Abstract

A study using Research and Development design  was conducted to produce a model of Biology hand book writing which is ecology and local oriented as an effort to increase students’ care toward environment. The background of this research is the reality which is  still going on so far that the awareness and care of the school graduatee toward the environement safe is still low. Besides, hard science instructional at school could not affect or intervene the graduatee’s characteristics, for instance in keeping the environment awareness. Meanwhile, there are many concepts of environment which had been taught through hard science especially biology. So in the researcher’s point of view, biology subject has strategic role to prevent or mitigate the environment disaster caused by human activities. The model was validated at rice field environments. The analysis of the research result includes three aspects, namely: 1) text comprehension, 2) environment care attitude, and 3) handbook readibility. Based on the result of rice field ecosystem data analysis, it was found that (1) there was  a significant difference between experimental class and control class in the rice field ecosystem which is shown by tcalculation > ttable (6.150 > 2.00); (2) there was strong correlation between students’ comprehension and attitude which is shown by coeficient correlation (r) 0.769. While the text readability test (Cloze test) shown (1) the readability of rice field ecosystem text is 56,72% (moderate). Therefore, the conclusion is that all of the texts in the developed book are fit and proper for SMA students of grade X. Kata kunci: Penulisan buku ajar, orientasi ekologi dan lokal, kepedulian terhadap lingkungan

Abstract

The purpose of this study were to increase the biological activity and learning outcomes through the discussion method. In the theory, discussion method is a method in the learning process so that students dare to issue his opinion, daring to ask and answer questions. The analysis of data showed an increase in activity and student learning outcomes. The research was conducted at grade VII MTs. Muhammadiyah Margototo academic year 2011/2012. Expression increased the activity of 10.29%, the activity of your friends pay attention when presenting the results of their discussion to increase 24.02%, the activity increased 11.27% to ask questions, answer questions activity increased 16.67% and complete the task group activities increased 19.52%. On learning outcomes also increased with evidence of students increased to 24% complete.  Kata Kunci: Diskusi, Aktivitas Belajar, Hasil Belajar.

Abstract

The research was to incrase of students' critical thinking skills. The subject of this study were SMAN 2 Metro grade X4 class numbering 30 student in the second semester of the academic 2011/2012. And the object of his research is the critical thinking skills. The results showed that the implementation of problem-based learning model on Biology learning, can increase students' critical thinking skills. Increase critical thinking skills is almost all indicators, such as the ability of clarification, argumentation skills, induction skills, deduction skills, and ability to perform and execute. Increase critical thinking skills that students can be seen from the increase in the average value of each point about the cycle I and cycle II. The success of critical thinking can also be seen from the increase in the thoroughness of learning, that is equal to 6 students in cycle I to cycle II is 24 students. The means the percentage of students who achieve greater value equal to 72 also increased, from 20% in cycle I to 80% in cycle II. Kata Kunci: Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah, Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis

Abstract

Abstract: One of the obstacles that farmers faced is the presence of leaf pests. The effort to reduce the use of synthetic pesticides is necessary to look for the alternative ingredients derived from plants that have potential as plant pesticide. One of them is papaya plant. The purposes of this study are (1st) to know the whether there is effect of variant dose of papaya leaf solution toward mortality of leaf pests. (2nd) to know whether the dose of papaya leaf solution is the most appropriate for leaf pests mortality. (3rd) to arrange the biology learning source to senior high school students of tenth grades in even semester. This research was an experimental design and this research was completely randomizes design (RAL) by using five times repeats by using variant doses in the control treatment, 15gr/L, 20gr/L, 25gr/L, 30gr/L, 35gr/L. The data were analyzed by using non-parametric test one-way ANOVA. The results showed the percentage of the leaf pests from the lowest to the highest are control=0%, 15gr/L=64%, 30gr/L=68%, 20gr/L=76%, and 35gr/L=92%. From the result of discussion and conclusion that there was significant influence on the variant dose of papaya leaf solution toward mortality of leaf pests by testing the hypotheses that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Because, X2count 18,25> X2 table 9,49 at and X2 count 18,25 > X2table 13,3 at  on the chi-square table. Based on this result of the research and discussion, it can be conclude that (1st) there was significant influence on the administration of papaya leaf solution, toward mortality of leaf pests, it was gained the coefficient H=18,25 > chi-square value 9,49 at α level of 0,05 and 13,3 at α level 0,01. (2nd) at dose 35gr/L of papaya leaf solution was the best dose to mortality of the leaf pest. (3rd) the result can be used as a source of biology learning to senior high school students, tenth grades in even semester for the worksheet of Students Activity (LPKS) about the interaction of ecosystem of the pests and diseases in plants.

Abstract

This research aims to implement the model learning cycle "5E" accompanied by worksheets to increase activity, science process skills and student learning outcomes. This model provides student involvement and hands-on experience for students, develop a collaborative manner with the group and share your knowledge with other students. Conclusions of this study is the implementation model of learning cycle "5E" with worksheets may enhance the activity, science process skills, and student learning outcomes of  X8 in the second semester  at senior high school 4th Metro on academic year 2011/2012. The increase can be observed as follows: the activity of reading the literature by 23%, experiment activity (drawing objects of observation) by 25%, in a group discussion activity by 23%, the activity of asking questions by 17%, and argues activity by 10%. In the process skills of science students on aspects of the skill increased by 25% using the tool, the object classifies 30%, the cooperation within the group by 22%, delivering the acquisition of 23%. Learning outcomes of students has increased by 4% which is in cycle I of 71% to 75% in cycle II. As for the improvement of pre-survey to cycle II by 56% which is 19% in pre-survey become to 75% in Cycle II. Kata kunci: model learning cycle "5E" disertai LKS, aktivitas belajar, keterampilan proses sains, hasil belajar
