Abstract

Bantan Subdistrict is the center of coconut production in Bengkalis Regency, however the land area and coconut production tend to decrease every year coconut cultivation tehcniques are not in accordance with the standards are one of the factors causing the production of coconut production in Bantan Subdistrict. The purpose of this study was to determine coconut cultivation techniques, and analyze the income of coconut farming. The methode used is  descirptive and analysis of farm income.  Respondents consisted of 30 coconut farmers. The result of the analysis of coconut cultivation techniques in Bantan Subdistrict is not in accordance with the recommendations, andthe farming income is still relatively small.Keywords: Bantan Subdistrict, coconut, Income

Abstract

Pineapple is one type of fruit that is widely produced in Indonesia .This study to obtain the optimal fermentation time in the manufacture of pineapple juice probiotic drinks that meet quality standards and are favour by the panelist. The research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications in order to obtain 16 experimental units. The treatments used in this study were N1 (fermentation time of 8 hours), N2 (fermentation time of 12 hours), N3 (fermentation time of 16 hours), and N4 (fermentation time of 20 hours). The parameters observed were the degree of acidity (pH), total lactic acid, total lactic acid bacteria, total solids, and sensory assessment. The best treatment of pineapple juice probiotic drink fermentation time was N2 treatment (12 hours of fermentation time). The probiotic drink of pineapple juice had pH value of 4.03, total lactic acid 0.55%, total LAB 9.09 log CFU/ml, total solid 18.70%, slightly yellow color (3, 53), slightly pineapple aroma (3.80), slightly sour taste (3.87), and thin (2.60) viscosity..Keywords:Probiotic drink, fermentation time, Lactobacillus fermentum InaCC B1295

Abstract

The research am to determine the effect of interaction of liquid organic fertilizer and P-fertilizer along with teh best combination in cleasing the growth and yield of onion plant (Allium ascalonicum L.). The research was conducted at experimental garden of agriculture facully, universitas riau in ovtober to desember 2018 and done in factorial form 4 x 3 using completely randomized design (CRD). The first factors was liquid organic fertilizer NASA and consist of 4 levels that are 0 m.l-1, 7 m.l-1, 8 m.l-1, and 9 m.l-1. The second factor was P fertilizer and consist of 3 levels that are 0 kg.ha-1, 150 kg.ha-1, 200 kg.ha-1.The bservasin parameters were plant height, number of leaves per clump, number of tubers per clump, tuber diameter per clump, weight of fresh tubers and weight of worth keeping tubers. The data werw analyzed using analysis of varriance and followed by duncan’s new multiple range test (DNMRT) at level 5 %. The result of the research showed that the treatment of liquid organic fertilizer have non-significant effect on all observation parameter. The combination treatment of liquid organic fertilizer 9m.l-1 and P fertilizer 0 kg.ha-1 to give the best result in creasing weight of fresh tubers and weight of worth keeping tubers.  Keywords : onion plant, liquid organic fertilizer NASA, P fertilizer

Abstract

ABSTRACT            Utilization of the area by human needs has resulted in a narrowing of the habitat of long-tailed monkeys and monkeys which has triggered human and wildlife conflicts such as in Petai Village and Pulau Padang Village which are around the Bukit Rimbang Bukit Baling Wildlife Reserve. This conflict between humans and wildlife has a negative impact, both in the form of a decrease in the population of long-tailed monkeys and monkeys in their natural habitat as well as in the form of economic losses for the community. Such conditions require the calculation of the economic value due to human and wildlife conflicts as part of the consideration in obtaining efforts to resolve the conflict. This study aims to determine the prevention efforts of long-tailed monkey andmonkey conflicts with humans and to determine the value of losses due to disturbance of long-tailed monkeys and monkeys in Petai Village and Pulau Padang Village. This study uses purposive sampling method, using the Slovin formula as many as 74 respondents. Methods of data analysis using descriptive analysis to determine conflict mitigation techniques for long-tailed and monkey monkeys and quantitative analysis to be used to calculate the value of human losses and conflicts with long-tailed and monkey monkeys, namely the value of agricultural damage losses in rupiah units. Damage to agricultural commodities in Petai Village and Padang Island, namely oil palm, rubber, banana, papaya, chilli, eggplant, long beans and cassava. The results of the calculation of the average damage in Petai Village / one attack obtained a value of Rp. 1,786,413 per household, while in Pulau Padang village the average calculation of damage / attack was Rp. 2,645,009 per household. Efforts to control conflict by the community are in the form of guarding and controlling the gardens, making barriers in the form of installing wire fences and evictions.Keywords :Conflict, Long Tailed Monkey, monkey, Mitigation, Damage Costs, wildlife.

Abstract

Mung beans are legumes that known and cultivated in Indonesia. This plant is an important commodity. Utilization of oil palm processing plant sludge is still not optimal, therefore sludge can be utilized as an alternative supply of nutrients for the development of green bean plants. PKS sludge is the waste from the byproduct of the processing of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) in the form of solid objects that sink at the bottom of the sedimentation plant of a palm oil mill into crude palm oil or Crude Palm Oil (CPO). The study was conducted at the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from August to October 2018. The research was an experiment in the pattern of a 4x3 factorial using a split plot design. As the main plot, PKS sludge solid waste consists of 4 levels (0, 8, 16, and 24 tons.ha-1), as subplots namely three varieties of green bean plants consist (varieties Vima-1, Kutilang and Vima-3) , each repeated 3 times. The results showed there were variations among varieties of green beans, which were observed in which Vima-1 variety gave better results for the age of emergence of flowers, age of harvest, and weight of 100 seeds. Varieties of Kutilang on the parameters of percentage of pith pods and Vima-3 varieties on parameters of plant height, number of branches, number of seeds per pod and weight of seeds per plot. Of the three varieties tested, Vima-3 produced the highest plant height of 65.12 cm and yieldof 493.74 gr.m-2. Keywords: Green beans, varieties, sludge

Abstract

Aquilaria malaccensis is one of the plants used for peatland restoration activities. Provision of quality A.malaccensis seeds is needed in conservation activities. To get a good quality of A.malaccensis must use proper cultivation techniques. Mycorrhizae and Trichoderma spp. can improve seedling growth and suppresses pathogenic. Application of mycorrhizae and Trichoderma spp. are on of the success techniques of cultivation, but need to know the potential time to apply. For this reason, this research was conducted to determine the potential time application of mycorrhizal and Trichoderma spp. to increase seddling growth. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD), which consist of 5 treatmens, 10 replications and each replication consisted of 1 seedling. The treatments used were : T1 = Trichoderma spp. on S-5 and mycorrhiza on S-1, T2 = Trichoderma spp. on S-3 and mycorrhiza on S-1, T3 = Trichoderma spp. and mycorrhiza on S-1 , T4 = Trichoderma spp. on S-1 and mycorrhiza on S-3, T5 = Trichoderma spp. on S-1 and mycorrhiza  on S-5, where S = seedlings were transferred to polybags after treatment. The parameters measured were seedling survival percent, seedling height increase, seedling diameter increase, plant dry weight, and root canopy ratio. The results of this research that the application of Trichoderma spp. in 5 days before the seedling were transferred to polybags and mycorrhizae 1 day before the seedlings were transferred to polybags showed the best result for the growth of A.malaccensis seedlings with seedling height increase is 5,13 cm, plant dry weight is 1,14 g and top-root ratio is 3,09. Keywords : Aquilaria malaccensis, mycorrhizae, Trichoderma spp., peat medium

Abstract

This study aims to know the effect of kind of planting media and liquid complementary fertilizer and to know the best treatment on growth and yield of pakcoy plant on hydroponic system. The experiment was conducted in the green house of Faculty of Agriculture Riau University from July to September 2018. This researched experimentally by the form of 3x4 faktorials arranged according to a Complete Randomized Design (CRD)consisting of 2 factors. The first factor was planting media which were charcoal, burnt sawdust and cocopeat. While the second factor was liquid complementary fertilizer of Bayfolan with concentration of 2 and 3 cc.l-1 of waterand Gandasil-D with concentration of 2 and 3 g.l-1 of water. Theparameters observed were the plant height, number of leaves, fresh weight per plant, weight of worth consumption and root volume. The result showed that the giving of various planting media and liquid complementary fertilizerhas a significant effect on plant height, fresh weight and weight of worth consumption, but no significant effect onthe number of leaves and root volume. The aplication of liquid complementary fertilizer of Gandasil-D with a concentration of 3 g.l-1 of water and Bayfolan with a concentration of 3 cc.l-1 of water to the burnt sawdust media produced more leaves, heavier fresh weight and weight of worth consumption than other treatments.Keywords: pakcoy plant, planting media, liquid complementary fertilizer, hydroponic.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to examine the effect of biochar with the best NPK fertilizer that gives the best impact on the gr owth and productions of soybean. The experiment was conducted in an experimental field of Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, in February until Juni 2019, the experimentallyusing factorial 4x2 conducted arranged completely randomized design (CRD) consist of four levels of biochar (control; 5 ton.ha-1 ;10 ton.ha-1;15 ton.ha-1) and two levels of NPK fertilizer (125 kg.ha-1;250 kg.ha-1). The data was analyzed of varience and further with the New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. Parameters observed wereinternodes  length, number of branch, flowering time, harvest time, the percentage of pithy pods of plant, crop seeed weight, productivity (g.m-2) and weight of 100 seeds. Result showed the application of biochar and NPK fertilizer has a significant effect on internodes  length, number of branch, the percentage of pithy pods of plant, crop seeed weight, productivity (g.m-2). Interaction between 10 ton.ha-1 biochar at NPK 250 kg.ha-1 gave the best impact on the growth and productions of soybean. Keywords: Biochar, NPK fertilizer, Soybean.

Abstract

The research aim to study the change of ultisol soil chemical properties after crop upland rice (Oryza sativa L.) that applied biochars from agricultural waste as rice husk and shell of coconut. The research was conducted at Agricultural Faculty Experimental Unit and soil laboratory, university of riau, pekanbaru city. The research was conducted experimentally with a completely randomized design by one factor. The factor is dose of biochar that consists of 4 levels (without biochar, 25 g/polybag rice husk biochar, 25 g/polybag coconut shell biochar, 25 g/polybag biochar mixture both) each was repeated 3 times so that there were 12 units of experimental sample. The parameter observed of ultisol soil chemical were number of soil pH (pH meter), number of C-organic (Walkley and Black), number of N total (Kjeldahl), number of P total (HCl 25%), number of K total (HCl 25%), number of KTK (Leaching), number of bases can be exchanged (Atomic AdsorbenSpectrotometer/AAS), number of Al dd dan number H dd (KCl 1N). the result showed that aplicationbiochars with dose 25 grams/polybag can not significant at all number of parameters but only 2 parameters are significant like number of N total (Kjeldahl), and number of P total (HCl 25%). the result parameters that significant is still low so it must do processing to be able for sustainable agriculture.Keywords :Ultisol soil chemical, biochar, upland rice

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to obtain the best formulation ratio of wheat flour and carrot flour based on nutritional value characteristics and sensory analysis in making of roasted brownies. The research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications, which followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%.  The treatment of the research was the difference in the formulation ratio of wheat flour and carrot flour, included TW1 (90 : 10), TW2 (80 : 20), TW3 (70 : 30), TW4 (60 : 40) and TW5 (50 : 50).  The result showed that the ratio of use between wheat flour and carrot flour significantly affected all observational parameters both chemically and sensory, except colors and aromas which has no real effect.  Based on the result of this research, TW3 is chosen as the best treatment with 14,18% moisture content, 1,62% ash content, 5,86% protein content, 21,51% fat content, 56,83% carbohydrate content, 4,23% crude fiber content, 0,89 µg/g β-carotene content and is preferred hedonically with a description of very brown color, chocolate-scented, taste sweet, and rather smooth texture.Keywords: carrot flour, roasted brownies, brownies
