Abstract

Peryphiton has an important role in food chain, as it is able to absorb CO2 and release O2 which is very useful for other organisms and environment. The purpose of this research is to study the community which includes the abundance, diversity and the type of dominant ephilitic peryphiton in the Kampar River that flown in the Tabing Village. This research was conducted in January 2015. Peryphiton samples were collected from 4 stations. The peryphiton was collected by scraping stone surface (5 x 5 cm) using a tooth brush. The scraped materials were kept in plastic jars and filled with 50 ml aquadest and then were fixed using lugol (3 drops/ 50 ml samples). The peryphiton were then identified based on YunFang (1995). Results shown that there were 49 species of ephilitic peryphiton and they were belonged to 5 classes, namely Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Xanthophyceae and Dinophyceae. The abundance of the peryphiton ranged from 9,833 – 32,917 cells/l and the diversity index (H ') ranged from 3.995 - 4.928, it means that the distribution of each type is high. The uniformity (E) index ranged from 0.871 - 0.988, it means that the uniformity is balance. The Dominancy index (C) ranged from 0.043 - 0.269, it means that there is no dominant species. These results demonstrate that the diversity of the ephilitic peryphiton in the Kampar River is high and there is no dominant species. Keywords: Community, periphyton Epilitik, Kampar River

Abstract

Sail River is one of the most polluted river in Pekanbaru. A study aims to understand the physical, chemical and biological condition of water quality in the river was conducted from February to Mai 2015. The biological condition of the water was analyzed based on type and population of macrozoobenthos present in the river. Parameters measured were temperature, depth, transparency, turbidity, current speed, TSS, pH, DO, BOD, COD, nitrate and phosphate content. Data were analyzed using the NFS-WQI and FBI method. Results shown that the macrozoobenthos present in the Sail river were consisted of 3 phylum and 6 family, namely Annelid (Tubificidae), Arthropod (Chironomidae), and Mollusks (Ampullidae, Bithyniidae/ Bulimidae, Thiaridae). The water quality parameters in the Sail River are as follow: temperature 29-30oC, depth 0.21-0.56 m, transparency 6.45-15.27 cm, turbidity 112-593 NTU, current speed 8.08-26.58 cm/s, TSS 44.00-173.67 mg/L, pH 5-6, DO 2.80-11.51 mg/L, BOD5 4.77-29.12 mg/L, COD 10.67-44.80 mg/L, nitrate 0.18-0.81 mg/L and phosphate 1.06-1.71 mg/L. Based on NSF-WQI result, the water quality in the Sail River was categorized as poor to very poor (27.97-14.68), while the FBI value (8-8.72) indicates that the river was badly contaminated.Keyword: Sail River, water quality, NSF-WQI, Family Biotic Index, Macrozoobenthos

Abstract

In general a boat building must be adjusted with cost estimation, to creates efficient and effective building. Cost estimation is an importance activity on boat building because it will be a starting point to make offering finance system and scheduling implementation. Nowaday, the traditional shipyard at Bagansiapi-api still using building cost calculation manually, where as it is need long process and more complex. This research aim is to create RAB aplication for traditional shipyard’s boat building at Bagan Siapi-api, where it is constructed by using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) or Macro Excel. Data of costs of material as well as wedge are collected and programmed to be a syntax to create user interface for the ship with principal dimensions as LOA = 14 m, B = 3,2 m, d = 1,10 m. Building cost consist of hull and bridge, machinery and equipment, electrical, navigation equipment, additional equipment, shipyard services, purse seine fishing gear, sea trial that each price are estimated based on interview to ship owner and foreman. The result of RAB is Rp605.699.000,- . This aplication also can simplify calculation process for every users. Keywords: Bagan Siapi-api, Cost Estimation, Macro Excel, Purse Seine, Shipyard

Abstract

Siak River is the most polluted river in Riau, however, many types of fish, including Rasbora argyrotaenia living in that river. As the water is polluted, the health of the fish in general, including its gill structure might be harmed. A study aims to understand the histological structure of the gill of fish from the Siak River has been conducted in February 2015. Abnormality in the gill was noted and the abnormality level was identified using a Histopathological Alteration Index (HAI). Results shown that the types of abnormality present were hyperplasia, hypertrophy, atrophy, epithelium rupture and congestion. The HAI level (13 - 14) indicate that the gill of the R. argyrotaenia from the Siak River was slight damage. This abnormality might be cured if the water quality in the Siak River is good.Keyword: Siak River, Histopathological Alteration Index (HAI), Histology, Abnormality in the gill.
