Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted in June 2018. This study aims to identify the types of fisheries and non-fisheries business work carried out by fishermen household members, analyzing the contribution of fisheries and non-fisheries business income to fishermen households. The method carried out in this study is a survey method, namely by conducting observations and direct reviews and collecting samples taken 10% of the total population with simple sampling random sampling. The results of this study indicate that the types of activities carried out by members of fishing households in fisheries and non-fisheries businesses.      The types of fisheries and non-fisheries business carried out by fisherman household members in Bagan Deli Village, Medan Belawan Sub-District, Medan City, North Sumatra Province are in fisheries businesses, such as factories, maintaining ships, selling fish, drying salted fish, repairing nets, boat men , while the work carried out by fishermen from non-fisheries businesses is like Building Workers, Coffee Shops, Ojek, Security Guards, Trading, Keep Cellphones, Maintain Shops, Take Care of Pharmacies, Car Drivers, Sell Gasoline, Public Transportation Drivers, Building Workers and Elementary Workers. The average income of a fishery business is IDR. 2,785,400 with contributions as much as (56%), and the average income from non-fishery businesses is IDR. 2,221,667  with a contribution of (44%).Keywords: Contributions, non-fisheries, income of fishermen house holds

Abstract

ABSTRACT The research was conducted from Mei until June 2019 at the Laboratory of Marine Chemistry and Ecotoxicology, Research Center of Oceanography, Indonesian Institute of Sciences, Jakarta. The purpose of this research was to determine the 96-h IC50, LOEC, NOEC and the chlorophyll-a content after the exposure of cadmium and copper  to microalgae I. galbana. The result showed that  the response due to the treatmeant given is not from the influence of water quality parameters, the 96-h IC50 value of cadmium and copper for growth of I. galbana was  1.3706mg/l and 0.0117 mg/l,  respectively the LOEC cadmium and copper was 0.32 mg/l and 0.0056 mg/l, the NOEC cadmium and copper was <0.32 mg/l and<0.0056 mg/l. Based on data IC50, cooper was more toxic than cadmium to the microalgae I. galbana. The chlorophyill-a content correlates with the percent decrease in microalgae cell density. Keyword :IC50, LOEC, NOEC, I. galbana, Toxicyty

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to determine the distribution of mangroves and map the mangrove using satellite image data in the district of Bantan, Riau Province. Determination of the sampling location with purposive sampling with 3 station point, namely Jangkang Village, Selat Baru Village and Bantan Tengah Village, Bantan District. This research was carried out in April 2018 in Bantan District. Then analyzed in the Oceanographic Physics Laboratory Department of Marine Sciences, Riau University. The results of analysis of February 2018 landsat 8 image recording were 184.251 ha. The highest tree density in3 station points, namely Rhizophora apiculata, namely 500 ind/ha and the lowest tree density, Bruguiera gymnorrhizaand Xylocarpus granatum with 33.33 ind/ha. The highest seedling density wasRhizophora apiculata, wich is 2.000 ind/ha and the lowest density Bruguiera gymnorrhizawith 133.33 ind/ha. The number of mangrove species found were Rhizophora apiculata, Avicennia alba, Sonneratia ovata, Rhizophora mucronata, Xylocarpus granatum, and Bruguiera gymnorrhiza.      Keyword: image data, mangrove, Bantan District

Abstract

ABSTRAK The research aims to determine the best probiotic dose to increase the growth rate and survival of vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). This research was conducted on March 3 to April 11, 2019, which took place in the Technical Implementation Unit Bantan on Mariman street, Teluk Papal Village, a subdistrict of Bantan, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. The method used is the experimental method with a completely randomized design model with 4 levels of treatment and 3 replications. The treatments used are P1: giving probiotics at a dose of 2,5 ml/m3, P2: giving probiotics at a dose of 5 ml/m3, P3: giving probiotics at a dose of 7,5 ml/m3, P4: giving probiotics at a dose of 10 ml/m3. The results of this study indicate that the administration of different doses of probiotics in the maintenance of vannamei shrimp significantly affected absolute weight growth, specific growth rate, feed efficiency, feed conversion ratio and survival of vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). The best treatment is found in P4 which is giving probiotics at a dose of 20 ml/m3 with the results of absolute weight growth of 2.27 g, a specific growth rate of 7.01%, feed efficiency 85.32%, feed conversion ratio of 1.17 and survival of 98.33 %. The range of water quality during the study in all treatments, namely temperatures between 27-310C, salinity 25-33 ppt, pH 6-7, and ammonia 0.33-0.08 mg / L.Keywords: Litopenaeus vanamei, probiotik, survival rate

Abstract

ABSTRACTRasbora cephalotaenia is found in the Kandis River. A study aims to understand the reproductive biology of R. cephalotaenia has been conducted on March - May 2018. The fish was sampled 4 times , once/ 2 weeks. Parameters measured were sex ratio, gonad maturity level, Gonad Somatic Index (GSI), fecundity and egg diameter. Results shown that there was 75 males and 53 females (sex ratio 2:1). Size at maturity level in male ranged from 57.49 mm SL, while that of the females was 69.24 mm SL. The average of male’s GSI ranged from 4.75 - 7.06%, while  that of the females was 7.02 - 13.73%. The average of fecundity was 2,416 eggs and egg diameter was 0.28 - 0.56 mm. Based on the size and distribution of egg diameter, it can be concluded that this fish is a partial spawner. Keywords: Sex ratio, gonad maturity level, gonad somatic index, total spawner

Abstract

AbstractMany activities in the Perupuk Lake contribute the input of organic and anorganic mattet that affects the nutrient concentration and increasing thr growth of phytoplankton. A research about Thophic State of Perupuk Lake by Phytoplankton in Kampung Pinang Village Kampar District Riau Province has been conducted in June-July 2019. The location of the water samples to measure water quality defined 3 stations, namely in the inlet, the curve of the lake, and in the end of the lake. In each station, there were 2 sampling points, namely in the surface (0.15 m) and 2 Secchi depth (0.90 m). Samplings were conducted 3 times at intervals of a week. Water quality parameters measured in this research were temperature, transparency, depth, pH, dissolved oxygen, CO2, nitrate and phosphate. Results shown that there were 38 species of phytoplankton that were belonged to 7 classes, namely Chlorophyceae (16 spesies), Bacillariophyceae (4 spesies), Cyanophyceae (5 spesies), Euglenophyceae (1 spesies), Trebouxiophyceae (4 spesies), Cryptophyceae (1 spesies) dan Zygnematophyceae (7 spesies). The phytoplankton abundance of the Perupuk Lake was 46.481-74.959  cells/L. The most common type of phytoplankton present was Monoraphodium griffithii. Results shown that the temperaturewas 28-30 0C, transparency was 40-54 cm, depth was 1-2 m, pH was 5, dissolved oxygen was 5.02-6.81 mg/L, CO2 was 5.99-15.98 mg/L, nitrate was 0.0125-0.9646 mg/L and phosphate was 0.0553-0.2235mg/L and. Based on the type and abundance of phytoplankton present, it can be concluded that the Perupuk Lake can be categorized as mesotrophic.Keywords : Oxbow Lake, Phytoplankton, Water Quality, Monoraphodium   griffithii, Mesotrophic

Abstract

AbstractMotan fish (Thynnichthys thynnoides) are found in the Bay of Petai Lake, Buluh Nipis Village, Kampar Regency. This study aims to examine the growth patterns exist in otolith. This research was conducted in March-April 2019. Sample fish were captured using gillnet and sempirai fishing gear. The sampled  fish is 95 tails (59 males and 36 females). Otolith (sagita) is sharpened and the growth circle pattern is seen using a binocular microscope. The results of the study foundthatthe otolith length was 1,175-3,65 weight 0,0022-0,0178 g and the core distance to the first black circle ranged from 0.2-0.97 mm. This shows that the first dark circles are formed individually and the dark circle is not formed by periodic events in the life of motan fish. The number of dark circles on otolith is 1-3. Abstract

 Abstract The butchery liquid waste is rich in fatty oil and ammonia and its need to be processed before being dispose to environment. A study aims to reduce the fatty oil and ammonia content in that waste has been conducted in March – April 2018. The waste (315 L) was treated using a batch system that was consisted of 2 aerob and 2 anaerob tanks. The butchery liquid waste was kept for 10 days in anaerob tanks, 7 days in aerob tanks. By the end of the experiment, the fatty oil reduced from 63 mg/l to 4.5 mg/l (the effectiveness was of 92.85 %). While the ammonia reduced from 30 mg/l – 0.8 mg/l (the effectiveness was 97.33 %). Other water quality parameters such as DO was improved (from 1 mg/L to 5 mg/L), and pH also increased (from 6 to 8). The treated waste is used as media for rearing Brachionus plicatilis.Observations of Brachionus plicatilis were performed for 8 days. The peak of rotifera growth occurs in the sixth day, reaching 950,000 cells/ml. Based on data obtained, it can be concluded that the combination of bio filters is effective to reduce the fatty oil and ammonia content in the butchery liquid waste. Keyword :thebutchery liquid waste, organic pollutants, batch system, Brachionus plicatilis

Abstract

ABSTRACT              This study aimed to determine the best concentration of shrimp rebon (Mysis relicta) protein hydrolyzateand the characteristics of sago crackers (Metroxylonsp.) fortified with the shrimp protein hydrolyzate. The method used was the experimental and composed as a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The treatment conducted was fortification of shrimp protein hydrolyzate at a different concentration (0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%) to the sago flour to produce the highest quality of the crackers. The parameters observed were the proximate composition, including the content of water,ash, fat, protein, carbohydrate; the puffingstrength; and an organoleptic value (color, aroma, taste and crispness) of the crackers produced. The results showed that the treatment of fortification with 15% shrimp protein hydrolyzate was producing the best crackers. The best product was characterized with brownish-white features and very interesting appearance, shrimprebon flavored, highly tasted of shrimprebon, and very crunchy. It was showing the puffing strength at 327.92% and the proximate composition, including the content of water 7.65%, ash 1.41%, fat 0.46%, protein 18.35%, carbohydrate 72,11% and growth power 327.92%. Keywords: fortification, protein hydrolyzate, sago crackers.

Abstract

ABSTRACT           This research was conducted in January 2019, the sample was collected from the  coastal waters of Sungai Pakning, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. This study aims to analysis content of organic sediments and abundance of macrozoobenthos, then the relationship between the content of organic matter and the abundance of macrozoobenthos in the waters of the Sungai Pakning. The method used in the research is the survey method. The range of organic matter in the waters of the Sungai Pakning is 6,73%-12,76% and the abundance of the average macrozoobenthos is 11,85 ind/m2-17,78 ind/m2 with the dominant species being Anadara granosa. The influence of organic matter content on macrozoobenthos abundance has a coefficient determination (R2) of 0,406 which means that the influence of organic matter in the waters of the Sungai Pakning is 40,60% while 59,40% is influenced by other factors. This is because the mangrove vegetation contributes greatly to organic matter.Keywords: Sungai Pakning, Sediment Organic Matter, Macrozoobenthos, Anadara granosa, Mangrove vegetation.
