Abstract

This is quasi-experimental research that aims for knowing the effectiveness of the implementation of guided discovery method towards of  student’s mathematical conceptual  understanding. The research design is posttets only control group design. The research population was all student of 8th grade class of SMPN 1 Katibung academic year 2012/2013 and the sample of this research are class VIII B and VIII D with choosen by purposive sampling. Based on the data analysis, it is found that student’s mathematical conceptual understanding  average and student’s learning completeness in guided discovery learning method is higher than conventional learning. The conclusion is guided discovery learning method  is more effective than conventional learning towards of student’s mathematical conceptual understanding.Key words: effectivity, guided discovery, mathematical concept understanding.

Abstract

The process of teaching in the classroom by teacher assigned greatly influenced the success of students in learning, the less of learning activity and students’ mathematics  conceptual understanding are indicated that the teaching is not optimal. The objective of  this classroom action research is to improve activity and understanding of mathematic concepts towards students’ at the first semester of the seventh class at SMP N 1 Pardasuka  in 2012/2013. The data of student’s activity obtained through observation process and mathematic conceptual understanding through finally cycle test. From the research found that in the end  cycle III, the students’ learning activity reach 76% and student’s mathematics concept understanding reach 72%, it means that more than an indicator that have set which 65%. So that, the cooperative learning model type NHT can improve activity and mathematics conceptual understanding towards student’s ability at the first semester of the seventh class at SMP N 1 Pardasuka in 2012/2013.Key Word : cooperative learning model type NHT, understanding mathematics   concepts

Abstract

Two stay two stray is one type of cooperative learning that students seek and discover concepts independently by explaining the concept to the guests from the other group and are looking for information the results of discussion to another group.  This quasi-experimental study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of cooperative learning model type two stay two stray in terms of students' understanding of mathematical concepts. The population of this study were all students of class X SMA Negeri 1 Ketapang school year 2012/2013.  The research sample is student of class X.1 as experiment class and X.3 grade students as the control classes by cluster random sampling technique.  Based on these results, it was concluded that the use of two types of cooperative learning model stay two stray effective in terms of understanding mathematical concepts class X SMA Negeri 1 Ketapang school year 2012/2013.Keywords: effectiveness, two stay two stray, mathematical concepts

Abstract

Applied learning by teachers greatly affect the success of students in learning.  The low learning and activity  outcomes are not indication yet optimal learning. This research is   the PTK aimed to improve learning and activity  outcomes math class VIII / 4 SMP Kosgoro 1 Bandar Sri Bhawono East Lampung semester Academic Year 2012/2013, through Mathematic Realistic Approach. Action is  conducted in three cycles, each cycle including: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data were collected through observation of student activity at each meeting and learning outcomes gained through the end of each test cycle. Based on data analysis results of this research note that an increase in the percentage of students active and learning outcomes in each cycle. Percentage of students active continuted in Cycle I, II, III was 51.35%, 69.44% and 81.08%. Percentage of students who pass the learning continuted cycle I, II, III was 51.35%, 66.66% and 78.37%. From these results it can be concluded that the application of PMR in learning can increase student, activity and the result of mathematic learning class VII1 / 4 SMP Kosgoro 1 Bandar Sri Bhawono Odd Semester Academic Year 2012/2013.Keywords: Mathematics Realistic Approach, Activities, Learning Outcomes

Abstract

The Aptitude Treatment Interaction (ATI) is a model that has a number of learning strategies developing effective learning condition for students according to their individual ability. This research is quasi experiment that aims to determine the effectiveness of ATI learning model considered of student’s mathematical conceptual understanding. Design used in this study was a pretest postest control design. The population of this research is students of SMP 29 Bandar Lampung at seventh grade in second semester of 2012/2013 academic years that having low mathematical conceptual understanding which consists of nine groups, while the sample of the research is taken by using Purposive Random Sampling technique. Based on the result of hipotesis test, the increasing average of student’s mathematical conceptual understanding by using ATI learning model is more than that of using conventional learning in the significant level 5%. So, it was concluded that the ATI learning model is effective considered of  mathematical conceptual understanding of student.Keywords: Aptitude Treatment Interaction (ATI) learning model and mathematical conceptual understanding.

Abstract

The students’ understanding of Mathematic concept in class VII.2 in the first semester of SMPN 1 Gadingrejo in the year 2012/2013  was relatively low.The students activities in the teaching learning process were also less active. The teaching modesl wich were used were conventional learning models so, the learning process were seemed monotonous. This research is a classroom action research which was conducted to increase the students’ learning activities and in understanding Mathematic concept through TGT Typed Cooperative Learning Model in the first semester of Class VII.2 of SMPN 1 Gadingrejo 2012/2013. The results of the research showed that there is a positive improvement of the students’ learning activities and understanding Mathematic concepts trough the implementation of  TGT Typed Cooperative Learning Model in the first semester of Class VII.2 of SMPN 1 Gadingrejo 2012/2013.  From data analytic could be gotten that the average percentage of students’ learning activities increased significantly 87,5%, the progress of students in understanding Mathematic concept increased into 69,351 %, and 68,75 % for students Mastery Learning. It could be concluded that the implementation of TGT Typed Cooperative Learning Model in the first semester of Class VII.2 of SMP N.1 Gadingrejo 2012-2013  was able to increase students’ learning activities and in understanding Mathematic concept. This is quasi experimental research that aims for knowing the effectiveness of Learning Cycle 3E model and conventional learning for increasing students mathematical conceptual understanding.  This research design is pre-test post-test control group design.  The research population is all students of 7th grade class even semester of SMP Negeri 8 Bandar Lampung academic years 2012/2013 with homogenous student abilities. The research sample is 7th A and 7th D which  choosen randomly from seven classes.  Based on hypothesis analysis, it is found that students mathematical conceptual understanding average, and student from Learning Cycle 3E model is higher than conventional learning.  The conclusion is Learning Cycle 3E model is more effective than conventional learning for increasing students mathematical concept understanding.  Keywords: Effectiveness, Learning Cycle 3E, Mathematical Concept Understanding

Abstract

This is a quasi experimental research that aim to investigate the influence of problem based learning model for students mathematical conceptual understanding in 8th grade students SMPN 2 Way Seputih academic years 2012/2013.  The population of this research is all students 8th grade of SMPN 2 Way Seputih academic years 2012/2013 which are distributed in five class, whereas, the sample of this research  is two class which is taken by using purposive random sampling technique.  Based on hypothesis analysis, it is found a conclusion that problem based learning model has an influence for students mathematical conceptual understanding in 8th grade.Keywords: Problem Based Learning Model, Mathematic Concept Understanding

Abstract

This quasi experimental research aims to investigate the difference of gain students mathematical conceptual understanding between students in contextual learning with VAK and expository learning.  The design of this research is pre-test post-test control group design.  The population of this research are all students of 8th grade of Junior High State School 1 Sekampung Udik academic years 2012/2013 with homogenous student abilities. The sample of this research are 8th A class and 8th C class which  choosed randomly from five classes.  Based on hypothesis analysis, it is conclude that there are no difference gain of student’s mathematical conceptual understanding between a class in contextual learning with VAK and expository learning.  Keywords: VAK, Mathematical Conceptual Understanding

Abstract

This research aims to find influence of the implementation SQ4R learning strategy towards students’s understanding of mathematical concept.  It was quasi experiment and the design of the research was posstest only control group design.  The population in this research  were the first year students of SMA Al-Kautsar Bandar Lampung in the academic year 2012/2013 who generally had the same cognitive ability.  The sample are class X.4 and X.6 which were choosen by   purposive random sampling technique.  Based on hypothesis test by using a nonparametric  statistical test at level of significant 5% , student’s mathematical conceptual understanding at class using SQ4R learning strategy is not different with that of using conventional learning, it showed that SQ4R learning strategy has not influence towards understanding about mathematical concept of first year students of SMA Al-Kautsar Bandar Lampung  at even semester in the academic year  2012/2013.Keywords: Influence, SQ4R learning strategy, Understanding of mathematical concept.
