Abstract

ABSTRACTAdaptation red potato planted on medium altitude in Bengkulu upland in order to correct land suitability classification based on criteria of land characteristics/quality. The research was conducted from July to October 2009, Kepahiang, Bengkulu located in 4 (four) experimental stations; mediumaltitude which located in Kelobak 525 m (up sea level, usl) and Pematang Donok, 650 m usl comparing location in Tugu Rejo 1135 m usl and Bandung Baru 1346 usl. Temperature in high altitude on Bengkulu upland was 22.3 oC in Bandung Baru and 23.5 oC in Tugu Rejo. In highland Bengkulu, land suitability class was Marginally Suitable (S3t) around Bandung Baru, while around Tugu Rejo, and medium altitude of upland Bengkulu around Kelobak and Pematang Donok with average temperature 24.8 oC categorized Permanently Non Suitable (N2t). Following the result of red potato adaptation research, there was no significantly diference among 4 (four) experimental location of potato yields in which yield of potato in Bandung Baru was 16.7 tons ha-1, Tugu Rejo was 15.5 ton ha-1, and yield of red potato in medium altitude of Bengkulu upland in Kelobak was 15.4 tons ha-1 and Pematang Donok was 19.3 tons ha-1. Based on those, temperature as a limiting factor for potato growth was the same suitable for red potato cultivation in the high and medium altitude of Bengkulu upland. Criteria of land sutability classification for potato cultivation in medium altitude of Bengkulu upland categorized N2t, Permanently Unsuitable should be corrected because of medium altitude of upland in Bengkulu high potential to develop as area for red potato cultivation.Key words: temperature, land suitability classification, red potato.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBanten bay coastal zone is a unique ecosystem which has a variety potencies and problems of using some natural resources, especially in the trade off between economic growth and ecological preservation. Based on these conditions, this research aimed to identify the management feasibility of Banten Bay coastal resources. An extended cost-benefit analisys which integrated the external and/or environmental benefits, damage cost and cost of society of environmental protection measures was used as methods of this research. The result of this research showed that all of management options of Banten Bay coastal resources were feasible to be developed. Based on comparative performance index, it was known that sustainable mangrove management, sustainable harvest and beach protected areas were the most feasible management option to be implemented in the management of Banten Bay coastal resources.   Key words:  cost-benefit analysis, sustainable management, coastal and marine resources.

Abstract

This research was done to know virulence of entomophatogenic fungus from some growth medium to larvae Tirathaba rufivena Wlk. This research was held in Laboratory of soil and agroecology Faculty of Agriculture, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University from November 2011 to June 2012. Cordyceps militaris is derived the palm plantation PTPN VIII Cisalak baru garden, District Curug Lebak-Banten. This reserach used non faktorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 various medium (corn, rice, brand) and repeated 9 times. Monitoring parameter toward hyphal diameter growth, number of colony, and mortality larvae Tirathaba rufivena. Result show that the best Cordyceps militaris medium culture was rice medium regarding to hyphal diameter growth about 0,53 cm at 7 HSI, 2,01 cm at 14 HSI and 3,31 cm at 21 HSI, number of colonies 446,33, virulence (LT50) 2,5 week and, 55,52% mortality at 2 MSI, 92,57% at 3 MSI dan 100% at 4 MSI.Keyword : Cordyceps militaris, Tirathaba ruvivena,Virulence, Mortality.

Abstract

Research has been conducted to determine some of the bacteria of antraknosa disease control in chilies (Capsicum annum L.) with in vitro and in vivo methods conducted in the Agroecology Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University on June to October 2011. The research uses Completely Randomized Design same factors as rizo-bacterium bio-control agents. In in vitro test for each factor composed of three level they are application of bio-control from the Pseudomonas fluorescens rizo-bacterium, application of bio-control from the Bacillus sp. rizo- bacterium, and without using a biocontrol agents. In in vivo tests of each factor is composed of 5 levels they are (CO+) without bio-control agents on uninfected chilies, (CO-) without biocontrol agents on infected chilies, with bio-control agents from the Bacillus sp. rizo-bacterium on infected chilies, with bio-control agents from the Bacillus sp. rizo-bacterium on infected chilies, and use bio-control agents combinations of P.fluorescens and Bacillus sp. rizo-bacterium repeated 5 times. Bio-control agent that comes from rhizosfer lands of chilies cultivation, are derived from Ciakar village Cikeusal sub-district, Serang, Banten. The results showed that the biocontrol agents fate with in vitro and in vivo method suppressed antraknosa disease caused by the pathogen Colletotrichum capsici and reduce chilies weight. Bio-control application with P.fluorescens rizo-bacterium group is the best treatment in in vitro test. While in in vivo test, biocontrol agents application of P.fluorescens rizo- bacterium is the best treatment in decrease the incubation period, incidence of disease, and disease antraknosa intensity in chilies, while in decrease in weight shrinkage chilies The best treatment is shown in biocontrol agents of the Bacillus sp. rizo-bacterium.

Abstract

Corn corp (Zea mays L.) is the second commodity food after rice. Corn crop is a plant that in its growth and development process need environmental factor, such as land. Land factor has big contribution in supporting growth and development of plants. Therefore, land has to be evaluated as of the commodities that will be cultivated can provide optimal results. The purpose of this research was to assess land suitability classes and provide direction zoning commodity corn crops in Lebak regency and provide alternative improvement of the limiting factors in an effort to increase corn production. Descriptive method based on desk study activities and survey was used in this research.  Principal of that method was based on approach of landscape mapping and the interpretation of aerial photographs or satellite images, then land evaluation of that land units. Agro-ecological zones parted as 5 zones and 18 sub zones. Zones that being in research areas were zone I (forestry), II (annual plants/plantation), III (annual plants and crops), IV (crops) and VII (forestry/pasture). Based on its land suitability for corn crops were in agro-ecological zone III and IV. In research area agro-ecological zone III and IV that suitable for corn commodities planting were 7 sub zones, there were III/Df;h;ei (S2-tc/wa/rc), III/Dhf;sp (S2-tc/wa/rc), IV/Df;h;ei (S2-tc/rc), IV/Dfs,hv/Wr (S2-tc/rc), IV/Dhf/Wr (S2-tc/rc), IV/Dfe/Wr (S2-tc), and IV/Wr/Dhf (S2-tc/rc), with land area reaches 62.877 ha or about 18,92%  from the total of Lebak regency land area is  332.371 ha.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was about the growth of in vitro Chrysanthemum daisy L.) on medium which used Benzyl Amino Purine (BAP) and activated  charcoal. Research aim to determine the growth of Chrysanthemum plant on different concentrations of BAP and active charcoal into medium. This reseach was done in culture laboratory, in Association of Plant Forest Seed and Plantation Banten Province.  This research used factorial experiment which arranged in Randomized  Complete Design. The treathment consist of two factor. The first factor was BAP concentrate which were consist of five level include 0 ppm concentrate; 0.5 ppm; 1.0 ppm; 1.5 ppm; and 2.0 ppm. Second factor was activated charcoal dossage which consist four level included dossage 0 g L-1; 1 g L-1; 2 g L-1; and 3 g L-1. Based on the result of research showed that interaction in BAP and active charcoal influenced hight bud, but did not influence the number of shoots.  The best high of shoots on the age 1-5 WAP (Week After Plants) which given BAP and activated charcoal in vitro medium consist act combination 1-5 WAP A0B1 (0.5 ppm BAP without active charcoal). Singular factor BAP and active charcoal showed that act without BAP and activated charcoal produced the best at 5 WAP.Keywords: Chrysanthemum  plant, BAP, and Activated charcoal.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBrown sugar has a specificity than others. It is not only as a sweetener, but also have a low glicemic index and specific flavor. That are the reason why does the brown sugar become a prospective commodity in the global market. Palm juice is th raw material of brown sugar which is easy to fermentation when it is tapped. An alternative way to preserved the palm juice was using liquid smoke. The aim of this research was identifying the effect of additional liquid smoke with  redistilation and without redistilation on the colour’s changing of brown sugar. It used Chromameter CR300 to measured colour intencity with La and b system. The result showed that additional liquid smoke with or without redistillation  made  the colour’s changing. The colour of  brown sugar with additional redistillation liquid smoke lighter than brown sugar with additional liquid smoke without redistillation.Key words : Brown Sugar, liquid smoke, redistillation, colour.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBaggase represent waste of lignocellulose yielded by sugar mill after sugar cane taken its. Especial component of bagasse for example fiber about 43-52%, lignine content of 20% and pentosan content of 27%. pulp had been made from bagasse fiber. This research conducted to know the bleaching methode using various concentration peracetic acid viewed from their chemical properties. The bleaching process was carried out using peracetic acid 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15% at 850C for 3 hours. After works, the pulp was washed and dried at room temperature, analyzed for cellulose, hemicellulose and number of kappa. The result showed that higher peracetic acid concentration descreased in cellulose, hemicelluse, lignin, permangant number and kappa number. The best result was obtained at the concentration of 3% with content of cellulose, hemicellulose, and permanganat numer and kappa number of 70,16%, 16,85%, and 30,05 5 respectively.Keywords: bagasse, peracetic acid,cCellulose

Abstract

ABSTRACTResearch about the effect of multiple doses of gamma irradiation to improved the appearance of the chrysanthemum plant has been carried out on chrysanthemum varieties Gold van Langen-doses of gamma irradiation: 0 Gy, 5 Gy, 10 Gy, and 15 Gy.  Gamma irradiation has given at 2-week-old seedlings, which already have roots. Seeds that have been irradiated maintained up to 16 WAP. The results showed there are no all doses causes death in up to 16 WAP chrysanthemum seedlings but with a dose of 15 Gy seedlings did not grow at all. Dose of 5 Gy encourage the formation of lateral shoots on chrysanthemum. The higher the dose given causing the growth of seedlings of chrysanthemum hampered.Keywords:  Chrysanthemum, Mutation Induction, irradiation.

Abstract

ABSTRACTPhosphorus deficiency test research in several clones of sugar cane produced in seven months has been carried out during 25 April-25 November 2007 in the Laboratory ICBB, Nagrak Cilubang-Bogor. The purpose of this research is to influence the interaction between phosphoru concentration of sugarcane clones. This research using completely randomized design arranged as a factorial with two factors. The first factor is composed of sugarcane clones with three levels different there are: cv. Triton (V1), cv. PSJT 94-41 (V2), and cv. PA 175 (V3). The second factor is the addition of KH2PO4 in the culture medium modification of P deficiency consisting of six levels, namely: 0 mg/l KH2PO4 (D1), 34 mg/l KH2PO4 (D2); 68 mg /l KH2PO4 (D3); 102 mg /l KH2PO4 (D4); 136 mg /l KH2PO4 (D5) and 170 mg /l KH2PO4 (D6). Results obtained by the interaction between concentration of P given by clones tested in vitro, and sugarcane cv PA 175 best growth on media by providing 170 mg /l KH2PO4Key words: Saccharum officinarum L, phosphorus, devisiensi, in vitro
