Abstract

To maintain competitiveness and efficiency in the chemical manufacturing industry, particularly in large-scale continuous ammonia production, optimal labor management is essential. This study analyzes labor productivity in the ammonia production process at PT , specifically in the Ammonia 1A production unit, using the partial productivity measurement method. The primary objective is to measure the contribution of labor to production output and identify the factors that cause productivity fluctuations. The method employed compares ammonia output with labor input for the period of January to December 2024. In addition, downtime analysis and a fishbone diagram were utilized to evaluate the root causes of productivity decline. The results indicate significant fluctuations in labor productivity, with the highest value recorded in November (775.8 tons/person) and the lowest in September (412.79 tons/person). The decrease in productivity is attributed to labor shortages, equipment failures, and suboptimal work procedures. The average productivity index during the observation period was 97.17%, reflecting a decline compared to the base month. These findings provide a foundation for strategic recommendations to improve workforce management and enhance operational efficiency

Abstract

The decline in Heavy Oil (HO) production at PT XYZ is strongly influenced by unplanned well down events, which generate significant Loss Production Opportunity (LPO) and disrupt the achievement of production targets. This study aims to develop and compare two time series forecasting methods, ARIMA and Holt‑Winters Exponential Smoothing (HWES), to predict future well down incidents caused by Mechanical Pumping Unit (MPU) failures. Model accuracy was evaluated using the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), and the Seasonal ARIMA (2,2,1) Model was identified as the most accurate, achieving a MAPE value of 4.56 percent, significantly outperforming both HWES variants, which produced much higher errors (highest MAPE 27.37 percent). Using this model, the estimated financial loss in the Base Case scenario is projected at Rp 13.35 billion per year, with the worst sase scenario potentially reaching Rp 41.80 billion. The forecasting results provide substantial managerial value by supporting informed operational decision‑making. Three key strategic implications are obtained. First, financial risk control can be strengthened by using the Upper Bound 95 percent as a basis for justifying MPU upgrade budgets. Second, production target planning becomes more realistic by incorporating predicted LPO values. Third, integrating LPO‑based thresholds into KPI monitoring establishes an early warning system that shifts operational control from reactive to anticipatory.

Abstract

Water is a fundamental necessity for human life, and access to clean water is essential. Drinking water must meet health standards to be safe for consumption, while clean water is used for daily needs and can be consumed if boiled. However, consumer complaints regarding water quality remain a concern. Data collected over a three-month period indicated that the average turbidity level of clean water was 2.4 NTU. This study aims to control water quality using the Taguchi method. The key objective is to evaluate whether the water quality complies with established standards and regulatory requirements. Water quality that meets these standards is expected to enhance customer satisfaction. By applying the Taguchi experimental design, the results demonstrated a turbidity level of 1.4 NTU and a pH level of 7.3, both of which comply with the Ministry of Health Regulation No. 2 of 2023. The findings suggest that implementing quality control through the Taguchi method can effectively monitor and regulate water quality, thereby improving water services provided to the community.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of a Sodium Metabisulfite (SMBS) packaging machine at PT. DKJ using Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). OEE was employed to assess machine performance through availability, performance, and quality indicators, while the Six Big Losses framework was used to identify major sources of productivity loss. Furthermore, FTA was applied to determine the root causes of dominant losses affecting machine effectiveness. The study utilized production data, direct observations, interviews, and company records collected from December 2024 to May 2025. The results indicate that the average OEE value of the packaging machine was 63.26%, significantly below the international benchmark of 85%, with low availability and performance as the primary contributors. Six Big Losses analysis revealed that breakdown losses and setup and adjustment losses were the most dominant factors. FTA identified component failure, inadequate preventive maintenance, operator-related errors, and complex setup procedures as the main root causes. This study proposes structured preventive maintenance, operator training, standardized operating procedures, and improved production–material coordination to enhance machine effectiveness and ensure sustainable production performance.

Abstract

Agriculture is one of the key aspects of a nation’s survival. In support of the Astacita Program of the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, which aims for food self-sufficiency, this research focuses on the topic of food security. In practice, food security faces several challenges, such as production that does not meet quality standards and very low productivity levels. One example is the cultivation of Kalimantan honey bees. Honey is one of Kalimantan’s natural resources that is highly beneficial for enhancing the human immune system. According to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 8664:2018, the acceptable water content in honey should be less than 22%. However, in reality, the water content in honey often exceeds 22%, reaching up to 27%. The purpose of this research is to reduce the water content in honey so that its shelf life can be extended to six months, making it suitable for export. This study employs an Internet of Things (IoT) approach, involving the stages of planning, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and evaluation. The research produced a device capable of reducing the water content of  Trigona honey (27%) to meet SNI standards within 5 hours, Cerana honey (43%) within 7 hours, and Dorsata honey (30%) within 9 hours. The use of this device proved effective in lowering honey’s water content to below 22%, in compliance with SNI standards, which means the honey becomes more durable, marketable, and exportable. This research is expected to contribute to strengthening food security in the city of Balikpapan.

Abstract

Accurate forecasting of financial time series remains a complex challenge due to asset price behaviour's non-stationary, nonlinear, and cyclical nature. While Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks have shown promise in modeling sequential dependencies, they often struggle to capture periodic structures inherent in financial data. This study proposes a hybrid forecasting framework that integrates temporal pattern recognition techniques—specifically seasonal decomposition, wavelet transforms, and moving averages—into a recurrent neural architecture to improve predictive performance in cyclical markets. Using historical data from five representative financial instruments, the hybrid model enriches the LSTM input space with statistically significant temporal features, thereby enabling more comprehensive learning of both long-term dependencies and structural temporal patterns. Empirical results demonstrate that the proposed model significantly outperforms traditional LSTM baselines in terms of Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE), particularly in assets exhibiting strong cyclical behavior. The residual component from seasonal decomposition emerges as the most influential feature, reinforcing the importance of capturing irregular deviations in financial forecasting. This research contributes a structured and generalizable approach to combining temporal pattern recognition with deep learning, offering improved accuracy and interpretability for practitioners and researchers in computational finance
