Abstract

The research aims to isolate and to observe the antagonicity of rhizosphere fungus from onion plant toAlternaria porri. This research has been conducted at Plant Pathology Laboratory and Plant Pest laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau from May until July 2017. The research consisted of 6 steps as follow: 1) isolation and purification of the rhizosphere fungus from onion plant used exploration method, 2) antagonicity test of rhizosphere fungus from onion plant againstA. porri used experiment method,3) hyperparasitism test of 5 rhizosphere fungus which have a high antagonicity used observation method. Data collected from step 1 and 3 were descriptively analyzed. Data from step 2 were analyzed by using analysis of variance. The mean of each treatment were compared with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test(DNMRT) at level 5%. Result of the research showed that there were 16isolates, 5 isolates had a high antagonicity: isolate R6, isolate R11, isolate R10, isolate R4 dan isolate R5. The isolate R6 had the best inhibition growth to A. porri (59,90%), the biggest diameter of the growth (90,00 mm) and the most rapid colony growth (25,00 mm/day). Keyword: Antagonicity,rhizosphere fungus onion

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to get the potential concentration of sago wastewater optimum with microalgae Chlorella sp to reduce pollutant wastewater sago.  Research was carried out by emplemented a Randomized Completely Design (RCD) with five treatments, namely: P0 (1000 ml sago wastewater without addition of microalgae), P1 (250 ml microalgae: 1000 ml sago wastewater), P2 (250 ml microalgae: 800 ml sago wastewater), P3 (250 ml microalgae: 600 ml sago wastewater), P4 (250 ml microalgae : 400 ml sago wastewater).  Results showed that the concentration of sago wastewater and treated with microalgae Chlorella sp significantly reduced the COD, BOD, and TSS.  The best treatment is P4 with COD 277,33 mg/L; BOD 125,33 mg/L; pH 7,04;  and TSS 83,66 mg/L.  Keywords : Chlorella sp, sago indusrial wastewater, COD, BOD, TSS, pH

Abstract

Macaca nemestrina is one including appendix II containing list of endangered species. The research aims to understand home range to know daily behavior and mapping range of Macaca nemestrina in the area of Riau University forest and surrounding areas.  This research using a method of direct observation by way of follow, noticed as well as record every activity performed by groups of Macaca nemestrina. The determination of the regional daily range in overlay using software arcgis 10.1. Daily activity were analysed by counting average time daily activity and percentage number of daily activity fauna. Home range Macaca nemestrina were analysed using kernel density estimation (KDE) located on program Geospatial Modelling Environment (GME) and ArcGis 10.1. Home range outermost Macaca nemestrina were analysed by the method of Minimum Convex Polygon (MCP). The result showed that Macaca nemestrina in the area of Riau University forest having broad areas of 176.553 m². Maps of the home range  Macaca nemestrina having range regions core level very high density area of 7.916 m², high area of 11.344 m², mid 41.468 m², low area of 83.28 m² and level of density is very 32.542 m². The activity of Macaca nemestrina is eat, break, migrates, grooming and social interaction. The highest activity is break activity 36,68%, the lowest activity is grooming 4,10%. The percentage of eating 25,33%, social interaction 29,69% and devolve activity 4,20%. To scatter cruiser regions Macaca nemestrina in forest area of Riau University were on the point coordinates 101°22'44,565'BT–101°23'8,918'BT and 0°28'56,122'LU–0°28' 32,798'LU.Keywords: Macaca nemestrina L.,  Forest Areas, Daily Range, Home Range, Core Areas, Coordinate.

Abstract

Edible film is a thin layer of edible material placed on the surface of food products to provide a barrier for moisture, oxygen and solid transfer of the food. The main raw material in making edible film is breadfruit starch, chitosan as stabilizer and sorbitol as plasticizer. Theaimed of this research was to determine the effect sorbitol addition as a plasticizer to the quality of edible film and determine the proper concentration of sorbitol to produce an elastic and not fragile edible film. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments (without sorbitol, 0.4%, 0.8%, 1.2% and 1.6%) and four replications. The result showed that the best sorbitol concentration was S1 (0.4%) with thickness 0.21mm, The rate of water vapor transmission 462.11 g/m2/24 h, tensile strength 10.33 Mpa and elongation 5.29%.Keywords: edible film, sorbitol, plasticizer, breadfruit starch.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are: (1) to analyze the marketing functions; and (2) to analyze the marketing channels. The research method used survey method with 10 white oyster mushroom farmers, 2 brokers, and 31 retailers. The result showed that marketing functions undertaken by institutions who involved in the marketing of white oyster mushroom include farmers, brokers, and retailers such as exchange function, physical function, and function facilities. Marketing channels of white oyster mushroom in Pekanbaru city consists of three channels, where Channel I farmer selling white oyster mushroom to consumer directly, Channel II farmer selling white oyster mushroom to retailer, and then retailer selling mushroom to consumer, and Channel III farmer selling white oyster mushroom to broker, then broker selling mushroom to retailer, and finally retailer selling mushroom to consumer. Keywords: White oyster mushroom, Marketing functions, Marketing channel

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to obtain the right activation time in making coconut shell activated carbon. This research used a Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and four replications which followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at level 5%. The treatments of this research were KA1 (20 hours activation time), KA2 (22 hours activation time), KA3 (24 hours activation time), KA4 (26 hours activation time) and  KA5 (28 hours activation time). Analysis observed were rendement, water content, ash content, pure carbon and iodine adsorption. Analysis result showed that the variety of activation time did not significantly affected on the yield but significantly affected on the water content, ash content, pure carbon and iodine adsorption. The choosen treatment of activated carbon was 28 hours activation with rendement 95.58%, water content 7.02%, ash content 4.49%, pure carbon 80.79% and iodine absorption 782.62 mg/g.  Keywords: Activated carbon, coconut shell, activation time.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to antagonistic assessment fungal Trichoderma, Verticillium and Torulomyces to Ganoderma boninense Pat. in vitro. This research has been conducted at Plant Pathology, Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau from March until May 2016. The research consisted of 2 steps as  follow : 1) Antagonistic assessment of Trichoderma, Verticillium and Torulomyces 2) measurement the diameter and growth antagonism fungus. Results of the research showed that Trichoderma had a better  inhibition  growth  to              G. boninense 81,21%, diameter of growth was 88,00 mm and colony growth 29,33 mm/day. The Endophytic Verticillium had inhibition growth 76,08%, diameter of growth  was  85,92 mm and colony growth 28,64 mm/day. The Torulomyces had inhibition growth 75,90%, diameter  of growth was 84,67 and colony growth 28,22 mm/day.  Keywords : Antagonistic Assessment, Ganoderma boninense, In vitro

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the effects of herbicides types used in weed control against sweet corn growth and production on a triangular planting system. The experiment has been conducted at the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Soil Laboratory agricultural faculty, and Botani Laboratory FMIPA Riau University from December 2016 to March 2017. The experimental unit was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design, consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments consisted of the without herbicides, herbicides isopropil amina glifosat, paraquat diclorida and mesotrion + atrazine. The Observed parameter are planth height, girth diameter, chlorofil content, male and female flower appearance time, cob weight without cornhusk per plant, cob yield cornhusk per plot, number of seed rows, cob diameter, cob length, weed plant biomass and vegetation analysis before and after treatment. The data acquaired from analysis of variance were tested with Duncan’s multiple range test at 5% level. Research result shows that Mesotrion + Atrazine treatments is better in raising sweet corn yield component. Key words : Herbicide, triangular planting system, sweet corn

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to get a combination of bagasse and sawdust on the quality of briquettes produced. The method used in this research was Completely Randomized Design, with five treatments and three replications. The treatment used a combination of bagasse and sawdust 0%: 100%, 25%: 75%, 50%: 50%, 75%: 25%, and 100%: 0%. The data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance and continued with Duncan Multiple Range Test at 5% level. The best treatment was briquette 25%: 75% briqutte with water content of 6.3023%, ash content 11.1221%, steam content 22.2391%, carbon content bound to 60.3365%, calorific value 5460 kal.g-1, and fuel 0.0018 g.s -1. Keywords :briquette, bagasse,sawdust.

Abstract

This research aims to know the effect of rice husk ash interaction and OPEB compost and get the best combination to the growth and yield pepper plant in peat medium. This research was conducted at the experimental farm of the Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau started in January to June 2017. This experiment was conductin the form of a 3 x 3 factorial arranged according to a completely randomized design. The first factor is the grain of rice husk ash 0, 5 and 10 ton/ha. And the second factor is the grain OPEB compost 0, 5 and 10 ton/ha. Parameters observed are hight of plant, stem diameter, header width, day flowering, number of fruit crops, weigth of fruit crops. The results of observation data were further analyze by Duncan new multiple range test at 5% level. The results showed that the interaction of rice husk ash and OPEB compost gave effect on all parameters, Rice husk ash 10 ton/ha and OPEB compost          10 ton/ha is the best treatment to the growth and yield of pepper plants compared to other treatment. Keywords :   Rice husk ash, compost of oil palm empty bunches,  pepper plant, peat medium.
