Abstract

The aim of this research was to analysis the effect of different aquaculture systems on the water quality in cultivation of catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus). This research was conducted at Fourth Building Hatchery Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences of Padjadjaran University from June to August 2017. The research was using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments and four replications. The Treatment A were cultivation in recirculation system, treatment B cultivation on biofloc system, and  treatment C cultivation  in conventional system (control). The parameters of this research are absolute growth rate and water quality include temperature, acidity (pH), dissolved oxygen (DO), nitrate, ammonia and phosphate. Data were analyzed using the Fingerprint Analysis Variety and followed Duncan's Multiple Range Test at the level of 95%. The results showed that the modification of the cultivation system had an effect on the growth rate of catfish. The results showed that the highest absolute growth was in treatment B that is 5.3 gram. The most effective cultivation system in producing water quality in cultivation of catfish is the recirculation system. This can be seen from the low ammonia concentration value of 0.00268 mg/L, phosphate 0.45 mg/L and nitrate 0.31 mg/L at the end of the study.

Abstract

Small scale fishing is a very important part of the fisheries sector. Not only play an important role in enhancing food security, but also becomes an absorbent for workers without the need for educational. Actors in the small-scale fishery, as defined by Law 45 of 2009, are fishermen who fish their daily needs with the largest size of 5 (five) Gross Register Tonnes (GT) of fishing boats. The fishermen of Prigi are dominated by small fishermen, where the fleet is no larger than 5 GT. The number of small-scale fishing gear in Prigi exceeds 60% of the total gear. The dominance of small-scale fisheries promotes good management with long-term goals, namely the sustainability of fisheries. Today's management of fisheries management has shifted from conventional management to community-based management. In order to support the community-based management of fisheries management, various information about the community, which is the policy objective, is needed. To this end, small-scale fisheries research in Prigi and strategies for the adaptation of the extended fishery fisheries were carried out. The method used is the snowball sampling method and the calculation of the diversity of catching resources. Fishermen who are the subject of the research are small-scale fishermen who operate ships under 5 GT. The gear is stretch fishing, gillnets and tonda fishing rods. There are small fishermen in Prigi who have different types of gear that are used at that time depending on the season of the fish. The selection of fishing gear by fishermen is likely to be caused by different expertise, skills and experience of fishermen in the operation of fishing gears. In addition, the capital held by fishermen to produce fishing gear and the economic level of the fish caught will also likely affect the fishers in choosing the type of fishing gear used each day. The adaptation strategies of fishermen to unpredictable catches are divided into two groups, namely the catch strategy and the search for alternative sources of income.

Abstract

A prebiotic is a non-digestible food ingredient that beneficially affects the host by selectively stimulating the growth or the activity of one or a limited number of bacteria in the colon. This research aimed to determine the effect of commercial feed containing prebiotics on the growth of catfish (Pangasius sp.). The experiment were done with four treatments and three replicates, namely control A (0% prebiotic), B (1% prebiotic), C (2% prebiotic), D (3% prebiotic). The treatment with the addition of 1% prebiotic can improve number of bacteria populations, protein retention, protein efficiency ratio, specific growth rates, feed efficiency and survival rate higher than the other treatments with the value of each  9.25 ± 0.09b%, 15.65 ± 3.83b%, 112.68 ± 25.22b%, 1.52 ± 0.16c%, 31.55 ± 5.1b% and 93.33 ± 6.67%.. Therefore, the addition of 1% prebiotic can promote the growth performance of catfish.

Abstract

Cilacap is one of the shrimp exporter areas in Indonesia. The exported shrimp from this area is mostly dominated by aquaculture and capture fisheries. The prospect of shrimp catch traceability has not been applied because it is still complicated in term of information about the fishing ground of shrimp and shrimp catch data from supplier and lack of governance. Shrimp fisheries in Cilacap are dominated by small-scale fisheries that usually have not been certified and may be affected by international commerce. Based on that explanation, it is important to conduct a study about shrimp traceability readiness in Cilacap. A purposive sampling and accidental sampling method were used in this research, accompanied by descriptive content analysis. The result shows that the readiness of Cilacap shrimp fisheries is still in the stage of concept preparation. The standard value of handling and processing shrimp according to Indonesian National Standard. Facilities that support the traceability system function properly. Enumeration intervention may be used to support a proper small-scale fisheries traceability in Cilacap.

Abstract

Silvofishery based mangrove ecosystem based resource management has been alreadywidely known and practiced, both at home and abroad. However, until now it’s difficultto find silvofishery application with correct and proper principles, in terms of bioengineering, ecological and institutional. The researched was conducted on March2012. The aims of this study were (1) assess the ecological status, (2) assess fishaquaculture bioengineering, (3) economic and financial analysis for the silvofisheryapplication, and (4) determine the pattern of silvofishery management in RPH TegalTangkil.Collected data were related to ecological, economic, social and institutionalaspect, which related to silvofishery management in RPH Tegal-Tangkil. The researchshowed that, mangroves contribute significantly to the daily shrimp by product. Waterquality conditions currently were still suitable for fish aquaculture activities. Althoughthere were discovered heavy metals content in this area, there for it is necessary toimprove water quality by develop reservoir system. In terms of bioengineering, fishermanwere still culture fish by traditionally technique and not done with correct and properprinciples. Economically silvofishery system was still able to develop for increasefishermans incomes. If silvofisheries were applied properly, it can increase fishermanincome up to 509.60%. However, silvofishery management was still deficient; It is seenfrom the difference between the ideal and reality. Institutional improvement minawanamanagement system at least focus on the improvement of the organization and rules ofthe game.
