Abstract

ABSTRACT The level of electricity usage needs continues to increase each year in line with increased economic growth. One of the technologies used in producing electricity is the PLTU (Thermal Power Station) where PLTU Teluk Sirih is the first PLTU in West Sumatra that has been operating since 2013 and has a capacity of 2x112 MW. The existence of a power plant in the waters of Sirih Bay is thought to affect the characteristics of these waters. This is because besides producing electricity, it also produces hot water waste from the process of absorbing hot steam that enters the coastal waters through the outlet channel. The purpose of this study was to determine the distribution process of hot water waste from PLTU Teluk Sirih at high tide and ebb with field data and hydrodynamic modeling of waters, as well as sea surface temperature observation data at 16 sampling points. Verification of field data and hydrodynamic models has a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) value of 5.74% (e = 0.015). The pattern of ocean circulation in the waters of the Sirih Bay Coast is mainly controlled by the tidal force, where the flow pattern at the time of the tides goes northeast with some moving towards the southwest. Observations show the temperature of the waste of hot water in the outlets until the sea in front of them is recorded between 32 °c to 35 °c. Horizontally, the delusional zone of the waste heat reaches a radius of 500 m from the mouth of the outlet where the waste heat occurs more broadly during low tide conditions. Keywords : PLTU Teluk Sirih, Heat Waste, Hydrodynamic Model

Abstract

ABSTRAKPariaman City is a coastal and marine area, where fish products have an important role in the economic cycle, one of which is in Naras Village 1. This study aims to determine the selectivity of mesh size on the composition and size of catches on gill net. The method used in this study is experimental fishing, a method that uses a sample of objects to be observed. The results of this study indicate that there are 9 species of fish caught on a mesh size of 1.5 inch and 1.75 inch, kurisi (Nemipterus hexodon), barakuda (Sphyraena barracuda), mojjaras (Eucinostomus),selar kuning (Selaroides leptolepis), beloso (Saurida tumbill), parang-parang (Chirocentrus nudus), kembung (Rastrelliger spp), tenggiri (Scomberomorus commersoni), and kaci-kaci (Painted sweetlips). Dominant fish caught in both mesh sizes are 320 fish kurisi or 41% of the total catch, with a total length of 13.5 - 25.7 cm, fork length 11.5 - 23.2 cm, height 3 , 2 - 5.6 cm and weigh 40 - 170 g. Difference in mesh size that is not too large only gives a slight effect both on the total number of catches and the average fork length of fish caught. The most selective basic gill nets are gill nets with a mesh size of 1.75 inches, this is because the mesh size of 1.75 inches only catches large-sized fish that are worth catching and can pass small fish. Keywords: selectivity, bottom gillnet, fish kurisi, naras 1 village.
