Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of social media in learning. We know that today, social media has an indispensable role in the learning process. In addition, social media has made it a smaller world through social media so that people from anywhere in the world can interact without being limited by distance and time. This study used a mixed-method consisting of qualitative and quantitative data. This research involved 308 students in Lampung province. The results of the research conducted stated that 65% of students used smartphones in learning. 73.2% of students stated that the application that is often opened is social media. 87.2% stated that the most frequently accessed social media is chatting media. 48.2% of students prefer playing on social media for learning physics. 72.3% of students stated that they prefer to discuss through chatting media. Based on the results of the preliminary study, the role of social media is very active, 48% of students stated that they use social media for learning discussions. . 43% of teachers stated that they always use social media to support learning. Keywords: social media, physics learning, smartphoneDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpf.v8.n2.202004

Abstract

This study explores Android-based mobile learning media design on electrical content. The Media is designed to contain electrical content that is abstract and can not be seen with the naked eye. The content is depicted in a tangible and easily understood by students. The methods used in the development of the research media are Research and Development (R&D), and the development model conducted in this study is the IDI (Instructional Development Institute) Model of research results shows that the media Learning on electrical content is considered valid and the media is easy to use for students and teachers in the learning process. Keywords: learning Media, Mobile Learning, Android, electricityDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpf.v8.n2.202003

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the effect of the Phyphox application on GIL based physics learning on students' creative thinking abilities. The sample of this research is students of class X IPA 3 SMA Negeri 1 Sukoharjo through purposive sampling technique. This study uses the One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The treatment was carried out through GIL based practicum activities on a simple pendulum assisted by Phyphox application. Data on students' creative thinking abilities were obtained using tests in the form of description questions. Data analysis technique using Paired Sample T-test. Based on data analysis, the average score of creative thinking ability has increased by 44%. Learning on simple pendulum materials assisted by Phyphox applications in five groups has an average acceleration due to gravity of 9,87  with an accuracy rate of 98,6%. The result is that GIL based physics learning assisted with the Phyphox application affects students' creative thinking abilities and produces accurate investigative data. Keywords: Creative Thinking Abilities, GIL, Online, Phyphox applications, SmartphoneDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpf.v8.n2.202002

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the POE2WE model in learning, determine the effectiveness of using video in learning, determine the effectiveness of the video-based POE2WE model in learning, and determine the level of understanding of the research object. The research method used is a quantitative method in the form of a survey. The quantitative method is a scientific research method whose data is in the form of numbers or statistics. Meanwhile, the survey is a technique of collecting data about a population using a sample. The objects in the study were 57 students of the Siliwangi University Physics Education class of 2018. The results of the study showed that the video-based learning model on magnetic induction material was effective in the pandemic. Keywords: POE2WE model, learning videos, and pandemic periodDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpf.v8.n2.202007

Abstract

The purpose of thiis research is to develop multimedia with the STEM approach to stimulate HOTS on bioenergy and wind energy materials. The research and development (R&D) method uses the ADDIE design which consists of 5 step, namely: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This article will only report the first two stages namely analysis and design. The instrument used was a product needs analysis questionnaire and a practitioner validation sheet using a Likert scale. The data source of the needs analysis phase is high school students and physics teachers in Lampung Province. Product design validation was carried out by professional physics-teacher teachers with a Masters in Physics Education qualification. Where data is collected via Google Form and analyzed using descriptive qualitative. The results showed that multimeEdia to stimulate HOTS on bioenergy and wind energy was needed in the field. Multimedia which has the potential to stimulate HOTS on bioenergy and wind energy materials consists of videos and simulation of bioenergy and wind energy plants that contain all STEM.Keywords: bioenergy, multimedia, stimulating HOTS, STEM, wind energyDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpf.v8.n2.202001

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of online learning in physics subjects. This study uses qualitative descriptive methods and data obtained by providing evaluation and observation tests. The subject of this study was grade X as many as 18 students. To find out the effectiveness of online physics learning, an evaluation was carried out with an essay test of 5 questions and an observation sheet of 5 types of assessment. Then the results were analyzed by descriptive qualitative.  Based on the results of the analysis, 27.8% got the moderate category, 61.1% got low scores and 11.1% got the very low category. Then for the student activity assessment sheet, there is 14.5% student attendance, 13% of students pay attention to the teacher's explanation, 2.8% of students and do other activities actively during the learning process, and 15% collect assignments. Online learning is ineffective in pandemics. The cause of the low percentage is due to the many obstacles faced by students in participating in online learning, one of which is the lack of supporting facilities for online learning. Keywords: Effectiveness, Physics Learning, Online Learning, PandemicDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpf.v8.n2.202006

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the students’ epistemic game of high physics-capable. This study is qualitative. The participants are students taking fluid mechanics courses. The collect data of this study use fluid mechanics test, physics understanding test, and interview. The understanding test determines the students’ understanding level, while the determining students’ epistemic game by SOLO taxonomy uses the fluid mechanic's test. The students complete the first test by using mapping mathematics to meaning at a relational level and transliteration to mathematics at a multi structural level. Pictorial analysis in level extended abstract and transliteration to mathematics in level relational are used by the students in completing the problem of the second test. Meanwhile, this study result showed that mapping mathematics to the meaning and recursive plug and chug at a relational level is used by the students for completing the third test. Furthermore, the students completing the fourth test used transliteration to mathematics and recursive plug and chug at a relational level The students’ epistemic game by SOLO taxonomy of this study can be used to develop physics learning. Keywords: epistemic game, SOLO taxonomy, fluid mechanicsDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpf.v8.n2.202005
