Abstract

Jabodetabek, as the hub of national economic growth in Indonesia, has emerged as a countermagnet for capital city development. This has sparked heightened competition among property agents striving to boost their property sales. PT Rajawali Sumber Berkat Abadi operates in the property industry, focusing on property consulting services. In this fiercely competitive landscape, the company aims to elevate its service quality. To achieve this, they plan to devise a strategy using the Servqual and SWOT methods. The Servqual questionnaire will help identify specific service deficiencies and strengths in property consulting. Additionally, it will calculate comparative values to gauge their significance. Alongside, a SWOT analysis will pinpoint weaknesses, strengths, opportunities, and threats. This will involve discussions with the company's commissioners and calculations using AHP and QSPM methods. The analysis revealed three primary service deficiencies, despite an overall good quality score. It was found that the optimal strategy design lies in the Strength-Opportunity (S-O) strategy. This approach translates into several work programs aimed at bolstering market penetration. Four S-O strategies were outlined, consisting of 20 distinct work programs. Furthermore, a QSPM matrix calculation was employed to reinforce the SWOT matrix’s findings. This aimed to pinpoint the most pertinent company strategy for implementation. The strategy design obtained a Total Attractiveness Score (TAS) of 9.24, affirming its viability.

Abstract

The primary and supporting activities of the Takalar Sugar Factory have been hindered by limited resources, resulting in low productivity. This research aims to determine strategies to enhance productivity effectively by adding value. It involves analyzing relationships among stakeholders using a Value Chain Analysis for internal activities and a PESTLE Analysis for external environmental factors. A TOWS Analysis is then formed, considering threats, opportunities, weaknesses, and strengths. This process helps develop a prioritized management strategy plan through the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The sugarcane commodity chain comprises production flows, price information in the supply chain, and income streams involving four key actors: farmers, producers, traders, and end consumers. This analysis reveals suboptimal service activities and production technology. Moreover, low bidding prices contribute to uneven income distribution. Additionally, existing policies aimed at empowering sugarcane farmers result in low-value creation. Consequently, the proposed priority strategies for management revolve around enhancing efficiency in sugarcane production, leveraging modern cultivation techniques, employing Internet of Things technology, increasing sugarcane production capacity through on-farm restructuring, revitalizing off-farm factories for sugar production, and expanding market share by promoting new packaging products.

Abstract

Scheduling is essential in production systems as it manages resource allocation and ensures precise and timely operations. A timber firm produces wooden hammocks and pallets to meet the demand for wooden pallets in the domestic market using a flow shop type production flow and the First Come First Served (FCFS) method. In December 2022, there was excess capacity due to a decrease in demand. Conversely, the company experienced a shortage of capacity in January due to a significant increase in demand for pallets from several companies. This situation resulted in idle time when switching to the next task, indicating that production capability was not being utilized to its full potential. The aim of this research is to provide production scheduling proposals to minimize makespan by applying the Nawaz-Enscore-Ham (NEH) method and the Integer Linear Programming (ILP) method. The proposed production scheduling with a lower makespan has been successfully obtained in this study.

Abstract

A company operating in the sector of workshop production of nuts and bolts requires workers to maintain high levels of speed, precision, and consistency, as well as significant responsibility to deliver the best results for customers. However, while carrying out their tasks, workers may make mistakes due to work fatigue. Therefore, researchers conducted a study to determine the extent of mental and physical workload using the Bourdon Wiersma and Cardiovascular Load (CVL) methods. Bourdon Wiersma is an objective method of measuring workload to determine the level of mental burden in tasks requiring precision, speed, and high consistency, including monotonous tasks. Cardiovascular Load (CVL) involves comparing the increase in heart rate with the maximum heart rate and classifying workload based on the increase in working heart rate compared to the maximum heart rate, expressed as cardiovascular load (% CVL). The research results show that the Bourdon Wiersma percentage for the three job tasks was generally quite good before work and fell within the category of moderate or mild tiredness after work. Additionally, the largest average %CVL occurred in operators at 63%.

Abstract

Assessing the quality of processed fish products stands as a critical factor in ensuring consumer satisfaction, upholding industry standards, and reducing wastage. Traditional methods for quality classification typically involve manual inspection, which is both time-consuming and subjective. In recent years, the utilization of advanced data analysis techniques, such as Self-Organizing Maps (SOMs), has emerged as a promising approach to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of quality assessment in the fish processing industry. SOMs provide a multi-dimensional map capable of representing various quality attributes of processed fish products. This study aims to classify the quality of processed fish products based on four attributes that impact their time to spoilage. The SOMs effectively segmented the dataset into two clusters, with one cluster being more prone to spoilage, while the other demonstrated a longer shelf life.

Abstract

In the industrial landscape, employee welfare plays a pivotal role in influencing company productivity and overall employee satisfaction. A crucial aspect that shapes employee welfare is the quality of the work facilities provided by the company. The incorporation of ergonomic work facilities can significantly amplify work comfort and safety, thereby mitigating the risks associated with work-related injuries or health issues. This research seeks to assess the ergonomic aspects of work facilities within a workspace by applying anthropometric principles. This methodology involves measuring various facets of the human body, encompassing shape, size, and strength, and utilizing these metrics to customize facilities to suit human requirements. Such an approach holds the potential to augment employee performance and alleviate symptoms associated with musculoskeletal disorders. The research findings highlight several dimensions of work facilities that do not align with the employees' body dimensions. Consequently, it is imperative to propose recommendations to the Remuneration and Industrial Relations Department of PT CCP, a private company in Indonesia, aimed at enhancing work facilities. These suggestions aim to realign the facilities with anthropometric dimensions meticulously designed by the author.

Abstract

Solar energy is one of several new and unlimited renewable energy sources. In Indonesia, sunlight, despite its abundance, is often underutilized as an energy source. It is designed to optimize battery charging and discharging performance while ensuring operational safety through automatic protection. Battery charging tests show that the solar panels can produce a total current of 3.56 Ah in one day, indicating high efficiency under ideal lighting conditions. During the no-load discharge test, the system maintained a stable output voltage between 5.1 and 5.2 V for input voltages between 4 and 12 V, but the output voltage became zero when the input was less than 4 V, indicating the presence of a cut-off mechanism to protect the battery from under-voltage. Further testing with a load showed the battery voltage dropping to 11.26 V, with the current stabilizing at 0.3 A. The protection system is proven to be effective, becoming active at a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius and a current of 1 A, preventing overheating and overcurrent, which can damage the battery or cause a safety hazard.

Abstract

A rice warehouse's operations consist of loading and unloading activities of rice from transport trucks to storage warehouses and vice versa, distributing it to nearby agents. The work at the warehouse is done manually without any tools, with workers lifting rice sacks weighing more than 50 kg onto their shoulders every day. Tasks involving sudden loading pose a risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The purpose of this study is to determine the safe weight that can be lifted by workers and to measure body posture to evaluate the risk of MSDs to prevent injuries. The NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) method is used by measuring the Recommended Weight Limit (RWL) and Lifting Index (LI). The REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment) method involves measuring body parts A and B using the REBA worksheet. The study results indicate that the Lifting Index score for rice lifting has a very high risk, as does the REBA work posture score, which also shows a very high risk. Therefore, immediate improvements are needed in the loading and unloading process.
