Abstract

The new building of Engineering Faculty at Riau University is one of the development planning that was by Riau University. It needs external lightning protection system to protect the building from direct lightning strike. For the protection, it has been designed an external protection system using the method of collecting volume. From the result of the calculation of external protection system with the angle of 0° and the peak current of lighting 60 kA, it was found out that the distance of the strike was rs123,58 m , the value of radius lighting protection was Δmax was 72,6 m, the value of collecting volume was Vcoll 1059990,46 m3 , and the value of lighting protection zones was 0s 76,82° .Keywords : lightning protection system,collection volume method

Abstract

Currently, technological advances are in line with advances in science, so there are many variations that are created for the benefit of human life. Therefore, many problems can be solved by utilizing modern technology, one of which is in agriculture. Watering plants is still mostly done manually and people have difficulty maintaining these plants. Due to the busyness of people's work, it’s difficult to divide the time which makes the plants uncontrollable, so that the plants aren’t well maintained. Utilization of IoT makes daily work easier, especially technology that is practical and efficient. IoT makes devices able to communicate such as sending and receiving data. For this reason, the design and manufacture of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based automatic plant watering control device is carried out. This study designed an automatic watering device consisting of ESP8266, soil moisture sensor and DHT11, where the working system of this tool includes automatic watering of plants based on the water content in the soil, and notifications will be sent to the telegram application. The design of this system will be divided into into three stages, namely, hardware design, software, and use case diagrams. Based on the design results, this automatic plant watering device works successfully by detecting room temperature and reading soil moisture levels. With this tool, it’s hoped that plant owners will get data and values for controlling soil temperature and humidity in accordance with leek plants and become an alternative solution for plant owners in maintaining their plants. The system designed has been able to monitor plant watering, as well as send notifications to users in the form of information about the state of room temperature and soil moisture in plants through the telegram application.Keywords : Internet of Things, Soil Moisture Sensor, DHT11. Abstract

Normally to check Hatching Machines are carried out by checking temperature stability in Hatching Machine’s rooms, one by one. This way can cause temperature instability to become a problem in incubation process of eggs. As a sequence, those eggs fail to hatch. Solution to this problem is a controlling and monitoring system of Hatching Machine by using Xbee Tansmitter and Xbee Receiver. Xbee Transmitter is connected to the Arduino Uno ATMega328 located in the Hatching Machine. DHT22 Sensor detects temperature Hatching Machine. Xbee Receiver connected to other Arduino Uno ATMega328 on the user’s place. The testing of temperature monitoring is performed for two hours by eading and sending temperatures every 10 minutes. Two LEDs, such as Red LED and Green LED, are used as indicator. If temperature in Hatching Machine is less than 37,8°C, so Red LED is On and Green LED is off when desired temperature can not be reached. If temperature is between 37,8°C upto 38,7°C, Green LED is On and Red LED is Off to indicate the needed temperature can be achieved. If temperature is over 38,7°C, so Red LED will be On and Green LED will be Off to indicate that the temperature is too high. Water is a very vital need for living things. Clean water must meet physical and chemical quality requirements. The problem that is often encountered is the quality of ground water used does not meet the requirements as clean water. Deep and shallow groundwater contains a lot of high iron (Fe). Abstract

Tidal flat forms as the results of sedimentation processes which are mainly influenced by the coastal hydrodynamic. Tidal flat formation on the coastal peat is a unique phenomenon that has  bee occurring at western part of Bengkalis Island, Riau Province, Indonesia. This study aimed to shed light some of aspect of its development. The method used in this research was laboratory test which simulate the tidal flat formation with five different wave variations. Simulations were carried out using coastal peat soil and seawater, collected from Meskom Village, Bengkalis Island, Riau Province, Indonesia. The equipment used in this simulation is a flume with a size of 500 cm x 25 cm x 7.6 cm, a wave generator, and a velocimeter. The results showed that tidal flat only formed as the result of small wave height i.e. 0.01 meters - 0.02 meters and a period between 1.43 seconds - 0.65 second, wave length of 0.149-1.25m and low current speed of 0.094-0.138m/s. Abstract

X Communal Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Pekanbaru City is one of the solutions in processing domestic waste water so that it is safe before being discharged into waters. However, the WWTP effluent test results showed the value of COD, TSS, and Ammonia that exceed the quality standard. So there is a need for WET (Whole Effluent Toxicity) testing which is one way to monitor the performance of Wastewater Treatment Plant. This research aims to determine the value of LC50, TUa and analyze the connection between the quality of waste water and the level of toxicity in waste water. Acute toxicity tests were performed by static methods within 96 hours using Daphnia Magna test animals. Mortality of Daphnia magna were analyzed using Probit Method. The value of LC50 is 5,719% and TUa value is 17,486 with category III that means wastewater is on High Acute Toxicity. Measured COD, TSS, Ammonia, and Oil & Fat parameters affect the mortality of test animals, where the value of each of these parameters is directly proportional to the death rate of Daphnia magna. Abstract

Metal Cr (VI) is a heavy metal contained in electroplating wastewater which is very stable and dangerous for the environment and human health. This study aims to determine the ability of SMS C. comatus in removing metal Cr (VI) in electroplating wasteswater with mass 3 grams, biosorption contact time 30 minutes with activation treatment using NaOH (0,3N) and activation time 15,30 and 45 minutes. The allowance made by SMS C. comatus in reducing Cr (VI) in electroplating wastewater with initial concentration of Cr (VI) 47.23 mg/L with the highest efficiency value of 39.02 % in activation time 45 minutes. Abstract

Covid-19 is a global pandemic that has affected many jobs. Meetings that used to be held face-to-face are now being held online. The Riau Provincial Library and Archives Service (DIPERSIP) also implements online meetings, but this application is not supported by an adequate network configuration. This is evidenced by the results of the Quality of Services (QoS) measurement which get a poor score based on the TIPHON standard. To overcome this, a queue tree is applied to the DIPERSIP router to manage bandwidth usage. Configuration begins with creating static and dynamic address lists for conference meetings. Then create a mangle to mark connections and packets that are useful for the queue tree, and end with the creation of a queue tree to limit every activity related to upload-download. This configuration has proven to be effective in overcoming existing problems, as evidenced by the QoS re-measurement results that get very good scores.Keywords: Address List, Bandwidth, Mangle, Quality of Services (QOS) Queue Tree.

Abstract

The growth amount of Kampar Regency resident is 14.57%, is growth has increased the need of electrical energy. Therefore to make the electrical consumption supply at Kampar Regency sustainable, it needs electrical energy consumption forecast. This paper purposes electrical demand forecasting for 2016-2025 to predict the level of consumption (demand) of electricity per sector tariffs for PT. PLN (Persero) Rayon Bangkinang regency. Data required for this research was included PLN data on the number of customers and energy consumption in each tariff level sub period 2014-2016 and data of alternative energy potential (Biogas) in kampar regency is utilized as a source of electrical energy. The mechanism of forecasting is composed by following processes, firstly demand is calculated based on the amount of electrical energy consumption activity and the amount of electrical energy consumption per activity (energy intensity). Next, once those data is obtained and it is calculated and analyzed by LEAP (Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning System). In the end the result will compared to data from PT. PLN. In 2016, base PLN data was 17.868 MWh. In other hand, the data from LEAP software was 17.868 MWh. The difference is only on energy consumption of one sector while in household sector from PT. PLN was 12.844 MWh, but data obtained from LEAP software was about 12.845 MWh. The results obtained from the electrical energy demand forecast is totally in the year 2016-2025 shows a positive trend that is increasing from 17.868 to 43.514 MWh. The average growth per year is 10,39%. With so large number growth in demand for electrical energy in the region of PT. PLN (Persero) Rayon Bangkinang, it is needed a new plant that will be able to fill the needs of electrical energy in the future. In kampar regency by 2015 there are 30.473 cows that can be used for biogas energy sources, the potential of electrical energy that can be utilized from cows dung processing into biogas energy is 21,273 MW.Keywords: LEAP (Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning System), energy consumption prediction, electrical energy demand forecast.

Abstract

Lakuang Burai Small dam is a permanent reservoir built in 2019 which is located in Kenagarian Taeh Bukit, Payakumbuh District, Limapuluh Kota Regency. In the dry season there is a lack of water reserves in Kenagarian Taeh Bukit. Seeing this problem, the central government built a reservoir that is expected to be able to accommodate water reserves during the rainy season and can be used during the dry season.The initial steps undertaken in this analysis are hydrological analysis, determination of rainfall, analysis of rainfall in Log Person Type III method, calculation of design flood for 50-year return period using rational methods, hydraulic analysis, stability analysis embung for rolling force, shear force, eccentricity, and bearing capacity of the soil. The results of the analysis are design flood Q50 = 13.715 m3 / sec, ogee crest type with R = 0.27 m and height 5 m, effective weir width 6.42 m, stilling basin USBR Type III. Calculation of weir stability analysis at normal water level conditions: stability of overturning (Sf = 2.618 ≥ 1.5), stability of shear (Sf = 5.321 ≥ 1.5), eccentricity (e = 0.234 ≤ 1.10), bearing capacity of the soil (σ1 = 27.079 ≤ 40 and σ2 = 17.574 ≤ 40). Stability values in flood water conditions: stability of overturning (Sf = 4.532 ≥ 1.5), stability of shear (Sf = 12.720 ≥ 1.5), eccentricity (e = -0.695 ≤1.10), bearing capacity of the soil (σ1 = 8.029 ≤ 40 and σ2 = 35.632 ≤ 40).
