Abstract

One of the major contributions of Imam al-Ghazali through his book Ihya' Ulumuddin is the discussion of the close relationship between Sufism and fiqh. It is said so, because there are differences in understanding and conflict between groups who tend to pay too much attention to fiqh and ignore tasawuf and even deny it. Some other groups are immersed in the flow of Sufism so that they seem to ignore the Shari'a with the excuse that they are close to Allah SWT. Through Ihya, al-Ghazali explained that Sufism and Jurisprudence cannot be separated from each other, but must be practiced simultaneously. The goal is to reach an inner feeling that is touched by the wisdom in the worship. Like prayer, if the conditions are met, a Muslim should present a humble heart by understanding every meaning of dhikr in it. Likewise zakat, if the physical requirements have been fulfilled, a Muslim should hasten zakat with the intention to cleanse the heart of miserliness and avoid being riya'. In fasting, basically it is not enough just to refrain from eating and drinking, but the essence of fasting is to refrain from doing anything that is hated by Allah SWT and also to refrain from lust and worldly desires.

Abstract

Abstract Khilafah is a state system in Islam that is intended to realize human goals in his life, namely to manifest God's will on earth. This divine will can only be realized if the state system is based on tauhid. Al-Faruqi is a modern Muslim thinker who is deeply concerned with integrating tauhid into various aspects of life, including the state system known as the khilafah in Islam. The objective of this study is to expound al-Faruqi's thoughts on the integration of tauhid teachings and the khilafah concept. This work is a library research with data sources in the form of books, articles, and various other publishing materials, both printed and non-printed. The data was gathered using documentary techniques, and it was analyzed using descriptive-analytical methods. This research finds that according to al-Faruqi, the khilafah is an Islamic state political system that is integrated with a belief system in the form of tauhid. According to al-Faruqi, the integration of tauhid with the khilafah was accomplished comprehensively and completely through three consensuses: consensus of vision (ijma’ al-ru’ya), consensus of will (ijma’ al-iradah), and consensus of action (ijma’ al-‘amal).

Abstract

Abstract The problem of modern man and Western civilization, have caused man in general to forget the nature of his life, particularly in Indonesia. Various kinds of damage, starting from theology, environment, sciences, and other aspects do not escape the consequences of modern man actions. Metaphysics and the real reality of God along with the development of technology, disappeared and replaced with false reality that will destroy the existence of human being itself. Many western scientists agree that human nature is increasingly shortened as modern science and technology evolve, which is empty of metaphysics recognition. Furthermore, modern man today only lives on the edge of his existence and the reality of nature. If they don’t immediately aware of this situation, they have pushed themselves to the brink of physical and spiritual extinction. This research tries to uncover some of Seyyed Hossein Nasr's criticisms and solutions to modern man problems in several aspects such as scientific errors, environmental crises, telology, and cosmology by using literature studies with descriptive analytical methods for general, and for Indonesian in particular. This research draws the following conclusions; First, to deal with the theological problems that deny God's reality, Nasr offered solutions to perennial philosophy and sufism. Second, in facing the mis-concept of the cosmos, Nasr made Islamic Cosmological doctrine as the key. Third, to deal with the worsening environmental crisis, Nasr invites people to make Nature as Sacred creation of God. And finally, the fourth, Nasr offers the concept of Sacred Science, as a solution to the degradation of metaphysical and spiritual values in modern science. Regarding that Indonesia is a big nation, Indonesia needs to apply the Nasr concept as a solution to the destruction of modern man.

Abstract

The existence of a significant quantity gap between religious adherents in Indonesia has the potential to lead to violations of religious freedom. And addition with the application of the rules regarding the right to religious freedom in Indonesia, which are felt to be not optimal, it has led to various arguments by Indonesian experts and scholars in responding to this, including Hamka who also contributed to the construction of ideas about religious freedom in one of his monumental works, namely Tafsir al-Azhar. For this reason, the presence of this study aims to present the construction of Hamka's thoughts regarding the phenomenon of religious freedom that occurs in Indonesia. This study used literature (Library research) with a qualitative approach. The data analysis used in this research is content analysis. In qualitative research, especially in qualitative verification strategies, this data analysis technique is considered to be the most frequently used data analysis technique. This study found that Hamka in his position as a scholar as well as a writer and humanist accepted the concept of religious freedom, especially in Indonesia. This is evidenced by his rejection of the element of coercion in embracing a religion, especially if it has the potential to cause conflict and violence between religions because of the truth claims of each religion (Claim Truth). Because according to him, Islam never teaches violence and war. However, behind Hamka's acceptance of religious freedom, he also puts a limit on the matter, namely that it is not permissible to combine faith and shirk.

This study is a sort of field research that was carried out in Islamic boarding schools in Java. Method of descriptive analytic research. The findings of this study show that each pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) has its own procedure and technique for awarding the sanad al-Qur'an certificate. However, in general, the sanad al-Qur'an diploma will be awarded to santri and female students who have met the following criteria: memorizing the Qur'an 30 juz mutqin with correct recitation; depositing all of the memorization to the kiayi (listener); and having been declared to have passed the tasmi' 30 juz exam with certain conditions set by each pesantren. Based on the facts above, it is clear that the function of pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) is very significant in the transformation process of sanad certificates since pesantren has a unique environment and procedure for getting diplomas that cannot be obtained anywhere else. Furthermore, Islamic boarding schools play an important role in preserving the legitimacy of the Qur'anic sanad brought by Nusantara scholars until they are passed on to the Prophet.
