Abstract

Land use change in the Petapahan Watershed will increase the flow of the surface. The surface flow will increase the amount of soil erosion and sediment transport capacity. Sediment transport will enter the Petapahan Reservoir, so that will lead to silting on thePetapahan Reservoir. It will have an impact on the function and effective life of the reservoir. The USLE method was used to estimate erosion in the Petapahan watershed. GIS was used to predict the value of USLE parameters. The result of analysis shows thatErosion occurring in Petapahan Watershed is in low grade (15 - 60 ton/ha/year) and the potential of erosion that goes to Petapahan Reservoir is 294,8287 ton/year.Keywords: land use, erosion potential, USLE, GIS

Abstract

Households are one sector of the country with 23% energy consumption of total energy in all sectors. In the household there are many electronic devices that consume electricity. This resulted in energy consumption among households to be very wasteful. For that action is required to minimize the consumption of household electrical energy. There are several ways that can be done to overcome this problem, one of which is to conduct a conservation energy audit. This audit is done using LEAP software. The conservation energy audit process is divided into 3 sections, i.e. energy surveys, initial energy audits, and detailed energy audits. The result of conservation energy audits undertaken include loads of 450, 900, 1300 and 2200 KWh. Finally the conclusion of the overall conservation energy audit is shown as follow, there was a 23% decrease in electricity consumption at 450 kWh load, 25% at 900 KWh load, 17% at 1300 KWh load and 20% at 2200 KWh load. from the test result that has been done, the reduction of annual cost is Rp 63,504 at the load of 450 KWh, Rp 110,538 at the load of 900 KWh, Rp 302.259 at 1300 KWh load and Rp 328,773 at the load of 2200 KWh. Abstract

CNC is a machining process using a computer program, which one of its function that can arrange toolpath used in NC Code. This study aim is to obtain an optimal toolpath on CNC lathe machining process for making a dead centre. The design of toolpath and simulation to know the time of the process of making dead centre use a software mastercam v9. This research method is done on the rough process of making the geometry shape of the workpiece using 3 schemes of the toolpath. longitudinal, surface to parallel and diametrical . The toolpath consists of two absolute and incremental reference methods. This research revealed the processing time of the scheme for the longitudinal absolute of 22 minutes 43 seconds, the surface to parallel scheme of 22 minutes 45 seconds and the diametrical scheme of 33 minutes 41 seconds. In the incremental scheme the timing process of the longitudinal scheme was 21 minutes 36 seconds, the surface to parallel scheme of 22 minutes 4 seconds and the diametrical scheme of 31 minutes 45 seconds. The fastest time in 3 schemes to making the dead centre was the longitudinal sceme, which used incremental method. the most economical cost for making the dead center using longitudinal incremental . Abstract

Electronic devices efficiency is highly considered nowadays. One of the reasons caused low efficiency is power dissipation. Conventional Boost Converter has low efficiency, but there are some potentional area need to be improved. Synchronous Boost Converter is the improved method of Boost Converter to improve the Conventional Boost Converter efficiency. Design and simulation is supplied by 12VDC. 21W LED light as output consist of 21 strands of 1W LED. 21W LED light is supplied by 21VDC. Synchronous Boost Converter works in Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM) to generate 12VDC input to 21VDC output. Synchronous Boost Converter simulation shows 21W LED light power produces 82,22% efficiency which better 2,4207% than Conventional Boost Converter. Synchronous Boost Converter with lower frequency gives better efficiency, previous research with 30MHz produces 70-80% efficiency.Keywords: Synchronous Boost Converter, MOSFET, efficiency

Abstract

Project PLTU RIAU 2x110 MW is located in Tenayan Raya regency, Pekanbaru, Riau province. The project proposed to support energy demand especially for Riau Province in line to support a national program in order to increase national electricity ratio. This projectneeds high funding to construct therefore, it is necessary for the Government to study and analyze some aspects including financial. 30 % of the project funds came from PT PLN (Persero) equity equal to Rp995.646.470.749,47 while the other 70% which isRp2.323.175.098.415,43 came from loan. Feasibility analysis represents that Net Present Value (NPV) is Rp515.754.288.356,69, Benefit Cost Ratio is 1,05, Internal Rate of Return is12.62%, whereas Payback period is 16 years and 3 months, it represents that this project is feasible. The sensitivity analysis showed that the investment will be sensitive at 177,26%, thebenefit will be sensitive at 93%, the cost at 109% from the original value, and interest will be sensitive at 12,62%. As per deterministic sensitivity analyses from the several variables indicated that the highest to lowest influences in sequence is (1) tariff, (2) r class tariff, (3) operational and maintenance cost, (4) exchange rate, and as per the regression value also indicated that (1) tariff, (2) r class tariff, (3) operational and maintenance cost, (4) exchange rate, has the effect from the highest to lowest variable.Keywords: Finansial Analisys, Net Present Value, Benefit Cost Ratio, Internal Rate of Return, Payback period, Sentivity Analysis.

Abstract

Road is a land transportation infrastructure that is very important because if the road a good area, facilitate the economic activities of the community, facilitate the mobility of the population, increase productivity in work and increase other social activities. Damage to the road will disturb the comfort in driving, such as Ratu Sima street which has many flexible pavement. Ratu Sima Street is one of the roads in Dumai City. The purpose of this study is to assess and classify the types and extent of pavement damage, and to determine the value of pavement conditions by finding the value of Pavement Condition Index (PCI) and Bina Marga. The assessment of pavement condition is needed to establish the appropriate maintenance program. The methods that usually used to evaluate pavement condition are the method of Bina Marga and PCI (Pavement Condition Index) method. This study aims to assess the pavement condition of Ratu Sima street with these two methods being compared. This study used field research in which the primary data was the result of pavement condition survey. The priority of pavement maintenance of Bina Marga method rated from 0 to more than 7, while the PCI rated from 0 to 100. Result of evaluation of condition of Ratu Sima street with Bina Marga method and the PCI method turns out to result in different assessments, the Bina Marga method obtains periodic maintenance results and the PCI method gets failed results. Abstract

One of abnormal conditions that may happen when operating synchronous generator is overheating at armature winding. Therefore, this condition is needed to overcome to avoid further damage in the generator by designing and implementing smart relay based overheating protection. Temperature at armature winding is as an input of the smart relay where it was measured by using LM35DZ sensor. Magnetic contactor was used as switch, where it will open when the temperature higher then setting value. The overheat protection design was implemented successfully where it can trip (disconnect generator from the system by opening magnetic contactor) when the armature winding temperature is higher than 60° C.Keyword: Synchronous generator, armature winding, Smart Relay, Temperature Sensor, Zelio Soft 2

Abstract

Canal blocking is closure or insulation of trenches, rivers, or canals permanent or non-permanent that serve to keep the water system and elevation water level stable. With the canal blocking it will affect the flow profile in the channel. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of debit coefficient on canal blocking and the influence of bolt and shear force on the stability of canal blocking so as to produce optimal design. The study was conducted in the laboratory by testing the physical model of the blocking canal door. Canal blocking model is made in such a way resembles canal blocking in the field with a scale of 1: 7. Test method is done by variation of the discharge, permeable or unpermeable flow properties, tube arrangement, material weight, and canal blocking of one unit or not a single unit. The results showed that blocking canals have good stability, high efficiency, and economical influenced by several factors, there are type of material, the arrangement and the weight of the material content, the strength of the coefficient of friction (locking / recognition of canal blocking), and the design of permeable or unpermeable.Keywords: canal blocking model, permeable, unpermeable

Abstract

Drought is the decrease in the amount of rainfall from its normal condition and depends on how long it lasts. This study aims to determine the characteristics of drought that occurs in the longest duration of drought and the largest number of drought in the location of rain stations spread in Palambayan basin. Then can be used as early warning of drought disaster and help for the interest of planning design at Palambayan watershed. The method used to analyze drought is Run Theory method. The location of the study was in the Palambayan Basin of West Sumatra Province. The data used are monthly rainfall for 10 years (2007-2016) from 2 rain stations located in the Palambayan River Basin and 1 Rain Station located outside the Palambayan River Basin. The results showed that the largest cumulative drought occurred in 2008 of 283.49 mm at Muaro Tantang rain station. For the longest duration of drought is 9 months in 2009. Based on the result of drought distribution map using Geographic Informaton System (GIS), the worst drought station is Gumarang Station.Keywords: Drought Analysis, Run Theory, Drought Index

Abstract

One material that has potential as raw material for bioethanol is the pineapple peel. Pineapple peel is one of the biggest agricultural waste in Indonesia, especially in Riau derived from pineapples. Pineapple peel can be used as raw material for bioethanol production due to contains of fiber, carbohydrates and glucose. This study was conducted to produce ethanol by fermentation of pineapple peel slurry with treatment concentration inoculum at 10%, 12%, 14% and 16% with the addition nutrition of urea 0,6 g/l , ammonium sulphate 1,3 g/l and fermentation time of 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 hours. The fermentation was conducted in batch process. The result showed that inoculum volume and substrate fermentation also ethanol increased since the population of cells improved.The highest yield of bioethanol is 9% (v/v) at inoculum concentred 14% with addition nutrition of urea and the fermentation time 8 hours.keywords : volatile acid, urea, amonium sulfate, fermentation.
