Abstract

Agriculture is one of the leading sectors of developing countries. Indonesia is a developing country that relies on plantation as foreign exchange is based on the primary sector. Rubber is one of the strategic commodities fo foreign exchange. This is evident from the history of Indonesian rubber that had become the nomber one producer of rubberr in the world. But after the reorfm era, Indonesian rubber collapsed due to low demand for rubber. This raisesa number of controversies on the marketing of the national rubber.The purposes of this research is to analyse market structure on rubber smallholders plantationof Ex UPP TCSDP in Hidup BaruVillage of Kampar Kiri Tengah District of Kampar Regency. This research started from June 2015 till  March 2016. The research method who used in this research is survey method. Data was collected on 31rubber farmers by purposive sampling technique, 6Village Merchantsby purposive sampling technique,3 Medan Wholesalers by purposive sampling technique and Bridgestone’s Factory by Snowball Sampling. The research results shows there is a rubber marketing channel which are Smallholder Plantation- Village Merchant – Medan Wholesaler - Factory. Market structure at rubber marketing of Ex UPP TCSDP imperfectly competitive market leads to oligopsony.  Keywords: TCSDP, marketing channel, market structure. Farmer, Agricultur Marketing

Abstract

Briquettes is one of the renewable energy alternatives that have uniformity of size, shape, density, and energy content. The purpose of this study was to examine the characteristics of briquettes consisting of a mixture of shells and midrib, and to determine the composition of the raw materials that can produce a briquettes with the best quality. The raw materials used were a mixture of shells and midrib with the proportion of 90%:10%, 80%: 20%%, 70%: 30%, 60%: 40%, and 50%: 50%. Types of tests performed on briquettes include crushing strength, moisture content, volatile matter, ash content, carbon bonded, and calorific value. The results of the tests showed briquettes crushing strength 3,54-6,07 kg/cm2, moisture content 3,24-4,14%, volatile matter 11,55-16,61%, ash content 4,94-5,23%, carbon bonded 74,01-80,25%, and calorific value 4181,04-6122,40 kal/g. The best quality of biopelet was in the percentage of shells and fronds was 80%: 20%.Keywords: Briquettes, palm shell, palm midrib, renewable energy

Abstract

Batangkoban Waterfall located in Lubuk Ambacang Village. This waterfall has uniqueness, which is the form of the waterfall with characteristic of seven levels that have different heights. The purpose of this research is to determine the condition and the potential of tourism object and to know the form of local community participation in the providing facilities and infrastructure of the attractions Batangkoban Waterfall. This research uses observation method, questionnaire and literature study. The result of this research shows that Batangkoban Waterfall becomes the source of fresh water supply. The people around the waterfall also participate in managing the natural waterfalls, namely as a tour guide, transportation service providers for visitors in the form of speed boat, vehicle parking providers, parking attendants, food and beverage sellers and as a supporter of nature conservation and waterfall attractions by taking care the facilities and infrastructure previously provided by the local government. Keywords: Batangkoban Waterfall, Participation, Community.

Abstract

Compared to the content of other plants, durian seeds contain high starch. The high amylose and amylopectin components in durian seed starch are considered to be sufficiently pro- effective to be used as a base material in edible coating which can be consumed. The use of glycerol has a role as a plasticizer in improving the properties of good permeability as an edible layer. This study aims to know the best amount in the application of edible coating on kemojo cake. This study used a completely randomized design (RAL), consisting of 5 treatments in which each treatment performed 3 repetitions. The treatments in this study were AB0 (without immersion as control), AB1 (once immersion), AB2 (twice immersions), AB3 (thrice immersions), and AB4 (four times immersions). The results show that the pH edible coating is 5 and the viscosity is 6.07 cP. The best treatment was thrice times immersions (AB3) with water content of 35.71%, weight decreased 6.79%, and TBA 1.85 mg malonadehid / kg. Texture 3.13 (rather hard) and aroma 4.13 (rancid). Keywords: Cellulose, water hyacinth, glycerol, carrageenan.

Abstract

Nypa fruticans Wurmb producing sap that can be obtained through wiretapping fruit bunches. Nipa sap fresh taste sweet because it contains sugar which is quite high. Nipa sap is processed into bioethanol as a renewable energy source that is being developed still find obstacles in its management due to the community when the sap has been tapped then collected, indirectly sold and stored. The yield of bioethanol is one of the considerations in the process of bioethanol production from nipa sap. Nipa sap sugar levels are high it is possible to produce a high yield. This research aim to determine the effect of storage long time the sap nypa to the yield of bioethanol. This research was conducted experimentally by the method of completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments used were P1 = storage long for 24 hours, P2 = storage long sap for 36 hours, P3 = storage long for 48 hours, P4 = storage long sap for 60 hours, P5 = storage long sap for 72 hours. Data was analyzed by regression analysis. The results of this research shows that the nipa sap storage time significantly affect the yield of ethanol produced. Abstract

The purpose of this research was to get the sensory characteristicon transparent soap with the addition of essential oil from jeringau rhizome.The research used a Complete Randomized Design with five treatments and three replications. The treatments were addition of essential oils in consecutive S0 (0 ml), S1 (0,05 ml), S2(0,10 ml), S3 (0,15 ml), and S4 (0,20) ml in 100 ml of transparent soap formula. The data were statistically analyzed using Analysis of Variance and Duncanʹs New Multiple Range Test at 5%. The research showed that addition of  jeringau essential oils significantly effected on descriptive test, and hedonic test. Transparent soap elected from this research was treatment S4 (addition essential oils 0,20 ml). The result of descriptive test on transparent soap showed that the soap had jeringau flavor and assessment of hedonic test on transparent soap was favored by the panelists. Keywords:Jeringau, essential oil, transparent soap, antibacterial.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the diversity of local rice accessions from East Kampar and North Kampar, Kampar District. This research was carried out at the Experimental Garden and Laboratory of Plant Cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru from September 2017 to March 2018 with descriptive analysis method, where there are 10 local rice accessions planted in pots . Each local rice accessions consists of five experimental sample units with a total of 50 units of data. The results of obtained character diversity of rice plants with all accessions has a drooping panicle shaft and medium criteria of plant age, 90% accession have a 2-cleft leaf tongue shape, 80% accessions has a high criteria plant height, 70% accessions has a panicle out shape with all panicle and neck panicle out, 60% local rice accessions have fertility of fertile grains, and 50% accessions has a long leaf character short criteria and the stem segment has a golden yellow color. Keywords: local rice, kinship, diversity, morphology, agronomy.

Abstract

Catfish nuggets is one of the products processed using a cut of catfish relatively small and irregular then be attached to return to the product greater by adding seasoning, filler and materials fastener. This research aims to know the influence of the adding of bamboo shoots betung to quality nugget according SNI-01-6638-2002. Research methods using the complete random design consists of 4 treatments and each treatment was repeated 4 times. Treatment additions bamboo shoots begin from 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% from 100 grams of heavy materials. The data analyzed by statistic using Anova. Organoleptic analysis with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) on 5% level. The result showed that the best treatment was the addition of bamboo shoot treatment 30%. The product has a water content of 30,22%, ash content of 1,17%, the protein content of 12,12%, 3,54% fiber content, with color are golden yellow (3,63) and color in grayish white (4,07), aroma slightly scented fish and slightly scented bamboo shoots (2,93), rather tasteless fish and a little taste of bamboo shoots (2,77), texture a bit chewy (2,73) and overall ratings between like to favorite (4,49). Keywords: catfish, betung bamboo shoots, nugget.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain the best ratio between red guava pulp with roselle flowerpulp in the making of jam.  This study used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications.  If the results of the study showed a significant difference between treatments, then continued test using DNMRT test at level 5%. The treatment in this research was the ratio of red guava pulp to roselle petal porridge, respectively PT1 (10: 0), PT2 (9: 1), PT3 (8: 2), and PT4 (7: 3). Parameters observed in this jam were moisture content, ash content, pH, total dissolved solids, sucrose content, and sensory assessment. The best ratio in this research is PT4. The resulting moisture content of 25.01%, ash content of 0.25%, contained pH 3.85, total dissolved solids 76.87%, sucrose content 50.07%, Based on descriptive sensory assessment, the result of colored jam (4, 17), flavor (3.17), smell (3.33) has a texture (4.13) and the overall assessment gives a good impression (6,27). Abstract

The purpose of the experiment was to determine the effect of interaction between the composition of compost and P fertilizer on the growth and yield of soybean crops on peatlands and to get the best combination of treatments. 36 experimental plots measuring    2m x 3m and eight parameters were observed, including relative growth rates, plant height, flowering age, harvest age, percentage of pithy pods, seed yield per m2, weight of 100 seeds and harvest index. This experiment used factorial randomized block design (RBD) method. The results showed a significant increase in compost effect on plant height, harvest age and weight of 100 seeds of soybean plants and P fertilizer application significantly affected harvest age, seed yield per m2 and weight of 100 seeds of soybean plants, but the interaction of the two factors was not significantly different all parameters. The best combination of treatments is by giving 20 tons of ha-1 compost and a 100 kg P P2O5. Ha-1 P fertilizerKeywords:soybean, chromolaena odorata, peat soil
