Abstract

River is one of fresh water ecosystem which is very important in human life since it is the most practical and economical source in fulfilling domestic and industrial needs. Therefore, it should meet the quality standards. The research objectives were: 1) knowing the quality of waterway in Raman River, Pujodadi, Trimurjo, based on the physical, chemical and biological aspects; 2) turning the information intoa Biology learning source on Ecosystem subject. The data were directly observed in the river by measuring the physical factors (temperature, stream, turbidity); chemical factors (pH, DO); and biological factor (macro invertebrates). The results were: temperature 24-29oC ; stream 0.3 – 0.6 mm/s; turbidity 33.5-3.7 NTU; pH 4.1-5.2; and DO 2.07-2.35 ml/I. Furthermore, micro vertebrates found were; a) Plecoptra; b) Tricoptra; c) Mollusca, d) Ephemeroptra; and e) Hemiptra. In each station, they were classified as insects and non-insects. The insects found were: 1) Odonata; 2) Tricoptra; 3) Ephemeroptra; 4) Plecoptra. Based on those parameters, the waterway quality was qualified as light wasted. The results can be turned into student worksheet as a Biology learning source, especially on Ecosystem subject.

Abstract

Development of Thematic Learning of Global Warming Influence for Life skills of Elementary School Student. Thematic learning is application of holistic education to see a problem from different perspectives. Global warming is a complex problem, it must be expected in holistic conduct. Thematic learning is the right choice to teaching global warming for elementary school students. The research was divided into two stages. Research development stages and experiment research stages. Development of research was aimed at developed main theme of global warming into several theme. Furthermore each theme corresponding to subject-metter. Each  subject-matter will be developed by adopted  Jerol-Kemp development. Research experiments aimed to verify influence of thematic learning toward life skills in addressing problem of global warming. Data were collected using a rubric. Test of hypothesis using anova. A number of 118 fifth grade of the students netted as a sample. The results showed highly significant thematic learning toward life skills with value r = 0.01 of error probability is smaller than standard error a = 0.05. Anova results is indicated that LSD value is 72 more than 41 in conventional learning.Kata kunci: pembelajaran tematik, kecakapan hidup, pemanasan global.

Abstract

α-terpineol is a compound of the class of  terpenoid  alcohols  derived  from natural  materials, α-terpineol can be synthesized from  α-pinene  from  turpentin content of extracts derived  from  the sap of  pine  trees  (Pinus merkusii). α-terpineol has been reported as a natural compound that has potential as anticancer agent. Objectives of research:  In general, to assess the activity of α- terpineol  compounds  against  HeLa  cells  and  the   possible  mechanism,  whereas  specifically  assessing  cytotoxic  activity. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study using post-test only with non-equivalent control group design.  This study was conducted on HeLa cells by administering α-terpineol. Observations  cytotoxic   activity assay was performed using MTT assay method. Results: α -terpineol was cytotoxic against HeLa cells with IC50 of 12,46 μg/mL, therefore this compound was a potential anticancer   Kata kunci :  α-terpineol, sitotoksik, HeLa, kanker leher rahim

Abstract

Students learning outcomes is a change of the students  based their esperienced, that is learning outcomes from learning process that the students doing while learning and appers from students showed by their score. This result got from students activity during learning process. The portofolio based learning demand students as self regulated learners and active in the learning process guided by teacher to gets learning purpose. The classroom action research was conducted in grade XG MAN 2 Metro academic year 2011/2012. The conclusion of this research was the portofolio based learning could increase the students’s achievement in  grade XG MAN 2 Metro year 2011/2012 from the cycle I to the cycle II by 50% and researcher sugests that the portofolio based learning be able used to the increases the students’s achievement of biology learning.  Kata kunci: Pembelajaran Berbasis Portofolio, Aktivitas Belajar, Hasil Belajar

Abstract

The educational world has recently shown that there have been more and more educational observers and practisioners who care about education, particularly in trying to imporve the quality of education. Samarinda is among many other cities in Indonesia that has an ethnical variety. The number of ethnics found to have inhabited Samarinda are: Javanese, Banjarese,  Buginese,  Kutainese,  Dayaks,  Bataks,  Ambonese,  Manadonese,  Chinese,  Butonese, and Maduranese. The ethnical variety can inevitably trigger different problems confronted by the community, particularly the students’ ethincial background at schools. Survey showed that the VIII grade SMP students’ learning results in Samarinda was was still low, The learning strategy that can facilitate these multi-ethnical students will be very helpful in improving their learning results. The learning strategy that can be applied upon multi-ethnical students is the Snowballing cooperative learning strategy. This study aims to find out the influence of the Snowballing strategy upon critical thinking, cognitive learning results, and both of them play role in developing social attitude of multi-ethnic SMP students in Samarinda.  Activites in the study consist of two stages: 1) survey research 2) the experiment-quasy research. Results of the Ancova tests indicated that there was a significant result of the Snowballing learning strategy upon the critical thinking, cognitive learning result and students. There was a significan influence of multi-ethnic condition upon critical thinking, cognitive learning result students. Javanese-ethnic students have the highest critical thinking ability and cognitie learning results compared to the their ethnic groups such as Banjarnese, Bugisnese, Kutainese and Dayaks. The SMP biology science teachers of Samarinda are suggested that they implement both snowballing cooperative strategies, as they have been proven to have been able to improve students’ critical thinking ability and cognitive learning results. Kata Kunci: Snowballing, Multietnik, Berpikir Kritis.

Abstract

Cheese is dairy product resulted from fermented mild in which the fermentation process can be done by lactid acid bacteria or fungus. R.oryzae is able to produce lactic acid, protease and lipase. Ripening process changes the taste and texture. The purpose of this research is ripening to improve the quality of inoculated cheese Rhizopus oryzae. This research the ripening was conducted the concentration variation of temperature (5oC; 10 oC; 15oC), and time (7 days; 14 days). The procedure of research consisted of two steps. The first was un-ripened cheese preparation. The second was the ripening cheese preparation. Cheese produced in this study analyzed the value of pH, fat content, protein content, amino acid levels and identification of microba with Anava then followed by DMRT at 5% level of significance. Data results were analyzed with the likes nonparametric statistical test, followed by Fridman Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test (WSRT) at 5% level sigifican. The results showed that the preferred ripened cheese panelist at a temperature of 150C for 14 days has a pH value of 4.40, the highest protein content of 9.78%, and fat content of 35.02%. Differences affect ripening conditions of pH, fat content, protein content and do not affect the levels of amino acids that formed ripened cheese. The results of identified microba in un-ripened cheese and ripened cheese include Enterococcus hirae (Enterococcus faecalis), Bacillus subtilis, and Aspergillus sp.      Kata kunci: Keju, fermentasi, Rhizopus oryzae, pemeraman, suhu.
