Abstract

Physical exercise and group activity are some of the ways that can improve this elderly’s quality of life. However, in Surabaya, the number of facilities that are proper and suitable for the elderly is still lacking. Designing physical exercise facility for the elderly should emphasize safety and comfort. More than that, it is also expected that the facility could contribute positively to their physical and social condition. This project used Bryan Lawson’s method for design thinking. The concept, “Nostlagic Getaway”, is expected be the answer to fulfill the user needs. This concept has few of implementation points like lighting, flooring, wayfinding, style, view, user safety, area of rest, layout, emergency help, and color and materials, are hope to be a solution for many safety and comfortablity problems and user experience in this facilities. Therefore, it is expected that the designed facility could answer the needs of the targeted user and welcomed positively by the society.

Abstract

Traditional foods are less appreciated nowadays by our people, many people are choosing foreign foods rather than traditional foods. Actually, traditional food has a great  potential for culinary business and it must be preserved. One of them is pempek which is a typical food of Palembang, which usually called pempek Palembang. Pempek Farina is a brand of pempek sellers who have many branches but unfortunately does not have the hallmark of interior design. For a place to eat, interior design is very important to attract customer's attention. Interior Planning and Pempek Farina Stand is a changes that we want to give to the Pempek Farina interior design. Therefore, Pempek Farina can has a characteristic that can be remembered and felt by visitors. This planning is based on the customers approach to Pempek Farina brand. Starting from the target of the customer, visitor habits, brand colors, etc. The existence of this interior design makes Pempek Farina has a standard in designing all the branches for uniform and in accordance with the standard owned. Moreover Pempek Farina has expanded into the franchise path.

Abstract

Down Syndrome is a condition of underdevelopment physical and mental condition in children resulting from the failure of a pair of chromosome 21 (trisomy 21) to separate from each other during the division. This condition caused physical and intelligence abnormalities of children with down syndrome, resulting negative discrimination and stigma from people around the community. In fact, children with down syndrome have a wide range of talent and have potential achievements in creativity. Children with down syndrome can be taught and trained with various therapies in order to have a supportive physical condition for self-sufficient living. Through the existing problems, a facility with an interior that have the ability to train for self-sufficient living and creativity development for children with down syndrome is required. The concept of Healing Environment is applied to the design with the implementation on activities (music class, cooking class, snoezelen therapy, etc) and interior design within the important aspects (noise control, privacy, color, texture, etc). Environment that supports healing can provide comfort to children so it will speed up the process of adaptive behavior that is useful for understanding in doing their activities independently (self-sufficient living).

Abstract

Classical music has a lot of benefits that can make more optimal brain development. Surabaya Symphony Orchestra Music School is a place to facilitate society in Surabaya to learn classical music.Many activities that can support learning classical music has not been facilitated due to the limited area, and lack of interior on SSO create interest and learning music became blocked. In accordance with Dolce concept which means “to play sweetly”, the music school design is using bright colors with soft and dynamic formation. Facilities available are practice studio, theory classroom, recording room, orchestra practice room, teacher’s office, staff office, administration office, recital hall, cafeteria, music store and book store.

Abstract

At this time, a lot of socialite from the middle-upper class of society who can buying branded stuffs. Many fashion houses that release furniture collection with their well-known brand and otherwise a lot of furniture designer collaboration with fashion houses. The design of this furniture takes Chanel brand because Chanel is one of brand in this world that has been long enough in the fashion industry and has given a lot of influences in the fashion world. In addition, Chanel has not release furniture collection or work together with furniture designer to design a furniture collection. This design is using design thinking method. The concept that used in this design is majestic geometrical in which majestic is chosen to represent fashion, and geometrical is chosen to give a simple impression. Therefore, with this design it will enlarge opportunities to enhance and expand Chanel's marketplace in business market competition.

Abstract

Nowadays, there are a lot of fitness center that facilitate people’s need for health. The design and areas of fitness centers are very diverse due to people’s various needs. One of the needs in fitness center is generating indoor jogging track area. Users will be educated about the importance of cardiovascular exercise, that would be maximized if they do it without any machines. Moreover, it is also quite beneficial to reduce the boredom during the exercise even increase the social relationship among users of the facilities in it. The mision of this project is that people are being educated by the importance of jogging exercise. Indoor jogging track become the main focus in the design of this facility so it needs to be maximized to attract and improve user’s satisfaction. However, the other supporting facilities also need to be considered. Other designed facilities include reception area, café area, fitness area, yoga area, aerobics area, RPM area, and locker room.

Abstract

Increasingly tight schedule of community activities make urban society requires a have easy access to visit and have a facility sufficient to relax with the family, school friends, lectures and colleagues. Many down-town city big had a meal that provides facilities for a place to gather and relax. Unfortunately places entertainment does not contain elements of education and only limited places of entertainment only. Schedule urban society so dense and full of activities also made their forget their surroundings and seem more individual. Yet as we know, the environment is very important to the survival of humans and ecosystems. Therefore creates a gathering place that is café that also provide educational facilities of green plants to urban communities, especially in the city of Surabaya.

Abstract

Healthy Day Care is a child care center which designed with priority of children's health that applied to all room elements which designed with healthy and attractive design that its application is done by making the formation, color, circulation space, lighting, which draw the attention of the child to can do their activities cheerfully but not excessive. Healthy Day Care is designed to solve the problem of any women who has some problems with her children, seeing the health of children today that are declining due to less activity and less socializing with the surrounding environment. Healthy Day Care must also be able to meet the basic needs of children to achieve the design results in accordance with the original purpose.

Abstract

The development of modern human lifestyle at this time gives rise to a variety of impacts. One of its effects is the increasing individuality which causes lack of direct social interaction. In a smaller scale this thing happens among students of Petra Christian University in Surabaya. A public facility that can accommodate and stimulate social interaction activities on campus is needed, the facilities of public seating. Designed with knock down system, this facility is dynamic in accordance with the activities of social interaction among students on campus. It is expected by designing this public seating facilities on campus social interactions can be increased and can add to the dynamics of student activities on campus.

Abstract

Kenjeran Park is one of the important historical landmark in East Java. However, the facilities has deterioriated over the years causing it to lose its appeal as a tourist destination, which is a shame as it is a place that carries a significant historical values. This design project is done with the aim of creating product ideas which will replace the existing facilities in Kenjeran Park. The main focus of the design will be comfort and durability in order to restore the people perception of the location and preserve its status as a cultural icon. The issue in Kenjeran Park mainly stems from the material used in the interior product design. Most of the products are made from plastic hence, it is unable to withstand the deterioriation caused by nature and also lack the aesthetic appeal as it is mainly geared towards mass production. Problems that exist in Kenjeran Park is because the existing interior products are plastic-based products where the products are made from plastic material can not stand the weather especially if placed in Kenjeran Park which is a beach area where the air is corrosive.Also, this design will also draw inspiration from the lifestyle of the people in that area creating a design which has variety and also aesthetically pleasing. Hence while innovating in terms of material that is being used to tackle the existing problem, it also helps showcase the cultural values of the area by drawing inspiration from them. Therefore, this design project can hopefully assist in government effort in redeveloping the area.
