Abstract

One type of algae that potentially reduces palm oil mill effluent is Spirogyra sp. Spirogyra sp. Has a wide distribution on the coast of Indonesia and is still underutilized by pond farmers. This study aims to test the efficiency of Spirogyra as a bioremediation agent of palm oil liquid waste and to examine the effect of palm oil liquid waste on the growth of Spirogyra. This research was conducted from March to July 2017. The research design consisted of five treatments, treatment A control (0 mL.L-1), B treatment (25 mL.L-1), C treatment (50 mL.L-1) ), Treatment D (75 mL.L-1) and E treatment (100 mL.L-1). Observation parameters include absolute growth, relative growth rate, doubling time and water quality parameters (pH, temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen and COD). Abstract

This research is to observe the Seurukan (Osteochilus vittatus) fish liver microscopic structure in Krueng Sabee river, Aceh Jaya Regency. Fish and river water samples were taken from May to June 2015. Histological techniques and research parameters was conducted in FMIPA Microtechnic Laboratory, Syiah Kuala University, while river water and Seurukan fish mercury level was analyzed in Balai Riset dan Standarisasi Industri, Banda Aceh. Completely Randomized Design was applied of the research with three treatments. The treatments were location of fish sample taken through the lenght of Krueng Sabee river that were Panggong village (location I), Paya Seumantok village (location II), and Mon Mata village (location III). Each treatment consisted of six repetition (six fishes). Microscopic structure of Seurukan fish liver was observed with paraffin method histological techniques. Abstract

This study aims to determine the character values in laboratory activities, the process of character building and to find out the causes of the reduced character values of biology education students. The method used is the triangulation method. Data collection is done by observation, in-depth interviews and distributing questionnaire sheets. The results showed the lowest character value criteria was honesty, that wasin enough category with an average score of 3.32. It can be concluded that the overall character values of biology education students are classified as good with an average value of 3.55. Although the process of character building for biology education students through laboratory activities has been carried out by providing punishment and rewards, there are reduced character values due to insufficient face-to-face time in laboratory activities, lack of cooperation among assistants, and students’ lack of awareness to obey the rules, self-introspection and motivation.

Abstract

DNA extract is the first phase of molecular research which really influences the quality of DNA isolate. The aim of this study was to find out the comparison of DNA extract by using Phenol-Chloroform and KIT extraction. The visualization of DNA isolate resulted from electrophoresis technique after leptin gen of Aceh’s cow and Madura’s cow were amplificated through in vitro (Polymerase Chain Reaction). There were not any techniques of DNA extraction which can provide excellence results as a whole. Phenol-Chloroform extraction method gives advantage for lower price, more sensitive in isolating DNA, and clear DNA ribbon. Meanwhile, KIT extraction method is easier, fast, and thick DNA produced.

Abstract

The title of the research was "The morphology of pollen of Familia Poaceae at Syiah Kuala University in Banda Aceh". The purpose of this study was to know the morphology of Poaceae allergenic. The microscopic pollen preparat was made by acetolysis method. The data were collected by using descriptive methods and photos. Pollen microscopic preparat was made by acetolysis method. The data were collected by using descriptive method and picture. The parameters used in this research were unit, shape, aperture, sculpture, and allergenic types of the pollen. The result showed that there were 30 species of grass from familia poaceae. The pollen unit was all monads, its shape was subspheroidal, the size was varied magna, media, and minute +, its apertures were tricolpage and monoporate. Its sculpture has psilate, acabrate, and bverrucate. Looking from its sculptur, the pollen was allergenic.

Abstract

Penelitian yang berjudul “Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe Jigsaw Pada Konsep Sistem Pencernaan Makanan Manusia Terhadap Hasil Belajar Siswa SMA Negeri 1 Sakti Kabupaten Pidie” telah dilakukan pada bulan Mei. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif Jigsaw dengan model pembelajaran konvensional. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dengan desain penelitian pretest-posttest control group design. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes objektif berupa tes pilihan ganda. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan memberikan pretest dan postest. Pengolahan data dilakukan dengan mencari N-gain dan membandingkan N-gain kelas eksperimen dengan N-gain kelas kontrol. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan ujit independent sample test. Hasil uji statistik untuk hasil belajar siswa menunjukkan hasil thitung 12,13 dengan ttabel 1,645. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar pada siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif Jigsaw dengan siswa yang diajarkan dengan model pembelajaran konvensional di SMA Negeri 1 Sakti Kabupaten Pidie. Kata Kunci: Kooperatif Jigsaw dan Hasil Belajar The research entitled “The Implementation of Jigsaw Cooperative Models in the Concept of Human Digestive Systems on Learning Outcomes of Senior High School Students” was carried out from April to May, 2013 at Public Senior High School (SMAN 1) Sakti, Pidie district. This research aimed at identifying the different of students’ learning outcomes taught using Jigsaw Cooperative and Conventional Teaching Models. The method used in this study was experimental methods using pretest-posttest control group design. The instrument used in this study was an objective test with multiple choice items. The data were obtained from pre-tests, post-tests, and questionnaires. They were then analyzed by using N-gain. The N-gain from experimental class was compared to the control class. After that, t-test was calculated (independent sample test). The statistical result of students’ learning shows that tcount > ttable (12.13 > 1.645). The conclusion of this research was that there were differences between learning outcomes of students who have been taught using Jigsaw Cooperative Teaching Models, and students who were taught using Conventional Teaching Models at SMAN 1 (Public Senior High School) Sakti, Pidie District. Abstract

The teacher ability to use instructional model is one of efforts to ease the teaching learning process. Teacher activity to use cooperative learning model with STAD type (students Achievement Division) engage students to participate actively in the classroom. Teacher acts as a facilitator to help students to achieve instructional goals in the concept of human reproductive system. Teachers need to use teaching strategies that facilitate students in following the teaching materials as well as get full information from various sources. Each teacher can manage the classroom as a solid team among students by selecting a heterogenous members of the group from different category such as low level, clever, very clever to work together and to enable them to participate actively in their group. Therefore the model of Cooperative Learning Team Achievement Division can help students and teachers to conduct an active teaching and learning process in the classroom. In the end, it is expected that a heterogenous cooperative group can result to a better learning outcomes in the concept of human reproductive system.

Abstract

This study entitled “Identifying the misconceptions in nervous system in12th Grade of biology textbook” aims to identify misconception on biology textbooks’ about nervous system. The method of the research was descriptive. The objects of the research were 7 of biology textbooks for grade xi published within the last 5 years. The national education regulation no. 1 year 2011, 4 january 2011 states that the textbook used at school should be at least in the last 5 years. The instrument used were observation sheet to compare the concept of the investigated book to the foreign source textbook as guidance. The results showed that there were misconceptions in the material of nerve system contained in 7 textbooks investigated, they were in the concept of structure and function of nervous, impuls, central nervous system and peripheral nervous system.

Abstract

Penelitian dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif mahasiswa, menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan rancangan Pretest-postest Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa yang memprogramkan mata kuliah pengetahuan lingkungan dan kependudukan pada Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi FITK IAIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh. Kelas eksperimen dibelajarkan dengan pembelajaran berbasis PBL, sedangkan kelas kontrol dibelajarkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji-t (Independent Samples t Test). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan yang signifikan terhadap hasil belajar kognitif mahasiswa (t-hit. 6,297 > t-tabel 2,005) yang dibelajarkan melalui model PBL. Dengan demikian, pembelajaran menggunakan model PBL dinyatakan dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif mahasiswa pada perkuliahan pengetahuan lingkungan dan kependudukan. Kata Kunci: Problem Based Learning, Hasil Belajar Kognitif, dan Pencemaran Lingkungan. The Research aimed to improve cognitive learning outcome of students, by using experimental method with Pretest-Postest Control Group Design. The population of this research was the students majoring in environment and demography at biology education department of Tarbiyah and Teaching Faculty of IAIN Ar-Raniry at Banda Aceh. Experimental class was treated by using Problem Based Learning model, while control class was treated by using conventional learning. Data analysis and the result were obtained by using the t-test (independent sample t-test). The result of the test showed that there was a significant improvement to cognitive learning outcome students (tcount 6,297 > ttab 2,005) treated by using PBL model. therefore, PBL model can improve to cognitive learning outcome at environment and demography department. Abstract

Research on the characteristics of Mangrove Crab Habit (Scylla sp) in Silang Cadek Mangrove Ecosystem, Baitussalam Subdistrict, Aceh Besar District, Aceh Province. This study aims to determine the habitat characteristics of Mangrove Crab (Scylla sp) in the Mangrove Ecosystem of Silang Cadek. The research method is survey with purposive sampling technique. The results of the survey are described. The results of the research showed that the water temperature data ranged from 22 s.d 25°C, the pH ranged from 7.5 to 7.7, the water salinity ranged from 30‰ -34‰. Substrate loamy sand, sandy loam, sandy clay loam. There are 4 constituent species of mangrove plants namely Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Rhizopora stylosa, Rhizopora apiculata, Avicennia marina. Macrozoobenthos found were Nerita lineata, Uca crassipes, Terebralia palustris, Terebralia sulcata, Isognomon ephippium, Saccostrea cucculata, Uca demani, Scylla serrata, Scylla olivacea, Scylla paramamosain.
