Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of tempeflour and obtain a formulation that was elected in the manufacture of sago crackers based on quality standards cracker (SNI 01-2713-1999). This study was conducted experimentally by using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications. The treatment in this study was K1 (sago starch : tempeflour100% : 0%), K2 (sago starch : tempeflour 90% : 10%), K3 (sago starch : tempeflour 80% : 20%) and K4 (sago starch : tempeflour 70% : 30%). Data were analyzed statistically using ANOVA and tested further by DNMRT at 5%. The results showed that the addition of tempeflour in the manufacture of sago crackers different in each treatment significantly affected the moisture content, ash content, protein content, flower power as well as evaluating the sensory descriptive and hedonic overall. Sago crackers chosen in this study is a cracker K3 (sago starch : tempeflour 80% : 20%), with a water content of 7,60%, 1,37% ash content, protein content of 5,92% and ranges from 41,24% flower power to the characteristicsslightlybrowncolored, flavoredtempe, tasteless tempeand crispas well asthe overallpreferredpanelists.   Keywords: Crackers sago, sago starch, tempeflour.

Abstract

The addition of sucrose for productionof milk fermented is expected to affect the sensory quality of probiotic fermented milk produced. Lactobacillus casei subsp. caseiR-68 is probiotic bacteria isolated from dadih. This study useda Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications thus obtaining obtain 16 experimental units.Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara statistik dengan menggunakan analisis sidik ragam (ANOVA).The data obtained were statistically analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA).Jika F hitung lebih besar atau sama dengan F tabel maka dilanjutkan dengan uji DNMRT pada taraf 5%. If the  F count is greater than or equal to F table then continued with DNMRT test at 5% level.The results show that the addition of sucrose significantly affected the taste and consistency, but did not significantly influence the color of probiotic fermented milk. Overall acceptance test indicated that the panelists were“rather like to like”forprobiotik fermented milk. The best treatment based on the sensory evaluation was treatment S2 (addition 5% concentration of sucrose).   Keywords: Fermentation, Lactobacillus casei subsp. caseiR-68 and Sucrose.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to obtain the best concentration of xanthan gum to quality of tomato sauce. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications this obtaining 16 experimental units. The data obtained were stasitiscally analyzed of variance (Anova) if the F countis greater than or aqual to F table then continued with DNMRT tes at 5% level. Results of variance showed different that xanthan gum concentration significantly affect the degree of acidity (pH), total dissolved solids, viscosity, sweetness is descriptive test, assement of the overall hedonic test and had no significant affect on the descriptive colour and flavor. The best formulation of tomato sauce is treatment T3 (xanthan gum concentration 0,6%) with  shows a pH 4,15,  the total dissolved solids 26,13 obrix, and viscosity 14593 cP.   Keywords: Tomato, Tomato sauce, Xanthan gum

Abstract

Research on effects of some dose of palm oil mill effluentand media on the growth of oil palm Seedlings( Elaeisguineensis Jacq .) fase main nursery, plantation experiment have been conducted in garden experiment of the Agriculture Faculty, Riau University was startedon march  until june 2015. with the aim to get the dose of palm oil mill effluent and media works best for seedlings growth palm oil. A field experiment was conducted by using split plot design, in which three levels of media ie; Ultisol ,Histosol , and mixure, were assigned to main plot and four levels of palm oil mill effluentie; control , 0.8 l , 1.6 l , and 2.4 l. The Parameters observed were plant height, leavesnumber, the increase in diameter stump,root volume, root crown ratio, dry seedling weight.Based on research results that palm oil mill effluent 2.4 l in a media mixure show results in best than other treatment to increase plant height,diameter stump, root crown ratioon palm oil in  main nursery.   Keywords :palm oil mill effluent, media, oil palm Seedlings

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the growth and fiber content of five kenaf varieties and find out the variety that able to give the best fiber yield. This research was conducted in the agricultural experimental unit, Agriculture Faculty, Riau University from May until September 2015. The study arranged experimentally using Randomized Block Design (RBD) consist of 5 treatments and 4 replications. Varieties those used are Karang Ploso 6, Karang Ploso 9, Karang Ploso 11, Karang Ploso 12 and Karang Ploso 14.The data were examined by analysis of variance and means separation by Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test at 5%. The parameters those observed were flowering age, harvesting age, plant height, stem diameter, plant fresh weight, stem fresh weight, fiber dry weight, and ratio of stem fiber. Varieties of  Karang Ploso 6, Karang Ploso 9, Karang Ploso 12 dan Karang Ploso 14 has same plant height potential. Higher plant will produce longer fibers.   Keywords : kenaf, varieties, growth.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the interaction of giving rice rush ash and straw trichocompost as well as the factors both on growth and production sweet corn plant on peatland and get the best dosage. This research was conducted at the experimental farm of the Agriculture Faculty, Rimbo Panjang, Kampar from February to May 2015. Thisresearch was carried experimentally using Randomized Block Design (RBD) factorial, the first factor is rice husk ash with 4 levels consisted of: 0 ton/ha, 3 ton/ha, 6 ton/ha and 9 ton/ha and second factor is straw trichocompost fertilizer with 4 levels consisted of: 0 ton/ha, 2,5 ton/ha, 5 ton/ha and 7,5 ton/ha. Each combination was repeated 3 times so there have 48 experimental units. Each experimental unit there have 24 plant and 5 plant as samples. The result of experiment that was obtained using analysis of variance were tested futher with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The result showed the aplication of rice husk ash 9 ton/ha and straw trichocompost 5 ton/ha are the best treatment for growth and production of sweet corn plant with production 7,21 kg/plot (equal with 16,02 ton/ha). Abstract

This research aims to increase the production of upland red rice plants with organic fertilizer of bokashi and ferinsa.This research was conducted at the experimental farm of the Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau started in May to August 2015. The experiment using a completely randomized design 7 treatments and 3 replications and. The treatments in this research are b0 = without fertilizer, b1 =60 g Bokashi and 10% ferinsa, b2 = 60 g Bokashi and 20% Ferinsa, b3 = 60 g Bokashi and 30% Ferinsa, b4 = 120 g Bokashi and 10% Ferinsa, b5 = 120 g Bokashi and 20% Ferinsa (%), b6 = 120 g Bokashi and 30% Ferinsa. Parameters observed are hight of plant, the maximum number of tillers, the number of productive tillers, the appearance ofpanicle, panicle length, number of grain per panicle, percentage of of grain pithy and dry weight of grain. The results of observation data were further analyze by Duncan new multiple range test at 5%level.The results showed thatthe composition of bokashi and ferinsa gave  effect on hight of plant, the maximum number of tillers, the number of productive tillers, the appearance of panicle, panicle length, number of grain per panicle, percentage of grain pithy and dry weight of grain. Bokashi fertilizer composition 120 g and ferinsa 30 % is the best treatment to increase the production of upland red rice plants compared to other treatment.   Keywords : Bokashi fertilizer, ferinsa,  red rice plants.

Abstract

Seedling is a plant material which is very important in the development    of the palm oil industry. Quality of seedlings will determine the success of oil palm cultivation. The uncertain climate change caused many oil palm nursery are flooding. This stage of hypoxia or anoxia caused plant growth stress.          Therefore has been tested multiple giberelin concentrations and flooding against oil palm seedlings on pre nurseries. This research aims to maintaining quality      of oil palm seedlings of waterlogging stress by providing some gibberellin concentration. This research was conducted at the experiment station                    of Agriculture Faculty University of Riau, Pekanbaru from June to September 2015. The experiment using the completely randomized factorial design 3 x 3 and 3 replications. The first factor are g0 = without gibberellin, g1 = 150 ppm gibberellin and g2 = 300 ppm gibberellin, and the second factor is duration              of waterlogging stress. There are w0 = 0 days, w1 = 25 days and w2 = 50 days.   The results is no interaction of gibberellin concentration and flooding stress to oil palm seedling. The higher concentration of gibberellin given caused higher seedlings, and the growth of diameter rod and adventitious roots was affected       by flooding. Abstract

The study aims to get a dose ofvermicompostfertilizer suitablefor the growth ofplant seedsgaharu (Aquilaria malaccensisLamk). This study lasted from May toAugust 2015 at Plants in the Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau Simpang Village New District of Tampan Pekanbaru. Research carried out for 3 months from May to August 2015. This study was conducted experimentally by using completely randomized design consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replicates in order to obtain 15 units of study.   The treatment given is the use of multiple doses of vermicompost fertilizer that V0 = 0 g / polybag, V1 = 11,25 g / polybag, V2 = 15 g / polybag, V3 = 18,75 g / polybag and V4 = 22,5 g / polybag. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance were significant and continued with the smallest value different test (BNT) at 5%. Parameters measured were plant height increment (cm), in the number of leaves (pieces), stem diameter increment (cm), aloe plant dry weight (g) and the ratio of crown roots (g). The results showed that vermicompost fertilizer dose of 22.5 g /polybag shows the effect on plant height increment parameter, in the number of leaves, increase stem diameter, plant dry weight and ratio root crown. Giving a dose of 22.5 g / polybag is the best dosage to improve plant growth gaharu (Aquilaria malaccensis Lamk). Keywords :Aquilaria malaccensis Lamk and Vermicompost

Abstract

The research aims to determine the effect of type of compost, and know the kind of good compost for the growth and production of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt). This research was conducted at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau in May to August 2015. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of six treatments, each treatment was repeated 4 times to obtain 24 units of the experiment, while the treatment is given is Ko (without compost), K1 (10 ton / ha compost cassava peel), (10 tons / ha of compost PEFB), (10 tons / ha of rice straw compost), and (10 ton / ha maize straw compostg). Parameters measured were plant height, leaf length, leaf width, stem diameter, while the male flowers appear, while the female flowers appear, cob length, cob diameter, number of rows / ear, seed number / line, and the weight of variance followed cob.The reanlted by Duncan test New Multiple Range test at 5% level. The results showed that the administration of the various types of compost (cassava peel, PEFB, rice straw, water hyacinth and corn straw) significant effect on all parameters (plant height, leaf length, leaf width, stem diameter, time appears the male flowers, time appears flower female, cob length, cob diameter, heavy cob without husks, seed number per line and number of lines per cob) on the growth and yield of sweet corn. Giving compost cassava peel with a dose of 10 ton / ha gives better results on the growth and yield of sweet corn. It can be seen from all the parameters observed.
