Abstract

Most energy consumption in the chemical industry is used for temperature change operations. Heat integration method is used to increase energy efficiency on process streams and reducing utility requirement in the production process by installing Heat Exchanger Network (HEN). Design of HEN can be done by software assistance or often called tools for speed up the design time. Therefore software that can be obtained for free and can be developed openly is needed. Program for HEN design is created by Python programming language and applying computational algorithm Maximum Energy Recovery (MER) target calculation using interval-temperature (IT) method and network design using pinch method. The program will be displayed by Graphical User Interface (GUI) using PyQt library on Python.Keyword: heat integration, HEN, software, Python, PyQt

Abstract

Gold metal has been using in electronics and telecommunication industry, for example, Motherboard computer. The separation of gold from the Motherboard computer has been done in this study. To get the maximum results in the separation of the are gold used variations potential difference ( 6; 9; 12 volt ) and the type of precipitant (NaHSO3 and H2C2O4) . In this study, a certain number of samples is used samples Motherboard computer electrolyzed H2SO4 for 1 hour. The precipitate formed is separated from the filtrate. The precipitate was dissolved in Aqua Regia at a temperature of 70˚C for 30 minutes further diluted with Aqua DM until the volume is 50 mL . Au concentration was analyzed by AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry) and Au deposited with NaHSO3 and H2C2O4 . Based on the analysis result, the maximum Au concentration at the former Motherboard computer is equal to 2.285 ppm. For 5 grams of the sample , the maximum weight of Au precipitate obtained 0.97 grams by using H2C2O4 as a precipitant .Keywords : Au, motherboard computer, electrolisis, precipitant

Abstract

In electric power systems, there are many aspects that must be considered for its operation that is, conductors, insulators, and other electrical system equipment. Especially on insulators, good insulation quality is required to ensure reliability and quality of electric power distribution to consumers. In industrial gas insulation is often used because of its dielectric strength is greater than the other isolation. In general the gas insulation used SF6, N2, and CO2 has good dielectric strength. In this study, the author tries to test the isolation of another alternative gas that is in the form of argon gas. In the test of this research aims to enrich the treasury of the data from testing the penetrating tension with argon gas isolation and as a preliminary study of argon gas isolation in the test of penetrating voltage with high-voltage AC. Tests conducted using variations of electrodes and gas pressure as much as 20 times the test so that the results obtained in the form of breakdown voltage and air correction factor. Abstract

Road is a land transport infrastructure which has important role to facilitate economic activities in a certain area. SM. Amin Road in Pekanbaru is a causeway that connects Pekanbaru city to Minas, Siak. Any damage found on the road can cause serious inconvenience to road users, hence a essential maintenance deemed necessary. Improper overlay design may cause the rapid deterioration (under-design) or the overlay construction is uneconomical (over-design). Therefore, it’s required a spesific method to get a good design overlay. This study revealed that overlay is required for SM. Amin road at KM 03+900 – 05+200. This study compared two different methods of overlay design i.e. Pd T-05-2005-B and i.e. No.04/SE/DB/2017. Pd T-05-2005-B gives overlay thickness of 20 cm where as No.04/SE/DB/2017 gives 11 cm. The big difference in the overlay thickness between the two methods is caused by differences in seasonal factors, temperature correction factors and formulas in overlay calculation.Keywords: Benkelman Beam, Deflection, Overlay

Abstract

This research purpose to synthesis biodiesel from calophyllum inophyllum oil by transesterification reaction using heterogeneous base catalyst Na2SiO3/iron powder. Catalyst was synthesized from fly ash palm oil which supported by iron powder. Synthesis biodiesel on transesterification reaction with the independent variables of this research variations is agitation rate of 200 rpm, 300 rpm and 400 rpm and catalyst can be recycledas much as 3 times for every variation of agitation rate. These conditions aim to determine its effect on the yield of biodiesel produced. Condition operation the transesterification are mol ratio of oil : methanol 1 : 9 and loading catalyst 3%-w of oil feedstock with temperature reaction 60°C during 2 hours reaction time. Physical characterization were done such as density 867 kg/m3, kinematic viscosity 3,96 mm2/s, acid number 0,48 mg-KOH/g biodiesel and flash point 147°C respectively accordance with the Indonesian National Standard. Abstract

In order to fulfill the water irrigation requirements for Koto Rajo Irrigation Area, will be planned Pebendungan Weir that can be used to accommodate the additional water supply from Pebendungan River to the Irigation System in Koto Rajo. Weir is transverse building river server to elevate water to be taken down and streamed to a channel throught the building retrieval. The research was using secondary data of daily rainfall during 15 years from Sentajo stations. The forces that counts was gravity itself, seismic force, hidrostatik, uplift pressure and the analysis of the stability of weir stability that counts was the overturning and slip. The results of the study were obtained the design of weir hydraulics plan had been accepted for the conditions of Q50th = 36,946 m3/sec.Height of weir is 1,30 m with circle spillway and widht is 13,62 m. From dimensions of the flood discharge obtained value Froude of 2,34. and been building an megrim vlughter type. Dimensions of weir was safe to overturning and slip that work well during normal water level conditions and maximum water level condition.Keywords: Weir, stability analysis, overturning, sliding

Abstract

The decrease of road verformance is due to various factors such as the activities on the side of the road. These activities include side barriers, such as in and out vehicles, stopping vehicles, roadside parking, and pedestrians. Soekarno-Hatta Road in front of Transmart mall is currently experiencing a performance decreased during peak hours due to the increasing volume of traffic flow caused by the activity of the vehicles that going in and out fromTransmart mall. The purpose of this study is to analyze the traffic performance on the Soekarno-Hatta road in front of the Transmart Mall and find solutions to solve the problemthere. Road performance calculation method in this study was referenced to Indonesian Road Capacity Manual (MKJI 1997). The traffic data wer calculated over four days. Based on theanalysis of existing conditions at the highest peak hours occurred on Saturday at 16:15 to 17:15 pm with the result Q = 2553 pcu/hour, C = 3234 pcu/hour and DS = 0,79. Therequirement of DS < 0,75 (MKJI 1997), while the existing DS is 0,79, exceeds the MKJI requirement, so it needs a certain traffic arrangement to improve the performance of the road.One of the alternative improvement is widening the road by 5 m, from the initial width of 7 m to 12 m, This widening decreases DS value to 0,5 which is fulfill DS requirement (DS <0,75).Keywords: Soekarno-Hatta Road, Road Performance, Side Barriers, MKJI 1997

Abstract

Indonesian is a tropical climate in general, including areas with highlightning days each year. A prominent mountain or tower in the middle of a free area of rice fields, fields, gardens, etc. it has the possibility of a higher radiation than places in the middle of the city surrounded by other tall buildings. The need for electricity is very important. So it needs a reliable system of electric power, service, and continuity of maximum 150 kV High Voltage Air Channels electricity distribution is part of the electric power transmission system. This channel is quite often a direct lightning strike disruption which can result in Back Flashover in the channel. To minimize this disturbance used the Independent Ground Wire System (IGWS) system installed along the 150 kV Transmission Line. Then to determine the correlation of ground wire with the value of tower ground resistance against back flashover due to direct lightning strikes using ATP-EMTP Software. The Simulation results show that the relationship of ground wire with tower ground resistance value is the greater than lightning impulse current and the tower grounding value. The peak voltage on the tower and phase wire increase.The phase voltage of the phase wire which is exposed to the back flashover on the 70 kA lightning impulse with the phase wire voltage of 1.66 MVolt.Keywords: ATP-EMTP, Back Flashover, Ground Wire, Tower grounding value.

Abstract

The high dependence of fuel resource such as oil, coal, and gas will influence the depletion of fossil resources (oil, natural gas, and coal). Therefore, it is important to study conversion of pineapple peel to bioethanol as renewable energy to overcome dependence on fossil fuels. This research was conducted the fermentation of pineapple peel with concentrated medium variation to obtain high concentration of bioethanol. This work is aimed to study of bioethanol production from pineapple peel with concentrated medium variation with Zymomonas mobilis to increasing the concentration of the sugar inside the medium to obtain maximum conditions on producing bioethanol. Fermentation was conducted in 2 Liter fermentor with variations of fermentation time from 12 ; 24 ; 36 ; 48 ; 60 ; 72 until 84 hours respectively and concentratedmedium variation from 15% ; 20% ; 25% until 30%. respectively. The concentration of bioethanol was increased by increasing of concentrated medium variation. Maximum conditions of bioethanol production from pineapple peel were shown having 30%concentrated medium variation, and fermentation hours 60th about 8,79 % v/v.Keywords: bioethanol, concentrated, pineapple peel, Zymomonas Mobilis

Abstract

Malay people defined house just not as residence, but also as the light of life, hereditary place, anchored place of the kin, past merchants stopover and parents debt to their children. Thisresearch purpose identified characteristic and ornamen decoration traditional home building art Malay in Siak. Research methodology used through field surveys, documentation, and analysis oftraditional malay buildings such as Datuk Zein Pesisir house, Datuk Djalil house, Sharwan Hamid house, Panjang Palace, Paraduan Palace and Kerapatan Tinggi Hall. The results of this researchexplained how application traditional home building art of Siak can be applied to contemporary design by applying characteristic of Malay Siak Building like structure, column, ladder, wall, door,window, roof, and ornament of decoration. This Researh be also confirmed that traditional home building art can be an inspiration and applied to contemporary design.Keywords: Architecture, Malay, Siak
