Abstract

The objective of this study was todetermine the effect, interaction and get the dose of water hyacinth compost and appropriate plant spacing to the growth and yield of soybean. The study was conducted in the experimental station of Agriculture Faculty of Riau University by using a randomized completely block design with 2 factors and3 replications. The first factor was water hyacinth compost consisted of 5 levels namely: 0 t.ha-1, 5 t.ha-1, 10 t.ha-1, 15 t.ha-1and20 t.ha-1water hyacinth compost. Meanwhile the second factor was plant spacing which consisted of 2 levels namely: (40 x 15) cm and (40 x 20) cm. The result of this study indicated that water hyacinth composting give effected on plant height, number of branches, number of pods per plant, number of filled pods per plant, seed weight per plant, seed weight per plot, seed weight per m2andweight of 100 seeds, while plant spacing give effected on seed weight per plot andseed weight per m2. Combination of water hyacinth composting 15 t.ha-1 and plant spacing (40 x 15) cm give the highest results of plant height, seed weight per plot and seed weight per m2 meanwhile combination of water hyacinth composting15 t.ha-1 and plant spacing (40 x 20) cm give the highest results of number of branches, number of pods per plant, number of filled pods per plant, seed weight per plantandweight of100 seeds. Keywords : Water hyacinth compost, plant spacing, yield components

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the effect temperature of drying for aktivity katuk leaf herbal tea. Drying katuk leaf herbal tea used with temperature 40°C, 45°C, 50°C, 55°C for 2 hours. This study used Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 4 treatments and 4 replications to get 16 experimental units. The data obtained were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA). If the test results show F arithmetic greater or equal to F table then tested further with Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT), at 5% level to know the difference of influence on each treatment. The results showed that moisture content of 6.49-3.87%, ash content of 1.23-1.27% and antioxidant 14.08-56.06μg/ml. The results of the study indicate that for the overall assessment that the panelists rather like to love the leaves produced katuk herbal tea.  Keywords: Leaves katuk, herbal tea and drying.

Abstract

The research aims to study the effect and to obtain the best dose of rice straw compost on the growth of the cocoa seedling. The experiment has been conducted at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru. from July to October 2016. The experimental unit was arranged in a completely randomized design (RAL), consisting of 6 treatments: 0, 25, 50, 75, 100 and 125 g/seedling and replicated 3 times. Each experimental unit consisted of 3 seedlings. Parameters observed were seedling height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, root volume, the ratio of the canopy and root and dry weight. Data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance and the mean of each treatment was compared by using Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at level of 5%. The results showed that the dose of  rice straw compost could improve the seedling height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, root volume, ratio of the canopy and root and dry weight. The dose of rice straw compost at 125 g/polybag produced the best growth of cocoa seedling. Keywords: cocoa seedling, rice straw compost dose

Abstract

The purpose of this research was obtained the best ratio of bilimbi extract and carrot extract in making jelly candy. The research was used completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications which followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The treatment of this  research were BW1 (bilimbi extract 90:10 carrot extract), BW2 (w bilimbi extract 80:20 carrot extract), BW3 (bilimbi extract 70:30 carrot extract), BW4 (bilimbi extract 60:40 carrot extract) and BW5 (bilimbi extract 50:50 carrot extract). The result of analyz was showed that the ratio of extract bilimbi and carrot significantly affected on moisture content, ash content, pH, reduction sugar content, descriptive of sensory test on colour, flavour, taste, texture, hedonic of sensory test on colour, taste, texture and overall test before coated sugar and tapioca flour (1:1), but did not significantly affected hedonic sensory of flavor of jelly candy and overall test after coated sugar and tapioca (1:1). The best formulation jelly candy were BW4 with water content 9.31%, ash content 0.78%, pH 4.28, reduction sugar content 22.02% with description score 3.94 (colour), 3.54 (flavour), 3.72 (taste), 3.76 (texture )  and 4.10 (overall). Keywords: jelly candy, bilimbi extract and carrot extract

Abstract

This research is to know the composition of tree species diversity of tree species that found in Customary Forest of RimboTujuhDanau at BuluhCina village. The method used in this research is purposive sampling method. Data analysis using the Important Value Index (IVI) and Diversity Index (H’) Shannon-Wiener. The result showed that the composition of tree species found in the Customary Forest of RimboTujuhDanau village as much as 39 types of 24 family. The most dominant is the family myrtaceae and the quantity as 6 types of vegetation. The value of diversity in the type of seedling is 2,13, stake level is 2,34, pillar level is 2,48 and tree level is 2,54. The diversity of tree species in Customary Forest of RimboTujuhDanau at each level of the growth medium with value belongs to 1≤H’<3. Keywords:Types of composition, Diversity of species, Customary Forest Of Rimbo Tujuh Danau

Abstract

To determine the effect of biogas and liquid fertilizer to get a dose of where best to improve seedling performance. This study was conducted over three months, from May to July 2016. This study is an experiment using a completely randomized design (CRD) non factorial which consists of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The parameters of the observation that the increase of plant height, increase the number of leaves, increase the girth, leaf area, the ratio of the canopy and root dry weight of seedlings. The results showed liquid biogas fertilizer on seedling significant effect on the increase of plant height, leaf area and canopy ratio roots. Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine  the response of various tidal swamp varieties of paddy rice (Oryza sativa L.) on various ground water levels. The experiment was conducted in an experimental field of Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, from July until December 2016. The experiment was conducted by experiment using completely randomized design (RAL) with two factors, namely rice field varieties, and water table height. Varieties are used: IR-42, Inpari 13 and Bamban Lentik. Height of ground water used 5 cm, 10 centimeter, 15 cm and 20 centimeter. The observed parameters were: plant height, tillers maximum number, number of productive tillers, age of panicles, panicle length, harvest age, percentage of unripe rice per hill, weight of dried grain per clump, and weight of 1000 grain of pithy rice. The results obtained in the analysis using anova and HSD of 5%. The results showed that the responses of IR-42 and Inpari 13 varieties to the 10 cm height of the ground water surface resulted in the age of panicles and the fastest harvest age, and yielded the weight of dry grain per clump, the percentage of unlogged rice per hill and the weight of 1000 rice grains. Response of Bamban Lentik varieties to 20 cm high water levels showed the age of panicles and the fastest harvest age, and yielded the weight of dry grain per hill per hill, the percentage of pithy rice per hill and weight of 1000 grain of the highest pine rice.Keywords: Water level, varieties, rice

Abstract

Currently Indonesia is still heavily dependent on fossil fuels as an energy source. To reduce dependence on oil and meet global enviromental requirements, one way is with the development of enviromentally friendly fuel that is and alternative energy derived from plant oil called biodiesel. This study uses a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments, S1 (Reaction transesterification 1 hour), S2 (transesterification 2 hours), S3 (transesterification 3 hours), S4 (transesterification 4 hours), and S5 (transesterification 5 hours) with three replications. The data were analyzed using ANOVA, continued by DNMRT at 5 % level. The results showed that the transesterification reaction time significantly (P<0.05) viscosity, water content, levels of methyl ester. But did not significantly affect (P>0.05) on influenced the acid number, total glycerol, flash point, saponfication. The analysis has been carried obtained the best treatment is S5 with the results said saponfication (103.52 mg KOH/g), the acid value (1.29 mg KOH/g), total glycerol (0.19 %), viscosity (2.21 cSt), water content (0.02 %), flash point (115°C ), and the level of methyl ester (99.32 %). Keywords: biodiesel, waste cooking oil, catalyst transesterification reaction.

Abstract

Kulim (Schorodocarpus borneensis Becc.) is the multipurpose tree species(MPTS), almost the part of tree can be used at this time, although most economic value is wood. Kulim is one of the species that already rare the forest. The aims of this research was to determine the characteristic of kulim in the prohibition tradition Rumbio forest and the distribution of kulim from the seedlimg and it is habitat. This research was conducted in March-April 2016 in the prohibition Rumbio forest. This research using primary data and secondary data. The data collect from systematic sampling with random start technic and plot sizing 50 m x 50 m using purposive sampling technique. Kulim has a habitat on sandy loam, yellowish brown, average water content 5,88% with pH 5,40 (acid). Kulim is located at altitude 93 mdpl-103 mdpl. Average temperatures 25,71 ˚C and average humidity 71,46 %, the thickness of the litter 45 cm. Total of the species 32, Shorealeprosula higher 22,32 INP.Macaca nemestrina, Tupaia javanica, Sus scrofa,Hebarctus malayus and Neofelis nebulosa is the species of animal can be found and can indentify around kulim. Parent tree can be found in the prohibition traditional Rumbio as much as 5 individuals from five lines. Regeneration of kulim for seedlings found 60 individuals farthest distance seedlings from parent tree 1015 cm and the closest distance 57 cm. Keywords : Spread, Habitat, Kulim, Prohibition Rumbio Forest.

Abstract

This research aimed was to obtain the combination of best of treatment the addition of pectin given to making fruit leather. This research was carried experienmentally using completely design randomized (CDR) with four treatment and four replications: P1 (Addition of pectin 1%), P2 (Addition of pectin 0.75%), P3 (Addition of pectin 0.5%), P4 (Addition of pectin 0.25%). Data obtained were treated by the Analisys of Varience (ANOVA) to allowed by Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) the level 5%. The result showed that theaddition of pectin in making jam significantly sheets against the water content, content of ashes, content of coarse fiber, content total dissolved solids, degree acidity, content sucrose, hedonic test (color, scent, taste, of sweetness, plasticity and the  overall assessment), descriptive test (colour, plasticity) and not significantly descriptive (the scent, taste and sweetness). P1 (pectin 0.25%) jam on sheets produce good. This jam 3.15 having a PH, in hedonic favored by the panelist and in descriptive bible brownish yellow, flavorful pedada, of a sweetish taste, not sweet of sweetness, plasticity springy and the overall assessment. The best treatment is P1 (addition of pectin 0,25%). Key words : Fruit Pedada, pectin and fruit leather
