Abstract

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions based on mathematical literacy are a form of questions that are still rarely found in learning in schools. This study has the aim of developing a HOTS assessment instrument based on mathematical literacy in SPLDV material. The research method uses the type of Research and Development (R&D). This study uses the characteristics of an assessment instrument to determine the ability of students in solving HOTS skills questions based on mathematical literacy, and involves students of class VIII D as the research population of 14 students. Data collection techniques include (1) preparation of instruments (2) determining instrument validity, (3) revising validator instruments, (4) applying research instruments through trials, (5) obtaining HOTS test results based on students' mathematical literacy, (6) revising instrument. The results of the validator test on the aspects of material, construction, and language are included in the very feasible category with the acquisition of a mean score of 0.94, 0.75, 0.96, and 0.96. The results of the student response questionnaire obtained quite agree about the statements related to the HOTS SPLDV questions based on mathematical literacy. The average results of the assessment development show the medium category. Based on the results of the study indicate that the development of the assessment instrument is categorized as very feasible for learning. Following up on the research results, the development of the HOTS question instrument based on mathematical literacy contributes to students in the application of contextual life

Abstract

Mata pelajaran matematika sangat penting dipelajari siswa, karena dalam matematika banyak permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Soal cerita matematika sangat berperan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari peserta didik, karena soal tersebut mengedepankan permasalahan-permasalahan real yang sesuai dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika bentuk cerita pada siswa kelas VIII SMP pada materi sistem persamaan linear dua variabel. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif yang mengacu pada tes tertulis kemampuan menyelesaikan soal cerita dan tes wawancara. Subjek yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah siswa SMP Negeri 3 Cilegon kelas VIII E semester genap tahun ajaran 2020/2021 yang berjumlah 24 siswa. Dari 24 siswa akan diberikan lembar tes untuk memperoleh data berupa hasil jawaban siswa. Selanjutnya, akan dipilih 5 siswa berdasarkan jawaban yang telah diberikan untuk diwawancara., yang diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling (sampel tujuan). Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah soal matematika berbentuk cerita dan wawancara. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan analisis kualitatif dengan tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Soal tes yang akan diberikan kepada siswa berbentuk soal cerita materi SPLDV yang terdiri dari 3 soal. Pada soal nomor 1, terdapat 24 siswa yang mampu memahami soal dengan baik yang berarti siswa mengetahui apa yang diketahui dan yang ditanyakan didalam soal, 24 siswa mampu mengerjakan soal matematika dan mengubahnya dari bentuk cerita kedalam model matematikanya, dan 20 siswa mampu melakukan perhitungan dengan benar. Pada soal nomor 2, terdapat 10 siswa yang mampu memahami soal dengan baik yang berarti siswa mengetahui apa yang diketahui dan yang ditanyakan didalam soal, 10 siswa mampu mengerjakan soal matematika dan mengubahnya dari bentuk cerita kedalam model matematikanya, dan hanya 8 siswa yang mampu melakukan perhitungan yang benar. Pada soal nomor 3, terdapat 22 siswa yang mampu memahami soal dengan baik, 22 siswa mampu mengerjakan soal matematika dan mengubahnya dari bentuk cerita kedalam model matematikanya, dan 18 siswa mampu melakukan perhitungan dengan benar. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dan pembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan menyelesaikan soal bentuk cerita pada materi SPLDV sudah baik.

Abstract

The lack of teaching materials that support the exponential and logarithmic learning process to improve students' mathematical reasoning abilities causes this ability to be not optimal. The purpose of research and development was to develop student worksheets based on mind mapping that was valid and feasible in supporting the improvement of mathematical reasoning on exponential and logarithmic material. The research used the ADDIE development (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). This article describes only the development stage. First, the analysis phase is carried out through curriculum analysis, student characteristics, and material analysis. In contrast, the design phase is carried out with the preparation of product manufacture, the basic framework related to material, and the trial of product instruments. Next, the development stage consists of making LKPD products based on mind mapping, validation of worksheets, practicality tests, and feasibility tests of worksheets. The research subjects in the analysis stage are mathematics teachers and students, while the researcher is in the design stage. In contrast, the development stage is three experts as validators, user teachers as practitioners, and six students of SMA Negeri 1 Kembang class X in the 2021/2022 academic year. The research data were obtained through observation, documentation, interviews, and questionnaires. The study results indicate that the mind mapping-based LKPD development design has a good category. After being declared valid, the practicality test was carried out on the user teacher and claimed practical with an average score of 4.00. After being declared applicable, the feasibility test was carried out to students by distributing questionnaires and was declared very suitable for use with an average score of 4.05.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengeksplorasi kemampuan literasi numerasi siswa pada pemecahan masalah luas segiempat dan trapesium. Siswa kelas VII disalah satu sekolah menengah pertama di Kabupaten Malang merupakan subjek dari penelitian ini. Kualitatif deskriptif digunakan sebagai metode penelitian. Jenis data yang dikumpulkan sesuai dengan hasil tes matematika pada pertanyaan pemecahan masalah luas segiempat dan trapesium. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan meliputi tes, analisis dokumen, dan wawancara. Thematic analysis digunakan sebagai teknik analisis data, sedangkan triangulasi, member checking, dan refleksivitas digunakan sebagai validitas data. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan literasi numerasi siswa pada soal pemecahan luas segiempat dan trapesium, yaitu siswa dapat memiliki kemampuan dalam memecahkan masalah umum terkait luas dalam kehidupan sehari-hari; siswa dapat menganalisis informasi yang diperoleh dari pertanyaan dan kemudian melakukan interpretasi analitik untuk membuat prediksi dan menarik kesimpulan. Kesulitan yang mereka temui adalah kesulitan dalam memahami pertanyaan; kurangnya pemahaman siswa terhadap materi prasyarat; kesulitan dalam merumuskan strategi penyelesaian yang lengkap; dan kesulitan dalam menarik kesimpulanThe purpose of this study is to explore students' numeracy literacy skills in solving quadrilateral and trapezoidal broad problems. Grade VII students in one of the junior high schools in Malang Regency were the subjects of this study. Descriptive qualitative is used as a research method. The type of data collected corresponds to the results of mathematical tests on square and trapezoidal area problem-solving questions. Data collection techniques used include tests, document analysis, and interviews. Thematic analysis is used as a data analysis technique, while triangulation, member checking, and reflexivity are used as data validity. The results of this study show that students' numeracy literacy ability on quadrilateral and trapezoidal broad solving problems, namely that students can have the ability to solve common problems related to area in everyday life; students can analyze the information obtained from the questions and then perform analytical interpretations to make predictions and draw conclusions. The difficulty they encountered was difficulty in understanding the question; lack of student understanding of the prerequisite material; difficulties in formulating a complete settlement strategy; and difficulty in drawing conclusions.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the mathematical representation ability of eighth grade junior high school students on the Pythagorean theorem material based on 3 indicators, namely visual representation, symbolic representation, and verbal representation. This study used the subject of class VIII D students at SMP 1 Mejobo. This research method uses descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. The instrument used is a mathematical representation ability test instrument with the Pythagorean Theorem material. This study uses data analysis techniques in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results obtained from the research are that the representation ability of students in solving the Pythagorean Theorem material questions still needs to be improved again, because the average percentage of students' representation abilities as a whole is 53.12% so that it is in the medium category. Judging from each indicator, the ability of visual representation is included in the high category with a total percentage of 73.12%. However, for the indicator of the ability of symbolic representation or mathematical expression, it is in the medium category with a percentage of 65.83% and the verbal representation ability of students is in the low category with a percentage of 19.37%.

Abstract

Statistical literacy skills have an essential role in various fields of life, one of which is education. This study describes students' statistical literacy skills in solving PISA model questions. This type of research is descriptive-qualitative. The research subjects were students of class VIII Junior High School. Collecting data in this study using tests and interviews. The purposive sampling technique was used to sample 6 students, categorized into three, namely high, medium, and low. Data analysis was carried out using the Mile and Huberman model consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The results showed that students in the high and medium categories met all indicators of statistical literacy skills, namely understanding information, processing data, interpreting data, and evaluating. Students in the low category cannot master the evaluation indicators due to several internal factors.

Abstract

Covariational reasoning is important for students because it is a basic ability to master mathematical concepts. However, in reality many students have difficulty in working on covariational reasoning. One of the factors that influence covariational reasoning is cognitive style. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze covariational reasoning based on cognitive style. The research method used in this study is a qualitative research on prospective mathematics teacher students as many as 4 people taken from 31 people. The research instrument used in this study was GEFT to determine cognitive style, covariational reasoning worksheets, and interviews. The results showed that subjects with FIK and FIL cognitive styles only met MA 3, but FIL had erroneous thoughts. Meanwhile, FDK only met MA 2 and FDL met MA 1. In general, subjects with FI cognitive style had better covariational reasoning abilities than subjects with FD cognitive style.

Abstract

Kebijakan pelaksanaan pembelajaran saat pandemi covid-19 secara daring, membutuhkan adaptasi terhadap ketersediaan sumber belajar yang relevan dengan perkembangan teknologi informasi dan mudah diakses oleh mahasiswa. Ketersediaan buku digital yang relevan dengan materi struktur aljabar yang bisa di akses mahasiswa masih sangat terbatas dan umumnya masih berbahasa inggris. Tujuan  penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan buku digital interaktif sebagai sumber belajar mata kuliah Struktur Aljabar yang valid dan praktis. Penelitian pengembangan yang digunakan adalah model Alessi dan Trollip yang meliputi tiga tahap 1) planing, 2) design, dan 3) development, serta tiga komponen atribut 1) standards, 2) ongoing evaluation, dan 3) project management. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi angket respon mahasiswa terhadap pembelajaran selama masa pandemi covid-19, angket validasi ahli, dan angket respon mahasiswa terhadap buku digital interaktif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa buku digital yang dikembangkan valid (79,3%) dan sangat praktis (87,5%). Buku digital yang dihasilkan berkontribusi dalam pelaksanaan flipped Classroom di perguruan tinggi khususnya matakuliah Struktur Aljabar.

Abstract

 Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian design research tipe validation study yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan learning trajectory pada pembelajaran geometri topik geometri tiga dimensi untuk menunjang kemampuan berpikir kualitatif siswa dengan pendekatan Rigorous Mathematical Thinking (RMT). Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) akan disempurnakan sepanjang pembelajaran yang dilakukan di dalam kelas. Kegiatan dibuat dan dirancang dalam bentuk lembar kerja siswa (LKPD) untuk menunjang proses pembelajaran. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XII SMA Negeri 1 Palembang, sedangkan kelompok fokus penelitian ini adalah 6 siswa dengan kemampuan yang bervariasi yaitu tinggi, sedang, dan rendah yang dipilih berdasarkan hasil prestasi yang didokumentasikan oleh guru dalam semester sebelumnya serta rekomendasi guru mata pelajaran matematika. Ada tiga tahapan dalam melakukan penelitian ini, yaitu: (1) preparing the experiment; (2) design experiment dibagi menjadi preliminary experiment dan teaching experiment; (3) retrospective analysis. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dan akan dianalisis secara kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lintasan belajar yang dibuat menggunakan tingkat berpikir kualitatif dengan indikator yang sering terlihat pada siswa kelas XII MIPA 7 SMA Negeri 1 Palembang adalah indikator visualisasi dan pelabelan. Lintasan belajar yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini didasarkan pada LKPD yang telah dilakukan oleh siswa dimana masalah berkontribusi untuk membangun micro teaching dalam pembelajaran dimensi ketiga. (10pt)This research is a research design type validation study that aims to develop a learning trajectory on the study of geometry topics of three-dimensional geometry to support students' qualitative thinking skills with a Rigorous Mathematical Thinking (RMT) approach. Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) will be refined throughout the lesson carried out in the classroom. The activities were created and designed using student worksheets (LKPD) to support the learning process. The subjects of the study were students of SMA Negeri 1 Palembang class XII, meanwhile, the focus group of this study was 6 students with varied abilities, namely high, medium, and low who were selected based on the achievement result documented by the teacher in the previous semester as well as the recommendations of teachers of mathematics subjects. There are three stages in conducting this research, namely: (1) Preparation Phase; (2) Design experiments divided into pilot experiments and teaching experiments; (3) retrospective analysis. Research data is collected and will be analyzed qualitatively. The results showed that the learning trajectory made using qualitative thinking levels with indicators often seen in students of SMA Negeri 1 Palembang class XII MIPA 7 is an indicator of visualization and labeling. The learning trajectory obtained from this study is based on LKPD that has been done by students where the problem contributes to building micro-teaching in third-dimensional learning.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has an impact on the need for innovative resources and is able to solve problems properly. This makes education an important thing to pay attention to and one of them is with mathematics subjects. One of the focuses in mathematics is the HOTS problem where in its application and work, each student is different. The purpose of this study is to describe the ability of mathematical literacy in solving HOTS problems. The method used in this study is qualitative with data tringaluation. The stage of this study is the collection of data as a whole using two questions that are shared with all students and supported by interviews. The results of this study show that overall mathematical literacy skills in students, the use of HOTS-type mathematics problems in mathematics learning is able to achieve mathematical literacy indicators. However, the mathematical literacy ability in students is different, namely male students have better literacy than female students in solving HOTS problems. Male students can solve problems completely and in sequence, while female students are less coherent in doing the questions.
