Abstract

Introduction. This study understands the development of digital libraries in Indonesia in the 2014-2024 period using bibliometrics, along with the rapid internet penetration and the increasing number of digital libraries in Indonesia which have changed the way people access information. Data Collection Methods. This is a quantitative approach with a bibliometric analysis based on the Scopus bibliographic dataset with 162 publications with a keyword filtering process. Data Analysis. This is a bibliometric analysis using Biblioshiny Bibliometrix. Results and Discussion. This study shows that despite fluctuations, digital library research in Indonesia has increased, especially in 2017 and 2021, reflecting growing awareness during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a focus on "digital libraries" and related topics like "systematic literature review", "e-learning" and "library services". These themes are supported by key researchers from Ganesha University of Education, Bina Nusantara University, and the University of Indonesia. Conclusion. Digital library research in Indonesia continues to develop from year to year, still focusing on the topics of digital libraries, e-learning, and library services, with authors collaborating and developing new topics in this area. Suggestions for further research include thematic evolution analysis and references spectroscopy to better illustrate the development of this topic.

Abstract

Introduction. This research examines the electronic theses and dissertation repository policies at four universities in Surabaya, namely UIN Sunan Ampel, Universitas Airlangga, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, and Universitas Kristen Petra. It explores the policy formulation process and evaluates whether the existing policies have considered good repository governance practices, such as data protection, notice and take-down policy, and data reuse. Data Collection Methods. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, using interviews, policy documents, and writing guidelines as primary data sources. Data analysis. Data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model, which consists of data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. Results and Discussion. The policy formulation process follows a top-down approach involving university rectors/vice rectors, library heads, and librarians. The top managements determine the publication model and embargo periods. However, repository policies remain incomplete, with some still verbally communicated rather than properly documented. Conclusion. Repository policies are still heavily influenced by university leaders, so the focus is currently on access restrictions and embargoes to increase the number of publications, rather than improving governance. The role of librarians in raising awareness and advocating for open access is necessary.

Abstract

Introduction. School libraries serve as educational resources; nevertheless, the collection development process is commonly ignored or executed improperly. The objective of the study is to examine the Gempita Pustaka Library’s collection development process and strategic position by implementing Evans & Saponaro collection development method and SWOT analysis. Research method. The study was performed through descriptive qualitative method, incorporating observations and conducting interviews in collecting data. Data analysis. Data analysis was conducted using the collection development process by Evans and Saponaro, while SWOT analysis was applied to identify internal analysis (strengths and vulnerabilities). Subsequently, an external analysis was conducted to investigate opportunities and threats, to identify strategic areas of focus. Results and Discussion. Evans and Saponaro outline six essential phases for collection development. However, the collection development process at the Gempita Pustaka Library demonstrates certain weaknesses, particularly due to the absence of regular evaluations. This issue is of a significant concern. Consequently, strategic planning was utilized to leverage the library's strengths and enhance the processes. Conclusion. The findings indicate that the Gempita Pustaka Library's six-stage collection development approach has effectively been implemented. Therefore, the study serves as a reference for improving school library collection development process in the future.

Abstract

Introduction. This study explores factors influencing the effectiveness of digital archiving systems in Indonesian universities, aiming to improve search time, storage, and organization efficiency. Data Collection Method. Using a mixed sequential explanatory approach, data were collected from 168 university archivists through simple random sampling and 20 key informant interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using one-sample t-tests and PLS-SEM, while qualitative data underwent thematic analysis. Results and Discussion. The results reveal that system design, archivist satisfaction, and self-efficacy significantly impact the effectiveness of digital archiving systems. However, training programs did not show a significant effect. Self-efficacy mediated the relationship between system design and user satisfaction on system effectiveness. Conclusion. The effectiveness of digital archiving in universities is influenced by system design and self-efficacy. Self-efficacy strengthens the impact of system design and user satisfaction, highlighting the importance of both technical and psychological factors in managing digital archives effectively.
