Abstract

Christian religion claims itself to be the universal religion, ie. the religion for all mankind. Therefore, evangelization or Christianization is the main part of Christian peoples and inseparable from their institution. But then that Christian universality encountered great challenge since the very beginning of the advent of Islam. The rivalry between both of them has been going on for 14 centuries.Various ways and means has been made by the Christians to subduing Islam and to proselytizing peoples, including in Indonesia that its majority of the peoples are Muslims. Muslims are difficult to be converted indeed, but most of them are unaware about what and how the tricky movements and the latent perils that imposed by the evangelization. Even if not being christianized, Muslims are secularized so they’re alienated from Islam and confrontational with their own religion. Yet, the idea about the universal religion is being misunderstood by the Christians. The truth is that the origin and the true “Christian” conceive the universal teachings, but confined to Jesus’ race only. Gospel—the holy scripture carried by Jesus—also prophesied the tidings about the coming of the universal religion in the future. But, Christian nowadays lost it real teachings. Besides, there’s so many verses, doctrines and teachings originated not from Jesus, one of  them is the command to proselytize peoples outside the Jews.

Abstract

The study entitled "Bid'ah According to the Muhammadiyah Perspective (The Study of Fatwa of the Majelis Tarjih and Tajdid Muhammadiyah" aims to formulate, define and provide more stringent limits on the concept of heresy according to Muhammadiyah through its fatwa institute "Majelis Tarjih and Tajdid" in In the midst of debate about the definition, concept and boundaries of heresy itself, Muhammadiyah wants to offer a moderate definition and concept to become a meeting point of the many schools, schools and religious ideologies that are developing. practically and theoretically, the practical benefits of this research are expected to be able to provide encouragement and motivation to Muslims to always study the vast treasures of Islamic science, so that a moderate Islamic society is realized and always prioritizes tolerance face differences especially the khilafiyah problems. This type of research includes qualitative research. The primary source is a collection of fatwas from the Majelis Tarjih and Tajdid Muhammadiyah. While the secondary sources are data and information derived from fiqh books, fiqh proposals and aqeedah which discuss bid'ah. This study uses the content analysis approach. This method is used to draw conclusions through efforts to bring up the characteristics of messages carried out objectively and systematically.

Abstract

Islam and faith are two important elements of religion. Disputes in the issue of faith have taken place among the scholars who discuss the existence and polemics in it. Among the well-known scholars of the Ahlussunnah wa al-Jama'ah, namely Abu Al-Hasan Asy'ari, argued that faith is a justification made in the heart and expressed verbally. However, most scholars disputed Asy'ari's statement about faith, one of which was Syaikhulal-Islam Ibn Taimiyah who said that faith is not enough with heart justification and verbal speech but must be accompanied by the charity as an idea of justification. With the differences of opinion between both of them. this article seeks to identify Ibn Taimiyah's attitude or view of Imam Asy'ari in matters of faith. Through the kalamiyah approach that uses descriptive methods and analysis of a number of findings are produced. That, Ibn Taimiyah denied al-Asy'ari's statement which referred to linguists as the basis of the concept of faith and did not rely on the arguments of the Qur'an and Sunnah. This is because the Sanad is not known for the statement if the understanding of faith is just then it is a depiction of Ahad and is not determined based on mutilated recitation, because there is no mention of an amplifier from the words of the Arabs. Whereas the mistake mentioned by Ibn Taymiyyah in the concept of faith al-Ash'ari, actually does not come out of the view of the Salaf scholars, namely that faith is justification in the heart and knows it, but that al-Asy'ari holds that charity in the concept of faith is something the external concept of faith itself. In addition, Ibn Taimiyah also contends with Asy'ari that faith decreases and increases decreases due to disobedience and increase because of remembering Allah and His Messenger.

Abstract

This paper try to reveal the approach used by Badi’uzzaman Said Nursi in Islamic Psychotherpy discourse, and try to undestand his method in mantaining morals and spirituals value and bettering it.  Also this paper is aimed to focus on Nursi’s approach and method that differentiate him from other Muslim schoolar and psychologist. The approach bacground will be disscused here as well as it reason and aim of Nursi’s approach toward this issue. Nursi’s works is not merely an intelectual contemplation but as a direct respons to various problems he faced and is faced by Turkish society at that time. This paper use qualitative methode (library research) which focused to respon the main problem. Therefore, it is critical to put his works into context of faith which is the guidence of live. With his works, Risale-i Nur, Said Nursi introduce Metode Imani answering and giving solutions to moral degradation that spread all over the world. His approach in psychotherapy develop  a deep understanding about the concept of faith and its impact upon the live.

Abstract

Tulisan ini merupakan telaah pustaka pemikiran Mulla Sadra mengenai konsep humanisme spiritual dan signifikansinya terhadap eksistensi manusia di era modern. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui makna, prinsip-prinsip, dan hakikat humanis dalam pandangan Mulla Sadra melalui karya utamanya berjudul al-Asfar al-Arba’ah dan beberapa penelitian mengenai pemikiran filsafat Mulla Sadra. Dengan meggunakan analisa deskriptif filosofis dihasilkan kesimpulan bahwa konsep humanisme Mulla Sadra ditelaah melalui diskursus jiwa. Implikasinya, manusia mengetahui dan menyadari adanya aspek imateri dalam eksistensi dirinya bersifat menyempurna. Di samping mengetahui adanya aspek imateri dalam eksistensi manusia, konsep humanis dalam pandangan Mulla Sadra ialah mengkritisi pandangan filsuf barat, seperti Jean Paul Sartre dan Fredrich Nietzsche yang memandang eksistensi manusia berdasarkan kesadaran materi. Akibatnya, eksistensi manusia dipandang melalui sisi kebendaannya. Implikasinya, kesadaraan manusia bersifat terbatas. Di era modern, mayoritas manusia memahami eksistensi dirinya sebagaimana penawaran filsuf barat, sehingga mayoritas manusia tidak memiliki kesadaraan dalam menyadari dan mengetahui eksistensi dirinya, sebagaimana mestinya. Pandangan para filsuf barat terhadap kesadaran materi dalam eksistensi manusia menyebabkan kebebasan berkehendak. Kebebasan berkehendak dalam pandangan barat menyebabkan dehumanis, sebab mengutamakan aspek emosional dan hawa nafsu dalam eksistensi manusia. Hasil tulisan ini, memberikan solusi dalam meningkatkan kesadaran eksistensi manusia, khususnya mengenai makna, prinsip, dan hakikat humanis di era modern. Semakin sadar manusia terhadap makna dan hakikat humanis, maka semakin tinggi eksistensi manusia. Implikasinya, manusia dapat mencapai tingkat kesempurnaan dalam dirinya tanpa adanya batasan. Dari berbagai penjelasan tersebut, penulis memberikan hipotesa bahwa konsep humanis spiritual Mulla Sadra dapat meningkatkan eksistensi manusia sebagai solusi terhadap krisis eksistensi manusia di era modern.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the process of Islamization on the theory of welfare, which is presented by M. Hibatal Azizy in his book “Mendudukkan Kembali Makna Kesejateraan dalam Islam (2014)”. The intended test is carried out through the perspective of the Islamic research program of lakatosian; which is adopted from the Methodology of Scientific Research Programes by Imre Lakatos (w.1974). This research program consists of 4 steps of analysis, namely (1) finding the problem in the initial theory, (2) finding the initial paradigm, (3) shifting of paradigm and (4) building a new theory. Based on this perspective, Azizy has carried out the four steps of the analysis above and produced a welfare theory in accordance with the Islamic paradigm, which called falāh theory of welfare. An important point of his theory is theIslamic welfare includes oriented to the worldly and ukhrowi dimensions. Overall fulfillment of welfare for a Muslim can be specified in 5 aspects of life; religion, soul, reason, descent and wealth.

Abstract

This article aims to take a lesson and inspiration from of two Muslim thinkers al-Ghazālī and Ibn Rushd in their intellectual legacy in Islamic philosophy. The legacy of these two figures has an influence on the current development of Islamic thought and Islamic education until now. Its influence is not only in the Islamic world, but also in the Western world. One of the interesting issues in examining the thoughts between these two figures is the contradiction between philosophical aspect in the al-Ghazālī’s work in Tahāfut al-Falāsifah and Rushd’s work in Tahāfut at-Tahāfut. The value of this article is to take inspiration from the discussion, then use it to develop Islamic education in Modern Era. This study uses a library research methodology of the work of the two figures and from a journal or research that analyzes the discussion of the two figures. The results of this study are: providing insight into how to benefit from a culture of literacy and scientific dialogue; open and productive attitude, the importance of critical and systematic thinking; and provides insights into the Islamic worldview of Muslim scientists in the era of modern science to understand the concepts of knowledge and causality.

Abstract

Abstract:This paper particularly discusses Sayyid Qutb's concept of Islamic Theology. In this paper exposed Sayyid’s ideas that many people said, are the main concept from Sayyid Qutb that inspire thinking for many “radical” groups. Even James Toth said that Sayyid Qutb as the architect of a mindset that inspired the 9/11 tragedy. The argument was reinforced by Paul Berman, who called Sayyid Qutb as The Philosopher of Islamic Terror. From these two arguments, it is obvious that Sayyid’s figure is highly controversial and is a subject of research for many scholars. Even Sayyid’s work, which was titled Ma’alim fii Ath-Thariq, was part of a forbidden book used by the Egyptian government to sentencing Sayyid to death in 1966. The study in this paper is library research by using a descriptive-philosophical analysis. From the results of this research, it can be inferred that Sayyid’s thinking is composed of several ideas. (1) Jahiliyyah. (2) Ratio and Revelation. (3) Islam, Tauhid and Islamic Brotherhood (Ukhuwah Islamiyah), which consists of ukhuwah bil ubudiyyah, ukhuwah bil insaniyyah, ukhuwah bil wathaniyyah, and ukhuwah fii Din Al-Islam. Those concepts were important as another basis for Sayyid’s political views, religion (Ad-Din), and ideological concept, which is the most important goals for banishing jahiliyyah thinking like communism, capitalism, and other concepts based on materialism got into Islam. Keywords: Sayyid Qutb, Islam, Jahiliyah, Ukhuwah Islamiyah
