Abstract

The impact of urban development is the tendency of the shift of urban functions shift to urban fringe area that is called urban sprawl. The phenomenon of urban sprawl in urban fringe area has resulted in land conversion process from agriculture to non-agriculture. Furthermore, this conversion of agriculture land to non-agriculture land will result in settlement desification process in urban fringe area. This process that happens in urban fringe area is a respond to increasing demand of space in urban area. In turn, the spatial transformation will be followed by socio-economic, cultural, and physical environment transformation process.

Abstract

This paper discusses the relationship between tourism and tourist's impression on its environment. It argues that tourists are willing to have and observe a comprehensive tourism activities in which more Contact & understanding on local people and possible participation in their daily lives is preferable than merely visit and see the tourist object. Decision makers could consider this approach in developing any local tourism activities.

Abstract

Bali is a unique place mainly due to its existence as an island populated mostly by Balinese Hindu. As such the Balinese traditional-religious conceptions of space are influential in the landscapes design. This paper examines the site plan and landscape design of Regency of Badung Civic Center in the Province of Bali Indonesia k describes the design approach taken by its designers, in which they explored the traditional-religious conceptions of space in relation to the design goals. The Balinese urban design objectives as proposed by Samadhi (2001 a, b) will be utilized as the tool of evaluation.

Abstract

Urban land policy and management in Indonesia are very weak; some problems can be identified i.e. problems in land tenure system, land registration systems, land delivery and acquisition, land use planning, land taxes, and land ceiling. At the same lime, the process of urbanization and urban growth are increasing and the problem of urban land is getting more complex and capable of creating conflicts. Considering the importance of the efficient use of land and its equal distribution for a sustainable development, this paper argues that reformation in land policy and management in Indonesia is needed both at the level of policy guidelines and at the level of implementation.

Abstract

Suburbanization In development of large cities and metropolitan in Indonesia have shown the multinodal growth pattern. Peri-urban area has grown into housing  job activities and service centers as it may follow the polycentric structure. This paper explores the phenomenon of the urban spatial structure development based on the theoretical framework and empirical test possibility. The theoretical background discusses the urban structure models, critics to monocentric model and polycentric development An understanding of the polycentric development can lead to the identification of an research agenda for Indonesian cities.

Abstract

Social equity in urban infrastructure planning is important, especially where the infrastructure investment is high, and charging systems are applied: this will lead some people could not afford a fair delivery of services. The role of the planners is important to secure infrastructure delivery for the poor within the adopted and applied planning system in a respective country to anticipate the trend of privatization in production and delivery of infrastructure and services.

Abstract

Regionalization is a method to understand a region based on the characteristic according to its potency and problems. Regionalization in relation with development is a regional grouping based on the possibì1iy of its development As a consequance regionalization assessment has become an important necessity for regional development planning. Based on the reasons mentioned above, this research is intended to: (1) arrange regions based on the potency of various development sectors, (2) identity leading sectors at each kecamatan, (3) utilize regionalization to determine regional priority and development policy.

Abstract

This article is a research study aimed to implement demand approach on wafer supply development in East Java province. Data collecting is conducted through field and institutional survey to obtain actual and behavioral variables. System analysis is operated to project the water supply development dynamically. The research showed that pricing policy and PDAM's management improvement succeeded to create a significant incentive for the water supply development. The policies of price growth 2 percent and gradual decreasing of unaccounted for water into 30 percent have produced a decrease in investment requirement. Water demand, and production capacity of 86, 78 and 59 percent lower than existing policy. The policy also performed an increase in Kali Sarabaya 's water quality.
