of the products of culture, local wisdom born of the need for values, norms and rules that serve as  model to ferform an action. Local wisdom is a cultural values taught by our ancestors to better appreciate nature and do not be greedy draining.the purpose of this study is to identify the local wisdom that there ever existed and that there is also present in the environment of rice farming. Analyzing the application of lokal wisdom in rice In Village Sungai Manau Subdistrict Kuantan Mudik. Know the strategy of maintaining the local in the cultivation of the rice crops. This study used survey method to determine the respondents use key informan and sample. Methods of sampling done snowball sampling.Samples takeken as many as eleven people. This research uses primary data and secondary data. Data have been obtained in the fileld were analyzed descriptively qualitative. To describe the identification of variable and variable application of lokal wisdom rice farmers used 5W+1H. While to analyze variables by maintaining lokal wisdom analysis SWOT. The results snowed that (1) Identify and (2) Application of lokal wisdom in rice cultivation amounted 66. (3) How to maintain local wisdom of cultivation in particular by addressing new or modern tehnology advances that can change the behavior of farmers who still use traditional as local wisdom is changed by using modern tools.       Key words:Localwisdom, identification, farmer.

Abstract

Non-Timber forest products are both bio-vegetable and animal biodiversity products and their derivative and cultivation products except for timber. The role of non-timber forest product in the village of people’s love affects three aspects: it plays a role in helping the economy, labor and education. The types of non timber forest products utilized by the people of Cintarakyat village are palm sugar, gelugur acid, rubber, cinnamon, arecanut and candlenut. The average income earned by the villagers Cintarakyat from the use of non-timber forest products is Rp. 19.796.100,-/head of household per year and the average income beyond the utilization of non-timber forest products is Rp. 8.634.100,-/head of household  per year.Keywords : Non-Timber Forest Product, Income, Community, Cintarakyat Village

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the yield and seed quality of four sorghum cultivars at different plant spacing and find out proper plant spacing for each sorghum cultivars. This research was conducted at the Agriculture experiment station and in the plant breeding laboratory, Riau University from April 2015 to Agustus 2015. Research conducted an experiment using a randomized block design (RBD), which consists of two factors, the first factor is a cultivar of sorghum which consists of cultivars Patir 9, Patir 10, Pahat and Mandau, the second factor is the spacing of which is comprised of a spacing of 75 cm x 15 cm, 75 cm x 20 cm and 75 cm x 25 cm, in order to obtain 12 test combinations and repeated 3 times so that there are 36 experimental units. Observational data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance and continued with further test Tukey. The parameters were observed among panicle length, seed weight per panicle, seed weight per m2, weight of 1000 seeds, harvest moisture, test first count, germination test, speed test germination, plumula length, radicle length.The results showed that sorghum cultivars with a spacing of 75 cm x 15 cm tends to give the highest yield in cultivars Patir 9 (4.19 ton / ha), Mandau (4.01 ton/ ha), Pahat (3.58 ton/ ha) and Patir 10 (3,19 ton / ha). Cultivars Patir 9 and Mandau with a spacing of 75 cm x 15 cm have a higher yield potential than the two other cultivars tested. Plant spacing did not affect seed quality on all cultivars tested. Keywords: sorghum cultivars, plant spacing, yield and seed quality

Abstract

This research aims to determine the interaction of oil palm bunch ashand N fertilizer and to get the best dose to the cocoa seedlings growth on peat media. This research was conducted from Desember 2016 to March 2017. This research is a 4 x 4 factorial experiment arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications. The first factor is oil palm bunch ash with four levels namely 0, 2,5, 5 and 7,5 tons/ha. The second factor was the N fertilizer with four levels namely 0, 0,12, 0,16 and 0,20 tons/ha. Parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves,girth trunk, root volume, shoot roots ratio and the dry weight. The results showed that the interaction of oil palm bunch ash and N fertilizeronnumber of leaves,girth trunk, root volume, and the dry weight was significantlyaffect, the best treatment can be obtained by providing a dose of oil palm bunch ash7,5 tons/ha and N fertilizer0,20 tons/ha. Oil palm bunch ashgives the best treatment results with dose of 7,5 tons/ha significantly affect on plant height, number of leaves, girth trunk, root volume, shootroots ratioand dry weight. Provision of N fertilizer to the cocoa seedlings significantly affect on plant height, number of leaves, girth trunk, root volume, shootroots ratioand dry weight and providing ofN fertilizer0,20 tons/ha is best dose.Keywords:Oil palm bunch ash, Fertilizer N, Cocoa seedlings

Abstract

The Purpose of this study was to obtain the effect concentration of phosphoric acid (H3PO4) as an activator in making of activated charcoal from durian shell. This study used a completely randomized design (RAL) with 4 treatments and 4 replications which followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at level 5%. The treatments of this research were AA1 (concentration of H3PO4 5%), AA2 (concentration of H3PO4 10%), AA3 (concentration of H3PO4 15%), AA4 (concentration of H3PO4 20%). The parameter observed were rendement, water content, ash content, volatile substance, pure carbon, and iodine adsorption. The  result of analysis showed that the variety of concentration would significantly affect rendement, water content, ash content, volatile substance, pure carbon and iodine adsorption. The chosen treatment was AA2 (concentration of H3PO4 10%) which had rendement 92.92%, water content 13.43%, ash content 7.19%, volatile substance 2.49%, pure carbon 90.31% and iodine absorption 521.93 mg/g. Keywords: activated charcoal, durian shell, phosphoric acid

Abstract

Integrated agriculture or integrated agriculture are agricultural activities undertaken by involving or integrating agriculture in a broad sense. Cattle and Palm Oil Integration System (SISKA) is a combination of palm oil plantation management with cattle where palm oil bark is used as animal feed while livestock manure is used as a source of organic fertilizer and biogas. which aims to improveefficiency and productivity of agricultural land.so as to increase the greater revenue. This research is conducted in Kecamatan Kerumutan Pelalawan Regency which aims to know the perception of farmers on the role of the guarantor institution and the risk bearer in supporting the SISKA program. the study was conducted from June to November 2017 using survey method and census sampling technique to 5 groups of farmers applying SISKA with total of 62 farmers. Data analysis using Likert's scale. the result of the research shows that the perception of farmers on the role of the guarantor institution and the overall risk bearers is 1.98 that is in the less important category.Keywords: institution, risk, role, perception, system integration

Abstract

One of the problems that became a threat to the sustainability of the ecosystem and the balance of the farm is land degradation caused by soil erosion due to rains. Elevation and topography that concerns with the land slope also gives effect to the surface run off rate and erosion. The use of Mucuna bracteata became one of efforts to address land degradation due to surface run off and soil erosion. This research uses Split Plot Design where the land slope as the main plots and the use of Mucuna bracteata swath as sub plots. The main plots consists of 3 levels namely land slope 0 - 8%, land slope 8 - 15% and land slope 15 - 25%, whereas the sub plots consists of 2 levels, namely the use of Mucuna bracteata and without the use of Mucuna bracteata. Research results show that the land slope and the use of Mucuna bracteata effects surface run off and erosion. Significantly the existence interaction between the land slope with the use of Mucuna bracteata. The positive correlation between the intensity of rain with surface run off, and surface run off with erosion. Keywords: land slope, the use of Mucuna bracteata, surface run off, erosion

Abstract

Mealybug (Paracoccus marginatus)is a major pest on papaya. The use of alternative botanical pesticide controls that are more environmentally friendly in accordance with the concept of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). The use of botanical pesticide, such as Ocimum Sanctum. Is one of the plants that can be used as botanical pesticide. The purpose of this researchis to obtain the concentration of basil flour extract which effectively controlled the papaya mealybug.This research was conducted in the field using Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The concentration of basil flour extract treatment are 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8%.Basil leaf flour extract concentration 8% was gave the fastest time in shutting down 50% of papaya mealybug with a time 20.50 hours and papaya mealybug pest control with a mortality rate of 87.50%.Keywords: Papaya (Carica papaya), papaya mealybug (Paracoccus marginatus), basil (Ocimum sanctum)
