Abstract

Motile aeromonas septicemia/MAS diseases due to Aeromonas hydrophila infection is an obstacle in cultivation of catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus). MAS control can be done by administering vaccines. The purpose of this research is to get the right and effective dose of bivalent vaccine for controlling MAS at catfish. Both isolates will be used as vaccines are local strains of A. hydrophila CASO.01.G and SBMI.2. Both of them were isolated from disease catfish in the aquaculture ponds in Cindai Alus and Sungai Batang villages, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan. Vaccines are made by heating (heat killed) at 100oC for 60 minutes. A total of  13 test catfish measuring 9-13 cm were included in each aquarium. The design used was a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 3 replications, namely bivalent vaccine with a dose of 109 cells/ml, 108 cells/ml, 107 cells/ml, 106 cells/ml, and control (PBS solution pH 7.0). The highest antibody titers in treatments vaccinated fish at a dose of 107 cells / ml (1,706.67). The effectiveness of the vaccine can be seen by the high RPS value of the treatment dose 109 cells/ml (97.22%); 108 cells/ml (100%); 107 cells/ml (97.22%); and 106 cells/ml (100%). The control MTD value was 1 day with 97.43% mortality, while in the vaccine treatment with dose of 107 cells/ml, there was a MTD repeat value for 1 day, but only 1 fish died. Water quality of this research are supportive and not a cause of fish death during the challenge test

Abstract

Large pelagic fish is one of a major fish that were caught by fishermen inLempasing Coastal Fishing Port. The large pelagic fish, landed in LempasingCoastal Fishing Port, are little tuna, king mackerel, great barracuda, needle fish, and trevally. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of productivityof large pelagic fish and to predicts large pelagic fishing season in LempasingCoastal Fishing Port. The study was conducted in March-July 2015. The methodwas descriptive method. The results showed that the level of productivity of largepelagic fish in Lempasing Coastal Fishing Port tend to fluctuate each year. Thehighest productivity occurred in 2010 amounted to 30.67 kg/trip and lowestproductivity occurred in 2011 amounted to 12.96 kg/trip. The peak fishing seasonof little tuna occur in August with index value 176.76%. The peak fishing seasonof king mackerel occur in Mei with index value 176.93%. The peak fishing seasonof great barracuda occur in March with index value 136.14%. The peak fishingseason of needle fish occur in December with index value 184.54%. The peakfishing season of trevally occur in December with index value 156.54%.

Abstract

Snakehead is a kind of fresh water fish that still taken from the nature, which is the yieldof it fishing are unreliable. Therefore, the aquaculture technique is needed. Criticalphase of snakehead aquaculture is choosing suitable feed for larvae. Based on this problem, information about first feed suitable for larvae is very important. The aim of the research is to know about growth and survival rate of snakehead larvae with differentfeed. The research was done in 21 days at the Center for Research and Development ofFreshwater Aquaculture Bogor. Larvae with first weight 0.4±0.07 mg and length 4.56±0.53 mm were used. Fish were feed three times daily in ad satiation. Experimentaldesign used was completely randomized design four treatment with three replications, namely A (egg yolk chicken), B (Moina sp,), C (Artemia sp.) and D (silk worm).Parameters measured were the absolute length growth, the growth of absolute weight, specific growth rate, survival rate and feed efficiency. Water quality parameters weretemperature, pH, DO and conductivity. The result showed that the used of silk worm asfirst feed for larvae indicated the best performences. The growth of the absolute length of13.34±1.30 mm, absolute weight of 54.52±2.93mg, specific growth rate 23.85±0.21%,survival rate 97.67±2.36% and feed efficiency 82.69±7.79%.  Keywords : feed, growth, larvae, silk worm, snakehead, survival rate.

Abstract

Probiotics are very important for cultivation because of their role in improving the health status of fish, increasing the body's resistance to disease, growth rate, improving intestinal morphology and balance of the microflora. The study aimed to compare commercial probiotics with probiotics from fermented milk using kefir seeds in an effort to improve health, growth rate and efficiency of sangkuriang catfish feed. The research material used 5-7cm long sangkuriang catfish as many as 400 tails. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications, namely P0:Control (feed without addition of probiotics), P1: Feed + 5% Probiotics A (King Grameh), P2: Feed + 5% Probiotics B (Em4), P3: Feed + 5% Probiotics C (Kefir). Each experimental unit consisted of 20 fish. The parameters observed in this experiment were growth rate, FCR and feed efficiency. Treatment with various types of probiotics has a significant effect (P <0.05) on FCR, feed efficiency, and growth rate. However, the FCR in treatments T1 and T2 did not show significant differences, and on feed efficiency and growth rate on T1 were not significantly different. The conclusion of this study is that the provision of kefir probiotics is able to show better production results.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of prebiotics supplementions oncarbohydrate based diets on growth and feed efficiency in catfish. This experimentconsisted of three treatments with three replications. The treatments were 0%prebiotic (A); 1% prebiotic (B) and 2% prebiotic C. prebiotic used was extractedfrom sweet potato (varieties: sukuh). Tilapia with an average body weight of50±0.05 g were stocked at a density of 15 fish/ponds and were maintained for 30days.The results showed that application prebiotic in catfish fed can promotebetter growthand feed eficiency compared to control. Application prebiotic 2%(C) showed best result on growth (SGR) and feed efficiency which wassignificantly different (P<0.05) from the other treatments.

Abstract

Helminth is one of the many parasitic groups found on the body of the fish. The helminth parasitic can inflict harm ecologically, biologically and economically. Monitoring of the distribution of disease in fish is crucial especially when the fish has a pattern of migration from one place to another. Fish sampling was carried out in September – October 2012 from the place of landing of Fishes (TPI), i.e. TPI's Pelabuhan Ratu (West Java province), TPI Karangantu (Banten Province), TPI Bandar Lampungprovince of Bandar Lampung), TPI Muara Angke (DKI Jakarta), and TPI BanyuwangiEast Java province). As many as 160 of 218 R. brachysoma (a prevalence 73.38 %), and number of intencity is 1.378 ± 11.96. The helmint parasitic is a Lechitocladium angustiovum (Digenea: Hemiuridae), Lecitochirium sp. (Digenea: Hemiuridae), Prodistomum orientalis (Digenea: Lepocreadiidae) and Anisakis typica (Nematodes: Anisakidae). Differences in characteristics of R. brachysoma habitat will cause differences in the amount, intensity and prevalence of the helminth parasitic species investment in an area. This is related to the behavior of eating and food availability of R. brachysoma. The distribution of the helminth parasitic in the digestive organs is on intestine (13.72%) and stomach (86.28%), utilizing the existing nutrients as food. In very small amounts, the relationship between the parasite and its host is a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship but in great numbers, the helminth parasitic infection can lead to secondary infections on the infected organs and can lead to decreased metabolism.Keyword: distribution, helminth parasites, short body mackerel, Jawa Sea, Rastrelliger brachysoma
