Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the effect of rice straw compost,  NPK fertilizer and interaction rice straw compost and NPK  fertilizer to find the best dosage for growth dan production of onions.  This research was conducted in the experimental field Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau in Campus Binawidya Km 12.5 Simpang Baru Panam, Pekanbaru. This research was conducted from February 2016 to Mei 2016. The research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors. First factor is rice straw compost (P) which 3 levels, they are P1 = 600 g/1,2 m2 ; P2 = 1200 g/1,2 m2 and P3=1800 g/1,2 m. Second factor is NPK fertilizer (N) which 3 levels, they are N1=12 g/1,2 m2, N2=24 g/1,2 m2 dan N3=  36 g/1,2 m2. The combination of these two factors become 9 treatments and with 3 replications so there are 27 experimental units. Parameters observed are plant height, number of tubers, diameter of tubers, fresh weight tubers and dry weight tubers. The research used Analysis of Variance and further by Multiple Range Test Duncan’s at 5% level. The result concluded that treatment of rice straw compost 1800 g/1,2 m2 and NPK fertilizer 24 g/1,2 m2  may be recomanded for growth and production onions.  Keywords : Allium ascalonicum L., Rice straw compost, NPK fertilizer

Abstract

This research was aimed to obtain the best soaking time of banana peel in sodium metabisulfite for the manufacture of edible horn banana peel starch film. This research is conducted byfour treatments andfourreplications. The treatment used was KP1 (soaking time of 24 hours), KP2 (soaking time of 26 hours), KP3 (soaking time of 28 hours) and KP4 (soaking time of 30 hours) The treatments of selected in this research was KP4 with yield of 1.9075%, thickness of 0.0829 mm, transparency of 0.05625, water vapor transmission rate of 28.0436 g/m2/hour, solubility of 22.2859%, tensile strength of 1.5287 MPa, elongation of 47.5808%, and descriptive color score of 4.5000 (not brown). Keywords:Edible film, banana horn peel, sodium metabisulfite

Abstract

This research carried out at  medium region of Garoga regency of Tapanuli utara  with the selected villages as a place of research are village Garoga Sibargot and village Padang Siandomang. The aims of this study are to identify local knowledge ever in rubber production businesses, analyzing the practice of local knowledge on rubber production businesses in garoga district, knowing the local knowledge environmentally is friendly in cultivation the rubber plant. Benefits on this study are collecting and reminded back about old culture has gone, and still exists so that can be used as a reference to the future. The sampling technique in this research used technique snowball sampling or carried out with the chain by asking information on those who have interviewed or contacted earlier, and forward. And techniques of data collection be used in this research are in-depth interviews with key informants and the questionnaire .Data analysis is use the 5W 1H method, analysis of likert and analysis of SWOT. Local knowledge is a form of knowledge, belief, rules, customs, and habit has done by a society that who honor the  norms and the cultural values has been existed and lowered from ancestor to children and children for running daily life. In this research there are local knowledge in the cultivation of  Rubber plants , where 80 percent of the people is rubber farmers. This thing proved that they still run the local wisdom that hereditary there with them, although procedures, a customary ceremony and also rules are already gone. The local wisdom of  the rubber plant totaled 71 the local wisdom , ever and performed farmers ancients totaled 34 and now  the performed farmers totaled are 4. The local wisdom has ever seen and done farmers ago, and still used by farmers now 33 totaled namely the local wisdom. Key Word: local wisdom, rubber, and environment

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the response of the pakcoy plant to the combination of the AJKSand NPK fertilizer and to get the best combination of the growth and production of pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) in peat medium. The research has been conducted in Experimental Field of Faculty Agriculture of Riau University from March to April 2017. This research was conducted experimentally with Factorial Completely Randomized Design  which consisting of 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor of dose of AJKS 2, 4, 6    tons/ha, second factor of dose NPK was  200, 250, 300 kg/ha. The data have been statistically analyzed and Tukey's 5%. The results showed that the combination of AJKS and NPK significantly increased leaf area, fresh weight of plants and had no significant effect on plant height, leaf number and consumption fresh weight. Implementation of6 tons/ha AJKS and 300 kg/ha NPK fertilizer is the best dose to increase the growth and production of pakcoy plant.Keyword: Pakcoy, peat, AJKS, NPK fertilizer

Abstract

The research was conducted in the greenhouse of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru from February to July 2016. The experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD), factorial and 3 replications. The first factor:soil water tension, consists of three levels (pF 1.00 to 1.97, pF 2.29 to 2.54 and pF 2.70 to 3.00) and the second factor: upland rice varieties which consists of three varieties (Situ Patenggang, Situ Bagendit, and Inpago 8). The data were statistically analyzed by ANOVA and Duncan test continued level of 5%. Parameters measured were plant height, plant growth rate, the maximum number of tillers, the number of productive tillers, harvesting, root volume, the ratio of the canopy and roots, crop straw weight, weight of 100 grains, pithy grain percentage, and the weight of dry milled grain. The results showed the interaction soil water tension and varieties of upland rice significantly affected the rate of plant growth, the number of maximum tillering, the number of productive tillers, harvesting, root volume, heavy crop straw, weighting 100 grains, the percentage of pithy grain, and the weight of grind dry grain. The combination of soil water tension pF 1.00 to 1.97 and varieties Situ Bagendit is the best combination, because the weight of dry milled grain yield tends more.        Keywords:superior upland rice varieties, soil water tension, Ultisol.

Abstract

The mustard sweet (Brassica juncea L) is much appreciated consumer especially organiced organic.  One of the organic materials that have potential to be applied is POC Nias, but not yet known the right concentration to obtain maximum production.Research on POC Nias is done with the aim of determining the best concentration in increasing the growth and production of mustard plants. The study was conducted in Desa Muda Setia, Bandar Sei Kijang Sub-district from March to April 2018, using a randomized block design method (RAK) 6 treatment with 5 replications. The treated treatment is without fertilization, fertilized with 2g Urea + 1g KCl per plant, POC Nias concentration 5ml-1, 10ml-1, 15ml-1, 20ml-1). The observed parameters of plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, fresh weight, root volume, fresh weight are feasible for consumption. The results showed that POC Nias can increase the growth and production of sweet mustard plants with the best concentration is 10 ml-1 water.Keywords: mustard sweet, liquid organic fertilizer Nias, concentration, production

Abstract

Global warming become a hot issue in recent years, a source and cause of global climate change is the amount of carbon dioxide emissions produced by fossil fuels used motor vehicles and some of the industry to run the engine. One solution that is appropriate in reducing carbon emissions is the availability of green open space around the road traffic. This research intend to discover the potential uptake of carbon dioxide and some plant species potentially absorb carbon dioxide in the shade trees at Soekarno Hatta Pekanbaru street. This research using purposive sampling method to determine the sample leaves on plants. The trees sampled is the most dominant tree on the green line at Soekarno Hatta Pekanbaru street. The tree used in this research as many as 27 trees, ie 9 angsana (Pterocarpus indicus Willd.), 9 mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla King.) and 9 eucalyptus (Melaleuca leucadendron L.). The results show angsana has potential of carbon dioxide absorption highest than mahogany and eucalyptus at Soekarno Hatta Pekanbaru street. Keywords: Carbondioxide, Angsana, Mahogany, and Eucalyptus.

Abstract

Modified sago starch (mosas) is sago starch wich has been microbiologically modified by latic acid bacteria. The purposes of this study were to modify the sago starch by microbiologicaly method using Lactobacillus plantarum 1 isolated from sago starch processing industry and to analyze the characteristic of physico chemical properties of modified sago starch. This study was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments consisting of  P0 (L. plantarum 1 RN2-12112 : L. plantarum 1 RN2-53 (1:1)), P1 (L. Plantarum 1 RN2-12112 : L. plantarum 1 RN1-23121 (1:1)), P2   (L. plantarum 1 RN2-53 : L. plantarum 1 RN1-23121 (1:1)). Each treatment were repeated 6 times. The results show that a combination of bacteria in the fermentation significantly affected the swelling power and solubility but did not significantly influence the moisture, ash and crude fiber content as well as the degree of acidity.Keyword:  sago starch, modification,  Lactobacillus plantarum 1, microbiological method

Abstract

Agricultural marketing is a process of the flow of commodities accompanied by the transfer of property and creation for the time, place and use of forms by marketing institutions by implementing one or more marketing functions.This study aims to analyze the marketing of rainfed lowland rice in Siak Kecil Subdistrict. This research was conducted in Siak KecilSubdistrictofBengkalis Regency using survey method. The technique of taking respondents is done by purposive sampling. The population in this research is rice farmer with 42 farmers. The results showed that the selling price of rice by tauke milling to the final consumer and the selling price given tauke to traders is quite high.This is due to the processing by incurring machine operating costs and labor costs. Marketing margins on channel I and II amounted to 11.11 percent involving farmers, tauke grinders and retailers. The high margin of marketing is due to retailers selling rice to Bandar sungai market located in Siak Kecil Subdistrict. Keywords: agricultural,rice, marketing,production

Abstract

Natural tourism consists object and recreational tourism which related any activities that explores the potential of natural resources and its ecosystems. One of the places which required it is Berastagi, Tanah Karo in North Sumatera. The freshness and coolness of Berastagi atmosphere attracts many tourists to visit it. One of the attraction in Berastagi is the famous Mount Sibayak which is still developing until today. The purpose of this research is find out the characteristic of visitors who came for recreation to Sibayak Mountain, to know  how much economic value tour of Sibayak Mountain per year based on Travel Cost Methode (TCM), to find out the factors affecting of economic value based on Travel Cost Methode (TCM). Materials and objects of this research is questionnaire sheet. Data collected using SPSS 21 (Statistic Package For Social Science) analyze. The results showed that Sibayak Mountain economic value based on Travel Cost Methode (TCM) of Rp.3.926.520.145,6/ year, with average person of Rp. 103.438,36. Keywords : Economic Value , Cost Travel, Sibayak Mountain
