Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the differences of students’ cognitive learning outcome through project based learning method and conventional one. To collect the data, an experimental research is conducted by using pretest – posttest control group design. The samples were the second semester students of class XI of MAN 1 Sigli, Pidie regency which consisted of 66 students (33 students of class XI IPA-2 and 33 students of class XI IPA-3). Project based learning method was implemented in experimental class; meanwhile conventional method was implemented in control class. The data were analyzed by using independent sample t-test with SPSS 16.0 for Windows at significant level of 0.05. The result showed that there was a significant improvement of cognitive learning outcome of experimental class students (tcount7,156 > 2,000). It can be concluded that project based learning can increase students’ cognitive achievement.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to figure out the relevancy of the reference used from verses of the Qur'an to the topic of research, the suitability of the placement of the verses of the Qur'an and supporting references in explaining the verses of the Qur'an in the theses of biology education department students. The methods used in this research were documentation and descriptive analytic method. The data were analyzedby using checklist. The results showed that the relevancy between some verses of Al Qur’an with the topic of the research was 66,7%. While the relevancyof the content of some verses of Al Qur’an with the topic/sub topic of discussion was 57,1%. The suitability of placement of some verses of Al Qur’an based on chaptersin the theses was 54,8%. Meanwhile, the suitability of placement of some verses of Al Qur’an based on the topic/subtopic titles was 50%. Based on the availability of supporting references in explaining some verses of Al Qur’an, it was found that there were 40,5% of students had made conclusions based on supporting references. In conclusion,the level of relevancy and suitability of references from some verses of Qur’an to the topic and its placement were catagorized in the level of appropriate, less appropriate, and inappropriate.

Abstract

Dosen adalah komponen penting dalam sistem pendidikan di perguruan tinggi. Tugas utamanya memberikan pendidikan, pengajaran, penelitian dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Untuk menjalankan tugas tersebut, dosen harus memiliki empat kompetensi dasar, salah satunya kompetensi akademik yakni kemampuan dosen dalam mengelola pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui kompetensi akademik dosen dalam mengelola pembelajaran meliputi penguasaan landasan kependidikan, pemahaman terhadap peserta didik, perancangan proses pembelajaran dan pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran serta penyusunan evaluasi hasil belajar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 22 orang dosen Fakultas Tarbiyah IAIN Ar-Raniry. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Kompetensi akademik dosen dalam penguasaan landasan kependidikan sudah baik dan sesuai dengan ketentuan yang berlaku mulai dari latal belakang pendidikan sebelum menjadi pendidik, materi ajar sesuai keilmuan, menguasai tentang ilmu kependidikan dan adanya minat melanjutkan studi ke jenjang lebih tinggi. (2) Pemahaman terhadap peserta didik sudah bagus, adanya kemampuan dalam penguasaan ilmu psikologi/jiwa dan ilmu psikologi pendidikan khusus dalam memahami peserta didik. (3) Perancangan proses pembelajaran sudah membaik. Penguasaan materi ajar, penggunaan strategi, media dan metode serta pembuatan SAP dilaksanakan oleh dosen. (4) Pelaksanaaan proses pembelajaran sudah maksimal, adanya kemampuan berinteraksi dan mengkomunikasikan materi pembelajaran, dapat mengkondisikan lingkungan belajar yang kondusif, memiliki ketrampilan dalam memadukan metode dan strategi pembelajaran. (5) Penyusunan evaluasi hasil belajar sudah maksimal, dosen mampu membuat soal dan pembobotannya, mengetahui kemajuan peserta didik, mampu mendiagnosa kesulitan belajar serta dapat memberikan umpan balik dalam memperbaiki proses perkuliahan. Hasil penelitian diharapkan dapat dijadikan dasar untuk meningkatkan kompetensi akademik dosen Fakultas Tarbiyah IAIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh. Kata Kunci: Kompetensi Akademik dan Dosen Lecturer is an important component in educational system in higher education. Lecturer’s main duties are providing education, teaching, research and service for society. Lecturer should have four basic competences, one of them is academic competence, which is the lecturer’s competence in teaching management. The purpose of the study was to find out the lecture’s academic competence in teaching management, comprising of the mastery of foundation of education, understanding the learner, learning process design, learning process implementation, and learning outcome evaluation arrangement. This study used descriptive method and qualitative approach. Data collection technique used were observation, interview, and documentation study. Subject of the study were 22 lecturers of Tarbiyah Faculty of Ar-Raniry State Institute for Islamic Studies. The result of the study showed that: (1) academic competence of the lecturer in mastery the foundation of education was good and in accordance with applicable provision such as educational background before became an educator, learning material that in accordance with knowledge, mastery of educational science and interest to continue study to higher level. (2) Understanding toward the learner was good, there was ability in mastery of psychology and psychology of education especially in understanding the learners. (3) The designing of learning process had been improved. The mastery of material, use of strategies, media, methods and subject program unit applied by the lecturers. (4) The implementation of learning process was maximal, there were competence to interact and communicate the learning material, create a conducive learning environment, and combine learning methods and strategies. (5) The development of learning outcome evaluation was maximal. The lecturers were able to develop the question and it scoring, knew the progress of the learners, were able to diagnose the learning difficulty and provide feedback in order to improve the learning process. It is expected that the result of the research can be used as a basic to improve the academic competence of the lecturers of Tarbiyah Faculty of Ar-Raniry State Institute for Islamic Studies. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to recycle a number of textiles solid wastes into a variety of handycrafts. Material of this research were collected from from landfill at Gampong Java in Banda Aceh. A number of selected textile wasteconverted into benefical products by adopted Patchwork technigues at Department of Education and Family Walfare, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Syiah Kuala University. Accuracy for selecting and designing are the most determine aspects for better quality of the products. This recycling program not only reduced environmental pollution by textile solid waste but also and increase incomes of the society as well.

Abstract

This study aims to know types of orchid (Orchidaceae) on Rubiah Island of Sabang City. Data were collected by using exploration method (observation). The entire island was explored by following the existing tracks or roads. The study was conducted in two (2) locations, on the outskirts of the island ( 0 s / d 100 m from the seashore ) and the central region of the island (100 m to 500 m from the seashore). The data were analyzed descriptively and displayed in the form of figures and tables. From the results of the research, it was found that there were 11 kinds of orchids which consists of six genera, they are: Aerides, Coelogyne, Cymbidium, Dendrobium, Phalaenopsis, and Vanda. The orchid species found in all of the observation point is asperata Coelogyne, Dendrobium phalaenopsis and Vanda limbata.

Abstract

Kurikulum KTSP yang digunakan di dunia pendidikan Indonesia menempatkan komponen penilaian pada posisi penting. Hal ini karena komponen penilaian diyakini memberikan dampak nyata bagi keberhasilan pembelajaran kompetensi kepada siswa yang dapat dilihat dari kemampuan siswa memahami konsep. Untuk mengukur pemahaman konsep siswa maka digunakanlah Concept Mapping Assessment (CMA) bervisi SETS. Tujuan yang ingin dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui respon siswa terhadap perangkat CMA bervisi SETS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa memberi tanggapan yang baik terhadap penggunaan CMA bervisi SETS. Hal ini terlihat berdasarkan data sebanyak 69 dari 81 siswa memberi respon positif terhadap CMA. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat CMA bervisi SETS efektif dan dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu alat penilaian. Adapun saran dianjurkan untuk melaksanakan penelitian lanjutan guna mengembangkan perangkat CMA yang lebih aplikatif didalam mengukur pencapaian kompetensi biologi lainnya. Kata Kunci: Concept Mapping Assesment (CMA) dan SETS KTSP curriculum used in education in Indonesia puts assessment component in an important position. This is because the assessment component is believed to be a substantial impact on the success of the students learning competencies that can be seen from the students' ability to understand the concepts. To measure the students' understanding of the concept it is used Concept Mapping Assessment (CMA) vision SETS. The objective of this research was to determine the students' response to the CMA SETS vision. The results showed that students gave positive respond to the use of CMA SETS vision. This can be seen by the data, 69 of 81 students responded positively to the CMA. It can be concluded that the CMA visionary SETS effective and can be used as an evaluation tool. It is recommended to carry out further research in order to develop the CMA to be more applicable in measuring the achievement of other biological competence. Abstract

Research entitled "Improving Student Motivation of Class XII Science 1 of SMA Negeri 1 Sakti in Pidie Regency in Biology Lessons Using Cooperative Learning Models with Singing Techniques" The problem formulation is (1) How do students' motivation in using cooperative learning models with singing techniques on principles material human heredity in class XII of SMA Negeri 1 Sakti, (2) How are the activities of students and teachers in using cooperative learning models with singing techniques on the principles of human heredity in class XII of SMA Negeri 1 Sakti, (3) How do students respond to the use of cooperative learning models with singing techniques on the material principles of human heredity in class XII of SMA Negeri 1 Sakti. This research is a classroom action research (CAR), with the subject of the research being students of class XII, collecting data using tests and observation sheets. Data were analyzed using percentage descriptive statistics. The results of data analysis can be concluded that: (1) There was an increase in the learning outcomes of class XII students of SMA Negeri 1 Sakti on the material principles of heredity by using cooperative learning models with singing techniques. This can be seen from the individual completeness of 66 percent in the first cycle to 83 percent in the second cycle. Classical completeness also increased from the first cycle by 50 percent, to 70 percent in the second cycle, (2) Teacher and student activities between the first cycle to the second cycle increased based on the time spent in the second cycle closer to the ideal time than in the first cycle , (3) There is an increase in student motivation on the material principles of human heredity through the use of cooperative learning models with singing techniques. This is seen from the response of students who say that there are benefits gained in learning through the use of cooperative learning models with singing techniques to the material that has been learned.

Abstract

Penelitian analisis habitat gajah sumatera (Elephas maximus sumatranus) dilakukan di Kecamatan Peunaron Kabupaten Aceh Timur pada bulan September sampai dengan Oktober 2016. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keberadaan gajah sumatera dan kondisi habitatnya. Metode yang digunakan adalah survei eksploratif deskriptif  dengan mengamati secara langsung pada setiap area lintasan. Data yang telah dikumpulkan dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik SMART untuk mengetahui keberadaan gajah liar dan kondisi habitat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kawasan habitat yang digunakan oleh gajah memiliki frekwensi habitat yang berbeda-beda, terlihat dari jejak gajah yang ditemukan pada jalur lintasan. Jejak gajah lebih banyak ditemukan dibandingkan dengan jejak satwa liar lainnya. Jejak gajah yang ditemukan didominasi oleh jejak kotoran sebanyak 56%, karena jejak kotoran lebih bertahan lama dari pada jejak tapak. Di kawasan ini, gajah lebih suka bermain di hutan sekunder daripada jenis hutan lainnya, dengan persentase temuan pada jenis hutan tersebut sebanyak 53%, karena hutan sekunder seperti di kawasan areal perkebunan banyak menyediakan tempat bernaung dari sinar matahari dan menyediakan pakan muda. Analisis peta citra satelit dalam kurun waktu 10 tahun menggambarkan kondisi habitat kawasan hutan di Kecamatan Peunaron terus menyusut sebanyak 12.726,02 hektar dari total luas Kecamatan Peunaron sebesar 75.187,45 hektar. Ancaman penyusutan hutan didominasi oleh penebangan kayu olahan sebesar 35%, temuan kayu olahan di lapangan mencapai 346,236 m3. Aktifitas manusia dalam kawasan habitat gajah menjadi faktor pemicu terjadinya konflik satwa tersebut dengan manusia.

Abstract

Penelitian yang berjudul “Penerapan Pembelajaran Kooperatif Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) Berbasis Multimedia Terhadap Berpikir Kritis Siswa SMAN 1 Sakti Kabupaten Pidie Pada Materi Sistem Pernapasan Manusia” telah dilakukan pada tanggal 22 April sampai dengan tanggal 18 Mei 2013 di SMA Negeri 1 Sakti Kabupaten Pidie. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan berpikir kritis siswa antara kelas yang menggunakan model tipe STAD berbasis multimedia dengan kelas konvensional pada siswa kelas XI-IPA di SMAN 1 Sakti Kabupaten Pidie pada materi sistem pernapasan manusia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain kontrol grup tes awal dan tes akhir. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah keseluruhan siswa kelas XI yang berjumlah 176 siswa, sampelnya sebanyak 60 siswa yang dibagi menjadi dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes untuk menilai keterampilan berpikir kritis. Parameter penelitian ini adalah keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji t pada taraf signifikan 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan berpikir kritis siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan kooperatif STAD berbasis multimedia dengan konvensional. Keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa yang diajarkan dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD berbasis multimedia lebih baik daripada keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa yang diajarkan dengan model konvensional. Kata Kunci: STAD, Multimedia, Berpikir kritis, dan Sistem Pernapasan Manusia. A study entitled "The application of Cooperative Learning Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) of Multimedia -Based toward Critical Thinking of SMAN 1 Sakti Pidie Students in the material of Human Respiratory System" has been conducted since April 22 until May 18, 2013. This study was aiming at finding out the differences of students’ critical thinking between the class that used STAD models based on multimedia and the conventional one. This study was conducted in Science Class grade XI of SMAN 1 Sakti Pidie district in the material of human respiratory system. This study used a quasi-experimental method with pre-test and post-test control group design. The population of this study was all of students class XI for about 176 students. Meanwhile, the samples were 60 students that were divided into two classes, namely experimental class and control one. The instrument used in this study was a test of critical thinking skills. The data then analyzed by using t-test at the significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the critical thinking skill of students who learned by cooperative STAD using multimedia -based was better than those who learned by using conventional one. Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the density index of phytoplankton and Aedes albopictus larvae found in breeding sites. The object of research was phytoplankton and Aedes albopictus larvae taken at Syiah Kuala District, Banda Aceh. Data was collected in December 2014 and January 2015. This study used a descriptive exploratory design. The research parameters are the type and density of phytoplankton found in various breeding places found at the study site. Data on the density of Aedes albopictus larvae was analyzed using the House and Container Index, and Density Index. This study found 15 species of phytoplankton with the larvae density index was 203 ind/L and phytoplankton density index was 649 ind/L.
