Abstract

The purpose of the research was to apply sustainable fertilizing system in organic farming                 by System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method. The research was conducted at Sukarasa village, Tasikmalaya West Java. The experiments were conducted using various levels of compost (0, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, and 15 tons/acre) and local microorganism (LMO) with different spraying frequencies (0, 4 and 8 times) over the planting season. The results showed that there were no significant effects of yield from organic farming developed by the variety of system introduced above. This result reveals                     no positive correlation between adding more compost and LMO to the yield. The average yield was 4.29 tons/acre. The availability of organic material taken from household garbage and straw                    is 1216. 82 tons. However the need of this organic material to form compost in Sukarasa village is only 922. 35 tons per planting season.

Abstract

An experiment was carried out to investigate the efficacy of herbicide combinations between Tetris and Basagran for weed eradication, especially for Leptochloa chinensis and Echinochloa crus-galli, in rice plant using direct planting system. This experiment was done between May and September 2011 in Biromaru, District of Sigi, Central Sulawesi. There were 12 treatments tested and arranged in a randomized block design, namely: Tetris 0.75 l/ha + Basagran 2 l/ha, Tetris 0.75 l/ha + Basagran 3 l/ha, Tetris 1 l/ha + Basagran 2 l/ha, Tetris 1 l/ha + Basagran 3 l/ha, Tetris 1.2 l/ha + Basagran 2 l/ha, Tetris 1.2 l/ha + Basagran 3 l/ha, Tetris 1 l/ha + Invest 400g + 2.4D 0.8 l/ha, RiceStar-Xtra 0.5 l/ha + 2.4D 0.8 l/ha, Cliper 0.5 l/ha + 2.4D 0.8 l/ha, Rumpas 0.3 l/ha + 2.4D 0.8 l/ha, Pyzaro 1 l/ha + 2.4D 0.8 l/ha, and control (without herbicide). Each of these treatments was replicated three times and applied at 10 and 20 days after planting. The results indicated that all the herbicide combinations were able to eradicate total and dominant weeds in the tested rice field. The dominant weeds that were eradicated including grass weed (Ischaemum rugosum, Leptochloa chinensis and Echinochloa crus-galli), “teki” (Cyperus iria and Fymbristilis miliacea) as well as a broadleaf weed (Ludwigia octovalvis). It was also found that the application of Tetris and Basagran combination in a rice plantation using the direct planting system at 10 days after planting was more effective than at 20 days after planting, and the recommended ranges of combination is between 0.75+2 l/ha and 1+2 l/ha.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to analyze the micro climate within a greenhouse in order to predict the flowering time and physiological maturity of tomato plant grown in the greenhouse. Heat unit was also used to determine the growing and development stage of tomato. Tomato was planted in the greenhouse for the period of August to December 2010 at Climatically Research Agency, Cimanggu, Bogor. The weather data collected using automatically weather station (aws) included air temperature, minimum and maximum temperature, relative humidity, and solar radiation intensity.The results of the research showed that heat unit of tomato during the growth period were 1692oC days. The average of air temperature and the relative humidity in the greenhouse was 27.1oC and 74.2%, respectively. The method of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) showed that coefficient correlations (R) of the flowering time and physiological maturity were 0.43655 and 0.48751, respectively, while the RMSE values were 5.2314 and 2.2539, respectively. Key words :  Artificial neural network (ANN), greenhouse, and microclimate.

Abstract

This research aimed at finding out: (a) factors influencing the dryland paddy production at Bungku Utara Sub-district; and (b) the efficiency of the use of the production factors at the dryland paddy farming.  A multistage random sampling technique was applied to draw out samples for this research.  Firstly, the sample of villages was determined using a purposive sampling method. Three villages were then chosen as the location of the research.  They were village of Baturube, village of Kalombang and village of Womparigi.  Secondly, the sample of farmers involved was determined.  Since there were 230 farmers from those 3 villages,a simple random sampling method was used to draw 130 of them as the sample of the research subject.  The research findings showed that (a) the production factors of land size, urea fertilizer, SP36 fertilizer and KCl fertilizer have a significant influence on the dryland paddy production, while the other factors such as seed, pesticide and human labor have no significant influence; and (b) economically, the use of production factors such as land size, seed, urea, SP36, and KCl fertilizers, pesticide and human labor was sufficiently inefficient.

Abstract

The infertile of Entisol, especially low availability of N, P, and K, causes the decreasing in growth and development of plant. Hence, important efforts on management of Entisol are the increasing in N, P, and K availability for crop demand. The extract of market organic residue compost is as source of organic matter used to improve the soil, although the fertilizers are still not yet have full attention. A study that was aimed to elucidate roles of the market organic residue compost extract on increasing N, P and K availability, improving crop growth and N, P, and K uptake by red onion Palu local variety in an Entisol  was conducted in a glasshouse. Twelve treatments consisting of the fermentation duration and concentration of the extract, three rates of fermentation duration (4, 8 and 12 days), four rates of concentration of the extract (0, 5, 10, and 15 cc/L water) were arranged in a factorial randomized block design with three replicates. Results of the experiment showed that application of the extract concentration and fermentation duration significantly increased N, P, and K availability, improved plant growth and increased N, P and K  taken up by the plant grown for 45 days. Key Words : Entisol, extract of compost, N, P, and K uptake

Abstract

The domestic need of soybeans in Indonesia has yet to be met due to its low productivity. One effort to improve it is through the provision of rhizobium, NPK fertilizer and bokashi. The purpose of this study was to determine the interaction effects of rhizobium, NPK fertilizers and bokashi in peat soil on growth and yield parameters of soybean. The research used a two-factorial Randomized Block design (RBD) with three replicates.  The first factor was rhizobium (without and with rhizobium).  The rhizobium added was at a rate of 20 g legin/kg seed. The second factor is the rates of fertilizers (with no fertilizer added, 25 kg NPK/ha, 50 kg NPK/ha, 75 kg NPK/ha and 2 ton bokashi/ha).  The results showed that the interaction of the rhizobium and the NPK fertilizer added at 20 kg/ha was significantly affected plant height, number of pods per plant, number of filled pods per plant, number of seeds per plant but it was not significant on leaf number, number of seeds per pod, weight of 100 seeds and number of root nodules. The interaction of the rhizobium and the NPK fertilizer added at 50 kg/ha significantly affected plant height, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, number of seeds per plant, number of root nodules but no significant effect on leaf number and weights of 100 seeds. The interaction of the rhizobium and the NPK fertilizer added at 75 kg/ha significantly affected plant height, number of pods per plant, number of pods per plant, number of seed pods per plant but no significant effect on leaf number, number of seeds per pod, weight of 100 seeds and number of root nodules. The interaction of the rhizobium and the bokashi significantly affected number of pods per plant, number of filled pods per plant, number of seeds per plant but no significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, weight of 100 seeds and number of nodules.

Abstract

The effects of guano and P fertilizer on pH (H2O), available–P and P-uptake of Peanuts in Inceptisols were studied in a pot experiment.  The experiment was carried out from August to November 2007 at the Green House of Agricultural Faculty of Tadulako University.  A Randomized Block Design (RBD) in a factorial experiment was used in which each treatment was replicated three times.  The first factor was guano fertilizer levels: 0 t ha-1; 7.5 t ha-1; and 15 t ha-1.  The second factor was P fertilizer levels: 0 kg P ha-1; 21.85 kg P ha-1; and 43.70 kg P ha-1. The test plant used was Kelinci Variety.The result of the experiment showed that the interaction effect of guano and P fertilizer significantly increased pH (H2O), available-P and uptake-P. The highest increases of pH (H2O), available P and P uptake was found in the 15 t guano ha-1 combined with 43.70 kg P ha-1 treatment.

Abstract

The research was conducted at Dolo District, Donggala Regency from April to June 2007. The aim of the research was to identify the effect of feeding time on income, expenditure and income over feed cost of local cattle. The experimental design used was a Randomized Block Design in which the treatment included were feeding time between 7 am to 5 pm, between 7 am to 9 pm, 7 am to 11 pm, between 7 am to 1 am, and between 7 am to 3 am. The results showed that the effect of feeding time was significant on income of local cattle feed cost, and expenditure, but not significant on income over feed cost of local cattle.

Abstract

The experiment of applying several kinds of media compositions and doses of KCl fetilizer aimed to determine media composition and potassium doses best for tomato plant (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) growth and yield. This experiment was conducted on February until Juny 2011 at “Balai Benih Induk Hortikultura” farm (± 625 m above sea level), Ngipiksari, Kaliurang, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The experiment used a Completely Randomized Factorial Design with three replications. The first factor was kinds of planting media composition (v/v/v): M1 =soil:goat faeces:sand (1:1:1); M2= soil:goat faeces:sand (2:1:1); and M3= soil:goat faeces:sand (1:1:2). The second factor was doses of potassium: D1 = KCl 75 kg ha-1; D2 = KCl 100 kg ha-1; = KCl 125 kg ha-1; and D4 = KCl 150 kg ha-1. The results of experiment showed that there is significant interaction between media compositions and doses of potassium on plant dry weight, and fruit diameter and thick. The M2D3 treatment resulted in highest contens of vit. C while the M2D2 in sugar content. The M1D1, M2D3, M3D2, and M3D3 treatments produced better taste than the others. The vegetatif growth (plant height, flowering time and harvest time) was only significantly affected by the media composition while the fruit yield by potassium fertilizer in which largest yield was found in the D3 treatment (3.75 g plant-1).

Abstract

The objectives of the research was to analyze the influence of price, taste, color, texture and size of imported apple fruit on consumers’ preferences and on the purchase of the fruit, and to analyze the influence of attributes to the purchase of the fruit in Hypermart Palu Grand Mall.  The research location was purposively determined in Hypermart considering that itis the largest site where imported fruit are sold in Palu city.  Samples of 50 people were selected using an Accidental Sampling method based on spontaneity factor.  The results of analysis showed that the coefficient of attribute lines of price, taste, color, texture, and size statistically affected the volume of the imported apple sold in the Mall.  The variables (Xi) of price, taste, color, texture and size simultaneously affected the purchase variable (Y) significantly at 87.7% or R2 = 0.877 whereas the effect of other factors not included in this research was 0.123 or 12.3%.  The proportional effects on the fruit purchase for the taste variable was 0.799 or 79.9, the size was 0.023 or 2.3%, the color was 0.021 or 2.1%, the texture 0.016 or 1.6% and the price was 0.019 or 1.9%.Keywords : Consumer Preferences,  and Imported Apple Fruits.
