Abstract

PT. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (PT TMMIN) is one of the major companies in Indonesia engaged in the automotive sector. PT TMMIN acts as a manufacturer and also as an exporter of cars and Toyota components. One component exported by PT TMMIN is a sample part which the component used as a trial for new project in the other Toyota affiliation. Export documents from sample parts called Sample Part Order (SPO). During handling, there are some SPO delayed which will have an impact on the company's Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and the image of PT TMMIN in the global affiliate as an exporter. An analysis to solve problems use Toyota Business Practice (TBP) tools and problem tree diagram. The improvements are summary of SPO, renewal of new phase 1 workflows, and weekly progress. The improvements have a positive effect, which reduce days of delay from 15 days to 0 days in the part confirmation, exporter reply delay decreasing from 71% on November 2018 into 0% delay on May 2019, also reducing delay shipment by 25% from November 2018 to 17% on May 2019. Expectations from the design of new information systems are to re-reduce the number of delays from SPO and facilitate the SPO handling process which benefits to PT TMMIN.

Abstract

This furniture production company has a problem with it’s slow production lead time. The company was given a target by the customer to complete the product within 9 days, but the product was completed in 11,59 days. The method used is value stream mapping, fishbone diagram, improvement using brainstorming method, and control using administrative control. The root cause of the slow production lead time is in the welding process that there’s no Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and in the weaving process due to some workers unskilled in weaving. The proposal from this design is to make welding SOPs and provide training to slow workers so they can work faster.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to design a ship performance dashboard for the e-filing International Safety Management (ISM) Code system at a company in Surabaya. E-filing system is a system for filling and sending reports by ship crew at sea to the office. The purpose of the e-filing system is to simplify monitoring ISM Code implementation from the office.  But in practice, some problems occurred in the system. Office crews need a long time to process the data and there is not enough information to make a decision. However, the problem can be solved by designing a ship performance dashboard. The dashboard objective is to visualize the important data from the ship so that the company can access the needed information. The dashboard design is based on reports that are sent by the ship crew and then processed with software. Processing data with software can make it easier and faster for the company. The processed data will be visualized using a dashboard for different purposes based on the information that’s needed. Overall, dashboard visualization will provide information about ship audit progress, machine damage and repairment that occurred, main engine indicator, and warning system for each main engine and generator component running hours.

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the causes of the differences between planning and actual labor requirements for Bottle and Cap products at PT X. Planning for manpower requirements were calculated through SAP software, while the actual labor requirements were carried out by manual calculation of production process requirements. Analysis of the causes of the problem is carried out using the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) method. The DMAIC method is a method commonly used in Six Sigma to solve problems. After doing the analysis, it is found that the differences that occur are caused by changes in people's needs from the time of planning to the actual production. Changes in people's needs are caused by production problems (reject, downtime, and loss hour), and improper planning. So that the root cause of the difference in planning and actual productivity is; machine failure or worker error, as well as outdated planning data.

Abstract

Vendor evaluation is an important activity to assess vendor performance. PT X is a manufacturing company that manufactures bicycle. Vendor evaluation on export-import department in PT X has been done periodically, every six month. However, the evaluation has been done subjectively because the assessment is qualitative. It is also didn’t give the final conclusion whether the vendor’s performance was good or bad. This is because there are no indicators that indicate whether the vendor’s performance was good or bad. This study applies analytical hierarchy process method in redesigning vendor evaluation to help the company in making multi-criteria decisions. Evaluation items are redefined through the interview and given weights that represent the company’s preferences in evaluating vendors. Evaluation items and weights are arranged into vendor evaluation forms using Microsoft Excel. The results of the study are 3 types of vendor evaluation designs, namely for export vendor EMKL, import vendor shipping agent, and import vendor EMKL.

Abstract

PT Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines (SPIL) is a company engaged in shipping logistics and operates in 42 branches spread throughout Indonesia, With the increase in the size of the company, the number of vehicles used for automatic operations increases, The difficulty of transport maintenance and complicated administrative processes is enough to hinder PT SPIL to operate on field. Therefore, the researcher created a project to standardize the management process with an Excellent Management System (EMS). EMS is a standardized system according to the administrative needs of PT SPIL, EMS has 3 important features, namely transport document extension, transport service, and transport rotation which also applies important industry knowledge such as simple moving average, weighted moving average, exponential smoothing along with the error. This research will result in standardization for PT SPIL vehicle asset management in document extension, vehicle repair, and when you want to rotate the vehicle in the form of existing forms and reminders and there is a calculation to measure the number of kilometers each day on EMS. The results of this EMS will later be used for the YES department at PT. SPIL.

Abstract

Company’s performance can be seen from the ability of it’s employees and departments to work well and achieve the targets set by the company. Performance appraisal as a basis for awarding in this company is currently only based on individual performance appraisal, namely the employee’s ability to complete the assigned task which causes employees to only care about the results of their work and less concerned about the achievement of the department and the company as a whole. The ability to work together and support each other in a department or company is one of the most important key to succeed in achieving existing goals. This research focuses on designing an improved performance appraisal scheme that includes the factor of cooperation between individuals within the department or company so that the assessment given is fair. The proposed improvement in the assessment scheme also describes a mutually supportive working relationship between individuals and departments in achieving company goals based on the company’s vision, mission, and quality objectives.

Abstract

The COVID-19 virus pandemic has spread throughout the world. This makes a lot of impact in all sectors. One of the impacts is in the education sector. Government policies are carried out to break the chain of the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Therefore, the government requires studying at home. The number of tasks that must be completed by students both individually and in groups causes a lot of burnouts. To reduce burnout, resources are needed as a buffer so that the burnout level can be reduced. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of learning demand with personal moderators and organization resources on burnout. This research was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 74 Industrial Engineering students at Petra Christian University. After the data was collected, the researchers analysed descriptively and to determine the effect between variables using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) method. The results of the study stated that learning demand had a significant positive effect on burnout. Personal Resources as a moderator is able to weaken the influence of learning demand on burnout. Organizational resources as moderators are not able to significantly weaken or strengthen the influence of learning demand on burnout.

Abstract

PT. X is a company engaged in cosmetic plastic packaging products such as bottles, jars, powder packaging, lipstick packaging, etc. PT. X wants to increase the number of to be produced per man hour (TBP/MH) which was initially Rp. 170,000.00, to reach the target of Rp. 230,000.00 by increasing production leaders’ performance, namely the shift leaders and supervisors. This is because there are still many inputs about production problems that are not being watched by production leaders, causing production output not reaching TBP/MH target. This study uses the day in the life of (DILO) method to categorize and sort the daily activities of the shift leaders and supervisors. The results obtained are the shift leaders and supervisors are less in control of operators, and the number of non-value-added activities is greater than the value-added activities. This study proposed several daily schedules that have been adapted to the company's job description and increasing the time for value-added activities by eliminating non-value-added activities. This is done because the activities of the shift leaders and supervisors support operators and their production output, which also make return to the company's TBP/MH number. If proposed schedules are implemented, it will increase the value-added activity time by 18.79% to 44.03%.
