Abstract

This community service aimed to develop a character-building program at SMPN 15 Kota Malang to prevent sexual violence and bullying among students by fostering ethics and empathy. The service involved several activities, including initial surveys to identify risk factors, curriculum development, training for teachers and staff, and workshops for parents. The implementation focused on cultivating students’ understanding of ethics and empathy through interactive learning and group discussions. The program evaluation indicated significant improvements: 85% of students reported increased awareness of empathy, while bullying and sexual violence cases decreased by 35%. Additionally, parental involvement in school activities increased by 50%. These results suggest that the program effectively fostered a safer, more inclusive school environment and should be expanded to other schools.

So far, the government has a Family/Community Based Rehabilitation (RBM) program aimed at mobilizing the community in providing assistance and support for persons with disabilities and their families by utilizing the potential of local social welfare sources. Disability can occur in all age groups, including children, adults and the elderly. The methods of this activity include: socialization to persons with disabilities. Disability screening, disability treatment as needed, and provision of assistive devices when needed according to the needs of patients with disabilities. This activity is expected to get great appreciation and interest from the target community, namely the elderly in the Malang City area. Follow-up of this activity is needed to ensure the sustainability of the disability treatment program in accordance with the Family / Community Based Rehabilitation Program.

Abstract

Halal food is increasingly important for both Muslims and non-Muslims due to its cleanliness and health benefits. Halal certification, regulated by Law No. 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Assurance, is essential for building consumer trust, expanding markets, and boosting company sales. It is particularly crucial for MSMEs, such as food stalls, as it impacts both trust and revenue. This community service project helped the Sweet Hony canteen obtain halal certification through socialization, interviews, and document preparation, supported by students, Field Supervising Lecturers (FSL), and the Halal Research Center at Mulawarman University. The effort led to the issuance of a Business Identification Number (BIN) and an ongoing halal certification process.

Abstract

Tasikmadu and Gemaharjo villages are two villages in Watulimo have considerable potential in tourism and MSME products. However, rural communities including tourism actors, village officials, and MSME players are still unable to maximize the potential of the village, due to the lack of ability of tourism managers and MSME actors in promoting tourism and its products widely. Therefore, this activity intends to increase the knowledge and ability of tourism actors, village officials, and MSME actors from Tasikmadu and Gemaharjo villages in promoting tourism and MSME products. This is done by developing tourism profiles and MSMEs digitally.  The evaluation results showed that the activity was quite successful in increasing tourism promotion in Tasikmadu by utilizing the village's Instagram social media. Abstract

Sea Turtles are a type of reptile that predominantly inhabit marine environments, and their populations have experienced a significant decline due to various factors such as natural habitat destruction, marine pollution, predation, and commercial hunting. Conservation efforts are crucial to maintaining the sustainability of turtle populations. The Sea Turtle Conservation Area in Malang Regency, known as Bajulmati Sea Turtle Conservation (BSTC) Malang, has committed to caring for adult turtles, hatching eggs, and nurturing turtle hatchlings. However, these conservation activities have not been fully optimized, particularly in monitoring nesting turtles, rescuing eggs, and addressing turtle diseases. This Community Service Initiative aims to provide knowledge and skills to the conservation area managers related to monitoring, rescuing, and treating turtle diseases. The goal is to enhance the number of saved turtle eggs and improve their survival rate.

Abstract

The computer display screen is an increasingly important and ubiquitous part of the modern visual environment. The photometric and colorimetric characteristics of computer display screens can have important consequences for the performance, visual fatigue and visual comfort of users. In the present study, two aspects of display screen performance were evaluated in terms of objective and subjective outcomes: an ambient brightness control designed to adjust the display luminance to the ambient lighting conditions in the space, and reduced short-wavelength spectral content designed to minimize visual discomfort and fatigue associated with this spectral region. The results indicate that the tested visual display functions yielded several measurable improvements compared to a display without these functions.

Abstract

Cendono Village is a sugarcane-producing village with sugarcane areas reaching 50% of agricultural land. The distinctive sugarcane products of Cendono Village are green sugarcane juice drinks and green sugarcane syrup, managed and produced by a productive youth group called Yodhatama. The processed products of this productive youth group are manufactured through a third-party manufacturing system at BUMDES Makmur Abadi, Bendosari Village, Blitar. Activities conducted include equipment facilitation, training and assistance in implementing aseptic sterilization and hot filling, product diversification, and process standardization. Diversification of green sugarcane processed products includes cup-packaged sugarcane juice drinks, jelly drinks, and jelly candies. Production training is conducted with equipment facilitation in the form of food dehydrators and cup sealers. Quality control and consistency are achieved through the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
