Abstract

The number of vehicles is very influential on the CO2 produced and can cause increased Greenhouse Gas emissions because it has the ability to absorb CO2 emissions. Pekanbaru Development Area IV is one of the Development Areas that has the potential to produce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. This research was conducted to determine the number of motorized vehicles and the value of CO2 emissions produced each day. The method used is recording traffic activities to calculate the amount of CO2 emissions. The research results obtained, namely the number of vehicles from transportation in the Development Area IV Pekanbarun can be concluded that the number of densest vehicles occurs on arterial roads on Sundays with the number of vehicles as much as 33,082 vehicles / day, for the collector road the highest number of vehicles on the Bukit Barisan road on Sundays as many as 19,186 vehicles / day, while for the densest local roads on the road I Work on Monday as many as 9,981 vehicles / day. Abstract

Clay and water hyacinth are natural resource which is a lot. Water hyacinth in huge amount can disturb the water ecosystem, whereas it can be use as adsorbent to remove polutant, especially metal. Both of them have a good removal efficiency for polutant that requiring another research to know the leverage of interfence of clay and eichornia crossipes against polutant. Research using adsorbtion method by varying the mass ratio of the interference that is 1; 1,5; 2 and 2,5 gr. The result showed that interfence adsorbent with water hyacinth 1 gr and clay 2,5 gr of mass ratio is the best interfence to remove mangan (Mn), organic substance and color in amount of 82,61%, 58,89% and 85,75%, while the additional of 1 gr of water hyacinth can remove 88,98% of iron (Fe). The interfence adsorbent is not effective to remove organic substance and color in peat water because the concentration is still passing the quality standard set by Permenkes Number 492/2010.Keywords : Clay, water hyacinth and adsorbtion

Abstract

One of abnormal conditions that may happen when operating synchronous generator is overheating at armature winding. Therefore, this condition is needed to overcome to avoid further damage in the generator by designing and implementing smart relay based overheating protection. Temperature at armature winding is as an input of the smart relay where it was measured by using LM35DZ sensor. Magnetic contactor was used as switch, where it will open when the temperature higher then setting value. The overheat protection design was implemented successfully where it can trip (disconnect generator from the system by opening magnetic contactor) when the armature winding temperature is higher than 60° C.Keyword: Synchronous generator, armature winding, Smart Relay, Temperature Sensor, Zelio Soft 2

Abstract

This study investigated the ability of hydroxyapatite (HA) to adsorb aqueous Cd2+, Pb2+ and Cu2+ metal ions from single-metal and multi-metal ions reaction systems. Hydroxyapatite as adsorbent made from wasted-eggshell through precipitate calcium carbonate (PCC) processes. Based on AAS as intrumentation, show that in single metal ions adsorption, the sorption affinity of HA for Pb(II) is always higher than that for Cu(II) and for Cd(II); the sorption maxima for the Cd2+, Pb2+ and Cu2+ metal ions follow the order Pb2+ > Cu2+ > Cd2+. The greatest sorption percentage of Pb(II) is 99,338% ; Cu(II) is 95,403% and Cd(II) is 86,343%. The sorption affinity of HA for metal ions follow the order Pb2+ > Cu2+ > Cd2+ , this could be inversely proportional to the hydrated ionic radii as Pb2+ (4.01 Å) < Cu2+ (4.19 Å) < Cd2+ (4.26 Å).Keywords: hydroxyapatite (HA), Cd, Pb, Cu, competitive adsorption, adsorption selectivity, hydrated ionic radii

Abstract

Excessive use of fossil energy has a bad impact on humans and the environmentals. Generally, the use of fossil energy has now entered a critical phase because of the lack of availability of fossil energy resources. Indonesia is located in the equatorial region that gets sunlight all the year round. Solar energy is a primary energy that offers the opportunity to replace fossil energy. Solar energy is processed by using a solar panel modules system and can be stored in the batteries. The source voltage that connected to the battery must first be stabilized using a DC converter. In this article, the design and simulation of solar PV battery charger using buck-boost converter topology with MATLAB-simulink software is presented. Solar PV battery charger is designed with an output voltage of 16.8 V and a current of 6 A, which will charge the lithium-ion battery (li-ion) where it has a nominal voltage of 14.8 V with a capacity of 20.8 Ah.Keywords—solar PV battery charger, buck-boost converter, lithium-ion battery, MATLAB-Simulink

Abstract

The use of Portland Composite Cement (PCC) as a substitute material in fly ash geopolymer hybrid concrete will accelerate the geopolymer reaction since the geopolymer becomes more reactive. In this study, the fly ash geopolymer hybrid concrete used 12 M NaOH concentration, modulus of silicate (Ms) 2.5 and 15% PCC cement, and extra water 80 kg/m3. Geopolymer hybrid concrete treatment were carried out at room temperature. Tests carried out were compressive strength and flexural strength at 7 and 28 days. The results showed the compressive strength of geopolymer hybrid concrete against PCC concrete had a decreasing percentage of difference from 34,54% (6,68 MPa) at 7 days to 20,01% (4,49 MPa) at 28 days. Then, the percentage of flexural strength difference decreased from 31.09% (1.25 MPa) at seven days to 28.55% (1.39 MPa) at 28 days. It was concluded that fly ash did not significantly affect the split tensile strength of geopolymer hybrid concrete 28 at days.The results showed that the compressive strength and flexural strength of the geopolymer hybrid concrete were lower than these of PCC concrete.Keywords : Mechanical properties, hybrid geopolymer concrete, PCC, room temperature.

Abstract

Long Term Evolution - Advanced (LTE-A) is a 4G wireless broadband technology based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). It provides improved system capacity and coverage, high peak data rate and low latency. OFDM technology is used to reduce the Intersymbol Interference (ISI), however it increases the effect of Intercell Interference (ICI) due to single frequency used. The high ICI will give affect to the perfomance of users at the cell edge and cell centre. To avoid the ICI, the ICI management is required.In this paper, the ICI management is described. There are three schemes are analyzed such as Frequency Reuse 1 (FR1), Fractional Frequency Reuse (FFR), Soft Frequency Reuse (SFR). From the simulation results, the best results are provided by SFR. Abstract

In this era, research application of composite such as furniture, aerospace, automotive components made from synthetic fibers. Natural fibers can substitute of synthetic fibers. The one of natural fiber oil palm empty fruits bunch (OPEFB) is composite was waste residue of the processing palm oil utilization which use as compost and fuel of combustion proces in boiler palm oil mill. Generally, the part of areca usually use is nut, while fibers are throw 5% NaOH for 4 hours and boiling distilled water for 1 hour as a composite of a polymeric foam to the mechanical properties of the composite. OPEFB and areca fibers use as the reinforcement and polyester resin use as matrix. In this research, method of manufacture used Vacuum Assisted Resin Infusion (VARI). The results showed the highest value of yield strength 4.76 MPa, tensile strength 16.08 MPa, fracture strength 16.08 MPa in the areca fiber composite treatment NaOH 5%, for modulus elasticity 22.49 GPa in the areca fiber treatment of boiling distilled water, strain total 7.81% in the OPEFB fiber composite treatment immersion of 5% NaOH. Abstract

The removal efficiency of adsorption is very dependent on the type of adsorbent. The use of hydroxyapatite as an adsorbent for synthetic dyes still needs to be developed. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of dyes and adsorbent mass on removal efficiency, and the best conditions in the adsorption process using of hydroxyapatite. Analysis was conducted by spectrophotometric and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) methods. The results showed that the mass of the adsorbent affects the removal efficiency of dyes. The best removal efficiency is at 0.5 g adsorbent mass for each dye. Adsorption capacity for methylene blue at 2 minutes was 1.96 mg/g with 26,12% of removal efficiency. Adsorption capacity for methyl red at 5 minutes was 6.68 mg/g with 89% of removal efficiency. Dye adsorption was not found during adsorption process of methyl orange. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analysis showed that there was no adsorption of azo group on all spectra, indicated that there was not chemical reaction between the adsorbent and the adsorbate during the adsorption process.Key Words: adsorption, hydroxyapatite, methyl orange, methyl red, methylene blue.
