Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of vermicompost and bio fertilizer mycorrhizal against chemical properties of soil and yield of sweet corn. Research conducted at the Experimental Farm Unit, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau soil type inceptisol and Soil Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from February to July 2016. The study was conducted experimentally using CRBD factorial with vermicompost fertilizer the first factor, namely 56.25 g/planting hole, 84.37 g/planting hole, 112.50 g/planting hole and the second factor was the biological mycorrhizal fertilizer 5 g/planting hole, 10 g/planting hole, and 15 g/planting hole so obtained 9 combination treatments and 3 replications. Data of soil chemical parameters were analyzed descriptively and data of crop yields statistically analyzed by analysis of variance was then tested further using Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) 5%. The results showed that vermicompost fertilizer and mycorrhizal biological improved the chemistry of soil pH, organic C, total-N, P-total and CEC and affects the yield of sweet corn per plot.Keyword :sweet corn (Zea mays sacharata Sturt), vermicompost fertilizer, biological mycorrhizal, soil chemical properties

Abstract

Sumatran elephant (Elephas maximus sumatranus Temminck), is one of protected fauna.  The Elephants population depends on carrying capacity  of the habitat and feed supply in the area. This study aimed to identified species and palatability of  elephants feed. This study was done in september until december 2016 in around Gondai Village Base Langgam District Pelalawan Regency Riau Province. Based on result from this study the kind of feed often encountered is rumput kawat, alang-alang, rumput teki, and rumput segitiga. From palatability index the species of plant most liked is rumput kawat (Panicum repens), alang-alang (Imperata cylindrica raeusch), rumput teki (Cyperus sp.), and rumput segitiga (Cyperus rotundus). The species plant likes is rumput jarum (chrysopogan aciculata) dan sianik (Cyperus aromaticum), while species dislike is paku harupat (Nephrolepis bisserata), mahang (Macaranga javanica), dan pakis (Stenochlaena sp).  Keywords: Palatability, Feed, Elephas Maximus Sumatranus

Abstract

Increasing need of energy and decreasing of fuel supply requires human to discover alternative energy resources. Consequently, there should be a research to discover a new renewable energy source such as palm leaves waste. Oil palm’s leaves (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) are mostly the least used waste from oil palm plantation as an alternative energy resources. This research aims to discover the precise adhesive consentration rate in sago’s starch (Metroxylon sago Rott.) to make oil palm’s kernel, which are 97%:3%, 96%:4%, 95%:5%, 94%:6%, and 93%:7%. Based on analitycal result of oil palm’s leaves charcoal briquet research, the best quality briquet is the P1 composition which composed rate is 97%:3%, has 3,21% water content, 30,18% ashes content, 0,0022 g/s combustion rate, 20,73% evaporated substance rate, 54,46% carbon rate, and 5.114 cal/g heat value.  Keywords : briquet, oil palm’s leaves, sago starch adhesive.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of N, P and K on the growth and yield of Bima Brebes and Thailand varieties onion and the best dosage to support in ultisol soil. This research has been conducted in the field of Agricultural Extension Center, Geringging Village. Kampar Kiri, Kampar District, Riau Province. This study was conducted in 2x4 factorial experiment arranged in a randomized completely block design (RCBD) comprises two factors. The first factor is varieties consisting of two levels is Bima Brebes and Thailand. The second factor is the dose of fertilizer, N, P, and K comprising 4 levels, namely: urea 250+ TSP 150 + KCl 100 kg/ ha, urea 500 + TSP 300 + KCl 200 kg/ha, urea 750  + TSP 450 + KCl 300 kg/ha dan urea 100 + TSP 600 + KCl 400 kg/ha. Parameters measured were dry weight, weight of tuber per hill, tuber number, tuber wrap, fresh tuber weight per plot and the weight of feaseable storage of tuber per plot. The result showed that the Thailand varieties of urea fertilizer and 1000 kg/ha + TSP 600 kg/ha + KCl 400 kg/ha gives the highest yield of onion crop.Keywords : Onion, Ultisol Soil, Fertilizer N, P and K.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the influence of biogas liquid waste, the effect of N fertilizer and the interaction of the combination of biogas liquid waste fertilizer with N fertilizer, and to determine the dosage of biogas liquid waste, N fertilizer and combination of biogas liquid waste fertilizer with N fertilizer that can increase the production of plants mustard. This research was conducted experimentally using Randomized Block Design (RAK) which was arranged in factorial that consist of 2 factors.The first factor is the provision of biogas wastewater, L1 = Liquid waste fertilizer biogas 1 liter / m2, L2 = Liquid waste fertilizer biogas 3 liters / m2, L3 = Liquid waste fertilizer biogas 6 liters / m2, The second factor is the application of N fertilizer, U0 = No N fertilizer, U1 = N fertilizer 11.5 kg / ha equivalent to urea 25 kg / ha, U2 = Fertilizer N 23 kg / ha is equivalent to urea 50 kg / ha, From the above treatment, 9 combinations were obtained. Each experimental unit was repeated 3 times to obtain 27 experimental units and each unit of experiment was 20 plants, and 4 plants were taken as samples. Keywords: Biogas liquid waste, N and mustard greens

Abstract

The study was purpose to get the best combination of red bean flour and  Padang sidimpuan (Salacca sumatrana R.)bark.The research used a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications.The treatments were red bean flour 70%: bark fruit30%, red bean flour60%: bark fruit40%, red bean flour 50% : bark fruit 50%, red bean flour40%: bark fruit60%and red bean flour30%: bark fruit 70%.  The data obtained were analyzed statistically using Anova and DNMRT at 5%.Theresearch showed that using redbean flour and bark fruit were significant on water content, ash content, fat content, crude fiber content, protein content, carbohydrate content and sensory test. The best treatment of snack bar from this research was red bean flour 40% : bark fruit 30%which had water content 23,31%, ash content 1,84%,fat content 14,44%, crude fiber content 8,57%, protein content 13,45%, carbohydrate content 46,94%. light brown on colour outsideand yellowish brown on colour inside, red bean flour and fruit flavour, red bean flour and fruit taste, the texture creamy and dense and overall assesment of snack bar was  preferred by the panelists.  Keywords :Snack bar, red bean flour and bark fruit.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine seeds development pattern and seed quality  changesduring the development of some cultivars of sorghum. The researched was carried out at Faculty of Agricultural experiment station, University of Riau in Pekanbaru. The field experiment was arranged in a randomized block design, consisting of four  sorghum cultivars in three replications. The cultivars were K1=GalurPatir 9, K2 =GalurPatir 10, K3 =VarietasPahat K4 =Varietas Mandau. Parameters observed were seed fresh weight,  seed dry weight, water concentration, dry matteraccumulation rate, effective  filling period, seed yield m-2, seed weight, first count test, standard germination test, and vigor test. Seed were harvestedevery five day beginning from 5 days after antheses (DAP) to 35  (DAP). Data were analyzed by using analysis of variance at significant level of 5%. The results showed that the pattern of  seeddevelopment of all cultivars increased  slowly from 5 to 10 DAP, then increased very rapidly from 10 to 20 DAP, and reached the maximum value at 25 DAP.Following that time the dry tent to decrease until 35 DAP. While the water concentration decreased very rapidly from 5 to 25 and decreased from 25 DAP to 35 (DAP). Dry matter accumulation rate (KPBK) of all cultivars ranged from 1.15 to 1.22 (mg/seed/day), and effective filling period was about 22 days. Seed quality at harvest was very high for allcultivars  but, Patir 9 showed lower seed vigor compared toPahat, Mandau and Patir 10. Grain yield per m2was relatively equal among all cultivar with yield potential off around 3.18 to 4.9 tones per hectare. Key word : seed fresh weight, dryweight,cultivars, seed quality, sorghum

Abstract

The purpose of this study was obtained the right formulation soybean milk and beetextract in the manufactureof ice cream. The research used a Complete Randomized (CRD) with five treatments and three replications which were followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%. The treatments in this research were  KB1 (soybean milk 100), KB2 (Soybean milk 90 :beetextract10), KB3 (Soybean milk 80 :beetextract20), KB4 (Soybean milk 70 : beet extract30), KB5 (Soybean milk 60 : beetextract40). The analyze observed were overrun, melting time, total solid, fat content and sensory test.The result of analysis showed that the formulation of soybean milk and beetextractsignificantly effect on overrun, melting time, total solid, fat content and organoleptic test.The best formulation ice cream was soybean milk 90 : beet extract 10 with overrun 70.33%, melting time 18.43 minutes, total solid 37.32%, and fat content3.21%.  Organoleptic scores of the best treatment were 3.20 (pink), 3.43 (between soybean milk flavour and beet flavour), 3.27 (little soybean taste), 2.70 (little rough texture), and 4.16 (overall) assesment of ice cream.  Keywords: Ice cream, soybean milk and beet extract.

Abstract

This research aims are to know implementation of rural agribusiness development program (PUAP) and to compare the income of members Gapoktan before and after the programin Pagaran Tapah village Pagaran Tapah Darussalam District of Rokan Hulu Regency. The population of this research is a member of Sokun Tani Mandiri Gapoktan who get loan PUAPfunds in 2012, 2013 and 2014, by using Purposive sampling method total sample obtained are 31 peoples.Data analysis using GAP Analysis to evaluate the implementation of the programme with the success indicators of PUAP program (inputs, processes, outputs and outcomes) and to compare the income of Gapoktan members using the analysis of farming before and after PUAP program.The results showed the implementation of the program PUAP in Pagaran Tapah Village goes well with the total average of GAP value is 2,95 (R<3) and income of each Gapoktan members has increased after the program caused by production increased, price fluctuations, and scaling up efforts. where an increase in real incomeof palm oil maintenance farmers who got PUAP funds in 2012,2013, and 2014 are 28,69%, 35,35%, and 24,93%. For home industry who got PUAP funds in 2012 and 2013 are 33,04% and 37,00%, for fish farmers who got PUAP funds in 2013 and 2014 is 53,41% and 39,47%. The last for cattle raiser who got PUAP funds in 2013 and 2014 an increase in real income are 8,23% and 33,38%. Keywords : evaluation, PUAP program, GAP Analysis

Abstract

The purpose of this study are: (1).To determine the implementation of agricultural extension in the village of Igal; (2).To determine the role of education and the empowerment of farmers in the coconut farm self pattern; (3) To analyze the relationship counseling role towards the empowerment of farmers. This research was conducted in the village of Igal District of Mandah Indragiri Hilr. The sampling method used is purposive sampling method with consideration that the location of its extension activities and the active oil production areas. 30 self-help coconut farmers were taken as respondents. Analyzing the validity and reliability of measuring instruments. Analysis of the data to answer the first goal is to use descriptive qualitative, the second destination using a Likert scale. On the third goal using Spearman rank correlation analysis. The results showed: (1).In the implementation of the extension such as the elements of counseling in the village of Igal quite done well. (2). The average role of counseling in the Village Igal Subdistrict Mandah Indragiri Hilir Regency already "Role". Where the activities "Role" there are 11 indicators of 21 existing indicators. While the"Quite Simply" there are 10 indicators of 21 existing indicators. The rest of the activities do not get the category"Very Less Action"or"Less Action". This shows that the extension activities in Igal Village,Mandah Sub District have been good for the coconut farmers in Igal village (3).
