Abstract

Indonesian especially those in urban areas, currently actively undertaking development in various fields especially building construction. If the building is not maintained during the designated life of the plan, then the resistance of the structure of the building will quickly decrease and cause the building will quickly be damaged. Therefore, one of the solutions for maintaining structural resistance required building inspection by using accelerometer sensor. Result of recordings accelerometer sensor will be used as a reference in determining structural damage, so it can determine healthy from structure. This research is obtained to give information response structure from accelerometer data. Structural damage can determine using the equations developed by Jer Fu Wang, Chi Chang, and Shih Min. The building model is irregular reinforced concrete with three levels and height between level is 3,5 m. Building model will receive a dynamic loads from the results of accelerometer sensor. The vibration data used is June 4 and December 11 of 2016 at 06.00, 12.00, 18.00 WIB. The vibration data will be input for building model in doing the linear time history analysis and static nonlinear pushover by using the software finite element. From the analysis, maximum structure behavior is 11 December 2016 at 12.00 WIB. The value of stiffness for pushover analysis in the first step is 5,454, the second step is 5,243, the third step is 5,477, and the fourth step is 5,560. The value of stiffness for linear time history is 5,599. The value of SDI (Story Damage Index) in the first step is 0,026, the second step is 0,064, the third step 0,022 and the fourth step is 0,007. From the results of this SDI, the irregular reinforced concrete building is still in healthy condition.Keywords: accelerometer sensor, structural damage, structural health monitoring

Abstract

Special school for the deaf in Siak is an children educational facility with hearing impairment in siak. Deaf limitations in impairment of hearing or in receiving information verbally make vision a major factor in information gathering. The design of special deaf schools in Siak is very necessary because the special schools in siak are still mixed which is serving many categories of people with disabilities so that the design and special educational facilities for deaf children are not prioritized especially in paying attention to the character and behavior of the deaf. In this case, the design of special deaf schools uses the behavior mapping method of person-center maps in observing deaf behavior and the application principle of deafspace guidelines as design ideas namely, space and proximity, sensory reach, mobility proximity, light and color, accoustics. Through the concept of deaf character building can meet the needs of the deaf in accordance with the patterns of behavior and character of the deaf in terms of personality, language, physical and emotional and social aspects.Keywords: Siak, Special Schools, Deaf, Deafspace Guidelines

Abstract

Chinese cultures are still implemented and applied in Bagansiapiapi as an expression of worship and gratitude to the ancestors. These chinese festivals are celebrated in Bagansiapiapi cause the culture and history of Chinese are known by the local people, both in domestic and abroad. But the problems are the supporting facilities and the places to accommodate these activities are in a low number. Because of that, Chinese Cultural Center in Bagansiapiapi need a building as the activities center that focuses on Chinese culture and to support cultural facilities, to make sure people known about Chinese history, where pedigree is from, and the culture. This research used contemporary architecture approach which suited by the present time, and the Chinese architectural buildings will be able to reflect the contemporary Chinese building without losing the characteristics of the building itself. Through the concept of "Lion Dance" or as known as Barongsai, the building can demonstrate the movement patterns of the Barongsai itself. It also used the Chinese elements including the use of a courtyard, emphasis on the shape of the roof, open structural elements, and the use of colors on the buildings.keywords: Chinese Culture Center, Bagansiapiapi, Contemporary Architecture

Abstract

The capital of each Province has development activities that increase along with increasing population density due to urbanization so that it results in reduce vegetation land. This condition causes an increase in surface temperature especially in the downtown area and triggers the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon. This study aims to analyze UHI phenomena based on surface temperature (LST) and index vegetation using a method the Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (SAVI). Surface temperature extraction and land cover wereobtained from Landsat imagery. Based on the estimated surface temperature (LST) in 1996 the minimum temperature was 12,4oC and the maximum temperature was 25,8oC, while the average temperature was 19,1oC. in 2018 the minimum temperature is 19,2oC and the maximum temperature is 36,1oC, while the average temperature is 28,7oC.Keywords: Urban Heat Island, Surface Temperature, Normalized differentvegetation Index

Abstract

Modern dance is currently very popular in Pekanbaru city because modern dance identical with everything that is new and not difficult to learn, this is proven by many modern dance communities in Pekanbaru city. From year to year the modern dance community in Pekanbaru cityis increasing, along with many large annual events held in Pekanbaru city. The method in this design is to use the metaphor Architecture approach by applying all its characteristics. The conceptthat used is arm wave, obtained from one of the modern dance movements. Abstract

The Dumai City always make an exhibition event for every years called Dumai Expo that to celebrate Dumai City's birthday. Besides Dumai Expo event, there are also other events that held such as religious events, gatherings of important people, music festivals, cultural festivals, performances, and many other. Therefore, the Convention and Exhibition Center will be a place that can be used to accommodate those events. The method in this design is to use the High-Tech Architecture approach by applying all its characteristics. The concept that used is Celebration of Unity, obtained from the design functions and themes. The application of the concept on this design is divided into two part namely Celebration on the buildings and Unity on landscape design.Key word: Convention, Exhibition, High-Tech Architecture

Abstract

Wear is the loss of material from the surface of solid objects as a result of mechanical motion. The type of wear that can occur on a machine tool are flank wear and crater wear. Flank wear that occurs on a tool in this case the milling machine can make improper workmanship, damage to the machine, endanger the machine operator, and will cause a decrease in productivity. Observation of the tool condition when not working can be done by measuring using a microscope or measuring the volume of the tool, but this measurement will also reduce the level of production. A system to observe the condition of the tool and detect damage that occurs to the tool and to the working machine is needed to avoid losses that can be caused by tool wear. This system use a microphone as a sensor for the sound singals generated when the engine is working. The signal obtained by the microphone in analog data form is forwarded to the sound card to be converted into digital data. The sound signals were processed by FFT to transfer time domain to frequency domain. The value of magnitude obtained in cutting process with roughing parameters were -40.06 dB at the 1st cut and -37.57 dB at the 33rd cut. magnitude that obtained in cutting process with finishing parameters were -41.51 dB at the 1st cut and -33.98 dB at the 21st cut. Abstract

Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) is one of the palm oil plantation waste that has not been utilized optimally. EFB fiber has a good strength, low density, and it can be used for substituting synthetic fiber composite. However, the strength of EFB fibers is lower than that of synthetic fibers. In addition, EFB fibers also have a poor interface with the matrix and relatively high water absorption. Several methods can be used to increase the bonding strength between the fibers and matrix, alkaline treatment and the addition of coupling agent into the matrix. One of the coupling agent is Maleated Natural Rubber (MNR). The objective of this research is to investigate the effect of the ratio of EFB /E-Glass fibers, ratio of hybrid fibers and matrix as well as the addition of MNR on tensile strength, flexural strength and water absorption of EFB/E-Glass epoxy hybrid composite. The highest tensile strength (77.254 MPa) was obtained in the composition of 40% EFB fiber, 60% matrix and 9% MNR. The highest flexural strength (147.446 MPa) was obtained in the composition of 33.18% EFB fiber, 50% matrix and 10% MNR. The lowest water absorption (4.46%) was obtained in the composition of 40% EFB fiber, 40% matrix and 11% MNR. The results show that the tensile strength increases with the addition of EGlass. While the addition of the matrix and MNR does not significantly affect tensile strength. Flexural strength increases with increasing number of E-Glass and matrix. Abstract

Biomass is currently the largest renewable energy source globally and economically and also an environmentally friendly energy source. One of the potential agricultural wastes that can be used as an alternative fuel is oil palm fronds. The heating value of oil palm fronds is 17.200 kJ/kg. The heating value can be improved by conducting carbonization process followed by densification. With carbonization the smoke forming elements can be minimized, so that the exhaust gas is cleaner. Biomass densification aims to increase density and reduce handling problems such as storage and transportation. The heat value can be increased again by adding an adhesive in the form of glycerol which has a heating value 25.175 kJ/kg. The aim of this study is to produce a solid fuel from oil palm fronds by using carbonization process and to know the characteristics of products. This study aims to produce solid fuel using the densification process of oil palm fronds carbon obtained from the carbonization process, knowing the effect of adhesive composition and compacting pressure in the manufacture of products and knowing the heating value of the products produced. The particle size used where 20 mesh and the adhesive composition used where 90:10, 80:20 and 70:30 %wt. Compacting pressure used where 50, 75 and 100 bar. Data processing in this study was obtained by proximate analysis, density, and using a bomb calorimeter. The highest heating value obtained was 24.604 kJ/kg from the briquette product with the adhesive composition 70:30 and the compacting pressure 50 bar. While for the lowest heating value obtained at 20.693 kJ/kg on briquettes which adhesive composition 90:10 and compacting pressure 100 bar. Process conditions that have a significant effect on heating value are adhesive compositions and compacting pressures.Keywords: densification, glycerol, carbonization, heating value, oil palm fronds

Abstract

Corrosion is a degradation of metals quality caused by chemical reaction between metal and its ambient. The used of green inhibitor is a natural methods to control the corrosion rate of metal. The objective of this research is to count the efficiency of green inhibitor from coffee extract, to find which variable that affect the most of corrosion rate of mild steel, to determine the best concentration of extracts to control the corrosion rate of mild steel. The extraction methods is Soxhletation with solvent rasio 1 : 4 of ethanol : aquadest. Weight loss method is used to determine the rate of corrosion with 0,5;1;1,5 g/l variance of inhibitor concentrations and 3, 6, 9, 12 days contact times. The lowest corrosion rate is 150,22 mpy at 1,5 g/l of coffee extract inhibitor solution with 9 days contact times and the highest efficiency is 51,44% at 1,5 g/l of coffee extract inhibitor solution with 12 days of contact times.Keywords: coffee extract, green inhibitor, soxhletation,
