Abstract

ABSTRACT               Palm oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) Is one type of plantation that occupies the most important position in the agricultural sector, this is because oil palm is able to produce the largest economic value per hectare compared to other oil-producing or fat plants. Indonesia has a great opportunity to develop oil palm plantations, one of the provinces that is the center of oil palm development in Indonesia is Riau province. The positive impact of oil palm expansion besides being able to increase people's income, also expanding employment, while the negative impact caused damage to the properties of the land. This study aims to obtain the right dosage of OPEFB to breed worms and improve infiltration in inceptisol soil. This research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This study was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and four replications to obtain 16 experimental units. The factor used was 4 doses of OPEFB compost. The treatment of 430 g per 900 cm² was the best treatment for the development of earthworms as indicated by the highest number of tillers, number of cocoons, total earthworm weight and rate of soil infiltration Keywords: Palm oil plants, oil palm empty bunches, earthworms

Abstract

Corn grain in storage can be damaged by maize weevil Sitophilus zeamais M. pest. If corn grain stored juring 6 monts cause damage to reach 85%. The research aims to find a concentration of gamal leaf powder  that cause mortality of maize weevil S. zeamais M. pest highest at corn grain in storage. Research has been conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pests Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau from October until December 2015. The research was designed a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments tested were giving some concentration of gamal leaf powder are 0 g / 100 g of corn grain, 2 g / 100 g of corn grain, 4 g / 100 g of corn grain, 6 g / 100 g of corn grain, and 8 g / 100 g of corn grain. Data were analyzed statistically by analysis of variance and least significant difference test at the advanced level of 5%. The result showed that concentration of 8 g/ 100 g of corn grain can cause mortality of maize weevil  S. zeamais M. pest highest at corn grain in storage with the early time of death at 44,25 hours after application, lethal time 50 of 279,50 hours after application and total mortality is 70%.Keyword: Gliricidia sepium Jacq., Sitophilus zeamais M., corn grain.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to get the best formulation of mix jackfruit rags and soursop in making fruit jam. This research used Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications, followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%. The treatments in this research were DS1 (jam with mix jackfruit rags pulp 65% and soursop pulp 35%), DS2 (jam with mix jackfruit rags pulp 50% and soursop pulp 50%), DS3         (jam with mix jackfruit rags pulp 35% and soursop pulp 65%), DS4 (jam with mix jackfruit rags pulp 20% and soursop pulp 80%). The result of analysis showed that the jackfruit rags and soursop significantly affected the moisture content, total acid content, total dissolved solids,  sucrose content, fiber content, description of sensory test on colour, texture, flavour, taste and overall test. The best formulation of jam was DS2 (jam with mix jackfruit rags pulp 50% and soursop pulp 50%) with moisture content 25.25%; total acid content 4.66; total dissolved solids 67.91obrix,  sucrose content 54.74%; fiber content 2.85%. Description of sensory test scores of DS2 (jam with mix jackfruit rags pulp 50% and soursop pulp 50%) were colour 3.66 (yellow), taste 3.17 (taste jackfruit rags and soursop), texture 3.31 (soft) and flavour 3.83 (jackfruit rags and soursop flavour). Overall scores of DS2 were colour 4.05 (like), taste 4.05 (like), texture 4.06 (like), flavour 3.94 (like) and over all test 4.31 (like).Keywords: Jam, jackfruit rags, soursop.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to get the sensory characteristicon transparent soap with the addition of essential oil from jeringau rhizome.The research used a Complete Randomized Design with five treatments and three replications. The treatments were addition of essential oils in consecutive S0 (0 ml), S1 (0,05 ml), S2(0,10 ml), S3 (0,15 ml), and S4 (0,20) ml in 100 ml of transparent soap formula. The data were statistically analyzed using Analysis of Variance and Duncanʹs New Multiple Range Test at 5%. The research showed that addition of  jeringau essential oils significantly effected on descriptive test, and hedonic test. Transparent soap elected from this research was treatment S4 (addition essential oils 0,20 ml). The result of descriptive test on transparent soap showed that the soap had jeringau flavor and assessment of hedonic test on transparent soap was favored by the panelists. Keywords:Jeringau, essential oil, transparent soap, antibacterial.

Abstract

The development of cattle through the system of integration in the oil palm plantation area has great opportunity to be developed in the region, given the potential of oil palm plantations that are widely available, especially the people’s plantation. Crop livestock integration system is an agricultural system characterized by close association between crop components and livestock in a farming activity. The linkage is a trigger factor in encouraging farmer’s income growth and suistainable regional economic growth. This research was conducted in PangkalanLesung district of Pelalawan regency which aims to know the perception of farmers on the role of the guarantor institution and the risk bearer in supporting the SISKA program. The study was conduced from June to November 2017 using survey methods and intentional sampling techniques on government supported groups, while data analysis used Likert’s scale. The results showed that the perception of farmers on the role of insurers and risk insiders as a whole including the category less play with the average score of 2,12 which indicates that the role of the insurer and the risk is still not aptimally felt by the groupin supporting the development of SISKA seen from the primary production activity with a score of 2,79 including the category of enough role, product processing activities with a score of 1,78 including the category is very no role and marketing activities results with a score of 1,79 including the category very no role. Keywords :Perseption, institutions, risk, integration.

Abstract

The use of Guano fertilizer in the cultivation of mustard plant in the soil of Inceptisol is the part of effort organic fertilizer giving that come from bat feces. This fertilizer is espected to improve the mustard growth, because it has function as the source of nutrient and it is able to improve the physical and biological properties of soil. The research was carried out on the experimental station, Fakulty of Agriculture, University of Riau on March-April 2018, by using a completely randomized design with the treatment of Guano fertilizer dosage (0, 300, 600, 900, 1.200) g.m-2. The growth observed was plant height, number and area of heaves, total plant weight and weight of plant suitable for consumption. The result showed that giving of Guano fertilizer effect on parameter of plant height, number and area of leaves, total weight and weight of plant suitable for comsumption. The best treatment was obtained a dose of 1.200 g.m-2 and it was able to increase the yield by 48,92 % compared to without being given Guano.Key word :Mustard plant, Guano fertilizer, Yields

Abstract

The research was conducted at experimental farm, The Faculty of Agricultute, Riau University from March until July 2016 to look the effect of palm oil empty bunch compost and NPK fertilizer for corn growth and productivity and to know the best dosage. The research factorial 4x4 and three replication was arranged in Randomized Completely Block Design. The first factor was  palm oil empty bunch compost (without palm oil empty bunch compost, 5 ton/ha, 10 ton/ha, and 15 ton/ha) and the second factor was NPK fertilizer (without NPK fertilizer, 100 kg/ha, 200 kg/ha, and 300 kg/ha). From both factor there are 16 treatment combination which repeat three times. The result revelaed that palm oil empty bunch compost and NPK fertilizer combination significant effect with plant’s growth, the ration of roots crown, dry weight of plants, diameter of rod, diameter of cobs, length of cob, weight of seed, a thousand weight of seeds and not significant with total leaf area and height of plant’s . The combination of 5 ton/ha palm oil empty bunch compost and           200 kg/ha NPK fertilizer showed the best weight of seeds obtained was             4,85 kg/6 m2 than without palm oil empty bunch compost and NPK fertilizer that obtained was   3,70 kg/6 m2  weight of seeds. Keyword: TKKS compost, NPK fertilizer, Corn.

Abstract

Endophytic bacteria are bacteria that live in plant tissue, including in dragon fruit plant tissue. There are many species of endophytic bacteria living inside tissue dragon fruit plant wich play a beneficial role for plant. Endophytic bacteria can be used as a biological fungicide and biological fertilizer which are useful for plants. The purpose of the research is to observe the characteristics of the endophytic bacteria. Plants samples was taken by using purposive sampling method. The location is at Balai Pelatihan dan Pengembangan Masyarakat PT. Arara Abadi the district of Siak Riau. Plant tissues were taken from roots and shoots of the dragon fruit plants. The data were analyzed descriptively. Results showed that the morphological characterization of endophytic bacteria such as colonies color, colonies form and colonies elevation had some similarities each others, but there was a difference on the edges of colonymorphology. Two isolates had a flat edges and three isolates have wavy edges. Physiologycal assays such as catalase assay, oxidase assay and starch hydrolysis assay of the bacteria showed a positive on the each isolate, but there was a difference on the motility assay and indole assay. Two isolates showed that they were motile and positive indole assay,while the three other isolates showed that they were non-motile and indol negative assay.Based on the morphological and physiological similarities of the endophytic bacteria, it can be assumed the bacteria belong to Genera of Bacillus and  Corynebacterium. Keyword :      Isolation and characterization, endophytic bacteria, and dragon fruit plant

Abstract

The research aimed to know the characteristics quality and sensory ice cream with the addition of different concentration of kombucha tea, as well as to know the best formulation that fulfill’s SNI (01-3713-1995). The research was conducted with five treatments and three replications. The treatments in this study were kombucha tea addition of 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40%. Data were statistically analyzed by using analysis of variance and followed by duncan ‘s new multiple range test at level 5%. The result of analysis of variance showed that the addition of kombucha tea significantly affected total dissolved solid, fat level, sucrose level, and antioxidant but did not significantly affect protein level. Kombucha tea ice cream treatment selected from the tested parameters was the treatment T2 (addition of 20% kombucha tea). The ice cream obtained had a fat 15.58%, protein 3.72%, sucrose 10.37%, total solids 30.22%, antioxidants 56.48 ppm.Keywords: ice cream, kombucha tea, antioxidant.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of POC banana skin nutrition and the use of plant medium and to obtain the best combination of treatments on the growth and yield of hydroponic cultivated tomato plants. This research was conducted in Experimental Garden of Agricultural Faculty of Riau University, Pekanbaru from June to October 2017. This study used a complete randomized design (RAL). The first factor is POC nutrients of banana skin with concentrations of: 20 ml.l-1 water, 35 ml.l-1 water, and 50 ml.l-1 water. The second factor is planting medium that is Charcoal husk, Cocopeat and Charcoal husk + cocopeat (with ratio 1: 1). The parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, flowering age, percentage of flower to fruit, number of fruit crops, age of first harvest, weight per fruit, fruit diameter and fruit weight per plant. Provision of POC banana peel 35 ml.l-1 water in husk charcoal medium to increase the growth of plant height, the percentage of flowers into fruit, the number of fruit crops and the weight of fruit crops. Keywords: nutrition, planting medium, hydroponics
