Abstract

Growing media and nutrients are important factors of cucumber cultivation in hydroponic techniques. The use of growing media and different nutritional sources is thought to affect its growth, so a research that combines these two factors was carried out in aims to  find out the suitable growing media and nutrients for growth of cucumber plant in hydroponic techniques. The growing media that used in this research were husk charcoal and dried bamboo leaves, while the nutritional source is liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) that has been destructed and un-destructed. The research was conducted using completely randomized design (CRD) factorial with observed parameters such as first day of harvesting, number of fruits per plant, fresh fruit weight per plant, weight per fruit, fruit length, fruit diameter, stover wet weight, stover dry weight, root canopy ratio, ratio of fruit weight per plant with stover wet weight. The results of the research showed that the treatments of different growing media impacted on all observed parameters except for first day of harvesting.The treatment of LOF affected all observed parameters except for first day of harvesting. The treatment of growing media of dry bamboo leaves with destructed LOF is the best treatment and increased the number of fruits per plant, fresh fruit weight per plant, fruit length, fruit diameter, stover wet weight and stover dry weight. The treatment of LOF and destructed LOF showed the same results on growth and yield, so that Super Bionic LOF tended as nutrients and there was no effect of PGRs (Plant Growth Regulators) on growth and yield of cucumber plants in hydroponic techniques. Keywords: hydroponics, liquid organic fertilizer, bamboo leaves, nutrient

Abstract

Bird is one of the biodiversity must be preserved from extinction and decline in species diversity. Forest Reserve of Kenegerian Rumbio have potential as bird species diversity. Species of birds in the forest has not data and information about the birds. This study aims to determine the level of bird species diversity and relative abundance of birds in the forest Reserve of Kenegerian Rumbio.Diversity of bird species in the Forest Reserve of Kenegerian Rumbio found 40 species of birds from 21 families. Index of bird species diversity in each region indicates that is Panogan (H '= 2.57), Sialang Layang (H' = 2.7), Halaman Kuyang (H '= 2.37) and Tanjung Kulim (H' = 2.55). Value Relative Abundance (VRA) species of birds in each different region. Relative Abundance Index (RAI)Panogan zone 18.97%, 20.22% Sialang Layang,Halaman Kuyang 22% and 20.83% of Tanjung Kulim and included in the high category.Keyword: Biodiversity, Bird, Forest Reserve of Kenegerian Rumbio

Abstract

The objective of this research is to identified the social capital of the rubber farmer’s that affecting to the empowerment of farmers and its affect on the prosperity of rubber farmers in XIII Koto Kampar subdistrict, Kampar district. The social capital and the empowerment of rubbers farmer was identified by the likert scale and the relationship of the social capital and empowrment of rubbers farmers was analyzed by the Spearman Rank correlation. The result of study shown that the social capital of the rubber farmers in high categorized. The high social capital was built by the high social network, high social trust and high norm. The empowermrnt of the rubber farmers was medium, that support by the medium empowermrnt in economic and medium empowerment in social. Based on Spearman Rank analysis fount that there is no relationship the dimension of social capital and empowerment of the rubber farmers. Keywords: social capital, empowerment, rubber farmer

Abstract

Arboretum of Riau Universityis a habitat whom build a one connectionpotential habitat for wildlife and more organism. As a supporting tool that provides useful information for various purposes, booth in terms of education, social, economicand ecology. It is necessary to support the complete data by conducting research on the animals in the Arboretum of Riau University, especially mammals, to find out the large index of diversity and richness of mammals species contained in Arboretum of Riau University. This Research held on November 2016 until January 2017. Method used for this research is a line transectsmethod and trap.On research location obtained result isthere 9 of mammals from 6 family founded with 63 individual that founded. The index of species diversity in both dry line (1,93) and wet line (1,73) was moderate. Richness index varieties dry line  (1,97) wet line(1,80)  is low.Most of mammals on Arboretum of Riau University are animals living on forest floor  (teresterial), small flying mammals are met for while research only bats  and kind of living animals on canopy area crown and the middle of the canopy crown (arboreal).  Keywords: Mammals, Diversity, Arboretum

Abstract

Spodoptera litura is main pest destroyer leaves of soybean leaves. As an alternative replacement of synthetic insecticides is bioinsecticides by utility basic ingredients from plant that are easy find such as Piper aduncum L.. The purpose of the research is to find out of a better surfactants concentration which can enhance the effectiveness of Piper aduncum L. extract below 10% which is the concentration 75 g/l of water to control S. litura of soybean. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pests, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from March to May 2016. The Research was conducted experimentally by using completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 4 treatments, where each treatments was replicated 4 times to obtain 16 experimental units. The treatments used in the research were 0 %, 0.025%, 0.037% and 0.050% concentration of surfactants given as the extract of Piper aduncum L. concentration of 75 g/l water. The result showed the addition of several concentrations of surfactants hasn’t been able to increase the effectiveness of the concentration of ekstract Piper aduncum L. under 10% that is concentration of 75 g/l water as bioinsecticides in controlling the S. litura. But the addition of surfactants on the concentration of 0.05% (recommended dose) can increase the death of S. litura as big as to 7.5%. Keyword : Spodoptera litura F., surfactants, Piper aduncum L

Abstract

This study aims to determine the soybean varieties which provide the best response to the germination phase with Polyethylen Glycol. This research was conducted from February to May 2019 atPlant Breeding Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University. The study was conducted experimentally using factorial randomized complete design with two factors, where the first factor was soybean variety: V1 (Najsmoro variety), V2 (Dena 1 variety) and V3 (Argomulyo variety). The second factor was PEG concentration: D1 (0% PEG concentration), D2 (5% PEG concentration), D3 (10% PEG concentration), D4 (15% PEG concentration), D5 (20% PEG concentration). The parameters observed were germination, Indeks value test (IVT), length of roots and plomules. The data obtained were analyzed statistically with variance and continued with a DNMRT further test at the level of 5%. The results showed that the three varieties had germination> 90% after being treated with PEG concentration. Anjasmoro and Dena 1 varieties are varieties with good germination phase after giving of PEG concentration. Keywords: Germination, Soybean varieties, Polyethylen Glycol.

Abstract

The aims of this study to get the best ratio of mangosteen peel and seaweed to produce jelly candies with good quality. This study was held experimentally using CRD (Complete Randomized Design) of five treatments and three replications. The treatment were JKR1 (ratio mangosteen peel and seaweed  2 : 1), JKR2 (ratio mangosteen peel and seaweed 3 : 2), JKR3 (ratio mangosteen peel and seaweed 1 : 1), JKR4 (ratio mangosteen peel and seaweed 2 : 3) and JKR5 (ratio mangosteen peel and seaweed 1 : 2). Data were analized by ANOVA and DNMRT at the level of 5%. The result showed that there was significant influence (P<0,05) of ratio mangosteen peel and seaweed in ash content, crude fiber content, reducing sugar content and organoleptic test, but no significant influence (P>0,05) in moisture content. The ratio of mangosteen peel and seaweed in the treatment JKR3 (mangosteen peel and seaweed ratio 1:1) was best treated with a moisture content 26.51%, ash content 0.75%, crude fiber content 2.22%, reducing sugar content 9.45%, antioxidant content 21.06 µg/ml. The result of sensory analysis of JKR3 were a little bit reddish purple colour, very sweetness taste, the texture was springy and overall assesment of jelly candy was preferred by the panelists. Keywords: Mangosteen peel, seaweed, jelly candy

Abstract

This study aims to determine the response of water spinach to rice straw and NPK compost, and looking for a best combination of rice straw and NPK compost that provides the best growth and production of water spinach. This research carried out in the Faculty of Agriculture Experimental Station, Riau University, starting from February 2018 until May 2018. This study used a Randomized Block Design with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor was rice straw compost (0, 7 and 14 ton.ha-1) and second factorI namely NPK fertilizer (0, 100 and 200 kg.ha-1). The parameters observed were plant height, leaf number, leaf area, fresh weight, root shot ratio and plant dry weight. Data were analyzed using anova and with HSD 5%. Increasing the dosage of rice straw compost significantly increased plant height, leaf number, leaf area, fresh weight, root to shoot ratio and dry weight of land water spinach. The interaction of giving rice straw compost and NPK fertilizer significantly increased plant height, leaf number, leaf area, fresh weight, and dry weight except the root canopy ratio of land water spinach. The interaction of rice straw compost 14 ton. ha-1 in NPK 200 kg. ha-1 was the best dose to increase plant height, leaf number, leaf area, fresh weight, root canopy ratio and dry weight of land water spinach. Keywords: Ipomoea reptans Poir, rice straw compost and NPK fertilizer

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the position of processed agricultural products exports of Indonesia in ASEAN countries. The data used in this research is secondary data that is in the form of time series data for 10 years that is the2005-2014 in the year can be from various sources such as the United Nations Commodity Trade Statistics Database, World Trade Organization, the Ministry of Trade etc. The analysis of the data used in this research is a descriptive analysis, that analysis that describes the position of the export of processed agricultural product Indonesia in ASEAN countries. Results of the study concluded that the export of processed agricultural products position ASEAN countries highest occupied by Indonesia with the export value reaching US$21.28 billion in 2014. While the next position occupied by Malaysia, Thailand, Viet Nam, Singapore and the Philippines.Keywords: Processed Agricultural Products, Export, Export Value Position

Abstract

Swietenia mahagoni is thetype of plant that fast growing. Swietenia mahagoni usefull ranging from seeds, leaves and stems. Society in general just let Swietenia mahagoni seeds to grow naturally without treatment to the seeds. The best seed treatment is by using plants that contain a disinfectant or antiseptic and easly found around the environment, including the Piper betle Linn. This study aimed to determined the soaking effect of Swietenia mahagoni seeds in Piper betle Linn. water toward of seed quality and determined the best time term of long soaked seeds in Piper betle Linn. water to keep seed quality. This research compiled in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatment and 4 replications. Treatment consists of soaking the seeds for 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes and 40 minutes. Data were analyzed by Analysis Of Variance (ANOVA), than continued with DNMRT double distance test at 5% level. The result showed that the soaking of Swietenia mahagoni seeds affect the quality of seeds, proved by the percentage of seeds germinated better. The best seed soaking times is 40 minutes with the percentage of germination 85,5%, speed germination 14,98 days and seedling height 11,29 cm.Keywords: Swietenia mahagoni, Piper betle Linn., Seed Quality
