Abstract

DFMA is defined as the design of a product or component which can facilitate the process of manufacturing and assembly process with other components to become a unified product. The utilization of palm oil is only limited to the fruit to produce oil, and to a certain extent the utilization of fiber fruit bunches and fronds to producefiber. Utilization in the form of particle board using oil palm trunk. From basic research on the utilization of oil palm trunk, then it needs tools to process oil palm trunk into raw material that will be processed to be particle board, paper materials and cattle food. There are several steps to design a shredder machinei.e DFMA methods for determining the shredder machine design with easy assembly and manufacture, calculations to determine the motor power is using, and the simulation of structural strength testing using Autodesk Inventor to get the value of the safety factor of the frame and the shaft. The results obtained efficiency values assembly design is 3.14% .Then, the calculation results of the machine element motor power required is 3 Hp at 1400 rpm rotation for oil palm trunk with a surface area of 1 cm x 10 cm. The analysis result of the frame structure and shaft used Autodesk Inventor to obtain the safety factor value of the frame is 6.41 and the shaft is 4.3.Keywords: DFMA, Shredder Machine, Oil Palm Trunk, Safety Factor, Assembly Efficiency.

Abstract

Waste glass and piston can be used as alternative material to non-asbestos motorcycle brake pads based on their properties. Waste glass used as a reinforce, the piston used as a filler, and phenolic resin used as a binder. Those materials were mechanically transformed into powder with 60,100, and 60 mesh respectively. The glass, piston, and phenolic resins powder were varied into five different compositions which are A (10% glass, 50% piston, 40% phenolic resin), B (20% glass, 40% piston, 40% phenolic resin), C (30% glass, 30% piston, 40% phenolic resin), D (40% glass, 20% piston, 40% phenolic resin), E (50% glass, 10% piston, 40% phenolic resin). The powder was mixed at 45 rpm for 30 minutes, then 166 Bar initial pressure was applied in single action for 2 minutes, next it was pressed at 196 Bar in single action hot compacting at 150° for 5 minutes holding time. The green bodies were sintered at 150°C for 4 hours, finally those samples were evaluated by hardness test and wear test. The results show, the composition A has the closest hardness and wear value to commercial products, 40.549 HVN and 8.826x10-12 m3/m accordingly.Keywords: Brake Pads, Waste Glass, Waste Piston

Abstract

Projections are estimates of future state using the existing data at the present time. the higher rates of economic growth in a region, the need for electricity will increase as well, this condition requires the need to do a projected electricity need. This condition needs to be done that requires electrical energy demand projections. Projections done using DKL Model 3.2, this model prepared by combining several methods such as econometrics, trends and analytical sectoral approaches, namely households, businesses, the public and industry. The data used is the historical data of 8 years before the projection that the number of customers, the electrical energy consumption and economic growth. Projections made in the region of PLN Indragiri Hulu district beginning in 2015-2025, results from this study is that the number of subscribers grew by 16.63% per year, the electricity needs of 234,667.517 MWh in 2015 grew into 863,877.211 MWh in 2025, and peak load in 2015 amounted to 30.07 MW grow to be 110.68 MW in 2025. the capacity of power plants in the county capable of Indragiri Hulu 38.35 in 2015 and 48.35 MW in 2016 is only able to serve peak load until the year 2017 reached 47.85 MW. But in 2018 until 2025 the existing generation capacity is no longer sufficient to reach the peak load of 59.44 MW in 2018 and 110.68 MW in 2025.Keywords: Projection, electrical energy requirement, DKL 3.2

Abstract

Using of hybrid plant among battery, photovoltaic (PV) and generator for people in a remote area, can be a solution to overcome shortage of electrical energy caused by the electrical energy company cant not acces it. The aim of this riset is to make a prototype by desaining a switch control battery charger on hybrid plant for suplaying load(s) from households in rural. The Generator and photovoltaic are used to charge battery and supply load(s), while the battery used to supply the load only. There are three electric sources for supplying the load(s), there for, a switch control needed to choose which source will supply the load(s). The main priority of switch control consecutively is battery ,PV,and generator. Controlling it uses a microcontroller ATMega 8535 as relay controller, to connect or disconnect electrical source for suplying battery and load(s), base on voltage examided by a voltage censor. The Minimum limit to supply the load is 10.7 VDC for battery, 18 VDC for photovoltaic. On the other side, generator needs 209 VAC to supply the load. The measuring of voltage censors produce an average error around 0.61%. This prototype works well as it’s framework by controlling the switch control from three different sources to supply the load automatically, based onvoltage used microcontroler.Keywords : Photovoltaic, Battery, Generator, Microkontroler ATMega 8535, Hybrid Plant

Abstract

A permanent magnet generator is designed to accomodate wind speed of 7-12 m/s, which is equal to 500-600 RPM. It is consider as a low speed generator. This generator is dedicated for Wind Power Plant (PLTB) system. Parameters which are influence to the permanent magnet generator performance is described. Finally some strategies to achieve optimized value for those parameters will be elaborated from software magnet design perspective.Keyword : Permanent magnet generator, low speed, PLTB

Abstract

In PT. Chevron Pacific Indonesia (PT. CPI), recloser is an important equipment for electric power systems that supposedly able to work optimally in a variety conditions probably happens on the systems. One of the causes of the losses incurred in PT.CPI is because of the recloser failure. Recloser failure is indeed a normal thing to happen, but the problem is when there is a failure (permanent damage) to the recloser which means that they must do the replacement, there is no backup available. This study aims to determine how often the recloser failure occur. So that, by knowing these things and from calculations carried out, will be obtained spare of recloser that must be available in a certain period. And by knowing the spare of recloser, the loss due to unavailability of backup recloser can be minimized and even eliminated.Keywords: recloser, recloser failure, spare recloser

Abstract

Generally, National Electrical Company (PLN) is main electrical energy supplier in Indonesia. Disturbances in the power system of PLN can occur anytime and make blackout on consumers. To support human activity, electrical energy from main source is expected to be available continuously. So, main power supplier must be equipped with alternative electrical energy providers such as generator. Aim of this research is to produce a prototype ATS category 2E controls switch movement based on microcontroller ATMega16. Based on PUIL 2000, blackouts are allowed on category 2E around <0.5 second. This problem can be solved by using UPS, because it is always standby. Priority orders of power system on this prototype are PLN and Generator. Parameters of PLN are voltage (198Volt-231Volt) and frequency (48Hz-52Hz). Generator parameter is voltage (198Volt-231Volt). When both PLN parameters are reached, the loads are supplied by PLN. When PLN is off or although one or both of PLN parameters achieved, ATS examines generator. If generator voltage is reached, loads are supplied by generator. If generator is off, ATS starts-up generator automatically, and loads supplied by UPS until generator be stable to supply the loads again. This research shows ATS can move switch successfully when parameters of the main source are not achieved. ATS also succeed to start-up generator automatically in 6.07 seconds when PLN suddenly off. The averages of transfer time on category 2E load occur are 2ms (PLN/Generator-UPS) and 7ms (PLN/Generator-UPS). They are smaller than PUIL standardization. Abstract

The uneven indoor temperatures at a high rise building to be one factor uncomfortable to do the activity. It became one of the problems. Uneven temperatures in certain parts, the people in the room did not feel the temperature generated by the air conditioning so it does not feel comfortable. With the development of Wireless Sensor Network can be apply the distribution of the resulting temperature in a room. To get good performance we conducted studies sensor placement and selection protocols. Abstract

Thermoelectric is one of the cooling technology alternatives other than vapor compression systems. Thermoelectric is used as a cooling media in a portable beverage cooler. This study aims to measure temperature of portable beverage cooler using thermoelectric module with cooling load and without cooling load. The temperature observed were hot side temperature (heatsink), cold side temperature (the inner wall), cooling chamber temperature, ambient temperature, outside wall temperature and water temperature. Experiments had been carried out using an adapter and USB as primary power for 30 minutes. The results reveal that the use of an adapter in the voltage of 12 V provides better cooling. This could be seen after 30 minutes the lowest temperature cooling chamber without cooling load is 9,7 °C, with a cooling load beverage cans of 250 ml is 18,7 °C, with acooling load milk box of 250 ml is 18,4 ° C, and with a cooling load isotonic drink of 140 ml is 14,8 °C.Keywords : Thermoelectric, Portable Beverage Cooler, Peltier Effect, Cooling Load

Abstract

Heat pipes are devices that can transfer heat from one point to another point very quickly at a constant temperature difference, with large heat transfer capacity. Heat pipe used in a wide variety of manufactured products, such as laptops, mobile phones, and others. Solid copper and heat pipes are make to have a diameter of 3/8 "and with a length of 40 cm with a filling ratio of 10%. Solid copper and heat pipe was tested in the horizontal position and temperature data obtained in the evaporator section, adiabatic and condenser. Heat transfer rate of heat pipe using wick is 8.82 W, without using wick is 8.36 W and with solid copper is 1.22 W. The thermal conductivity of the heat pipe without wick 5291.18 W / mK and then use wick 6294.69 W / mK, solid copper 75.42 W / mK. Comparison of thermal conductivity between a heat pipe using wick with a copper solid is 83.46 times higher.Keywords : heat pipe, filling ratio, wick
