Abstract

Production machines are the most important part of a production system. Machines need effective and efficient maintenance to be able to guarantee and support the production process to run well. The steel industry is an industry that produces various types and shapes of steel with one of the machines being Computer Numerical Control (CNC) type BT-A16. These machines often have problems such as downtime that interfere with the production experience. The purpose of this research is to find out the problems in the CNC BT-A16 production machine and provide recommendations for improvements to improve machine performance or Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). The approach used is Total Productive Maintenance by calculating the OEE value. Problem analysis was carried out through Focus Group Discussion with expert judgment when determining the Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) analysis. Research findings indicate that the cause of the engine is not optimal comes from abnormal heat in the gearbox and machine spindle components caused by operator error when inputting data. The definite improvement is making a special schedule for maintenance, checking all maintenance schedules, and conducting training to increase knowledge and skills. The results of the corrective action show an increase in the OEE value from 70.8% to 79.9% or an increase of 9.1%, so the increase in the OEE value will increase the efficiency of the BT-A16 CNC lathe.

Abstract

PT. ZYX is a foreign company automotive component sector for four-wheeled vehicles. In their third year of mass production, the production capacity reached 116 million pcs, resulting in the high cost of Dies purchase for Cold Heading machines. This condition worsened because things such as Dies having a low lifetime and the lead time for Dies purchasement is in the range of 20-40 days or more, which has the potential to cause machine downtime. This study aims to redesign the Dies of Cold Heading machine used today. Completion of the design uses the Pareto diagram analysis, FMEA, and DFM. The analysis result using the FMEA method shows the highest RPN value of 336 with the potential for insert carbide failure that cracks during assembly. The recommended corrective action is to make assembly support components, namely pokayoke parts, and make work instructions for replacing carbide inserts on Dies. The analysis results using the DFM method shows a change in term of cost. The cost for 1 unit of Dies purchasement was initially Rp. 10,247,113.00, but it dwindles to Rp. 4,623,914.23. Using the redesign to make case dies, lock nuts, collets, and stoppers components, resulted in cost efficiency of 54.87%.

Abstract

The weaving operator of CV XYZ has an unergonomic work posture with a bent back and unbalanced legs at work. This non-ergonomic condition was identified by using the Nordic Body Map questionnaire to find out complaints on 28 body parts of three operators. From the identification of weaving operators using a nordic body map, it is known that there are complaints on the back, waist, and hips of the body. Identification using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment method shows that the final result of the assessment is 11, which means that there is a need for improvement now on the operator's work posture. The results of the QEC method show an exposure score of 97.12% for operator 3 and the action that must be taken is research and changes now. To reduce the risk of high work posture, a proposal for improving the working posture of the weaving machine set up operator was formulated by designing a manual scissor lift tool. In the process of designing tools, Indonesian anthropometric data is needed. The stages of designing tools are identifying operator needs, conceptualizing tools using a need metric matrix, selecting tools concepts with combination tables and scoring concepts and describing the design of tools using AutoCAD and CATIA software. From the results of the selection of several alternative concepts, a tool in the form of a manual scissor lift was chosen which has a combination of elements, namely a square working platform design, using 2 hydraulics and raw materials made of steel. Meanwhile, the manual scissor lift specification has a maximum height of 85 cm, a footing length of 70 cm and a footing width of 46 cm. It is known that before the proposed improvement, the final result of the REBA score was 11 and after the improvement the final result of the REBA score was 4 which indicates that the operator's work posture has improved after using the assistive device, especially in the arms, legs and back of the operator

Abstract

Goat milk powder is one of the perishable processed products. The decreasing quality of goat milk powder can cause financial losses to the company if not regulated properly. So far, the company is also faced with the problem of consumer demand uncertainty. When demand for powdered goat's milk is high, the company experiences stockout but can be overcome by backorder. When demand is low, there will be overstock. Overstock conditions, in addition to causing high holding costs, are also at risk of product quality degradation or expiration. In this study, an inventory model of goat milk powder was developed that considers the uncertainty of demand, product quality, and backorder to determine the optimal production quantity so that the total inventory cost incurred is minimum. The basic model used is economic production quantity. Uncertainty in demand and the percentage of products declining in quality is approached using a triangular fuzzy. While the defuzzification technique used is signed distance.

Abstract

In penetrating exports, SME players are often faced with obstacles such as their unpreparedness in preparing the documents needed for exports. This problem is a classic problem considering that the ability to prepare export documents is a way to export successfully. Also, SME actors need to implement Good Logistic Practices (GLP) such as product processing activities, packaging, storage and shipping management to become resilient SMEs in line with the increasing understanding of export documents.  The approach used in this study is quantitative research methods with a study survey approach and normative empirical studies. Data analysis uses a correlation approach between variables. This study used data from 210 SMSs in the KUB Cilongok, with a sample of 71 respondents. The results of the study showed that 71.5% of SME players in penetrating the export market were still constrained in understanding export documents. So to achieve export capability, it is necessary to create a comfortable and balanced supply chain

Abstract

Predictive maintenance of industrial machines is one of the challenging applications in Industry 4.0. This paper presents a comprehensive methodology to identify robot arm (SCARA) movement patterns to detect the mechanical aging of the robot, which is determined by the abnormal movement of the robot arm. The dataset used is two robot arm movements that go from point A to B and then back to point A. Accelerometer data is used to measure the signal of SCARA actions, mainly focus on the non-linear movement. The identification of the movement pattern of the robot arm is made by combining k-means and multilayer perceptron. The proposed approach first extracts valuable features as characteristics of the two datasets from the time domain statistical value parameters. K-means clustering technique is initiated to label the training dataset. In this phase, the elbow curve is used to determine the number of clusters in the dataset, which is 2 clusters. Moreover, the assumption is used to determine which cluster is labeled as a normal and abnormal movement.  Hence, a multilayer perceptron approach is proposed to predict the testing dataset. The proposed multilayer perceptron model yields an accuracy of 94.14%, whereas its cross-validation yields an accuracy of 96.12%.
